The breakfast & dinner buffet are very good with a wide range of food to choose. There is unlimited ginger tea or herbal tea available next to the lobby, which is a great for watching the surise.

Unfortunately the hotel rooms desperately need updates and remodels, so does most of the hotel itself. It is not up to date and sadly not worth the price of the rooms.

Les repas en demi pension sont variés, mais le buffet pourrait être de meilleure qualité. La sélection d'alcool est pauvre. L'hôtel est un peu vieillissant dans la partie traditionnelle. Les prix pratiqués ne sont pas en phase avec le luxe de certains établissements de ce type, notamment au Japon

- Mari (9/5): Convenient location for alishan trails and for the sunrise - Right in the recreation area so easy access to the trails. Good breakfast and dinner buffet which are included in the price. They have a shuttle that transports you to the station for the sunrise train, and shuttles between the hotel, visitor centre and bus/ transport hub. The staff were all very lovely and attentive I think the property is overpriced for what it is. I stayed in the historical building which no one told me how to find so I ended up on the other building and a lovely shop assistant saw me and escorted me to the historical building. The room was old and difficult to heat up.

Staff and services were great and helpful. Location is a bit secluded but the hotel provides regular shuttle services to the visitor centres and bus transit area if requested. Shower door has a bit linking. Also we were not able to adjust the room temperature to be a bit higher. There was a portable heater but it was too noise.
- Rohit Ramakant (6/5): Cashing in on the location a bit too much. - Good location, shuttle service for easy access. Half board - they have complimentary dinner and breakfast spreads. Hot water was consistent in shower and sink. Complementary drinks in the mini bar. Sunset viewing deck on the 7th floor of the historical wing. I understand that the hotel may charge a premium for the location inside the park. But the charges are not remotely commensurate with the facilities and room quality. (We stayed in the historical wing- modern wing was even more expensive) The mattress was hard , room was cramped, the heater didnt seem to work. (Called the reception - waited for a long time - eventually had to go for the star gazing tour and when we returned - we gave up and just went to bed) We booked a star gazing tour from the hotel reception. Would have appreciated a heads up that it would be entirely in Mandarin (unfortunately we don't speak Mandarin, which was evident to the staff during check in and tour booking as we had to slightly wait for an English speaking staff to assist us). Check out by 11 am and check in at 4 seems too far apart ( and if you want to extend... it is about 500 NTD per 30 minutes [I don't exactly remember per 30 min or 60 min]). The check in and check out timings are very inconvenient for guests like us who spend several hours travelling to and from Alishan. There is no proper waiting/seating area (there are a few wodden benches thats all) in the hotel post checkout or awaiting the room after check in, so one is forced to either go out or spend at one of the hotel's restaurants/cafes. All restaurants and cafes at the hotel have a minimum 250 NTD spend per person - seemed a bit much specially when there was maybe one family of 4 in the 50s bar and all other tables were empty at that off peak hour. In short, it overall seemed poor value for money. You can get a far superior accommodation with much better amenities at 5-star hotels in Taipei at the same or a lower price point. If you compare to alishan area itself they charge 3 x to 4x the price compared to hotels which are just outside the park gates , these hotels are about 1 km away from Alishan Hotel.

Hebben ons goed geholpen met het vinden van een taxi. Beetje oude glorie. Dinner en ontbijt in buffetvorm. Niks speciaals. Wel veel keuze. Maar de prijs was wel wat hoog voor de kwaliteit van eten en kamer. Je betaalt echt voor de ligging.

- Sorana (6/5): Good, not luxury, hotel rooms with dirty patio. Great location but no hotel parking facility - It’s is the center of National park. Close to all trails,. There is a patio, however the access to it is awkward, and the patio is very very dirty , seems never cleaned, not suitable to step on . I understand the protection of nature environment, not allowed private vehicles drive in the park. However, hotel visitors have to park the car in Visitor Center, then take shuttle bus to hotel. Visitor Center has no reserved parking for hotel visitors, thus wasting times to find a parking space. With hotel shuttle services, drivers are excellent in upload/ download luggages, yet another steps added to check-in and check-out processes. I wouldn’t mind all of the above, if hotel is properly priced. We pay about USD 700 for a room, just not worthy of the price.
- Nuno ( (9/5): Beautiful Alishan - - Nicely located in Alishan close to the train station - Big room with comfy bed - Big TV with all the standard channels - Hotel has its own shuttles that pick the customers from train and bus stations - Alsó have a sunrise shuttle to take the customers to Alishan train station to take the train to Zhushan to see the famous sunrise - Nice shower with stable pressure and temperature that sometimes in places like this on the mountains is not stable - Complimentary breakfast and dinner quite good with lot of variety. Dinner is quite nice since there's not much restaurants open at night on Alishan - There was a heater already turned on to have the room temperature at a comfy level - Wake up call for the sunrise that on our case was at 3.30am - Even that japanese rooms are on the historical building, building feels a bit dated and ask for a refurbishment eg still have keys for the room but cards also given for the elevator - Sound isolation is not that good since we had some noisy neighbours

- Matan (5/5): - Unbeatable location This was the most expensive hotel during our stay in Taiwan (including high end hotel in Taipei). The room was extremely dated, carpet was full of stains, the windows could not be fully sealed, the towels had holes and the whole experience was far from satisfying. Breakfast and Dinner were disappointing. For this price range one would expect something better.

- Joseph (9/5): Still, this hotel is the best option in the Ali-Mountain Forest Recreation Park - The hotel shouldn't put two single beds together to make it feel like a queen-size bed. Especially after I left a message to the hotel to say that we do not accept the room with 'two single beds." The lodger deserves a better dinner and breakfast buffet under the room rate.

- Pfalzhiker (7/5): Beste Option im Alishan NP - Das Hotel ist beste Hoteloption im Nationalpark. Der Shuttle-Service vom und zum Parkplatz ist pünktlich gefahren. Die Speiseauswahl beim Frühstück und beim Abendessen war umgänglich und wurde immer aufgefüllt. Auch das Abräumen am Tisch erfolgte sehr aufmerksam. Bein Ankunft war die Zusatzheizung in unserem Zimmer eingeschaltet. Bei Außentemperaturen von max. 12° C sehr hilfreich. Die Verfügbarkeit der Parkpätze am Tourist Office ist sehr begrenzt. Dies liegt auch an Tagesgästen im Nationalpark. Due Übergabe der Keycard um 14:57 h wurde von der Rezeptionistin zunächst verweigert. CheckIn Zeit war 15 Uhr. Das Personal in der Empfangshalle war im Gegensatz zu den Kollegen im Restaurant weniger serviceorientiert. Das Restaurant ist ungeheizt. Pullover, gefütterte Jacke etc waren erforderlich.
