• Julia (10/5): - Wir hatten einen rundum wunderschönen Aufenthalt in dieser Lodge und haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohlgefühlt. Vor allem durch Elke wurden wir unglaublich herzlich aufgenommen, bestens informiert und während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts liebevoll betreut. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und gut aufgehoben. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und die gesamte Umgebung einfach traumhaft – Natur und Tiere pur. Ein besonderes Highlight war das süße Warzenschwein, das regelmäßig bei der Lodge unterwegs ist und einem direkt ans Herz wächst. Außerdem haben wir viele wertvolle Tipps für unsere Reise bekommen und auch zwei tolle Safaris wurden für uns organisiert. Alles war hervorragend geplant und unkompliziert. Wir können die Lodge von Herzen weiterempfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Vielen Dank für die wunderbare Zeit!

De lodge is fantastisch, echte Afrikaanse sfeer, ruime kamer met alles wat je nodig hebt (en meer), lekker schoon zwembad en de wilde dieren die overal om je heen lopen. We hadden zelfs een bushbaby op de kamer, superleuk diertje. Als we over een paar jaar weer deze kant opkomen, zal ik zeker weer hier gaan zitten. Niets

Mann kann direkt von der Lodge einen Buschwalk auf eigene Faust machen und sieht mit etwas Geduld auch einige Tiere hautnah. Unter anderem auch Giraffen. Das war wirklich ein Erlebnis. Beim außergewöhnlich guten Frühstück lief ein Warzenschein durch das Resort und bei Sonnenaufgang kamen die Buschbabies direkt vor unser Zimmer . Das Abendessen war sensationell und so viel Auswahl am Buffet für nur 5 Gäste die Abendessen gebucht hatten war unglaublich . Der Chef grillt persönlich und das Fleisch ist von sehr guter Qualität. Alles in allem haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und wären sehr gerne länger geblieben.

• Jariya (10/5): Amazing African Rock Lodge - I had such a lovely stay in African Rock Lodge. From the moment I arrived, the welcome was truly warm and made me feel at home right away. The staff were so kind and attentive, which made the whole experience even more special. The room was very comfortable, clean, and peaceful perfect for relaxing after a day out. And you can check in the lovely restaurant just in 5-10 minute... the most memorable parts was being able to see animals so easily… spotting giraffes nearby was just amazing and felt so unique. The property was generally clean, and I had a relaxing stay in a very relaxing environment. With the wifi I could keep abreast with work matters. There was a hair ball from previous guests in the shower. The bed is a bit laid through, especially at the bedroom side.

• Margaret (9/5): Great place to relax and enjoy nature on your doorstep - Selected because on a wildlife reserve we were delighted to have sightings of both male and Female Nyala and watching a family of banded mongoose from our balcony. We took both evening and early morning walks into the reserve and enjoyed seeing birds and animals on both. Sander(the owner) collected us from the Airport and returned us the following day for the start of our safari, he did not simply leave us to find our onward transport but sought them out for us. We enjoyed chatting about his family's life and the very harsh impact of Covid in South Africa. The lighting in the bedroom could have been better, but it seems fairly common for hotel bedrooms to have rather subdued lighting, does not always suit us oldies.

's avonds kun je tegen betaling mee eten van de braai. Op het romantisch verlichte terras hadden ze een tafel voor 2 voor ons gedekt, echt een geweldige sfeer. • Kathryn (10/5): A real feel that you’re in Africa, both the setting and the food. - Such a gem. The animals come right onto the property. The layout of the complex was lovely, with a welcoming fire next to the braai area. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. There are houses and a road nearby, they’re not intrusive.
• Richard (10/5): People Make The Place…African Rock Lodge has Incredible People - This lodge is in a private reserve. The owners, Sander and Juliet, are incredibly kind, hospitable and thoughtful. All of the little details are considered here…the rooms are spotless and cleaned twice daily; the internet is good enough for a video call if you need it; the tap water is potable; the showers are hot and with pressure; and the evening braai and morning breakfasts are delicious. The room decor is African, and the experience is definitely not a Marriott. If you’re lucky, some monkeys, deer or warthogs may wander by to say hello…or even a giraffe. Sander is incredibly responsive, helpful, and he can take care of any booking needs. The guides he aligned us with were fantastic, knowledgeable, and really take great pride in their care of guests. African Rock Lodge is wonderful value for money…it’s off the charts. Stay here if you’re looking for an authentic African experience and the opportunity to meet some really wonderful people in a charming location. Nothing. 100% wonderful!

Het ontbijt is uitgebreid en erg goed verzorgd. Het avondeten is ook perfect geregeld en erg smaakvol. In de directe omgeving is er de mogelijkheid om te wandelen en wild tegen te komen. Fantastisch!!!!! Er is een persoonlijke service van de eigenaren, ophalen en wegbrengen van en naar de luchthaven, ook als je naar een restaurant of stadcentrum wil, perfect. Wij hebben veel gereisd en dus veel accommodaties ervaren. Deze steekt er met alles ver bovenuit. Echt een aanrader Wij schrijven ook nooit een review maar bij deze accommodatie konden wij het niet laten Totaal niets!!!!

Le soir on a même eu droit au barbecue c’était hyper sympa. Ils proposent des packs avec des sorties, blyde canyon et même dans le Krüger, n’hésitez pas à vous renseigner avant car leur guide est vraiment passionné et passionnant. En plus on peut se balader à pied dans la réserve.

Tiere im Wildlife Estate laufen frei herum. Tolles Afrika-Feeling. Leckeres Frühstück. Zubereitung nach Wahl. Leckeres Braai (BBQ) auf Wunsch buchbar. Zimmer ohne Fernseher. Empfanden wir jedoch nicht als Manko. Wifi-Empfang ist befriedigend, jedoch nicht top.

Location is convenient for exploring Blyde river canyon and also in the middle of a wildlife reserve where you can walk or cycle when you are taking a break from safari drives. We enjoyed evenings by the fire with a glass of wine. The hosts Sander and Juliette are amazing and are going above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Juliet and Sander are wonderful hosts who go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The food was delicious and prepared by them with so much care. The rooms were always spotless, as they continuously took care of every detail. They also helped us organize all our tours and activities in the area, which made everything so easy and enjoyable. • Petra (10/5): Another relaxing stay ... - It is my 4th stay there and I like the place: quietly situated in the Wilderness Reserve where one can do nice walks. It has beautiful cozy rooms, excellent freshly prepared breakfast and they also serve very good dinner buffet, so no need to go out. Nothing, would have loved to stay 1 night more. Or maybe the little carpets/rugs in the rooms. I put them simply away not to fall over them, but not an issue.

The lodge is beautiful, the rooms are super comfortable, and every detail is carefully thought out. Sander was incredibly helpful with helping us planning our driving routes, and the fact that he speaks French was a real plus! We also really enjoyed the braai – delicious, fresh, and varied. We’d absolutely recommend it without hesitation!

We booked a family room and it was probably one of the nicest family rooms we have every stayed in. Our son had a lovely bed and we felt like we got an African four-poster bed experience in a beautiful room. Even had our own veranda and saw a bush-baby in the evening plus plenty of buck, warthog and other animals wandering around. Nothing. Don't change a winning formula !!

Sander and Juliette were great hosts to us, their place is warm and cosy. We loved the dinners under the open air, food was delicious. With AFL being located in a wildlife reserve, we had the chance to meet impalas, kudus or giraffes during our stay and this made our experience unbelievable. Sander organised for us exciting safaris as well in Kruger and in private game reserves. I hope we will have the chance to come back here, everything was perfect and our only regret is that time flew too fast. • Angela (10/5): Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable.fab food - Location was wonderful, a short walk into the wildlife park. Food was really good, plenty of choice and very tasty. Sander and Juliet were excellent hosts. They were happy to engage in conversation but at the same time gave you privacy to relax. Nothing. It was all very nice. I was very happy with my choice.

Having had 5 trips to South Africa I can honestly say this has been our best location & experience. Everything about this place exceeds expectations. The care & attention to detail is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble & the food is out of this world. Julieta is the most amazing cook.

• Josephine (10/5): Oasis of Peace and Wonders - I had a wonderful time at the African Rock lodge as I was welcomed with so much kindness by Sander, Julia & Family! The rooms and the bathroom are very big and cosy perfect for relaxation after and before game drives! They rooms were very clean and the service was brilliant! I loved staying in the pool during then day and relax around this beautiful place. The area is a safe one with lots of possibilities to go for a run and see animals in the wild ! Loved this family owned business that is not too big and humble! They are really taking care of their guests! I loved that. It was a wonderful time at African Rock Lodge! Stay 3 nights and you will be able to fully indulge in this place. I would always come back.

A very beautiful place The aircon is a bit far from the bed, not sure if it’s something that has to do with the mosquito nets but a more closer aircon would be nice. That place is scorching hot
