• Katie (8/5): A Great Place to Stay - I was in Fortuna for an organizational convention. When I tried to book a double queen room at the selected headquarters hotels for the dates I needed there were none available. Best Western Country Inn had the room I needed and at the same rate as the convention had negotiated. It was nearby the others, quiet and the well lit parking lot was filled with CalFire vehicles and construction trucks, with a few tourist families. The breakfast seemed to have a variety of foods and my room was clean and very comfortable. Most nights I was able to park close to the stairs to my upstairs room in the middle of the main block of rooms, but there were a couple of days when they were really full and I was lucky to even find a parking place. A disadvantage to me, but a definite plus for the Country Inn in the fall.

AC unit worked well but only allowed you to set the temperature and fan would go off when it reached that temp. Would have liked option to keep fan going as a sort of background noise. An elevator would be nice as well.

The check in was easy and nice touches like watermelon water available, there was a board that highlighted the breakfast the following day. For breakfast they had both a waffle and a pancake maker, whipped cream and even chocolate sprinkles. Along with a pretty decent frittata and potatoes. Plenty of other options including cereal, toast, and (packaged) muffins. Room was quiet and beds and bedding were clean and comfortable.

When I finally got my room, the bathroom window was broke like as if somebody had thrown a rock at it. I called the front desk to tell them and they said that they would send maintenance the next day. Wasn’t offered a different room or a discount room was fully not clean how they used to. Just disappointed this time.
