I would be very disappointed to pay full price and get one of these rooms compared to upper level that had a full ocean view.

• Tyza (10/5): A great place to stay if you’re traveling with pets that is oceanfront and cozy. - The hotel accommodates pets, which is a huge plus for me. The oceanfront lower level rooms open up to the patio and grassy area for our dogs, which is very convenient. The property is a little outdated and the rooms smell a little smoky because of the wood-burning fireplaces in this suites. If you have allergies to this, it can pose a problem.

• Katharina (8/5): - Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit seitlichem Meerblick. Das war sehr schön, denn wir konnten mit Meeresrauschen einschlafen. Das Zimmer war geräumig und hatte einen Kamin. Idyllisch war auch der Pool mit Hot Tub und Blick auf das Meer. Der Fitnessraum war sehr gut. Die Lage war prima. Wir waren in 10 min an der Bucht, von der man die Seelöwen beobachten konnte. Es gab keine Mikrowelle. Zudem roch es im Zimmer etwas rauchig wegen des Kamins.

We got a King room right next to the pool and the expansive lawn area which was perfect for us. We will try to book the same area! We brought our dog and it was so easy to have him there with us with the wide open space and dog friendly beach nearby. Room service and request were great, everything was clean, and we overall enjoyed our stay very much!

• tima99999 (6/5): ocean view room - We booked an ocean view room — the view was beautiful. The bed, pillows, towels, and robes were comfortable. However, the room had a strong unpleasant smell. We had to air it out and use deodorizer. The carpet appeared dirty, the toilet seat had stains, and the fridge was not clean inside. Based on this experience, I would not stay here again.

• Escape06526163400 (6/5): Pleasant but could use some work. - Went for a night because we were going to see Hearst castle for the first time. The location is great. The atmosphere is old and dated. The room had foggy sliding glass doors and had a weird smell but went away after airing the room out. For the price I paid I felt it was a little much. I liked the hotel location but would probably prefer cambria instead next time.

Train your employees to communicate effectively with customer - First of all, this hotel sent me an email offering an upgraded room for $49. In my excitement, I upgraded my room from a regular room to a front-view room. I received an email that said: “Dear Cindy Fxxxn, We have confirmed your Cavalier Oceanfront Resort eXpress Upgrade™ request. Congratulations! You have been awarded your eXpress Upgrade™. You will be charged the associated fees. It may take up to 48 hours to reflect all changes to your originally booked reservation.” When my family arrived at the hotel, I told the front desk that I had upgraded my room and asked if he could check it. The front desk agent said it wasn’t upgraded. I asked why not, since I had confirmation that it was. He simply said it wasn’t, with an unapologetic expression, and didn’t even bother to apologize for the issue. It was very disappointing, especially knowing that the rooms don’t have AC. If we had gotten the front-view room, we could have opened our windows without anyone looking in from outside. Worst customer service ever! Do not book at this hotel if you are someone who likes air conditioning, because this hotel doesn’t have it. They said it’s due to a California regulation, but other hotels in the area have AC, so I’m not sure if that’s true. It’s better to research the area first. Your property doesn’t have AC, and the front desk staff are very unfriendly. You should better train your employees to greet customers.

• DonD156 (10/5): Cavalier Oceanfront Resort is a great place to stay! - A very nice resort, very close to the beach and many rooms overlook the ocean. Some highlights were having two pools and a spa, fire pits at night on the bluff, and a staff that really showed that they were happy that we stayed there.

• Remalyn (8/5): It’s ok but could’ve been better if the staff only tried to offer some sort of negotiation for the inconvenience - The location is beautiful but when I booked it I thought it’s oceanview and they gave me only partial oceanview. I believed I booked oceanview but when I checked in they said it’s not so I end up staying partial oceanview only. The hotel is clean but when you open the door the smell is like musty like the carpet is old.

The location is stunning—perched right on the cliff with a breathtaking oceanfront view. Waking up and looking out over the ocean was truly unforgettable. The staff were amazing from start to finish. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made the experience even more special. A big thank you as well to the team in the Cavalier Kitchen—the food and service were fantastic. Thank you all for helping make our trip so memorable. We can’t wait to come back!

The in-room fireplaces are a delight to cozy up to, and the cliffside fire pits are a treat to roast smores and meet fellow travelers around a campfire! The rooms are always clean and the beds are comfortable, and the staff is very outgoing and helpful. Would highly recommend a stay at this property!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that the front desk is 24/7. I wish the facilities were a bit more updated. The TV was still on satellite so the connection was spotty, although we mostly used it for background noise. Just something to note. It would have also been nice if there was a microwave as well as vending machines that worked due to nothing being open late. Again, very minor gripes. The only issue making me hesitant to visit in the summer is that there is no A/C, only a heater.

It is getting kind of worn out. There was hair in the tub and my socks were very dirty after walking on the carpet in them.
• 810markieb (8/5): Dog-Friendly Coastal Stay - Great stay during a coastal road trip with dogs! A lot of space to take them for walks and one of the few places that doesn’t charge extra for them. The staff was very friendly, the rooms have everything you need, and the gym was better than a lot of hotel gyms. The restaurant even has a dog menu! Close to beautiful Cambria and Hearst Castle. Would stay again!

We loved our room, and walking along the cliffs never gets old — the views are breathtaking every single visit. The games on the grassy area are always a huge hit for our very competitive family. We’re always trying to see who’s going to win, and it’s become one of our favorite traditions. Sitting by the fireplaces on the cliffs, roasting marshmallows, and listening to the waves crash is pure magic. It’s one of those experiences you can’t get anywhere else. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are consistently clean and smell great. Every stay feels relaxing and special. We can’t wait to return for our next visit. This place truly feels like a home away from home.

Complimentary champagne was a nice surprise. No microwave, but we made do. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Will defintely be staying there again.
• 282berenices (4/5): Amenities Need Improvement - There was no water available in the gym or in our room. The gym also lacked water cups, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes to clean equipment. Both treadmills were stuck in an elevated position and remained paused that way for the entire 30 minutes I was there, making them unusable. Also, the times for the gym were 9 AM to 9 PM which is kind of ridiculous. Some people like to wake up early and go to the gym before they get their day started… The hot tub had a used bandage and heat were also not working. Overall, the amenities were poorly maintained and did not meet basic expectations for cleanliness and functionality.

It's super clean, the bathroom products are wonderful, the grounds are nice with 3 pools, 2 spas, 2 fire pits, a giant chess and checker boards and beach access. The staff is great and very helpful. There is also a restaurant that is on the property. We enjoyed a breakfast and a dinner there. The food is good and the prices aren't too high. Hearst Castle is about 5 minutes north. Cambria is about 5 minutes south. Be sure to plan time to shop in Cambria. It's such a quaint little town. We recommend Linn's for dinner. We highly recommend this resort.

This trip was a surprise getaway for my boyfriend, and the hotel staff went above and beyond to help me with all my special requests. Their kindness and attention to detail made the experience feel truly special, and the complimentary bottle of champagne was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. The hotel is also incredibly dog-friendly, which meant so much to us. Our Border Collie had the best time and was thrilled to meet other furry friends during our stay. The view from the porch was simply spectacular — peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the ocean atmosphere. We also spent a great time in the hot tub and really enjoyed having access to the pools and gym on the property. The hotel is not brand new and could use a little updating in some areas, but honestly, it did not affect our experience at all. We were totally amazed by the atmosphere, service, and overall charm of the place. Having breakfast available on-site would have been a nice extra, but it definitely wasn’t a downside for us. This stay was worth every penny, and we are already looking forward to coming back!
