Guest Reviews
- Gabriele (10/5): Perfekt!
Super geschultes Personal. Essen top zu sehr guten Preisen.
- Veronika (8/5): - It's a very unique villa by the Mekong river. Very quiet with nice view, and huge terrace. The breakfast was very nice. The craft center offers a variety of activities. The bathroom was also nice and clean. My only issue was with the access to the terrace. It is separated only with a curtain from the public area, so anyone can enter. As a solo female traveller, I did not feel safe being on the terrace alone at night.
- Erica (10/5): A wonderful and memorable stay. - A gorgeous location. Rooms are Quiet, comfortable and clean. The bed was really comfortable and the pillows were too! Superb breakfast available. Free tuk tuk shuttle into town and back, running every half hour.
- Mathias (10/5): -
- adelaide (10/5): A place that stays in the heart - My stay here was truly special. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of harmony and calm. The room was beautifully decorated with exquisite locally woven textiles, adding authenticity and soul to the space. Every detail reflected care and cultural depth.
Waking up with the Mekong just in front of me was unforgettable — the light, the silence, the slow rhythm of the river created a magical atmosphere.
The food was excellent, and the kindness of the staff made everything even more meaningful. Their warmth and genuine hospitality completed the experience.
This is not just a hotel, but a place where you truly feel the spirit of Luang Prabang.
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- Skinner (9/5): - Location is nice, very special sunsets from property (much better than downtown). Staff very nice and assisted my wife when her thumb was injured. Restaurant: good menu and food tastes great. The room was spacious with wonderful view on Mekong river. Bed was large and comfy. Shuttle service provided is necessary to get downtown. We were able to get the shuttle several times with no problem. The staff will also assist in booking transfers for train and airport as well as van and driver for Kuang Si. The path lighting at night could be improved.
Tutto molto curato e colorato.

- pat (7/5): Could have been excellent. - The breakfasts were substantial and delicious.
I did an embroidery class which was good fun, the teacher and translator were both very patient and helpful, and we had an enjoyable time.
The room itself was comfortable enough, although rather cold....
The staff members were polite, helfpful and friendly.
Location was lovely. I would give it a 10 out of 10 if the hot water in the shower was hot, but it was not. it was not even warm, whiich was a shame, becauuse almost everything else was excellent, esp the breakfasts.
Reallly, really wished there was proper hot water in the shower, esp since the weather was cold all three days i stayed.
- Mari (10/5): - Herkullista ruokaa myös kasvissyöjille
- Nicholas (9/5): Great place and lovely location. Lovely staff and food. Great ethos as well - Excellent location. Maybe a softer mattress
- Joy (9/5): -
- Giovanni (10/5): Top - Ottima colazione vista Mekong.
- Rossella (10/5): A dream in Luang Prabang - The atmosphere, the furniture, the colors, the idea behind, the breakfasts, the people - everything!
- Giulia (10/5): Esperienza indimenticabile, tutto perfetto e oltre le aspettative. Grata a tutto lo staff - Staff gentilissimo, colazione ottima, vista e tranquillità eccellenti
- Martin (10/5): Lovely boutique place on the river, amazing decor. Nice staff. - Amazing place to stay, visit and eat. The decoration, views, and staff are so nice! Will be back!
- Manan (10/5): Excellent stay - Amazing property and staff
- Alison (6/5): - Lovely staff, good food and wine.
Fantastic shop showcasing the work of the Ock Pop Tok community.
Ok place to stay for a night, but not for longer.
- Parama (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (10/5): Beautiful accommodation, location and fantastic amenities. - Ock Pop Tok is beautiful, located on the Mekong, we booked one of the rooms to overlook the river, which I feel was definitely worth the extra. Great bar and restaurant with shop, the whole complex is well thought out showcasing local craftspeople, you can even take a free tour to learn more, enjoy workshops or wander at your leisure. The room itself was well designed, comfortable and spacious. The hotel has bikes, and a free tuk tuk service so accessing the centre of town is incredibly easy and doesn't take long. I would definitely recommend.
- Viné (10/5): Peaceful, colourful and beautiful - Beautiful setting overlooking the river and beautifully decorated. Staff were excellent. Free shuttle and cycling into town. Stunningly peaceful. Restaurant is superb. Sheets were super soft and just the comfiest bed ever.
- Cezary (10/5): Perfect spot - Everything. If we could give them an 11 as a score, we would have given it. For us our stay at Ock Pop Tok was in word: Fantastic. The place itself is beautiful, the staff extremely helpful and very kind. The location so well chosen when it comes to the sunset. To use the words of our 6 years old daughter: " Mama I feel myself at home here."
We were staying at the villa. A beautiful, perfect place near the Mekong river. The outdoor and indoor design are stunning, very comfy beds, very good shower and excellent bath. To our surprise no mosquitos, so we could enjoy our private teras in the evening.
Free tuk-tuk to town. Very tasty breakfast.
We strongly recommend this place.
- Helen (9/5): Ideal to watch the sunset, chill and enjoy Lao craft culture - Amazing place for sunset. Great explanations of crafts (you can try your hand if you wish). Great café, I recommend the deep fried whole tilapia and the fresh spring rolls. The silk shop has the most beautiful pieces. Don’t expect a bargain, the master weavers need a fair wage. The hot and cold tap were plumbed the wrong way round, so I had a cold shower the first day. Unfortunately the tourist boats passing have very loud music, but that’s not the fault of the hotel, just a shame for the calm atmosphere.
- Ilia (9/5): Superb -
- Dr. (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abu (10/5): excelent - breakfast, dinner and excellent service and the environment
- Globeltrotter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nisha (8/5): Just lovely, magical even! - Beautiful location and villa. Sunsets are magical. Small thing and everyone is well intentioned but sometimes messages are not passed on e.g. pick up from town. It all worked out in the end.
- Sivan (8/5): Such a great experience! - I loved staying right at the living crafts centre, it was so interesting being able to learn more about the women who work there & weave these beautiful artisanal products. The room was comfortable & clean and I loved the sustainability aspects. The view from the restaurant onto the river was absolutely beautiful and I appreciated the free tuktuk transfer between the living crafts centre and the centre of town. It’s a little far away from the centre and a little pricey for Laos standards but still worth it overall
- John (10/5): Memorable stay in Luang Prabang - When we booked a room here for five nights, we thought we'd get a nice room at a sweet little boutique (5 room) hotel with views of the Mekong River. Well, we got way more than that. This place is a gem. It is also a living crafts center that supports local textile weavers by providing work space, marketing, and a shop that exhibits and sells their work. Ock PopTok even provides health benefits! It is a beautiful partnership that promotes fair trade and provides sustainable income for the village women, who pass their skills from mother to daughter. Their products are truly beautiful.
The grounds are thoughtfully landscaped, quiet and peaceful. The staff is super. It's the people who really make this place special. The open air restaurant serves tasty fresh meals while you watch life on the Mekong roll by and enjoy beautiful sunsets. The room itself was clean, quiet, and mosquito proof, the bed was comfortable, the AC ran efficiently and quietly. We would stay here again. It is more than two kilometers from the more touristy part of town where there are lots of restaurants and shops, but they offer free tuk-tuk service to and from the area, so it's really not a problem.
- Naomi (9/5): Magically relaxing In the most peaceful setting - The location, food and the staff.
Waking up everyday to the Mekong river was magical. The view gets better and better. The grounds and style of the rooms are beautiful. I liked all of the recycled wood. The balcony is such a huge and beautiful area to relax. Food is sensational. Perfect spot to watch the sunset in their restaurant. Breakfast in the tree house was lovely. The staff cannot do enough to help you. Very friendly and helpful. Free bicycles and tuk tuk service was wonderful- the tuk tuk service can be busy with people visiting so give them enough notice with the time you would like.
The weaving course was a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Hotel helped arrange a private river cruise for $50- amazing!
We also visited the local pottery house which was recommended- very enjoyable experience.
Overall perfect for solo traveling. My brother joined me half way through my stay and equally enjoyed the stay together. No sun lounger area- a pool would be great!
Bathrooms walls could do with a little tlc
- Sandy (10/5): Peaceful, comfortable, excellent service! - It is a bit off the beaten path, but the best location, right on the Mekong. Staff were busy (it was a holiday period) but always professional, helpful and cheerful. Almost zero plastic on the property and so many great, common sense initiatives to reduce waste - I was very impressed!
- Nelly (10/5): Will hopefully be back again - Not my first time staying here. The place still has a magical atmosphere. A lush garden faving the Mekong. Highly recommend to take some workshops while staying there. The view is so inspiring. A great creative retreat. Book ahead for drinks/meals in the tree house. The restaurant serves good food too. Some aspects of the room could do with a little refresh. Bathroom floor got wet after each shower in the Hmong room.
- Laura (10/5): One of the best villas I've ever stayed in, beautiful decor, relaxed location and gorgeous details. - This is honestly one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed. The villa was absolutely beautiful with lovely local details such as the design and decor of the rooms, and being right on the river was truly magical. Best breakfast setting I've ever experienced, and a serene, relaxed location. I'll definitely be back. Nothing, it was genuinely perfect.
- Claudia (10/5): Magical - We absolutely loved this place. The room we had was just magical. In front of the Mekong, such peace. This is a special place. It is more than just a beautiful hotel it has depth to it. You will learn about Lao textiles and you can see women working at the loom. We took a half day silk weaving class and had so much fun. The rooms are decorated with gorgeous textiles. Every detail is thought of with beauty in mind. The staff were just so lovely also. I so hope to come back. Thank you for your hospitality. My girls and I had an unforgettable stay. Nothing
- Ines (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the scenic view over the river, room decoration, amazing staff, clean and safety!
I would for sure come back again. It leaves nostalgia in your mind. Nothing to say!
- Anh (9/5): Wonderful experiences which I want to keep for myself and my future honeymoon :p -
- Jack (7/5): Good - Staff were excellent and very friendly
Very nice views of the mekong
The resort is very pleasing to the eye.
Very nice spot to relax with a beer and watch the river go by. The A/C wasn't cool.
The pillows weren't comfortable, your head sinks into them.
The bar shuts too early at 9pm.
The food is very overpriced for the amount you get but the taste is ok.
The location isn't very convenient, although I admit this was our mistake for booking a hotel with this location.
There's no fridge in the room, instead there's a communal fridge in the hallway...
- John (9/5): Location, Location, Location! - Have visited and used before for food/drinks etc, but first time staying. Room was cute and had everything we needed - bathroom a little on the compact side, but perfectly useable. Staff friendly and helpful and the whole place is just lovely and calm. Breakfasts good and afternoon/evening dining in the restaurant lovely. The terrace is just such a lovely place to sit and relax/watch the world float slowly past on the Mekong :) As pretty light sleepers we could have done with slightly darker curtains!
- Pierre (9/5): Perfect place for relaxing - Stunning atmosphere and very friendly staff!
View over the river is incredible! Nothing
- Nan (10/5): Exceptional - the rooms were culturally decorated. The view from the restaurant was amazing, especially in the morning at breakfast when you can enjoy the tranquility of the river. don' t miss the tree house and book in advance! nothing, everything was beyond expectations
- Subbaiah (9/5): Superb -
- Charlotte (10/5): Amazing and peaceful - We can only recommend this place. Peaceful, quiet (only 5 rooms), the terrace just for you the morning at breakfast, with a beautiful view on Mekong river. Breakfast was delicious with several options on the menu, well presented as well. We stayed for dinner and the food was also delicious: massaman chicken, fish and mango sticky rice, all very nice. Nothing disappointing for us but a point to note: free shuttle bus stops at 8pm, so does the restaurant. If you go out in Luang Prabang city center for the evening, be aware to rent a scooter or find a tuktuk (10min drive).
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bo (10/5): What a place! - 😮 Jaw-droppingly beautiful place to stay!
See if you can get hold of the Tai Daeng Villa. Unbeatable 180 degrees Mekong view from ur own private veranda. No hotel in LP can beat this!
Lovely breakfast, lovely staff, good wifi, free bicycles, great restaurant.
Ock Pop Tok - East meets West.
What a place!
- Naramaew (9/5): Superb -
- Debraj (10/5): Excelkent experience overall. I wouid stay here again and would recommend it definitely - The property is very eclectic. The bohemian use of mixed fabric and colours is interesting. The food at the restaurant is 5 star. The staff are the best part about this place. Each one was a delight to interact with. Hmmmmmm. Nothing really.
- George (10/5): A beautiful location. Highly recommended. - Such a beautiful location. The cafe is amazing. The staff were helpful, especially Duan. We stayed in the riverfront suite… treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Nothing
- Geoffrey (9/5): Lovely setting with wonderful service, but a little far from town. - Views are wonderful. Staff is excellent. About a 30 minute walk from the downtown. A little far
- Lingling (9/5): Superb - Bed and pillows are extremely comfortable !!! Room is so pretty. Maybe it’s their national holiday they were so busy and one of their staff was not very helpful
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - The most wonderful place in Luang Prabang to have a few relaxed days. The rooms are individual and beautiful designed, the bed was comfortable and the view on the Mekong amazing!
The breakfast served on the terrasse was the best we had in Laos.
The hole estate was built with lots of love for details, many nice places to sit and enjoy the surrounding and the view.
The shop on the property has nice and individual products which are partly made by the women working on site. You can get e free guided tour and learn about the process of spinning silk and other fabrics, very interesting!
To the city center you can get with the free tuk tuk service (if you catch a tuktuk on the streets, it costs around 40.000kip) or by bike.
We can defenitly recommend staying in Ock Pop Tok and will surely come back to this beautiful place if we visit Luang Prabang again! The bathroom is partly already a little bit old (e.g. lime stains), but it was still totally fine and clean.
There was a construction site next to our room (adjected property) so at day time it was partly very loud.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Mickleburgh (10/5): Special place - Gorgeous place. Great decor and spacious room. Private and very charming place by the river. Nicer than many hotels in the area The staff communicated the wrong time for breakfast which led to us missing it
- Isabella (10/5): Incredible oasis - We have been traveling around the world for 4 months and this was our favorite hotel. Here is why. Rooms have great design. You feel ensconced in the local culture. The views of the Mekong from all angles are gorgeous and the property itself is a complete oasis. The staff, especially the concierge Duan and our favorite waiter villa, are friendly and personable. The tuk tuk into town is super convenient we used it daily. The book of recommendations in each room was so helpful, never led us astray and we used it to plan our week. The silk class was a highlight of the trip and the day long class included a delicious lunch. Our meals at the hotel were delicious and a great range of options. The staff was sometimes stretched covering the whole property but it never bothered us and they were always friendly. Also they make amazing coffees at the bar. The garden view rooms are a great deal, because you can enjoy sunset from the restaurant. If you have more budget the Mekong River rooms are one of a kind. Nothing, best spot in LP
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely stay at the Ock Pop. Exceptional service and the breakfast was the best we've had. You order from a small menu but the portions were huge and absolutely delicious. The room was spacious and charming, and had very comfortable bed, pillow and linens. Also had dinner here one night, very good. Nothing
- Robin (9/5): Culture, view and nature combined for a cozy stay. - Even the location is a bit far off the strip and needing a motorbike to enter the hotel was all in perfect. The reception staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were great, beautifully decorated and having the textile center attached to the facility is a big plus. Taking the tour was great. Having some of the most beautifu and authenticl Lao fabric and a tour and storytelling right at the hotel. Food was good and the river view is amazing. Its quite and very natural. Would defenitely come back. The hand soap bottle and the body soap bottle was the same bottle and had to be moved between washing hands and taking a shower. Just a small detail that can be fixed easily :)
- Jemima (10/5): Exceptional -
- Faery (10/5): Nice villa and we would like to come back one day - nice hotel will good view. every room in the hotel representitive the tribe in Laos with the specific color of the tribe. our room has got a nice little balcony with sweet nice garden view. and there's a workshop from where you can learn the traditional spinning or dyeing. restaurant of the hotel is next to mekong river, every guest could enjoy beautiful mekong river view when having the meal. and a cute little tree house for the guest to have nice dinner and enjoy the sunset. Food from the hotel are tasty .they could serve room breakfast which is also a very sweet experience for us.
- Anna (10/5): A perfect stay - a very beautiful place! the views of the river are incredible, comfortable beds, very good Wi-Fi (easily conducted video calls at any time of the day). there is also a cafe on the territory, it is very tasty there! There are very good people working here who are ready to help in everything!
- Micha (8/5): Luang Prabang is an amazing place to visit - We had a great time at this place the location is fantastic There is a construction going on at the moment will be temporary but we got an upgrade for a room which was more quiet thanks for that!
- Natalia (9/5): Superb - Very cute property but there is currently a construction project going on next door. So quite a bit of noise starting early morning and through the day.
- Vanissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vanissa (10/5): Excellent! Extremely relaxing! - The view was fantastic. The staff was lovely. The room was beautiful. I took the Hmong river view room. I enjoyed everything. It was my second time here.
- Isabelle (10/5): A peaceful hotel full of charm - The view on the Mekong from the restaurant is just beautiful and very serene. It's just amazing to be able to have breakfast on the hotel's terrace.
The room was decorated with a lot of charm !
- Bruna (10/5): I definetely recommend this hotel. The room and bathroom were amazing, the facilities as well. The balcony with river vi - Charming, confortable, relaxing and welcoming. Althought they offer free shuttle and bike, the distance from city center can be a bit inconvenient.
The restaurant is a bit pricey as well. But the food and staff are nice.

- Emma (10/5): Gorgeous villa with the Mekong river view and lovely & helpful staff - I was so happy as soon as I arrived.
I was received by a courtyard that was very colorful and full of plants, flowers and butterflies. The front desk staff received me and sat me down, and provided me with a cooling glass of drink while they set up the check in for me.
I was given a room key and bicycle 🚲 for the stay. There is a tuktuk driver who would be there to take you when you need it.
Once I was led to the room in The Mekong Villa, I was so happy to see the Mekong river was in view from the bed and the balcony which comes with a lovely view.
Staff helped me organise the sunset cruise as well as the trip to the waterfall, and made sure to check in on me during the time while I was out.
I was also offered a ride to the airport when I left.
Staff always greeted me immediately as soon as I showed up at reception and answered any questions I might have had.
Everyone was so hospitable.
Everything was super lovely and I loved the sunset from the treehouse.
The room also comes with beautiful sunlight.
The cats on the property are very sweet too. There are a few of them.
The place isn't far from town centre either.
I rode every day into town for outings on the bicycle and ate out whenever I felt like it.
The bicycle ride takes about 12min each way, it was always very pleasant to ride into town and ride home to a colorful villa.
It was truly a great home for a week.
I will surely return here again.
- Yanda (9/5): Pleasing to the eye and unbelievably comfortable, I love day beds and those with a view are best! - Location, views and beautiful simplicity of the rooms (every choice was well thought out) Nothing except I wish the stay was longer
- Catherine (8/5): Fantastic - Beautiful! Walking distance to town. Rooms were nice- clean. Staff was amazing! Food was amazing!
Beautiful! Right on the river with spectacular views!!! Bar and restaurant closed early - 8 pm.
- Kumareswari (9/5): Paradise in Laos - Gorgeous property set in a serene wonderful village with a beautiful garden and overseeing the best view of the Mekong River you’re probably going to get. We stayed in the Tai Deung suite which was very nicely furnished with lovely decorations you could consider purchasing. The bed was pretty comfortable too. We felt right at home instantly here - the staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly, and treated us like family. Their restaurant has excellent food and they have a cute tree house from which you can view the excellent sunrise/sunset with a cocktail in hand. You could probably live in the village and not have to venture beyond it if you need a place to hole up at and do some writing. We stayed for close to a week and felt like it wasn’t long enough. Would absolutely consider staying here again! The suite is close to the river so expect some mosquitos and the occasional insects - nothing some good old insect repellent can’t solve though.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Ock Pop Tok's Mekong Villa is the place I go to relax, enjoy a beautiful setting and excellent food, and be reminded of the cultural traditions that make Laos special. Each room is unique, the beds are super comfy, great showers, quiet and peaceful space, and delicious food. Sengchan and her amazing staff attend to all the little details to make their guests feel right at home. The place feels worlds away from the busyness of town, but is just a short tuk-tuk or bike ride to reach all of the activity in central Luang Prabang. This place is a gem.
- Joshuanathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miriam (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the design and the areas.the rooms with river view are just breathtaking. Everything was super clean and the staff was very friendly and polite.

- Caroline (8/5): Beautiful room but can’t recommend the restaurant - We stayed in the Te Deung suite which was utterly beautiful. it has a fantastic private terrace right on the Mekong, the bedroom was huge with beautiful decor including the amazing hangings you can buy in the shop. It was one of the most original and lovely rooms we stayed in. The free Tuk Tuk into Luang Prabang was welcome as it is a way out from the historic centre and the road is not a pleasant bike ride. Sadly this beautiful place was let down by poor service, and the dinner and breakfast were both disappointing and expensive.

- Kathleen (9/5): A Great Place to Relax - Our lovely balcony overlooked the Mekong River. The view was gorgeous. The room was great, the hotel small, intimate and quiet. There was a nice range of choices for breakfast. This beautiful property is a bit out of town, but offers free tuk tuk service to the center.
- Christopher (9/5): Absolutely loved this place, would definitely stay here again. - Chilled relaxed vibe and friendly staff. Great setting by the Mekong, so peaceful and beautiful. The food is also really good. Our room (Hmong) was comfortable and had an amazing terrace looking over the river where we had breakfast brought to us one morning. Helpful information and maps were provided in the room and the staff were always happy to give recommendations and advice. Only some minor issues with our room - the water from the shower ran onto the floor around the edge of the bath which we had to try and dam, and the fan worked intermittently but we had AC so no biggie. Improvements to the common areas would’ve been more loungers or hammocks and places to laze in the sunshine.
- Bill (9/5): 2 star property with 5 star service. - The staff are the gems . Very helpful. The view to the river from the cafe and room. Double edges sword here. It is far from town centre so it is quiet but inconvenient to travel to and fro from town.Complimentary Tuk tuk mainly to town but not return
- Adeline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ali (7/5): Well designed and peaceful place to stay - Good breakfast choice, and was tasty. We enjoyed the tamarind juice.
Room was spacious and clean, decorated nicely. Large bathroom.
Views of the sunset from the terrace are best in town!
Friendly and helpful staff.
Great that there are free bicycles to use - we used them everyday.
Good restaurant on site too. Breakfast only served from 08:30-09:00 which is the shortest window I’ve ever had at a hotel and while is fine some days, is difficult when you have day trips or travel pick ups at 08:00 or earlier.
The bath in our room leaked.
A little far from town to walk but fine on the bikes.
- Louise (9/5): Superb - The location, the views, the garden, the tree house, the breakfast, the weaving workshop, the room . . . everything! Only one minor fault, the bath leaked water onto the bathroom floor every time we used the shower.
- Marc (8/5): Very good -
- Myrtha (9/5): Beautiful place - Beautiful property to come / stay for something different and a change from central Luang Prabang. Shout out to a staff at the boutique, Vi (Vilavanh) who had the courage to initiate conversation and friendly to me and made the waiting of the TukTuk a breeze.
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Pierre (8/5): Very good -
