Guest Reviews
- EMERSON (10/5): Ok. - Tudo certo.
- Paula (10/5): - Location is close to the downtown area, easy bus connection with railway Coimbra B station. Across the road is the river with a boardwalk. Room was clean. Staff was very friendly, a common room near reception. The desk always manned. I would stay here again. Solo traveller
- Marisa (10/5): - Staff are lovely and welcoming. The premises are older but clean. Three levels and no elevator so if stairs are an issue then you will find this place challenging
- Richard (10/5): - Clean. Easily accessable.
- Manuel (2/5): - This propaty is to old and damege
- Oct (6/5): - There are road works all around
- Richard (10/5): - La habitación era amplia con techos altos y bonitas vistas.
- Jacquelyn (6/5): - Staff was wonderful. Property is older with no elevator, had great view of the river.
- Michelle (6/5): - You can hear every footstep and snore from other rooms. Several floors- no elevator. Tiny TINY rooms.,
- Lillet (10/5): - The double room/single use was comically small but great value for the location. The shuttle bus stop from coimbra-b is literally around the corner, most of the local bus stops are within a block of the hotel, and the historic city area and university is just uphill. Housekeeping was good, the A/c worked well, and the front desk staff were good.
- Sung Hyun (8/5): - Walking distance from Coimbra University and Mondego river bridge..
Many restaurants around the facility.
Not recommended if you want a variety of hotel services.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's a good location at the edge of the old town of Coimbra, near the university and with quick access around the corner from the hotel to the train station Coimbra B via the free green bus (the only bus that is green).
- Amanda (4/5): Horrível - A energia sempre acaba, o WI-FI não funciona direito e meu secador queimou. Lamentável. Pessima experiência
- ym (10/5): - This is located at prime location, right next to the cp.pt Coimbra-A train station. This is so great!
The property has been run by a team/family very proud of their job. Think about the whole street front facing building you own!
Staff is super friendly snd helpful.
The property is old and updated to modern.
I did not check for Wi-Fi.
There is no tea kettle to boil water for tea but the are enough cafes right downstairs : )
This is Coimbra, you really got to be here while traveling to Portugal !!!
- Marilyn (8/5): - Comfortable hotel in an excellent location.
Obrigado
- Adele (8/5): - Gentile ed ospitali, oltre che disponibili
- Chris (10/5): Great location - Fantastic stay with a great location. Helpful staff, and fantastic place for the price.
- Christopher (6/5): - This was a great short notice value stay for us while we were travelling through Portugal. They let us leave our bags while we toured the city and also gave us early check in at 2pm and a late check out by noon by default without having to ask. There was AC and the bathroom was fine with good water pressure. The only unfortunate note was that we found the beds quite hard and less comfortable. We didn’t have any problems with noise throughout the night, although in the morning we could hear lots in the hallways.
- David lagares (6/5): - Muy bien situado
- Maria (8/5): - Most things said about the property are true. Close to a station that is closing in a month. Some rooms mighty dark without proper windows. The rooms are comfortable if small. You can hear everything. It is well located for both sides of the river. It served my purposes well.
- Jamie (10/5): Central place, comfortable room. - Very central to the lower part of the city and right across from the train station. The staff were very helpful. Although small, the room was comfortable and ensuite. The air conditioning worked well. There was a nice view of the city from the window.
- Tomas (8/5): - A small but nice place, you get what you need in a tourism trip, enough to sleep and take a shower.
- Juanita (8/5): - Helpful day staff, price, and very close access to transportation/shops/entertainment were a big plus. Construction noise, dust & gas fumes were intense.
- vanessa (8/5): - The staff was very nice and welcoming. The room bathroom was really small though but the location was great.
- Jolene (6/5): Good stay - Great location next to Coimbra (not Coimbra B) train station. Easy walk to the interesting section of the city. A bit noisy.
- Laercio (8/5): - O Hotel é antigo, como quase toda a cidade. É limpo, cama confortável, bom chuveiro água bem quente.
A localização é muito boa. Perto do metro, do Rio Mondego.
- a (6/5): - Negatives:
my room (including the bathroom) has cracks in the walls and ceilings. Crumbling paint. Honestly it needs to be painted- a feature wall would be nice- just colour or some painted artwork.
TV was static.
There was a desk but no chair.
You could hear other guests talking and walking in the corridors. It was very loud.
Positives
Good location. Close to train station and river.
Friendly staff.
Clean room. Crisp linen.
Air con in room.
- CRISTIAN (8/5): - Gostei
Melhores cumprimentos,
Fernando Jorge L.T. Borges
- Phoenix (10/5): - Was great place to stay for a night or two!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was clean and quiet, the staff was very helpful too. The property location was a real asset too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap, well located but with problems - Kinda hard to describe this place, I’m definitely still very happy I booked it as the location couldn’t be better (as I arrived from the bus station), it’s a very hilly city and most accommodation are up on a hill and you are looking at hundreds of steps to get there ( no matter how good the property is tbh), this guesthouse is definitely well located, at 15 min walk (mostly flat) from the station. HOWEVER, it’s very basic, and he cautious if you are a light sleeper, people ( I’m suspicious that they are the overnight staff but could be guests) talk in the hallway as if no one else sleeps there, I can hear laughs and loud conversations WHOLE NIGHT LONG! Even with my earplugs, good that I was so tired and was able to sleep a bit in the end! So I guess it really depends on what you wajt
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): - Very basic hotel room, but clean. The location was very good, close to everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Buono per una notte - Pro: centralissimo, bagno grande, posteggio a pochi metri
Contro: hotel datato, no ascensore, stanza vecchia e umida.
- SHAOI (10/5): Great location and nice staff - The room is small but the location is superb! And the best part I appreciate is the helpful and responsible staff. Whenever I went in or out of the hotel they checked and confirmed that no stranger came, and provided a lot of useful information, which definitely benefits my trip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Senza infamia e senza lode. Personale gentile.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth - Very good value for money
Very spacious
Very friendly staff
- Lusia (8/5): - A localização do hotel é excelente!
- xiao ming (10/5): Good location. Opposite to the train station. - Good location, clean room and comfort bed
- Patrick (8/5): Good value budget hotel - I stayed 2 nights in an ensuite single bed room with TV and writing desk. The hotel is in an old building, but the room condition is better than I thought. I paid a good rate to book this room. The hotel is located right across from the Coimbra A train station and the bus stop to Conimbriga (Roman ruins).
The two receptionists I met over my stay was helpful. The room was spotless cleaned with nice scent. Room was served daily and English TV channel was available.
- Barbara (6/5): Good for short stay - other than the flights of stairs and the very hard bed the stay was good. Perfect location plenty around and near buses and across from train station. coming in on the bus it is walkable but not a short one
- Verified traveler (6/5): Jw1648 - Great location but woke up every night by noise outside the hotel. Would reccomend for a short stay only.
- sarah (6/5): Cheap and close to town - Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful when possible, but none spoke more than a few basic words of English which made things very difficult. Even when attempting to get keys back and saying our room number (it was required to hand them over every day if we left the building) basic numbers were not understood by most.
Room had basics, but was not comfortable. No stand for shower head, no ventilation in very small bathroom, no shelf to rest anything on anywhere in the bathroom, chips coming off the shower floor. Bed mattress was very old and worn, with springs popping out making sleep very uncomfortable. The only redeeming features of the room were that there was a small desk to work at (although bathroom door opened out into the seat) and air conditioning to cool us down in the middle of the day in the very hot Coimbra city centre.
This apartment was very cheap and in a very convenient location, right beside Coimbra station and two minutes walk from some lovely cafes. But I very much doubt I would stay there again unless I was incredibly strapped for cash.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic lodging with outstanding location. - no real problems. WiFi worked in room. staff friendly. OK place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location - Has all the basics, other than shampoo and that sort of thing. Great location near the city centre.
- Julie (8/5): Cheap hotel close to the train station - Old fashioned hotel, where everything seems to be at least 70 years old, especially the bedlinen. The floor is creaking (old wooden floor), there is no soundproofing, some doors didn't seem to close properly (mine was fine). I had a wooden plank instead of a bed base under my mattress (the mattress was however very good, so it wasn't a problem for me). No breakfast (not needed anyways, since there are a lot coffee shop / pastellarias around).
However, it is very central, cheap, and the staff speaks several languages (which is not often true in Portugal). All in all, it's good, but don't be surprised if you feel like you've just entered an antique shop when you first get in the room! From what I could see, some rooms seem more recent than others, the last floor (3rd) is maybe the last one on the TODO list.
- Jenny & Peter (6/5): Basic hotel near staion - Handy location, first hotel you see when you exit train station. Basic hotel and facilities. But good air conditioning. No elevator, with steep stairs- be mindful if you have heavy luggage. Remember to ask for room at back, so avoid street noises. We had room second floor with views of hotel.
Close to good little restaurants and cafes in tiny streets behind hotel
