- Anthony (6/5): Simple, cost-effective overnight stop with one problem. - Checking in and dinner The main problem with room 10 was the extremely noisy floor in Room 16 above, which woke me up every time somebody walked around - five times during the night! I reported this to the Maître D', who said he would get maintenance to check it.
- Simon (8/5): Good value, but noisy neighbour. - The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar was good and my room was clean and comfortable. The noise from the room above was very loud- footsteps.

- Lawrence (9/5): Nice, family run hotel with brilliant food - The food was excellent Everything was fine
- Ivan (10/5): Recommended for a break in Retford. - Freshly cooked full English delivered with a smile. Excellent location just minutes from the town centre. Ample parking plus extra parking next to our room. Can't think of anything.

- john (10/5): very good stay. - frendly staff very good breakfast. nothing
- Darren (10/5): - Nice little rooms separate from the main building Bar staff in the morning looked like they didn't want to be there, I get it but it's still a service industry.

- Helen (8/5): Grand looking hotel with comfortable rooms in convenient location. - Very clean. Enormous bed. Nice bar area. Difficult to find the door for late night entry. Kettle couldn’t be unplugged and cord wasn’t long enough to pour water out safely.

- Annie (6/5): - Location and price Bathroom needs updating
- Thomas (8/5): - Parking limited, I had problems
- Steven (10/5): - Very friendly staff and a real homely feel. What a lovely place. Thankyou for making our stay so very nice Nothing
- Lynne (9/5): - Comfortable and clean ..exactly what I need for a night or 2 near family in the area . The bar closes far too early ..😏
- David (7/5): - Room - good view.
Bed - very comfortable No hand holes in the shower
- Edwina (2/5): -
- Neil CJ (5/5): Clean Room Value for Money - Clean room. A Good Location . Ample parking. . bed was smaller than expected and floor boards creak a lot when moving around . You could hear other rooms occupants.
- Kathleen (5/5): Noisy floorboards ruined sleep. - Room ok, bed ok Every single floorboard creaked when people in other room moved about, basically you could hear everyone else's movements. And the bathroom sink in No.17 was cracked.
- Paul (10/5): -
- John (8/5): All OK - Good parking cheap bar N/A
- Claire (6/5): A bit disappointing - The Indian restaurant and the bar are great.
The bed was comfortable and clean. The room we had in the 'stables' was tired and in need of attention. The shower was hot and had okay pressure but the set up made it hard to stand under the water. It took me to ask twice to get two towels for two adults! The sink that didn't drain didn't get sorted during our stay. The room was also really noisy and both mornings we were woken by the noise of people upstairs moving around before six am !
It just feels a bit overpriced for what you actually get.
It definitely feels like contractors digs, at normal hotel prices.
- john (8/5): -
- Simon (7/5): Really good value accommodation - Very friendly staff, and the barcode was excellent !!
- Overton (7/5): -
- Kristina (5/5): A bed for the night. - Well located for the wedding that we attended.
Towels were a good size nice quality.
We had a family room for 2 of us and it was a good size with a super king bed.
There is an Indian restaurant on site but we were the only guests eating there.
Staff were friendly.
Plenty of parking. Clearly the building needs a lot of investment to restore and repair it. Hasn’t been decorated in a long time and it is crying out for a facelift.
There was a constant creaking of the floor in the bedroom.
Breakfast is quite basic . No buffet.
- allan (9/5): Highly recommended for a break ❤️🔥 - It had everything we needed , food 🥘 on site ❤️🔥 Nothing ❤️🔥
- Lewis (10/5): Excellent value for money. -
- John (8/5): Satisfied our needs without any issues - All good
- David (10/5): Very relaxing stay - Clean tidy very friendly staff
- Courtney (7/5): Nice and chill - Staff are lovely, room is great ! Lovely area People above my room were very noisy Saturday night kept me up a lot of the night. Other nights was lovely and quiet

- Nicola (5/5): Awful but with potential if only someone would spend the money to make this hotel better. - The location was perfect for our visit, and the staff were extremely friendly. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable. This building has the potential to be beautiful. However, the rooms are very tired, the bathroom was awful. There are holes in the wall and unfinished repairs, holes in the bath, a broken toilet seat and a door that has seen better days. The cleaners should also be advised to clean the skirting boards which were thick with dirt. As for the resident pigeons who are definitely roosting in the attic (not outside in the trees!!) kept us a awake scrabbling about and calling to each other from 4am 🥴. The radiators then turned on at 5am and knocked so loudly we thought someone was at the door, and did a poor job at heating the room. The corridor upstairs smells damp and the carpet on the stairs has seen better days.
- Salim (9/5): Short - Excellent No drinking water
- Platinum (3/5): I would not book again! - The Hotel is extremely dated with extremely dirty carpets in the rooms. I would not book this for staff again.
- Laurie (7/5): Adequate - Main issue was room was very noisy. Could hear people walking around thier rooms as floor boards creeked so loudly. Pipes were also very loud when other rooms flushed their toilets. See above
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely clean room, staff are exceptional, so happy to help in any way.
Definitely will be back 😊 N/A
- Darrell (8/5): -
- James (7/5): straight forward and trouble free. - The staff were pleasant and helpful. I very much enjoyed my meal (thai green curry) which they made "hotter" on request. There were plenty of parking options. Power sockets were dotted all around the room allowing a lot of flexibility. I was staying in "the stables" which I would say were fairly "basic". Nothing wrong per se, but maybe a little dated. The main issue was that it was *very* warm so I wasn't all that comfortable, but then most places are no better...
Even though my window had to be left wide open, I did not experience any noise as I was quite set back from all the local roads and the main hotel.
The TV was a bit old and small, but it worked, which is better than I can say for other hotels.
The shower did not have the most straight forward mixer requiring the odd urgent retreat and adjustment..
For the most part. There was nothing I would actually complain about.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceeded expectations thankyou. Ignore other review stayed at two hotels. Review re wedding was - Excellent hotel nothing to dislike
- Jon (7/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): - We stayed in the converted stables and the room was spot on and excellent value for money. We didn't eat but there but the bar was great and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back and definitely recommend booking and staying there.
- IAN JAMES (9/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Great for what I needed - It was very clean. Lovely hot shower. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. bed was comfy
- Emma (6/5): Basic - Liked the privacy of staying in the stables block.
Able to get drinks in bar are and sit outside in the garden Continental breakfast was very poor and consisted of only a bowl of pre poured cornflakes and 2 pieces of toast for £8.99
No hairdryer in room had to go and ask and no ironing facilities even though I had private messages and they confirmed that they did have ironing facilities.
- Janet Alice (4/5): - Fair Air-conditioned event hall.
- Maria (10/5): - Excellent hotel Wedding party father of bride in seperate hotel.. dissapointed as when booking direct with hotel phone call, was asked names of wedding party. As a father I expected to be able to spend the night before wedding, close to my daughter.
- Christine (3/5): Would only consider visiting mid-week. - Location. There are no facilities if you check in on Sunday for Monday business meetings. No bar or restaurant. The place seemed to be deserted after 6:00pm. The breakfast was poor and overpriced. Having one appeared to be an inconvenience.
- Ian (6/5): Priced well but room needs some small details to be improved ( mattress/pillows/ - Location to venue Room bed poor
- Karen23 (3/5): I attended a party which was very good but the quality of the room and poor breakfast I was not good - Friendly staff and location Poor condition of the room
Uncomfortable bed
No hairdryer
Cold breakfast
- Patricia (7/5): -
- Hilary (6/5): - Breakfast, location.
- Gavin (7/5): - Plenty of car parking.
Nice bar and restaurant area
Good choice of food
- The_Mackers (10/5): Spot on - Price . Rooms are functional and clean . Owner is amazing and staff are great Nothing.
- alan (9/5): - Nice rooms friendly staff Nothing
- Sean (10/5): -
- Col Taylor (8/5): We had a lovely stay, looked after by great people, in adequate accommodation. - The friendly staff were phenomenal. Despite being really busy preparing for over 200 guests for Christmas lunch nothing was too much trouble and they took time to look after us. We had two breakfasts there and an evening meal, and all were really excellent. The accommodation in the stables was a little 'tired' but warm and comfortable. The exterior of the main building definitely needs some TLC.
- Katrina (7/5): Restaurant excellent but didn’t like being locked out the main building/reception/breakfast area. - The Indian Restaurant onsite was excellent The family room out in the stable block was very noisy (the people upstairs very noisy!, creaky floorboards, lots of doors slamming, people directly outside our room talking/smoking etc. We woke early and therefore wanted breakfast earlier, but the main house was locked, lights were off and no staff about. So, we had to leave without breakfast sadly (as no flexibility with their timetables)
- Colin (10/5): - Great venue and a family who really care about their business
The food was some of the best Indian food I’ve tried and the venue and rooms spotless Nothing
- john (10/5): Very enjoyable restaurant very good. - Staff very friendly bed and breakfast very good. Nothing.
- Nigel (8/5): Easy, clean and comfortable stay with good staff service. - The room was tidy and comfortable with good facilities, I have stayed a few times and not had an issue The rooms could do with some modernising to bring up the standard such as larger TVs and lighting but these are minpr issues
- Sarahlou2685 (8/5): Lovely place - Lovely food and area very friendly staff Was bit out dated could do with a bit of an modern revamp
- Hilary (7/5): -
- allan (5/5): It was ok but wouldn’t stay again - The location was great and we had food in the afternoon which was very tasty. The evening in our room however was not so good. It sounded like a herd of cattle where in the room above us and it lasted most of the night Quiet time would of been good
- justin (5/5): -
- Mike (9/5): Loved it. - Fantastic food.
Room was surprisingly good.
Excellent staff
- Miffy 333 (7/5): Great location for walking into Retford - Great location. Nice bar. Great curry restaurant. Lovely helpful staff. Hot water and a proper bath. Nice big room in the main house with settee and chairs. Comfy bed. Room was cold, very dated building, needed some love and money spending on it. Cheap stay though.
- Loretta (6/5): - Location perfect for us. Had a meal in restaurant on our second night and it was superb. We had the peppered steak pie that was to die for and a chicken burger that was great too Bed very uncomfortable. Room very tired and in need of TLC. Heating was on at the wrong times.
- Trevor (9/5): -
- medwyn (3/5): Awful . Worst place we have ever stayed. - Had no breakfast The dirty pillows, mattress and quilt. Dated poor furniture. Cold room .
- Andrea (5/5): Lovely family weekend, comfy beds, and great breakfasts - Lovely bed, spacious room, great breakfast Shower did not work, however bath did. Decortion tired, missing paint, no USB charging points.
- Julie (8/5): - Lovely clean large room in the annexe. There was noise above. Someone walking about which disturbed our sleep
- Adlington (7/5): Great staff and food. A good value hotel. - The hotel staff were without exception excellent; warm, friendly and welcoming. We had an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel, both were very good and very good value. The Friday night curry was exceptionally well cooked and tasty.
The hotel inside is well presented and looked good with the Christmas decorations going up. Our bedroom was clean, comfortable, but a little tired. The hotel's exterior needs some work.
However, we were pleased with our stay there. The bedroom was a little cold.

- DONEGAN (10/5): Brilliant - Fantastic for a wedding Squeaky floors!!
- leanne (8/5): Nice catch up with friends in a nice hotel - We stayed for one night
Pleasant stay with my husband and some friends
Staff all very helpful and friendly
Very reasonable price for our stay
We will definitely stay again Rooms a little dated but we're very spacious
Bed bit lumpy and uncomfortable
- Paul (8/5): -
- Jack (3/5): Nice place ruined by horrible neighbours - Staff nice and good bar. Room comfortable Bed small
Bathroom door very dodgy and got stuck in there twice.
Room next door came back at 3.30am shouting and swearing and when asked to be quiet then continued until 9am so got very little sleep, along with room upstairs being very loud through the ceiling.
- Hilary (3/5): We would not recommend this hotel - Location and parking was good It was very old and run down. We had to walk through the pub with our luggage to get to our room. There were bugs crawling all over the bed and the whole accommodation area needs a renovation.
- john (7/5): -
- Donegan (9/5): - We went to a family wedding. Food at the hotel was fantastic. Hotel was beautiful, and nicely decorated. Service was good
