Guest Reviews
- CasieMartin (8/5): Beauty! - Pros;
- The bungalows are incredibly beautiful.
- I enjoyed the chickens and dogs around the property.
- Praia Piscina is a 15 minute walk away.
- You can organise trips to the equator and mangroves through the hotel.
Cons;
- Upon arrival at 3pm I could not find ANY staff anywhere for 30 minutes for check in.
- I wish there were sun loungers for the beach.
- Myself and another guest were both going at the same time to equator on the same boat yet we were quoted two different prices each.
- Variety of dinner would have been nice. The non fish option was the same each day.
- No hot water for my entire duration of stay.
Note, pictures on here are much better than on other booking platforms for the property.
- georginap116 (4/5): Beautiful setting but in need of refurbishment - In desperate need of maintenance and investment. Room was very shabby, broken sink, mirror, tap, door etc etc. Food was always cold and apart from the fish pretty awful. Unable to buy wine by the glass. Very little English spoken. However, the beach is beautiful and the rooms are close to the seafront. Convenient for trips across to Ilheu das Rolas where the equator lies. Road to get there is extremely pot holey in parts but an interesting journey all the same. Was woken to see the tortoise hatchlings head to sea.
- RothburyLady (10/5): Magical experience on the edge of paradise - Our adventure to Sao Tome had been fabulous and then we arrived at the southernmost point - the perfect end to our last few days on this gorgeous island.
The bungalows overlook the beach so it was easy to go for frequent dips in the clear warm waters off pristine beaches, maintained and checked for turtle activity to keep nests safe. Although the roosters were noisy in the morning (just turn over and go back to sleep), there were lovely birds visiting back and front (waxbills, whydahs, parrots).
The rooms have no AC, only a fan and although nets were fitted well, we still needed our own mosquito net over the bed. The beds were large with plenty of storage space and a balcony with a hammock. Curiously, condoms were provided in bedside drawers!
The restaurant served up a lovely breakfast buffet with a wide range of fresh fruit, cheese, home baked bread and omelettes on request. Buffet evening meals were tasty using local sourced fish and ingredients and the bar provided a good range of drinks and wines.
On our very last morning, we asked to be woken should this happen, some turle eggs had hatched and were being released at 6am which a crowd of us watched in absolute awe and amazement. Such a privilege. Gorgeous seeing them swim towards the waves and off they went! The highlight of my holiday.
- 354tl (10/5): A truly unique spot on the island - This is a truly unique spot on the island and one of the best bases for exploring the Equator on the Rolas or the southern part of São Tomé. We've stayed here once a year for the past five years, and it's been wonderful to see the significant improvements in service this year. The staff has become much more proactive, and many now speak good English, especially Andrah (sorry if the spelling is off!) and the restaurant team. While the place retains its rustic charm, they’re steadily upgrading the infrastructure and rooms. The gardens remain as beautiful as ever. Congratulations on the progress, and we’re already looking forward to our stay next year!
- Essi (10/5): Perfect spot - Great value for money! The bungalows were spacious and clean with amazing views to the beach. Perfect location for the trip to the Equator and the boat ride there was easily organized. All in all the staff was super helpful with everything, even with our ever changing schedules for car rides.
The fish we had for lunch was probably the best we’ve ever had.
Thank you for the wonderful experience!
- gemmamI9648MQ (8/5): Beautiful ecolodge on a beautiful beach - The property is located on a desert beach. extremely quiet and resting we could only hear the waves. The lodge is made up of wooden chalets spread across the beach and forest in a beautiful garden. The chalets are very large and comfortable. The open areas well manteined. The staff very polite and pleasant. Besides having a wonderful location the lodge has an excellent restaurant serving different dishes based above all on fresh fish. Great breakfast.
- ffrige (8/5): basic rooms but awesome food and location - A bit rough road to reach it, but the location is amazing, a very peaceful setting right on a clean empty beach. Super friendly staff and fantastic dinner buffet for about 20 Euros. Stable Wi-Fi signal and clean sea water.
On the downsides I would put the very basic/oldish bedroom and bathroom, and also the fact that no one replied to my questions before arrival.
- Y4624WAjoaob (2/5): Stay Away! - Inside the room there are mosquitos, lizards, aunts, bad cleaning and limited lighting. Exterior there are also many problems. Bats make a lot of noise on the roofs, bad signing, bad lighting, some cottages are too far away from reception and restaurant and during the night we don’t feel comfortable crossing all the way.
- Rob (10/5): Good location and food! - Bungalow is a bit outdated but good enough. Location is great and the food even better. Big thumbs up for the chefs! Best hotel food in STP for us.
- FancyTravelling (8/5): Perfect (rough) beach get away - Right next to a (most of the time) rough beach, but perfect for beach lovers since you are really close to the ocean an can hear the waves crashing on the beach day and night. Rooms are nice, bathrooms would be so much better with shower curtains.... Food is served as buffet and is varied, lots of fruit, fish, stews, something for everybody. Staff is friendly, they even replaced the missing hammock in between one day, which made our stay even more relaxing. Nothing beats lying in that hammock, reading a book and listening to the ocean! The only drawback was the boat trip to the Equator (Isle de Rolas). On the way back they dangerously overloaded the tiny boat with 9 adult people and we all felt totally unsafe.
- Christina (8/5): Stress-free zone at end of the road - We had a great stay at Inhame.
After a rather scary drive down south through fog, rain, potholes wet palm plantations at dusk, the lodge’s sign of entering a stress-free zone was only too welcome. Rides to the Ilha Rolas and the walk to Praia Vanha arranged easily. Rhe breakfast excellent and all very clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Bom hotel para ficar no Sul de São Tomé - Excelente localização, boa limpeza, bom nível de conforto, boa comida
- Mario (10/5): - Amazing relationship with the ocean and with the vegetation. Dinner was somewhat expensive but the breakfast was very good and included in the rate
- David (10/5): Family Visit - We rented a car and drove ourselves when we arrived close to Praia Inhame Eco-Lodge it was dark already, best to arrive in the daylight if doing on your own. We had to get directions to the lodge it's not easy to find as the main road gets to be a path, but we found it. They didn't take credit cards so we had to scramble to get cash, which is my biggest complaint. The Lodge is on a very nice beach with almost no one around. We paid to take a boat to the smaller island which is on the equator. Besides seeing the equator we got to see a local village. The hotel served a buffet breakfast and dinner, neither were great but they did the job. If you want to stay on a great beach with hardly anyone around and want to just relax then this is your spot.
- FERNANDO (8/5): normal - Normal
- vera (8/5): agradavel - O local é fantástico, as praias daquela zona são espetaculares. No quarto poderia ter ar condicionado, ou um mosquiteiro para colocar na cama.
- Lars (8/5): - Food and services quite expensive, but a lovely site.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bof...
- Terri (10/5): - Beautiful place. Awesome beaches. Good food.
- Flor (10/5): - Great place, simple but cute
great location nice oceanic beach
- laurence (8/5): - Sejour très relaxant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Erholung in purer Natur.
