Guest Reviews
- Richard (4/5): - Switched rooms day one, no warm water, room filled with mosquitoes, New room warm water no TV. Rooms don't have microwave. Bad choice.
- Modesto (8/5): - Good
- Domingo (9/5): Está bien, - Está bien.
- Sterlin Augusto (7/5): Fue regular - La localidad y el ambiente Que los jacuzzis eran sumamente pequeños a cómo se esperaba
- Rod (7/5): A nice, secure place to stay, but they need to at least provide bottles of water. - It was quiet. The staff was great. The food was very good, too. Two suggestions….people, especially foreigners, need pure water to drink and brush their teeth. The only pure water available was from the mini-bars, and those cost the guest extra money. This was the only hotel that I used that did not provide a free bottle of water. Not good!
The second suggestion is to put a chair in the rooms. I know there is not much space, but a chair would be nice.
- Dilia (7/5): Good for one night - Tú Pool and the staff It was careless
- Enrique (3/5): Poor -
- Edward (8/5): - It was a good experience
- Victor (1/5): Horrible. Only the pool was in order and there's no towels available. You ask and they ignore. - Horrible breakfast. Staff arrived late. Did not pay attention to me. Breakfast itself was horrible. Second day I could not eat because there were a few people there and staff was overwhelmed. Had to beg for a cup of coffee. Same as above.
- Ramona (1/5): Bad -
- Yhokarlen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Laura C (10/5): - Good
- Geraldo (10/5): - It's a great place to stay
- Sonia (9/5): SILVESTRE IS THE FAMILY PLACE - The property is beautiful!!! And comfortable, the room for 4 people great , breakfast delicious clean beds we also had a small room at entrance with a couch, and space to leave luggage, the gardens and pool clean , great place to stay if you visiting the area . And you want to enjoy , not closer to the beach 🏖️ Is just all over the DR , lack of attention to the tourist , or their own people . 😐
- Wendell (6/5): - Frontdesk servers were so friendly
- Rod (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and quiet. Tv did not work
O
- Georgina (4/5): - Poor staff knowledge and to much noise
- Styles (2/5): Awful waste of time and money - The pool area was decent I originally paid online and asked for early check in. That request was approved. When I got there, they were acting like it was a problem. I had to show them the email showing it was approved. The other issue was they said I only paid for one person so then they charged me more money on-site in addition to the price I was shown online.
Another issue was the water was turned off when I wanted to shower. So I had to wait until whenever the water was turned back on. That was a huge inconvenience. I was so irritated with this place that I didn't even stay for the two days I paid for. I left after being there 24 hours.
- Frederick (8/5): Very good -
- Jorge (5/5): Passable - Location, breakfast Room
- David (1/5): Bad -
- Ruben (1/5): We got sick, my partner got asma - The location It was humid, there was insects in it.
- Ronald (1/5): Absolutely the worst place in the getto and dangerous - Nothing at all !! This place was absolutely disgusting and very dirty and dangerous. The room had no WiFi or television service and no phone in the room. The sheets and pillows were dirty and smelled very bad that we didn’t even sleep. We needed a place to sleep a few hours and then get back on the highway. We couldn’t even sleep. We got this place on booking.com for one price and when we got there to check in we were charged more for service fees they said. We had no choice but to pay because it was dark and in the hood !
I do not recommend this place to anyone at all . A security gard brought us to the room with a gun. Never ever again will I book on this site. The pictures are not what you see when you get there !!
The motel 6 in the USA is probably nicer than this place!
This is a motel -1 star
Not even a hotel as advertised!
- Chepero (10/5): Thanks to the stuff and management for they professional services and help - Was easy to get to the hotel , is on the Main Street on la romana and basically in the middle of the city
- Dory (9/5): Superb -
- Dory (8/5): Very good - Clara is the best! The food was good and the staff was friendly. The disco is really nice. The hotel is cozy and practical. It is nearby a shopping mall and food places, in a walking distance. Overall a great experience. The receptionist staff wasn't that friendly.
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (9/5): Superb -
- Gholam Reza (2/5): - There was no service. The receptionists were unfriendly and not knowledgeable. My key stopped working after one entry. I had to go to the reception each time to have it reset 5 times in two days. Last night at 23:30 I could not unlock the room and nobody was in the reception to help. It took me about 20 minutes to find a security guard to open the door. There was no hot water, and the toilet was not filling. The water kept running the whole night. Even when I told the receptionist no one came to check. The internet was awful. I am not going back and I would not recommend it to anyone. They sent me a message asking me to give them a good review. The other good reviews are probably becuause they have asked for. The only positive point is their restaurant and the nice lady who serves there. Otherwise it is waste of money.
- Catherine (8/5): It was good - I liked the hotel. Didn’t love the location. It was comfortable and good breakfast.
- Christopher (8/5): - Not the best area to be able to walk to points of interest. And the area around the hotel is very dirty and right off a main road but inside the property the hotel feels resort like with a garden and pool with a swim up bar. Pool was amazing and seating was conformable. And breakfast was great I recommend combo 4. I didn't like the rooms so much because the showers take about 4mins to heat up. Also the shower doesn't have a door/curtain to block water from getting all over the floor so bring shoes to walk around in bathroom. The hotel keys were the most annoying thing about the hotel. They barely work to the point that the staff told us that every time you come back to the hotel to bring it to them to reprogram the key. Even after it still a struggle to get in the room.
- Roman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jhon (2/5): - Te cobran mas impuesto cuándo llegas, y la fotos esta muy editadas.
- Babak (1/5): Bad - Nothing good Every thing
- Thomas (2/5): - We booked this property six months in advance because we were going on a cruise. We got to the property and they didn’t have a reservation. Everybody that was walking in the door had reservations and they had nobody’s reservation three hours. We spent there they transferred us to another Hotel they found out we paid for it in advance. It was an awful experience.
- Gordon (1/5): Bad - never got past the lobby of the hotel We had a confirmed booking. After travelling on 3 flights and overnight we arrived at the hotel and they told us they were overbooked. The suggested the Hlaibut Hotel and phoned to see if available. It was so we went on line and booked there as we were already at 4PM. I had our two married kids and spouses with us. It cost us $175 US due to Silvestre being overbooked. Booking was trying to get us back the difference in cost but so far nothing has happened even though Silvestre apparently agreed. I am sure it would have been a nice hotel if we were able to have had the booking we reserved
- Bob (8/5): - Property was well kept albeit a bit simple, but a good value for the price. Food is ordinary, but ok for a short stay. 10-15 min taxi from the cruise port. Not near the beaches, so if that's your thing, look elsewhere. Also helps to be bilingual
.
- Bronfman (8/5): Agradable - Excelente La atencion
- Parnel (7/5): Good -
- kathryne531 (2/5): Horrible Customer Service - Horrible!! Showed up at 9:00pm after booking this hotel in October of 2023. Two couples in the lobby had been there for two hours waiting for their room because they couldn’t find their reservation. They also couldn’t find our reservation either and were fully booked. They lied to our travel
Agency and said we didn’t show up. We had to pay for a cab and a new hotel because of this hotel. Another bus showed up after us- their reservations also lost. Horrible
- Bradley (6/5): - the area around the hotel did not look safe.
- Johannie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johannie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Westil (10/5): - I had a great time staying there, great staff and good security. I would highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to come back.
- Bautista (9/5): Superb -
- Sue (6/5): - This property is very good for a one night stay if you are boarding a ship in the nearby port. They have a pool and a restaurant and you don’t need to leave the compound. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Remigio (10/5): - Very pleasant and great value
- Rob (10/5): - By far exceeded my expectations. The staff was great and provided top notch customer service. I am planning to return to this hotel next for an annual trip with my cousin.
- Donald (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff and great food.
- Misael (1/5): Absolutely horrible, not hot water for a place that costs me over 11,00 pesos over 200 dollars after I was charged tax w - Only the location Dirty very dirty room
- Rod (9/5): Superb -
- Liriano (7/5): Good - It was clean and the Staff There was not telephone in the room. If you want to order something it has to be only going physically to the bar/restaurant or reception. The towels in the room were very old, it could be seen the color ripped off. No remote control for the tv, manually switch on and off.
- Miledys (2/5): Will never return there - The rooms need updating. Buy new Tav’s that work Bed, rooms, ac,
- Omar (10/5): - Best
- Hadelin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ramon (3/5): Really frustrating but - Front desk and workers are amazing Almost everything it’s really bad
- Radhames (7/5): Good -
- Henry (10/5): - Hotel is conveniently located at gateway to Romano, the rooms are large, clean and modern. Bed is comfortable. The pool is awesome with good music, food and drinks poolside. All hotel staff was amazing, friendly and professional including front desk, pool, cleaning, restaurant, security etc. Staying at the hotel was a highlight of a 12 day vacation in DR. I speak no Spanish and yet had no problems here.
- Raul (8/5): Very good -
- HollyM932 (10/5): LaRomana stay - We were in LaRomana for 1 night before checking into our resort. Considering the area, this hotel had barbed wire around the perimeter. The room was "sparse" ( no big deal), had a decent pool, and restaurant on site. Our stay also included breakfast, which was a plus.
- Lopez (3/5): Borderlining on horrible. The staff made it bearable. - The food was okay, the staff is friendly and is very quite. Don't go to this hotel, the people working in it might be nice but that's not enough. They do false advertisement to charge the customer and they won't even give you water to drink without charging you for it... Water people, let that sink in.
I arrived and they tried to charge me US$15.00 dollars for "early check-in". I am accustomed to stay in hotels and resorts and never had I heard anything like it. I didn't pay for it by the way.
Once I did the check-in they told me that even the water was going to be charged if I took it from the mini-bar and this is the part of the false advertisement, they have a small basket right next to the fridge and in it a small bag of peanuts and a menu with a very nice and decorated presentation.... They charged me for the peanuts that are NOT in the mini-bar but the front desk "forgot" to mention it, they even went as far as charge over the amount that was listed. Listed price was RD$50.00 but they charged RD$75.00.
Be aware, they won't have the prices for anything from the mini-bar on the actual menu, you can only figure that out once you call the front desk from your cell phone because they don't have phones inside the rooms to communicate with anyone.
They will also charge you from US$10.00 to an entire day if you have to do late check-out for whatever reason.
They will make you sign a paper saying that they won't be responsible if anything of value goes missing from the room.
They didn't sweep the floor and I found hairs on my bed.
The shampoo and conditioner bottles had not been changed in a really long time, the conditioner looked almost moldy.
This is not worth it. A local told me it used to be a very nice place, not anymore, that's for sure.
- Meander668490 (2/5): Horrible, don't go... Ever - Don't go to this hotel, the people working in it might be nice but that's not enough.
False advertisement, they charge even for the water. Go to the Google review and see the horror. Not worth it....
- Hamilton (8/5): expensive tho, food and drink - staff location
- Kanonkicks (5/5): Passable - Location *Please read this* When you book a room you will have to pay in person. Please bring local pesos because if you use a debit card they will charge an additional 18% from their machine. That's not included in the total from booking and I don't want anyone else to have money stolen from them. Mine was $18.75 which isn't too bad but it's the fact that it wasn't another factor for tourist and the staff placed the blame on booking.com to give a refund. Poor customer service.
- Wendy (2/5): - There was no hot water in our room. We had to take cold showers. the mini bar was stalked with one bottle of water. There was only one towel in our room as well. We had to call the front desk several times. We went to the restaurant for breakfast and they only had one thing on the menu, and that was grilled cheese sandwiches for way too much money.
- Michael (5/5): Passable -
- Anonymous (10/5): comfortable - the care the location
- Roberto (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (9/5): chilling - coool nice
- Roman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ivelisse (10/5): Exceptional -
- PEDRO (6/5): - Room have no sofa or chair, room was very small about 9x 8 room, soap applied was as small as a candy (a sign of poverty, from the owners). Employees were caring, but very little they could do.
- Pavel (3/5): Poor - The staff is very unprofessional
- Carlos (2/5): Horrible - Incomible, comida de un nivel de higiene no admisible Todo
- Eric (10/5): - It was really nice
- Rosmeri (4/5): - they said check in time was 3pm
and wanted to chatge me for early check in when website says 2pm and i got there 2:30pm.
i have stayed there once before and its convenient,right at the entrance of town,also breakfast should be at 7am because people wants to start the day early and they start serving breakfast 7:30am.
- Alan (2/5): - For being one of the more expensive properties I expected alot more. Check in was a diaster with so much confusion, With so many rooms available, was put in aroom facing the parking lot. Only 1 towel in the room. Bar service was good by pool, but drinks over priced. Told mini bar was complimentary, the after consumed items, was told it was not part of the Expedia price and had to pay. They admitted to the mistake, but had to charge us?? Check out was long as well. Not recommended!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not as advertised! The room and hotel amenities were overpriced
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I did not like anything at the Hotel They services was every poor.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - When we first walked in the rooms (we booked 2 rooms), they smelled like raid. As if they put a whole can a raid into each room to kill bugs. I told the front desk clerk and asked to be moved. We were told, they had no more rooms available.
The second day there. I noticed tiny blood on the bed and my skin was itchy. I think I saw what looked like a bed bug. Let just say once we got home, I didn't even go in my room with my suitcase, and I removed all my clothes, even the ones I was wearing before walking in the house. I put the in the dryer on high heat for 3 hours. I also took at least 2 showers before hugging my kids.
Overall it has the potential to be a great hotel. I has great outdoor space. The restaurant, pool, Lounge area, and staff were great. But, they have to get rid of their bug problem. I will not go back there.
- Andrew (4/5): Not good - Horrible stay dirty room would not clean it unless you asked. No clean towels
- Verified traveler (10/5): - i liked everything, all the staff were very friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel bathroom needs to be cleaner and windows need to be able to close correctly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms need clean sheets and better clean bathrooms.
- LynneRita (10/5): A hidden treasure in La Romana! I had an amazing week! - Hello,
I was a guest at the hotel from June 7th to June 15th 2019 in Room 304 (view from the pool - mini kitchenette) with my partner.
Service, Room, Food and Value = Excellent!
- Relaxing;
- Comfortable;
- Clean;
- Wifi;
- Air conditioning work well;
- Hot water;
- The staff is amazing;
- The food is delicious;
- Good wine selection (not included - France, California, Italy etc...). Our favorite was Mouton Cadet, France;
- Safe - lots of security;
- The hotel is a short walk from the Multi Plaza (shopping center);
A special *Thank you to Angel David* (employee at the bar and restaurant). He is the best employee! He and the Manager organized a special evening and a dinner for our last day.
A special *Thank you to Maria*. She works very hard to make sure the hotel grounds and the rooms are clean. The staff works very hard to maintain the hotel grounds which is pristine.
I had an amazing and memorable stay. I will definitely come back. I cannot provide any negative comments.
* Please remember to tip. The employees are working very hard to please you.
Keloke - KLK (A spanish version of Whats'Up) & Cheers!
- bruce (8/5): hard bed ,and you have to pay for breafast - the hotel is nice but the bed was very hard, I like soft beds, also they started charging for breakfast
- ashjo1104 (8/5): Comfortable and accommodating - After a week long stay I can say that the staff worked with our large group to accommodate us as much as possible. The room I had was big and comfortable to spread out in, hot showers, and a mini kitchenette with fridge. I understand that they recently went under new management and the staff was friendly. The bar only takes credit card or pesos so be prepared for that. The air condition worked extremely well; So well I had to turn it off a few times to warm the room up. The pool was nice and clean. The hotel is a short walk from the Multiplex (walk in a group of you do this). Overall, the stay was nice and the staff did a great job. Our group will probably stay here again on our future trips to La Romona.
Oh and I can’t forget our morning greeters (The two pups)! :)
- tedenrn98 (10/5): Clean and Comfortable Place to Stay - I recently stayed here for a week with a large group of people. The rooms were clean, cool, and comfortable. The TV and wi-fi worked; I did have hot water although I did have to let it run a while to get it. I had a mini-fridge which I stocked and it kept my drinks nice and cold. The pool area, bar area, and courtyard were great spaces for our large group to hang out and relax. The staff was nice and very accommodating and they worked very hard to make this stay a great experience. As previous reviewers stated, this hotel is under new management and I felt like the service got better and better every day. If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not it. But, if you are looking for something clean, comfortable and affordable this would be a great place to consider.
- I6357IK (8/5): Relaxing and comfortable week - Just finishing week long stay and I’ve been very pleased with the hotel. Our room is always clean and we’ve had no issues. The grounds are well kept. I’ve enjoyed to bar and pool. New management has been very accommodating. We’ll be back again.
- saluki112012 (6/5): Looks Can Be Deceiving - We stayed here a week and waited for the service to improve, but repeatedly waited an hour or more for the meal we ordered. The staff are friendly, but there must be only 1 person in the kitchen prepping and cooking.
- bruce (8/5): good stay but some problems - the hotel was nice but I had a problem with my television they would bring one so they changed my room, later that day the television in the new room went out, you could hear it but no picture this is my second visit and the last time the phone would not work.
- Angela (6/5): - The hotel overall was ok. Nothing to be excited for and nothing to absolutely hate. The staff was unfriendly. Our key deactivated twice everyday we were there. The pool was nice but no towel service or any service for that matter. I have stayed in other places far better for the same price without the little hassles.
- Ignacio (6/5): Hostal Sylvestre - Hotel is good if you are in transit to somewhere else and don't want to drive by night. In general is good to spend the night an no more. Have the basics. wifi signal in my room was't present. The TV fail the last night. Hot water wasn't easy to get on the shower. The area is no good to walk, there is Multiplaza like 500 mts but it is recommended to go by car. I was aware I was picking a 3 star, but I have been in better places with this stars.
- nathan (4/5): - The bed linens smelled and had stains. Room was very dirty. Closet only had 3 hangers and I had to walk (because the room phone did not work)to the front desk to ask for an iron. The bathroom smelled like raw sewage the whole time and not a single drop of warm water to shower with.
- enunez31 (10/5): Simple Elegance, Affordable Option - In a city, you can find many hotel options. When you go to a hotel with no distinctive elements or amenities and prices are low, is a cheap option.
When you go to a hotel as Hostal Silvestre, with simple elegance, a minimalistic design, good quality amenities and good prices, you found an affordable option.
I have stayed here several times for work, and every time I feel respected, well treated, a clean and comfortable room, and good amenities.
Strongly recommended for business Travellers and simple 2-Day Vacations!
