Seond and more troubling, When I made the reservation, I received three WhatsApp messages from different people who claimed to be from the hotel and had information about my reservation. They sent a link and asked for my credit card details. Fortunately, I did not click the link and did not provide any information . I wrote the hotel about it, and their answer was that I shouldn't open any messages from the hotel that are not through Booking.com. When I arrived at the hotel, I showed one of these messages to the person at the reception, but he showed little interest. My reservation information must have leaked from the hotel, but it seems that there is no will to investigate it.

I booked this hotel for a one-night stay on our return from Dwarka, as we had a morning Indigo flight to catch from Rajkot to Mumbai. I had initially booked Lemon Tree on Race Course Road for my family (wife and two teenage kids), but four months earlier, I spoke with a staff member named Mansoor at Fortune Park JPS Grand.
I clearly explained my requirement—one room for my family and buffet dinner, ideally within ₹10,000. Mansoor was polite and seemed customer-focused. He offered either one room with an extra bed for ~₹7,000 or two rooms with buffet dinner for ₹8,000 total. Trusting him, I paid ₹3,999.99 (50%) to the Axis Bank account he shared. I didn’t recheck the document later as I believed the reservation was confirmed.
Though I explored other 4- and 5-star hotels, I wasn’t convinced by them as none were Taj-affiliated. I also couldn’t find recent reviews about the buffet or the hotel, but since I’d already paid, I didn’t dig further.
Upon arrival on June 22, 2025, we were greeted by junior staff. Reservations were being handled manually on paper. The reception area and exterior looked dated and in need of maintenance. When I asked about the balance, I was told ₹1,500 in taxes would be due, which sounded reasonable. We were given two interconnected rooms, one of which had a strong cigarette smell. I overlooked it due to the price.
My kids were excited about the pool, but it was open-air, located on the second floor, had dirty water, and was infested with lizards and dust. It was clearly unmaintained, but again, I let it slide due to the deal I thought we were getting.
Dinner was underwhelming: only vegetarian food, 3–4 curries, limited breads and desserts. The restaurant had only 7–8 guests, which matched the low occupancy I noticed earlier. Surprisingly, the same junior staff who checked us in were also serving food. Breakfast was a takeaway bag with 4 cups of tea, 2 fruit bowls, 2 croissants, and 4 potato parathas due to early morning checkout.
The real shock came at checkout around 6:15 AM on June 23. I was suddenly told I owed ₹14,880 more for the rooms, dinner, and breakfast—completely contradicting the ₹8,000 agreement. My taxi was waiting, and I was at risk of missing our flight. Staff called Mansoor, but nothing was resolved. At 6:40 AM, with no choice, I paid the full amount using my North American credit card after being told management would “look into it later.”
After reaching Mumbai, I contacted Mansoor. He now claimed the ₹8,000 rate was per room, and that GST was always to be added—none of which was mentioned earlier. He began referencing terms like CP and MVP pricing which I never discussed or agreed to. Throughout our WhatsApp chat, he repeated the same things but avoided taking responsibility.
I asked for a manual override or executive intervention for a refund, especially since I paid less at Taj Skyline in Ahmedabad just two days before—and that stay was far superior. He said the system had closed and nothing could be done. No one from hotel management followed up either.
Overall, I feel cheated and misled. The hotel’s condition, service, and communication fall far below five-star expectations. As an NRI and North American traveler, I would not recommend Fortune Park JPS Grand to any overseas guests or Indian citizens returning home.
In North America, if a service doesn’t meet expectations, you can dispute charges through Visa or Mastercard. Unfortunately, in India, a lack of strong consumer protections allows businesses like this to operate without accountability. Avoid this hotel if you expect transparency, service, or even basic professionalism.
