Guest Reviews
- Micheal (8/5): - Good breakfast
- Paul (10/5): - We stayed here whilst visiting Beamish. It was relatively convenient for Beamish, quiet and comfortable. In particular, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Generally a very good option
- Nigel (8/5): - Very welcoming staff. Room adequate. Breakfast excellent. Evening meal typical pub chain offerings, dont expect too much! Would return.
- Trish (10/5): - We will certainly return.
Such welcoming, friendly, helpful staff.
Warm, comfortable room, no problems parking. Lovely continental or cooked breakfast option.
Perfect country pub location to visit Beamish. Definitely worth another visit!
- Mary (10/5): - Lovely country inn with pub.
- Robert (8/5): rob and karen - Very pleased with both accommodation and food.
- kathleen (10/5): - Always super friendly staff, so relaxing. Dog allowed to stsy in room whikst I attended funeral - super grateful for this.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We have stayed at Ravensworth Arms before and have been highly satisfied on both occasions. The room we were given this time was very good, and we enjoyed our evening meal. We had the continental breakfast which was a little lacking in that there was no apple juice and no fruit on offer as advertised. But on the whole we really enjoyed our stay and would choose to stay there again.
- kathleen (8/5): - I would have liked my bed made and the dirty towels removed after my fist night's stay. Other that, all fine.
- Darren (10/5): Family break - Room and beds were lovely well recommended staying here
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent Food - Breakfast was 10/10
- Matthew (10/5): - Business trip. Perfect location. Clean, good food, quick check in and out.
- Paul (6/5): - The room
Was spacious but dirty sadly dead flies on roller blinds banging of doors all morning
- Rachel (10/5): - Hotel was lovely, decent price as breakfast included. Easy check in/out, plenty of parking. We stayed there for the Sam Fender concert at St James Park, got an Uber eachway, 5-8 min drive.
- jeremy (8/5): - .
- Sarah (4/5): Not Good - Wouldnt stay again, the room didnt smell good at all.. it smelt of foist and damp. Everythjng was run down
- Michael (10/5): - Everything it was great in all aspects. Thankyou.
- sharron (8/5): - Everything was amazing apart from the tv didn’t work at all, it wouldn’t have mattered so much but given the location, once the bar closed there was nothing to do. Staff tried to get it to work but couldn’t. Would still go back though as everything else was lovely
- Gary (8/5): - Nice location and view
- Craig (6/5): Ok wouldn’t be first choice -
Guy on reception very helpful and friendly
Was in a room in car park, clean and well presented if a bit small, issues with noise from both the adjacent room and cars passing by the door
- Kevin (8/5): Good room & value for money. - Nice, big family room, the only drawback is the constant banging of what must be the toilet doors below the room. Maybe some sort of padding on the door frame would be a help. Also, the bathroom windows could be better cleaned. That all said, we would stay there again.
- David (8/5): - Great little hidden gem
- Mark (10/5): Go for it. - Good value for money, cheerful staff and a welcoming atmosphere. It was great that the room was serviced without being asked, a quality sadly lacking in a lot of places now. Brilliant value breakfast with lots of choice.
- J (10/5): Family trip for 80th Birthday - Booked 3 rooms bed and breakfast for a family event. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The service from the bar staff and the breakfast ladies was great. Had some very nice wine at night and a lovely breakfast in the morning. I would recommend to anyone staying in the area not looking for city centre hotels.
- Angela (10/5): - The location is perfect for shopping and visiting the Beamish museum. It's a very popular place for eating and drinking. The staff are lovely, very friendly.
- Marc (8/5): - Lovely pub, very friendly staff and nice place to stay.
- David (6/5): - Great staff good rooms nice food
- Stephen (10/5): Fabulous Green King stay. - One of the best Green King stays in the country.
Great service, food and accommodation.
- David (8/5): - Great spot
- Samantha (10/5): - Short drive to Beamish Museum. Family room was large and comfortable with lots of lovely extra touches like coffee bags and biscuits. Meal was excellent and staff were really friendly and gave great service.
- elaine (8/5): - Staff were great
Room was nice and comfortable
We had dinner
My steak was over cooked and cold
I sent it back
The meal was replaced and we were given the whole meal and drinks free of charge
Such a kind gesture
Very grateful
- Mark (8/5): Welcoming country pub - Lovely stay for one night. Easy check-in with welcoming staff. Room was very warm given the cold outdoors - but (in one of the rooms separate from main building) is an electric heater so did click a bit over the night, and the bathroom only had a fan heater (so turned on before I had a shower!!)
Fair evening meal, good breakfast- not the quickest to prepare but that shows it's fresh so cant be critical!
- Colin (2/5): - Poor WiFi, whistling radiator so had to turn it off in a cold room and no reception on the TV, had to wait to be asked what I wanted for breakfast! Stayed here on numerous occasions but won’t again
- Sheila (10/5): Great value. - Lovely friendly welcome, comfortable room, great shower excellent dining.
- Tony (6/5): - Nice place in a quiet area. Evening meal was nice and staff very pleasant. Breakfast was good but very slow (35mins)
- Sajal (10/5): - Nice pub food. Great stop over place. Huge room.
- Debbie (8/5): - Nice pub with food. Nice staff
- Christopher (10/5): - All good.
- David (10/5): - Great location quiet yet close to all amenities.
- Kiera (4/5): - The hotel was clean and tidy on arrival however, it is very outdated and definitely needs a refurb with chipping paint. The worst part was the bathroom, horrible smell and mild on the tiles in the shower. Was okay for what we needed it for but not worth the money, quite dissatisfied.
- George (10/5): You must stay here - Not a single fault, beautiful food, clean and spacious room, friendly staff. An all round lovely trip. We'd travel up again just to stay here.
- Jeffrey (6/5): Needs a facelift. - Been using Ravensworth loyally for well over 20 years and have stayed in most rooms in the main building and outside. Staff are always fine but the accommodation over last couple of years is crying out for a complete revamp. Tired decor, bathrooms with water bubbled woodwork and marked grouting, knocked edges and chipped paintwork everywhere. That was my last stay for us until I hear it’s been overhauled.
- emma (8/5): - Excellent sleep and plenty of beverages
- David (8/5): - Great staff nice and quiet
- Angela (10/5): Must Stay - Great stay great staff Service Only let down Room a bit dark But we will be back
- Angela (2/5): - Have stayed a few times in the past but this time i had to wait over 10 mins for someone to check me and even then had to go to bar to ask! Shower unit is sooooo tiny difficult to get in/out of then couldn’t turn shower off so had to rush to get help. Breakfast myself and two other parties were waiting over 12 minutes for someone to come and serve us!
- Pauline (10/5): - Nice country hotel with pub and restaurant within easy reach of Newcastle, Gateshead and Beamish museum. Rooms very good and good choice of food.
- Matthew (10/5): - Large comfortable room. Good bed. View onto meadow / field. Easy parking. Lovely touches such as lots of different high quality teabags, coffee and hot chocolate plus nice biscuits. Didn’t eat there but pub and restaurant attached with relaxed atmosphere. Staff kindly let me have a pint after pub tills were shut when I came in late. Good value and easy enough to get into Durham for a concert - all hotel options in Durham centre were over £200 for the same night. Would definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay - Lovely Inn with friendly and welcoming staff. Room was spacious and bathroom clean. Over the bath rainfall shower. Food in the pub was good. Standard pub fayre with specials.
Angel of the North visible from the window and five minutes drive away. We wanted to be near the Beamish Living Museum and this was perfect. A 10 minute drive away. The only slight disappointment for us was that breakfast ended at 9.00 so we had to be up early and would have liked a bit of a lie in, but that's just our preference. We would certainly stay here again. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.
- Motor Parts Direct (8/5): - Friendly staff, room was pleasant however there was a constant humming noise from the roof space as if an extractor fan was on all night. Breakfast was good. Overall I’m likely to stay again but will pack ear plugs!
- a (8/5): Very good - Very clean and spacious room ,all amenities that you need.
- David (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful. Good spot to stay very quiet yet not for from amenities and a good base to venture out
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value - Lovely little place. Rooms are nice.
- andrew (10/5): - Great room, great restaurant and service. Would defo stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): In need of some love - The whole place felt tired & grubby. There was mold spots in my room the bathroom also smelt very damp.
- Hilary (8/5): - Very good accommodation but a shame about nearby road works!
- Adam (6/5): Adequate overnight stay - Good points are that the shower is very powerful and hot, location, parking, bed, and the pub / restaurant. Let down by cleaning standards, mold in bathroom and lots of cobwebs all around the room that are covered in dust.
- Bethany (10/5): - Amazing especially for the price we paid! Only about 15 mins in a taxi into the centre of Newcastle and had everything you could need. In a lovely location and even though are room faced the road, it was still really quiet. Staff were lovely and everything was very clean, would definitely stay here again if I was to visit Newcastle!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic two night stay. Great location only a short drive or Uber into Newcastle. Would definitely rebook when visiting Newcastle again.
- Robert (8/5): - Nice rooms and comfortable stay. Bathroom needs a freshen up, as there is limited air circulation and the paint is peeling.
- William (10/5): - The groom was very pleasant the restaurant and bar very convenient
- Pat (10/5): What a GEM - It was a last-minute booking, but what a Gem, all the staff were brilliant, the food was fantastic value. I've stayed in some (suppose) high-class hotels that wouldn't match the meal offered up on the night (special mention to the chef).
It was also nice to see that the room was in keeping with the building itself and not boxed off like most hotels, it retained that certain quirkiness, was clean, tidy and very spacious.
Would I stay again, most certainly and have already started recommending it.
Brilliant venue made even better by fantastic staff portraying that family lead feel.
- Martin (2/5): - Toilet not working, cracked bath, tiles falling off the wall, leaking from ceiling everywhere, dirty plates in breakfast room. Then they still have a nerve to charge you extra for overnight parking.
- M. (8/5): A Traditional Country Inn. - We've enjoyed several short breaks at this spacious and stylish 'pub with rooms', and have always found it welcoming and homely. The menu is well-balanced with weekly specials. Nothing is too much trouble for the attentive and friendly staff. Very handily placed as a touring base, too
- Angela (6/5): - Stayed here before but this time wasn’t as happy as the room was more squashed and the bathroom was far too small. Had issues trying to turn on/off shower and could hardly get in and out of it for the shape and size of it!
- Sandra (8/5): - Had a great time
Room lovely could see angel of the north
Food good only complaint only complaint one of our group was vegetarian little choice and kept running out of vegetarian options
- Joe (10/5): We will be back - Great stay - we will book again. Friendly staff and lovely breakfast
- John (8/5): - lovley place
- Maureen (10/5): - We have stayed here a few times and always stay here when in the area. The staff everyone are very nice helpful and it’s very welcoming relaxing would recommend here any time
- Nigel (10/5): Brilliant hotel - Our stay at The Ravensworth Arms Hotel was brilliant the staff we friendly and nothing was too much trouble, The food was a high standard and plenty to choose from, reasonably priced as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone we will go back there later in the year,
- Jane (10/5): Definitely worth a visit - Absolutely beautiful pub inside and out, lovely gardens surrounded by nature. All the staff were really nice and friendly. Food and drink was really nice. We stayed for 2 nights, the breakfast was great value, room was spotless, loved the bathroom, the mattress was a bit hard for me personally. We will definitely be back x
- Alan (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent all-round, staff are brilliant, food and drink good.will stay again without hesitation
- francis (10/5): excellent - hotel was nice, food was good, staff very friendly and helpful. what more can you ask
- lee (6/5): - Great rooms and service but stayed in room 3 which had no wi if connection
- Steve (10/5): - Great place to stay will use whenever I am working in this area
- John (10/5): Little gem - Very close to A1. Comfortable room. Great pub outstanding grub. Dog friendly pub. Staff were very welcoming and we will definitely stay again next time we are passing.
- Colin (8/5): - Clean room with all you need for a short stay
- Andrew (10/5): - It was like being in the remote countryside yet only a couple of minutes from the A1. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were great and the main bar and dining areas looked good
- richard (8/5): - The staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful
The only thing i could complain about was i couldnt find the wifi code although
I'm sure if i had asked i would have been given it
- Tony (10/5): Great Hotel - A great place to stay. Good accommodations, good food and very friendly and helpful staff.
Highly recommended,
- Simon (10/5): - We have just enjoyed a six night stay. We were located in the separate rooms across from the main entrance. Very clean and comfortable…plain but quiet and warm and recently refurbished. The main pub/hotel was excellent with great food and also appears recently refurbished but retaining an authentic feel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and cheerfully accommodated a late request for breakfast from this bleary-eyed guest. The location of the hotel is perfect…quiet but close to the A1 so ideal for nipping to wherever you have to be in the area. Will definitely recommend and look to stay again.
- Simon (10/5): Ravensworth 2.0 - I have stayed at this hotel before and have always found it welcoming with friendly staff, decent rooms and hearty meals. Its been about 3 or 4 years since last I was here and its changed.
It got better the staff were amazing, the rooms have had a makeover and the food is even better than I remember it.
My stay was short and sweet as usual but I will return.
- Colin (8/5): Constant noise. - Stayed in an external room in a block of 6. Comfortable and clean. Downside was the loud noise of air conditioning system on the main building about 50ft away.
- Angela Ransome (10/5): - had everything you needed and a pub too which made it easier for food/drinks if needed
- Martin (10/5): Lovely place - lovely place, room was really nice, excellent shower.
- Juliet (10/5): Lovely - The place is lovely very friendly staff beautiful breakfast, my only complaint was the bed was to hard for me work up with hip pain and stiff neck. Would defo recommend sofrer mattresses. But i would reccomend a stay at rhis place.
- Patrick (8/5): Working in the area - Nice pub, weather was great during my trip, and there’s a lovely patio area.
Stayed in one of the lodges whilst I was there.
It was pleasant but got quiet stuffy due to the warm weather.
Staff were attentive and the food was reasonable but not cheap( company card👍) I was there for 3 nights. That was enough for me. There’s not much around unless you fancy a drive. Adequate accommodation for what I needed. Would consider if in the area again.
- Robert (8/5): - Great staff, slight issue when checking out, but all resolved perfectly.
- Alan (10/5): Great hotel - Great stay, lovely rooms and pub with great evening meal. Good value for money.
- Jon (10/5): - Excellent. Staff helpful and cheerful. Accomadation 1st class. Good choice of menu. Highly recommend The Ravensworth.
- Michael (10/5): Xmas markets in Newcastle - We stayed for two nights and the staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly we were both really impressed with everything
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and cosy, good food and live entertainment on the evening we were there
- J (8/5): Value - Visiting Beamish so ideal location and facilities.Stayed in 7 and looking very tired. Staff Beverages,Restaurant Food were excellent
Will be returning sometime in the future.
- Adam (10/5): Lovely area - Really comfortable stay. Rooms clean and good size. Close to local amenities.
- Tracey (8/5): Smelly n damp - The room I was put in was damp and smelled terrible the door leaked rain through the night so the carpet was soaking wet by morning
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We liked the Location to GNR and surrounding areas.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - The Ravensworth was not as clean as we would have liked and the room had a general run down feel and is clearly in need of investment. There was a skip with evidence of other rooms being renovated so perhaps our's was next on the list!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice country pub which was easy to find off the A1 near Newcastle. Our room was in outbuilding and had everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of parking although not by our room (but not a problem for us). Very quiet. Pub was very busy serving Sunday dinners (which looked massive). Didnt eat there as we were visiting relatives nearby but had breakfast next day which was plentiful and hot. Would stay again. Could see Angel of North in distance and two junctions away from Metro Centre.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pretty rural location. Uninspired pub menu. And the whole place just felt rather tired. The accommodation could do with an overhaul.
- Timothy (6/5): Not as good as it used to be - Food not as good as it used to be.
It had a varied different menu, now its just like most other places
Noisy room at the front of the hotel
