Guest Reviews
- Merve (8/5): Great value for money and a very convenient location for our stay. - The location of the property is excellent, and the staff is incredibly friendly. They also serve a great breakfast, and the entire place was very clean.
- Ritesh (9/5): -
- Elisa Danieli (8/5): - Posizione centrale all'interno della Medina a cinque minuti dalla porta blu. Il riad all'interno è davvero bello, camera pulita e super spaziosa. Mohamed molto disponibile e gentile. Colazione top. Consigliato
- Maria (8/5): -
- Matt Crestani (8/5): A real local experience. - It’s authenticity. We did feel we had a real local experience. The breakfast was substantial, provided you like bread in many various forms. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
- Andrej (10/5): - Great mattress on the bed. Location and staff also amazing
- Francesco (10/5): Best staff in the best riad - The Riad Is awesome, but people are even Better. Definetely the Place where to stay in Fes I likes everything
- giamma88 (7/5): -
- Walter (10/5): - Struttura molto accogliente e vicinissima al souk.
- Danni (5/5): - Pros:
- Very good breakfast
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Good location, not far from the Blue Gate. Negatives:
-Very run-down. The riad could be really lovely. But unfortunately, there’s a huge backlog of renovation work.
-The bathroom smells strongly of sewage
-Cold and damp
-The roof terrace is unattractive and poorly maintained
Conclusion:
We will NOT be returning on our next stay in Fez. We’ve looked at two other riads that are cheaper and better maintained.
- Paolo (10/5): Consigliato! - Riad molto bello e caratteristico. Personale accogliente e super disponibile, Mohamed in particolare. Ottima esperienza.
- Pierre Antoine (4/5): Personnel passif agressif - La localisation Le personnel
- Javier (9/5): -
- Anna (9/5): A memorable stay in the center of the Fes medina - Amazing central location and beautiful traditional Moroccan decor. Staying there was a pleasure. Mohamed was the best host I ever had the pleasure of staying with - he made sure all our needs were met and was helpful and gracious during our every interaction. It was a little cold on February nights - bring warm sleepwear.
- Angelo (10/5): -
- Claudia (7/5): -
- Francesca letizia (10/5): -
- Pedro (10/5): -

- Ghada (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - Mohammed was just the best, and the riad (old mansion) was very impressive. I would definitely stay here again.
- Andrea (9/5): Recommende - After somebody showed me the riad, it was not difficult to find it since the house is not far from one of Medina's main streets. Beautiful riad. Good typical breakfast. The bed was hard, but that was not a problem for me. In the single room the shower area needs painting, and there was no furniture for clothes.
- Burak (8/5): Very good - Location is perfect. Inside of place is so cozzy and traditional. Breakfast is okey. There is only sweet things. Bathroom is very nice. They dont give you the outdoor key. So when you arrive, everytime you must to ring the bell. We were stopped at the door twice. We waited at least 5-10 minutes. Room lighting is so poor.
- Ayse (10/5): Everything was perfect, not expensive, helpful staff, nice decoration - Near to all historicals places, helpful staff, clean room Everything was perfect
- Ricardo (8/5): Very good -
- Riccardo (9/5): Superb -
- Silvia (9/5): Superb - Mohamed is a very friendly person who will help you with everything. The rooms are spacious and very clean, thanks to Karima. Beautiful decorated, the Dar is central and closed to everything. Breakfast could be more varied and including eggs
- Silvia (9/5): Superb - Staff is very friendly and helpful , the building is beautifully decorated as real Moroccan style, very nice location The breakfast could include eggs
- Riccardo (9/5): Superb - Great position, friendly staff, good breakfast. Very nice experience
- Lena (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely time at Dar Labchara. It’s a beautiful family owned Riad that is located perfectly inside the Medina and serves a delicious maroccain breakfast everyday. The help and dedication of our host Mohammed exceeded expectations! He was so helpful and kind and made our time in Fez very special. We couldn’t have asked for more! Thanks a lot!
- George (6/5): Good for 1 night, but on a budget. - Location was ok.
Mohammad was helpful and a nice person.
But that’s about it Altough cheap - I would say that the room was really humid, strange nasty smell coming from the toilet and also a moldy smell. We spent 2 nights here and we were happy when we left due to the things mentioned above.
Would we come back? No.
Did we enjoy it? No.
Was it comfy? No.
We paid around 30 eur per night so we cannot complain more, but still. It’s buget friendly, but totally not for everyone.
- Dustin (10/5): Exceptional - Mohammed was the best! Picked us up at the train station, gave us a 4 hr tour of the old medina, and treated us like family - a great experience.
- Jakub (9/5): Good quality, good price - Nice room in the beatiful riad on the heart of Fes's medina. Good food and hospitality from Mohammed. Everything was all right!
- Dicko (8/5): Thanks Mohamed ! - Exceptional care of Mohamed.
Honestly, the experience he brings deserves more than this price.
He help you pay the good price for everything and avoid people asking you tourist money.
Comfortable bed and clean sheets. Let people know in advance that cars cannot get inside the Medina.
- Chiara (10/5): The best stay we could hope for. Thank you! - The Riad is wonderful, in a very central location in the hearth of the Medina. Every ambient is tastefully decorated, with cozy rooms and equipped bathrooms.
What my group enjoyed the most was the company of Mohammed: the warmest and most caring host we’ve ever met, who made us feel at home straight away, taking care of all our necessities and taking every extra step to make sure our experience was wonderful. He ensured that we tasted the local delicacies, carefully choosing various breakfast options, arranging for the best local guide for our tour, advising us on the acceptable price range for souvenirs and services, helping us with reservations, taxi rides and more!
Mohammed, it was really a gift meeting you!

- Mr. (7/5): don't expect fancy dar - the traditional feeling, calm, relaxed google maps say it's 4-star hotel. not really, never has been and unless mayor investments to refurbishment are made, it will never be. as there were basically no other guests and we didn't get keys to get into the property, the manager were rolling eyes even when we got out 8pm as he had to wake up early, which made us feel very inconvenient
- Yuhkoh (7/5): Very good! Unbeatable for the price - Mohamed is very kind and obliging. And funny😊
The riad is beautiful. Room is ok, very traditional. Breakfast is good. Accommodation is well located within the Medina of Fes, in the heart of the city. Good restaurants around (Fnara, Dar Hammad, la Cave...) Everything is in walking distance. Mohamed will do his best to assist you! The access to the riad is a narrow street, dark and bit dirty. At that time some renovation works were also in the way you have to be careful where you step. When you arrive to the Medina by taxi, you will have to walk with your suitcases through the souk for 5-10mn until you can reach the riad. Not super easy to find the first time. But it's also part of the fun! Besides that all is fine
- Ahmed (9/5): Superb -
- Kanami (9/5): This riad is wonderful Moroccan style. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I should leave the riad at 7:00 am and he p - The staff is so friendly and helpful.
- Arturo (9/5): Nice Riad in Fes medina - The Riad was very nice, perfectly located inside the medina. The host Muhammad was very kind and helpful. The room was nice but a little humid.
- Marco (7/5): Good - Mohamed the manager is a very gentle and helpfull person, always available.
- Thomas (10/5): We greatly enjoyed our stay at Dar Labchara. - The location was perfect, 200 meters or so into the Medina. We had easy access to explore the Medina and to get outside the Medina. The two rooms were spacious and ideal for our family. Communication was easy with the staff. Muhammad was great, he met us at the train station, arranged luggage ferry service for us, helped us set up a Moroccan cooking class and a Hammam, connected us with specific vendors in the Medina for various wares, made great suggestions for places to eat that were not touristy, arranged travel for us to Chefchoauen, took us to the tile factory, and gave us a quick tour to orient ourselves when we arrived. The breakfast each morning was delicious and one morning Muhammad got us soup. No negative comments, we treasured our stay at Dar Labchara.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Anafee (6/5): Pleasant - Great location and helpful staff Unfortunately we had the ground floor room which has no outside windows and was very cold. The floor was wet and generated an uneasy smell.
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tobias (7/5): Averall, it’s good, but cleanliness in the rooms needs improvement. - Nice and spacious room in an old dar. We stayed in a ground-floor room, which was more accessible for my partner, but it was also noisier compared to the upstairs rooms, as they face the inner courtyard. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was enjoyable. If you’re traveling by rental car, the location is perfect, as it’s very close to Ain Zleten parking. The cleanliness of the rooms needs improvement. There’s a persistent bad smell, which I believe could easily be resolved by cleaning the floor and carpets with bleach or other effective cleaning products that leave a nice, fresh scent. The room on the ground floor has windows facing the inner courtyard, but when you go to sleep, you also wish for some privacy. You can close the windows, but this means the room gets no fresh air from the inner courtyard.
- Andrea (8/5): Very good - The best aspect of this Riad is Mohammed; he is very welcoming and kind and he always tries to help. The Riad is a very beautiful and ancient building with a little bit decadent atmosphere. Our bed was very hard, I suggest to change the matress; the bathroom of our room needs a total renovation and general maintenance due to sticks from plumbings and no ventilation that generates mold and humidity
- Jeremic (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Great stay! - Excellent location and Mohammed was a perfect host. Traditional decor and a great base for exploring Fes. A little hidden in the Medina, but Mohammed will meet you at the gate, all very easy.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Iman (6/5): Nice place - The room was big and large, staff also was really nice. And the riad was approximately near everything, beautiful Riad We found many cockroaches in our room, but besides that everything was fine.
- Iman (6/5): Nice place - The room was big and large, staff also was really nice. And the riad was approximately near everything, beautiful Riad We found many cockroaches in our room, but besides that everything was fine.
- Luigi (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing breakfast by the host, Mohammed. Very cordial and kind man, available to suit any need. Singing birds in the building. Guests are not given a key to the main door, and when returning you have to wake up Mohammed.
- Burcin (10/5): Center of the Medina. Easy to walk everywhere. -
- Desire (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely owner who took care of us and served amazing breakfast!! I loved everything!!
- Dzhirgala (10/5): Fantastic! recommend taking a tour guide with this riad! - We liked a lot the helpfull staff, location and breakfast. First of all, we arrived really late (almost at 1 AM) because of some issues with the car rental at the airport and it was surprisingly easy to find (we figured out later that this is not the case for other places in Fes). The staff was really nice and despite our late arrival agreed to serve us early breakfast (at 7:30 AM). The breakfast was amazing. Also, we were recommended a very nice tour guide, Abidin! So we had good time exploring Fes and learning about its customs and culture. Thanks a lot for everything! We liked everything. It is a riad so not so much natural light in the room, but this is normal for riads, however there is a nice terrace to enjoy a view and the sun.
- Maroctravel_reisbureau (10/5): Great location + lovely rooftop terrace. View on the medina of Fez. - Great location + lovely room top terrace with view on the old medina of Fez.
- Fagan (10/5): Exceptional - The style of the Dark, the customer service and breakfast was amazing Nothing
- Richard (8/5): Good value with a few concerns - Good location and price. Helpful staff. Bed was very uncomfortable. Room was not serviced during stay.
- Fieni (9/5): Mohammed worked day and night to ensure guests were well looked after and treated like family. - Lovely traditional Moroccan style providing a very authentic experience. Beautiful open space in the interior of the riad, with a lovely terrace
- Sera (10/5): Perfect! - Dar Labchara was centrally located within the Medina which was perfect for exploring some of the main attractions within the Medina itself(max 20 mins away in any given direction). Muhammad was incredibly attentive, accommodating, and willing to ensure our stay and experience was exceptional.
The entirety of the accommodations were clean, well organized and felt honey even tho we were thousands of kms from home. The breakfast we were provided each morning was more than fulfilling and tasty! It defiantly kept us sustained throughout the entire day as we were present during Ramadan. Nothing
- Federica (9/5): Superb - The whole place is absolutely gorgeous. The owner is very nice and helpful, the room are beautiful, clean, comfortable. The breakfast is also amazing!
- Vasileios (8/5): Recommended! - Location was great, the dar is also located in the medina of Fez but hidden enough to be tranquille from the hustle of the medina. Very nice decoration and Mohammed, the Dar keeper, was always attentive to us giving all sort of advice. Breakfast was also quite rich and tasty. The room where we stayed was the only one that was dark without enough windows to the Dar, which made it have a closed-room smell. Toilet also had no ventilation which made it even worse.
Mohammed was very helpful and suggested some restaurants/stores, however Fes has a lot more to offer and you should explore more on your own.
- Damiano (9/5): Superb - Mohamed is a really nice and helpful host. The riad is very beautiful The water in our room had very low pressure
