Enjoyed our stay...... But the pool was not operational as we were travelling with kids so had booked this hotel primary for leisure
- Nomad10599481147 (6/5): Comfortable Stay with a Few Improvements Needed - had a good check-in experience, which was smooth and hassle-free. To my surprise, there was no buffet for lunch/dinner, but the hotel itself looks well-maintained despite being an older property. The room service was prompt, though the food was a bit oily (but manageable). The AC worked well, ensuring a comfortable stay. However, the cot needs attention, as it made noise while sleeping. The breakfast buffet was great, offering a good variety. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with minor areas for improvement, especially the bedding quality. Would consider staying again.

Le personnel n'est pas respectueux envers la clientèle, ils peuvent vous faire attendre 30min pour avoir une fourchette ou un verre de jus. Dans les chambres, la propreté est à désirer et le personnel est très lent lorsque vous les sollicitez. le comble : la piscine est dangereuse, surtout si vous avez des enfants. le carrelage de la piscine est cassé et peut blesser gravement vos enfants, ce qui a été le cas pour ma fille qui s'est ouvert le pied à en beaucoup saigner. Aucun dédommagement ni aucune action de la part du management resté béat face à cette situation, ils n'avaient même pas de trousse de secours et le comble, ils vous demandent si vous n'avez rien apporté avec vous pendant votre voyage ! Le tarif ne vaut pas le service rendu, si tant est qu'il vous soit rendu un quelconque service. La qualité n'y est pas. Très déçus de notre investissement.

Reception area quite grand with glass fronted lifts. Nice food with good choice for Dinner and Breakfast. Very friendly staff. Would stay again.

- 474JohnS (8/5): Comfortable and close to the French Quarter - A comfortable stay with good size rooms and bathroom. The inside of the hotel is open to all the floors. The rooftop pool and lounge area is large with lounge chairs that can be moved around. I took a swim in the large pool. The breakfast has a wide choice with dosa and omelette available. The hotel is only a 30 minute walk or a short tuk tuk ride away from the French Quarter.

Reasonable rates he provide various option for Kashmiri product. Both the owners are descent and customer friendly .Very sophisticated service . Laundry I got it within a day .
- HafodBlueMountains (6/5): Lacks atmosphere - stay in French Quarter of Pondy if you can - Not too many choices of large hotels but this was distinctly average, photos are better than the reality we experienced. Breakfast selection was very limited. Rooms OK. Do yourself a favour and find a smaller, boutique hotel to stay in the French Quarter in Pondicherry as Shenbaga was on a busy road with no atmosphere.

- Broadwaytraveller (8/5): Good for exploring the city - This hotel was well positioned to explore Pondicherry. It has a bar, gym and infinity pool on the roof. Rooms are of a good size and have great rainfall shower with plenty of hot water and strong complimentary Wi-Fi. The bed had a mattress which was thin and very firm. The air conditioning was on the cool side of things. Everything was clean and well maintained. The Poppy Restaurant served a good a la carte menu at reasonable prices for dinner and a good choice of items as part of their buffet breakfast. The staff were helpful and welcoming. I would stay at this hotel again.
- 637deepalis (2/5): Worst receptionist - The staff’s behavior was extremely disappointing, especially the receptionist. They seem to focus mainly on foreign customers. A child accidentally made a small sketch pen mark on their blanket, and they rudely charged us ₹1500 for it. The receptionist was extremely rude and lacked basic manners. We are paying for our stay, not staying for free, yet they behaved as if we were freeloading. We booked this hotel through Travel Triangle, but we will not recommend it to anyone. The way the receptionist spoke was completely inappropriate. If Shenbaga Hotel prefers only foreign customers, they should make that clear rather than misbehaving with their own country’s customers. This is not about the money I paid; it is about the way he talked. It was a very bad experience with the receptionist. At this way, I MUST SAY Shenbaga Hotel will lose its dignity and reputation.
- mysticseeker (4/5): Very sub par experience - This hotel is completely not worth the price that I paid. They claim themselves as a high end Hotel. However, their services leave a lot to be desired. Their cleanliness needs improvement. They have given us torn doubles and torn bedspreads. The beds and pillows are extremely hard so if you are kind of a person who enjoys sleeping on a hard bed, this is for you else, you are going to wake up with all kinds of body aches. The breakfast spread is good, the taste is the housekeeping staff is 70% responsive. They hear things partially and therefore they give you a service that is partial. When we shared the trip with the front office manager, He was not interested in our feedback at all. For the sake of semantics, they have placed a feedback tab on the reception, but they don’t really accept feedback or take criticism. All in all experience at this hotel when I expected a lot more. I will not recommend this to anybody whether it is group or solo or friends.

But the breakfast was exceptional which is why i gave 3 star for my review. Happy to pay the price but looks like the hotel haven't upgraded their interiors in years.

Additional bed that was already in the prebooking was not prepared although we did night check in. Was told will be brought in 10 mins but we had to call reception 3 times and was only brought to the room after almost 2hrs
- Sri (10/5): - I stay at Shenbaga every time I visit Pondicherry. It is comfortable, safe and clean. Breakfast buffet is excellent! The a/c is great especially on those hot and humid days and nights
- ckrish51 (6/5): One night's stay with family - We booked a room in this hotel online. It is a decent hotel located in the heart of Puducherry. The rooms are spacious and clean. We had dinner and breakfast. The food was satisfactory and value for money. However, the lighting in the lobby and, even in the rooms, can be a little brighter. Also, the general maintenance of the property can be better. Overall, a good experience.
- Srini_medishetty (10/5): Elegance - Situated right at the heart of Pondy this hotel has great entrance and well crafted interiors designed to match the exterior elevation. The ambiance of rooms is good with spacious rooms and good comfort. Breakfast option is great with some good continental varieties. Staff appear to be decent and manage ok in English .
- gopalakumars (8/5): Good stay - Impressive interiors, efficient staff, plenty of parking, excellent buffet. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. As a fan of photogenic locations, this establishment is definitely one of them. Take a look at their aesthetic in the photos and you'll see. The view from the rooftop pool is stunning, and witnessing the sunrise from their terrace feels like a direct connection with a higher power. Truly divine and serene, unlike the crowded rock beach on weekends.

- T (6/5): Perfectly acceptable stay. - A reasonable hotel in a good spot outside of the French Quarter. Food in the restaurant was good, room a little tired. The bar needs daylight not neon lighting, and so much more could be made of the rooftop pool. A reasonable pool was an absolute must for us, otherwise we would have stayed in the French Quarter - although the promenade really isn't anything to write home about.

We opted for the duplex room to accommodate the kids comfortably and they really enjoyed the separate upstairs bed 😊. I drove down to pondicherry and was very particular that the hotel needs to have proper parking space for my SUV. As you know, many of those boutique hotels in pondy has issues with parking and most of the time you have to do a street side parking which is very much a hassle. Shenbaga has proper parking and valet. The restaurant needs special mention, the Pondicherry special Prawns and fish dishes were really tasty. The buffet breakfast was also a good spread, catering to Indian and foreign guests. Overall I am happy with the hotel.

- Simon (6/5): Average - We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was spacious and clean, but in need of updating. We experienced a lot of noise - both from our neighbours’ children (the interconnnecting door seemed to have little sound proofing) and the hallway (decor is predominantly tiled/hard surfaces and seemed to be an echo chamber). The bed was very hard. Good hot water but bathroom dated and the workmanship appeared amateur. Wifi was good. The rooftop pool area was spacious with plenty of loungers. Breakfast (included) was predominantly Indian, with an egg station - quality and choice average. Location was ok, a 10 minute walk from the northern end of the beach. In hindsight I wish we stayed in one of the quaint villas in the heart of the French Quarter.

- Suresh (10/5): Nice Hotel - The food, ambience and room were quite good. More importantly my kids liked the room and the overall atmosphere. The hotel staffs were very courteous and friendly too. My only worry to stay at a hotel in Pondicherry was the terrible sight of drunken men walking around and it might create an inauspicious scene to our stay. But, that didn't happen. I think the hotel staffs ensured that there is a neat space for people to co-exist. All in all a very satisfying stay for our family.

- Ak (4/5): Good but not up to the standards - The location of the hotel, facilities available and food in the tulip restaurant inside the hotel are good. Actually the breakfast buffet was very tasty except for a roach that crawled on our table. However, I appreciate the restaurant manager who was courteous and professional.The hotel has a lot of scope to improve in the concierge and front desk services. Staff are not proactive, well trained and welcoming. Overall, it was not great for the price we paid.
- Dale (8/5): Convenient, Clean, Tasty - After checkin we discovered that the phone, safe and wifi were all inoperable. Within an hour all those problems had been rectified. There was a good breakfast offered and the evening meals that we had in the hotel restaurant were reasonably priced and very tasty. The bed was exceptionally firm to the point of painful. Every day when we returned to our room we would have to check for towels, soap and toilet paper, and inevitably we would call to get some items delivered. The service was always fast. The fridge and iron/ironing board were also very useful. The staff were accommodating and also assisted in making onward travel plans. Also Pondicherry was small enough that we could walk everywhere.

- Aditya (6/5): Don't take a room with a shared door! - I had a room which had a shared but locked door with the neighbouring room. I could hear everything that was happening next door. The person in the room would watch TV late into the night at high volume and we just couldn't sleep. When we complained to reception, they didn't even bother asking the guest to turn down the volume - kept saying we will send someone to check the floor. Finally when I forced them to call the guest, he shouted at them saying he won't and he turned up the volume even more. The hotel seemed to be aware that guests complain about noise in rooms with shared doors but still put guests in these rooms without warning them and doesn't have staff who can handle a belligerent guest (my callous neighbour).

- Mohana Rangan (4/5): Visit to Pondicheery - Not a class hotel. They do not know how to manage professionally.l Vasanth Food Nd beverage Manager was quite helpful. Appreciate his efforts in greeting me the medicines that I needed. Whole visit was wash out due to heavy rains.
- clifford (10/5): - Very smart hotel in Pondicherry, easy to get to all the sites we wanted to see, good food at resturant, Only been open 10 months and the staff are still in process of that final polish, which will come soon, as they are all keen and friendly. Next time I visit Pondicherry I will try to book here again.

- Eamani (8/5): 3 nights in Pondicherry - As a relatively new hotel in Puducherry, this hotel is nice enough. I guess the relatively lower price is due to its location Although rated 4-star, service isn't top notch and could be improved. The out door swimming pool on the 8th floor in good enough Rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are cool
- Subramaniam (8/5): Good, but service levels can improve considerably - Overall a good hotel, but did have some issues with housekeeping services, which were resolved by room service. Good food, nice room and a fantastic location
- Arindam (8/5): Nice Stay - Brilliant service, right in the city center. Very eager to take care of their clients. Just one thought though, the rooms could have done a little better with a balcony. Otherwise, very friendly and cozy ambience.
