- Susanne (8/5): Wegen der wunderbaren Lage durchaus einen Abstecher in den hohen Norden wert - Das charmant eingerichtete Hotel liegt nur einen Katzensprung entfernt vom örtlichen, sehr schönen Golfplatz und dem dazugehörigen Strand. Dass man beides immer wieder mit Schafen, Rindern und Seevögeln teilt, hat uns sehr gefallen - mitunter eine kleine Herausforderung, aber ansonsten einfach einmalig. Auch der Blick über den Hafen und die Küstenlinie lässt das Herz jedes Liebhabers mariner Ursprünglichkeit höher schlagen. Das Personal ist grundsätzlich sehr bemüht, schnell und freundlich, insbesondere eine Dame des Frühstückteams (klein, schlank, mit dunklem Pferdeschwanz), ein warmer Dank an sie im Speziellen. Im Hotel selbst sollte man nur das Abendessen einnehmen, wenn man keine besonderen Ansprüche an die Qualität des Essens, seine Präsentation und den dazugehörigen Service stellt. Wir haben an einem von acht Abenden vor Ort gegessen und uns dann mit dem hervorragenden Inder eine Straße weiter getröstet. Wenn größere Gruppen im Hotel absteigen, kann es sehr laut werden, was für Frühaufsteher, die nicht erst um Mitternacht zu Bett gehen, durchaus störend ist.

- Claude (5/5): Sans plus, dommage - Le petit déjeuner L’emplacement avec vue sur la mer est un peu trompeuse puisque l’hôtel n’est pas exactement au bord de la mer et que la vue des chambres est plutôt sur le parking ou les toits .L’isolation acoustique laisse à désirer. Tout irait bien si ce n’était pas si cher car à ce prix on s’attend tout de même à mieux.

- Aimi (8/5): comfortable stay and good resturant whilst staying for a stop off whilst in Scotland nc500. - location was great, Loved the ambience of the hotel check out and morning staff were genuine and engaging Felt on arrival the staff were not so genuine and welcoming as other hotels. He was going through the motions. Resturant service at dinner and breakfast kept forgetting us and not as attentive. Most of all I was disappointed that there was no bagpipe playing! (I was told by a friend it was at breakfast) .

The expensive junior suite was right at the back through numerous and noisy fire doors, totally unsuitable for people with access limitations. Stained and scratched desk, flies in ceiling lights, many chips on paintwork, mould on shower seals. Standard double bed - not large. View of building works - with no warning or compensation. Food was OK but also very overpriced. Sea too far away to be seen or heard from hotel. Service charge applied even if you buy a drink from the bar and carry it yourself!

This is a dog friendly hotel that still gives the humans a gorgeous art deco vibe and lovely big bedrooms. The staff are great and very helpful. This time we were disappointed in the menu and this had previously been a highlight so I’ve knocked off a star but I’d still be keen to go back.

Large breakfast offering, cooked and continental. I did expect a swimming pool but this has been closed for some time. The photos of pool on here are unable to be removed by hotel owner.

We had an amazing welcome from Lexie who showed is to our room and explained what the hotel had to offer. Our room, number 4 was more like a suite with a seating area with television as well as another area with table and chairs. The room had a dial aspect with views to the front and gardens. Again Lexie looked after us during dinner, main course of pan seared sea bass beautifully cooked. Best nights sleep we have ever had our bed was soooo comfortable and the hotel so quiet and peaceful. Breakfast freshly cooked, not buffet style, fresh and superb. The hotel is so restful and you can genuinely kick back and relax, beautiful log fires to keep you warm. Big thanks to Skye for topping up or shortbread in the room, it is delicious. Nice touch having a packed lunch order for our trip yo Aviemore when we leave.

- 668graemea (10/5): MOTHER'S DAY LUNCHEON - First time to dine at the Royal Marine Hotel in Brora and decided to go for Mother's Day lunch. An excellent menu with a great choice of starters, mains inc three choices of roasts - Roast Beef, Pork and Chicken with all the trimmings. The choice of desserts was pretty much to die for but sadly couldn't appreciate any of them with the sizeable starters and main course. Lovely surroundings in the Curing Yard dining room and hotel in general. Service was excellent with friendly, polite courteous staff. All in all a great experience in a lovely setting. Highly recommended and we'll certainly return.

A lift to upper floor would have helped with my disability. However the hotel is a period early 20th century building which was not designed for a lift.

It was a little bit cold, but this could be forgiven as it was -6C outside and it is a big old building. The staff were happy to light the fire in the bar area which added to enjoyment while having a pint.

Loved my haggis starter also beef main course so tender extremely enjoyable The ambience was so in keeping to A Highland Hogmonay! Well done to all the staff It was a wonderful night. Our fellow diners at next table also really enjoyed themselves Will most definitely hook for next year.

- Dr ROGER (10/5): A wonderful stay. - Lovely hotel, experienced staff, great Manager. The hotel has a great atmosphere, used by residents and locals. Breakfast was delicious, so much choice. The bagpipes were played whilst we had our breakfast, felt like we were staying in Royal Residence, lovely addition to the ambience. We stayed for 3 nights, whilst we were there so much snow, lovely walks, my favourite place was sitting by the cosy fire. Well done everyone, highly recommend this hotel. All was great!
- Alexandra (6/5): - Beautifully kept property, welcoming, wonderful location with a very good restaurant, with very lovely and attentive staff in the morning for breakfast and bagpipes. It was a very unfortunate combination of circumstances with it being 1st of January, not much staff on site — but, unfortunately, we were very cold in our room. Perhaps that’s the oversight, but we informed of room being cold upon arrival, were told it’ll be resolved, and after dinner informed again that it hadn’t warmed up, but were told it was fixed. We woke up again with no hot water and a cold room. It was a huge shame, as really everything else was lovely.

- 349alistairf (10/5): Christmas in Brora - A great opportunity to visit my Sister who lives in Dunnet and we live in Bedford. The entire ambience of the hotel and the staff was first class and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Knowles (9/5): Incredible stay and staff - well worth the money for a cosy local feel with hotel appointments. - Loved this well appointed hotel. Just what we were after - great staff, amazing food and a homely local feel. Loved sitting by the fire place with a wine, the staff couldn’t be nicer. We will be back. The bathroom had some pieces from the last guest still present, but didn’t bother me particularly. I couldn’t really fault anything else.

- tboler01 (4/5): Nice facade but not all good - Was recommended by a friend who called in just for a pot of tea and though it was lovely so we tried a 1 night stay I found on a Black Friday deal so ‘thought’ I’d got a bargain but it must have been their pokiest room Yes the place does appear good as you enter the foyer but our room was at the end of a very long and dark corridor. Could barely see to put key in the door Poor seating in this room, ended up sitting on a small low round table with a cushion on it. Other option was a school small style bench which was underneath the TV so useless to sit on and no space to put it anywhere else. The shower was cold even after running it for ages! No TV reception at all, ended up watching a programme on a streaming platform which I logged into my account to access. The room had dark green walls which felt dark and dingy and lighting was very poor. Limited choice at dinner, dining room was cold and a cat walked in and looked quite at home there. Bed was comfortable so at least got a good nights sleep 10% service charge automatically added to dinner bill which I thought was cheeky of them …at least we didn’t go for 3 courses 🙄

- KevinG683 (8/5): A fantastic return trip to one of our favorite hotels in the Highlands - We have been going to the Royal Marine in Brora for over 40 years and it just keeps getting better and better. Its such a awrn, cosy and friendly place. All the staff are engaging and really interested in helping. We look forward already to next years return.

- chrisBerkhamsted (6/5): A curate's egg - The hotel is getting somethings right. The bedroom had been refurbished and was comfortable. The atmosphere in the bar was welcoming and friendly. The food (dinner) was disappointing however. fillet of seabass was over-cooked and dry - not saved by the sauce vierge which was also dry. My wife's wagyu beef burger was no salvation - that she chose it at all was a sign (for those who know her) that she was underwhelmed by the menu. On the next morning the croissants were very good - almost matching the sweetness of the real article in Paris.

- Lorna (8/5): - Spacious room, comfy bed, very clean and decorated lovely. Nice teas and coffee provided! Unfortunately we had to cut our 1 night stay short due to sickness, so can't comment on breakfast but the woman who checked us out was very helpful when we said what was going on. Hard to find staff in the evening, check in we hung around for awhile and was left waiting 15 minutes just to get some milk as noone around. Room lovely and spacious, but think the price was a bit high for 1 night.
