Room was very big and very pleasant.
Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

- Martin (1/5): Choose another hotel - Nothing really, maybe only the location. The place was very dirty and dusty. The apartment we got was on the top (6th) floor but the elevator was not working. Imagine lugging up the stairs with suitcases, baby and a stroller. The hotel had the chance to inform us about the situation when they called to confirm we needed a cot placed but didn't. We could've opted for a room on a lower floor. It was extremely hot in the entire hotel except at the reception.
As mentioned the room was very dirty and during our stay the staff came once replacing only half the towels and taking out only half the trash leaving the rest.
The reservation we made on Booking said no breakfast included so we were looking for breakfast outside of the hotel. Only to discover by accident that "no, you have breakfast included, don't look at the Booking website". And this happens at the end of our stay. The staff at reception failed to mention anything about breakfast both to us and to the couple we were travelling with.

- Maya (10/5): Perfekt - The hotel is situated on the top of center , totaly renovated and super clean. The staff is very nice. We had a great night in the restaurant and the food is exceptional veeeery delicious. Live music - great. The Breakfast was also perfekt. Thank you
- Marchela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paduraru (7/5): Good -
- Viktoriia (7/5): The actual cost I have paid was too overpriced and Booking.com didn't solve this prblem - I was a huge problem with this booking and as a result I was charged for my staying twice (by www.booking.com and on the hotel reception).
Booking.com didn’t solve this problem, so the doble price is too much for this hotel
- Valentina (4/5): Too expensive for what it provides - The hotel is placed really close to the city center. The bed was really uncomfortable, there was no hot water for the shower, the balcony was not usable as it was dirty plus too small to fit a person and there was an unpleasant smell in the room.
- Emiliya (6/5): Good price and location - the location is great, the staff was friendly there was strong smell in the room from the aroma scent and the lighting was poor, poor wifi signal (no good for working)
- Djh612 (8/5): A comfortable hotel in central Ruse - The hotel is a small complex in two parts. We stayed in the main part. Staff here were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean though not huge. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The central area of Ruse was easily accessible by foot from the hotel
- sabinasabeva (10/5): Good city hotel - This is a good business and city hotel. It is situated very close to city center - just a walking distance. Rooms are nice and clean, staff is friendly. The breakfast is good. The hotel has indoor parking which is a great advantage.
- 32visitor (4/5): A spoiled impression - Recent stay at "Bistra & Galina" - excellent, friendly and very cooperative personnel! Charming hotel facility, reminding of old town and a family warm environment! Terrible, disrespectful behavior of the hotel owner, leaving a bitter taste and a definite decision to never repeat this experience. Such a pity!!!!
- Harry4444-gol (8/5): Nice but not enough - The hotel has great location, friendly staff even I was made a mistake with the parking fee thinking it was included in the room price. The lady there was too kind and finally I didn't pay the parking fee. Anyway in the morning there was not electricity and it was difficult to do everything in the bathroom only with emmergency light. 4 stars as it shows are too much from my point of view
- Anitoto (2/5): No more than 2 stars hotel - Bistra and Galiana is a name that is highly recommended as there is a foundation taking part of this group.
Unfortunately charity could not make the quality of the hotel.
The shower is with curtain!!! You could only see this in hostels
The beds are tiny.
It is very noisy: you can hear the street cars, the elevator, the other rooms, etc
And finally, the tiny spa is in another building across the street and you should pay separately.
Aditionaly, the hotel is built so close to other buildings, there is no view beside the one of people dinning in their flats.
- 228kh (8/5): Nice place - Nice, quiet place, centrally located.
Comfortable bed and very CLEAN!
Good restaurant, which serves tasty traditional and European kitchen
The bad:
The breakfast can be little bit "rich".
The parking can be included in the price!
- TerryF501 (6/5): A two day stop stop. - The hotel is split in two we stayed over the road in the smaller complex. The room was two single beds pushed together. Breakfast was fine nothing special but plenty of it. The pool was small but clean at a cost of 5lfs. The hotel is a 5 minuite walk to the centre.
- beratg2016 (8/5): Bistra - one of the best Hotels at Ruse, Bistra its a nice Hotel located close to the central Park and restaurant Happy, rooms in the Hotel are nice and clean, great staff, good breakfast also, parking is a bit a problem, i strongly recommend it, so just go and visit this Hotel if you need one,
- DimanaVlaeva (8/5): Comfortamble and very close to the center - I stayed at the hotel for a team building for 2 nights and we received a very nice welcome. The hotel has a very good location and is perfect for business and tourism. The staff is friendly and helpful and rooms are clean and tidy.
- X5606NO_ (10/5): Strongly recommended! - Very good conference hotel in Rouse. Pleasant conference room, very good food. New hotel with beautiful decor. Quiet location in the city center. Perfect staff and great facilities. Underground parking available.
- dragoman88 (6/5): Best Western Ruse - Hotel in good walking position to restaurants & attractions. It would help if fitness centre & pool were open earlier than 9am.I was told that guests should pay for city maps from reception. They are free from museum.Noisy disco was not good for sleep(next door to Hotel)
- RamboBurtononTrent (10/5): Recommended stay - Had a total of 11 days at this Hotel and found the rooms very clean, the service was very good food superb,I stayed here due to work not sure the area is a holiday place but locally there are plenty of bars and good restaurants. The area is typical old style Russia so its a bit drab but all food and drink is very cheap
- Jen-Almada (10/5): A perfect place in Ruse - Very nice rooms, clean and artistic.
Within a hairdryer, TV, telephone, mini fridge, free WI-FI.
The staff is very polite.
At the bar you can have a breakfast for an additional fee if you have not paid in advance breakfast.
All over in the hotel there are many paintings, it is so art!
Also the hotel is situated in the center of the Ruse. There are many interesting buildings around, The Opera, The theater, also a lot of banks, shops, The Municipality.
The hotel is close to the station and bus station.
Near the hotel is situated a very beautiful park with benches. You can sit and relax there.
I recommend this hotel and I am sure I will come back again there.
Thank you for your kind hospitality!

- suzannes329 (8/5): Center City - Great place, we visited in December and was there new years eve. We were the only ones in the hotel but it was great. The breakfast was the only disappointment with very little variety and no choice of juices. However, if you know Ruse it lacks decent lodging and this would be considered on of the best.
- 700katrinh (10/5): A Delightful Stay - The service was good. The people were polite and helpful. The room was fine, enough space for a reasonable price. There was space for our car which is good. The pool was big enough but the water was a little bit cold. The fitness department looked ok. The vapourbath was small but efficient. I really enjoyed it. I was especially content with the service. The receptionist behaved well. We didn't try the breakfast. But the decorations and interior was average, nothing too fancy and it was neat.
- IoanaMagdalena (6/5): Pool me once, shame on you - Ruse is a little provincial Bulgarian town on the Romanian-Bulgarian Danube border, about an hour and a half drive away from Bucharest, capital of Romania. And currently under occupation. Of seagulls.
Just 5 minutes’ walk from the Danube embankment, which in itself is a nice walk, there is a nice large park with old trees and benches and fountains and a couple of terraces. And another five minutes’ walk from that, on a relatively quiet street, there’s the Best Western hotel. I couldn’t tell you exactly how many stars it’s ranked at, since booking websites have it at 4* and their own restaurant wall has it at 3*, but glancing at the few pictures and reviews we could find, we decided it was going to be just fine for an overnight stay, so we started planning our mini-break (June 7 to 8, 2014) to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Actually, the deal-maker was the small but decent indoor swimming pool, since I’m a bit of a... ”duck”, I guess, and deem pools a must for any location that comes even close to the idea of a break, be it mini- or holiday-size. And here’s my report, for those of you who ever happen to be interested in this little establishment.
WE LIKED:
The studio room – nice and airy, with a large bed and a small sofa, but also with a table/desk thing that turns into a window sill and can take a lot of scattered possessions... Also well and plentifully lit. And air-conditioned. And with a mosquito net on the balcony door.
The bathroom amenities – one of the most complete arrays we have seen yet: shaving kit, two tooth-brushing kits, comb, nail file, cotton buds & disks, shampoo, shower gel, bath foam, hair conditioner, body lotion, little soaps in little plastic soap holders, you name it. Plenty of fluffy thirsty towels, too. Even an anti-slip bathtub mat, a tissue box and an air deodorant. The only thing missing was a second bathrobe, but one call to reception remedied that promptly.
Staff in the small building – the hotel has two buildings, a larger one where the restaurant is also located, and a smaller one across the street, where our studio was and where the swimming pool was also. In this smaller building, whoever was on duty at the small reception was always all smiles, helpful and... English-speaking.
Breakfast terrace – large, airy, with a little fountain and many flowers, a nice environment despite all the kitschy garden gnome statues that they seem to think they can never have enough of.
Parking – we parked in the small hotel yard, no additional fee, no reservation needed.
WE DID NOT LIKE:
No attention to detail – they totally missed that we had arrived there on my husband’s birthday!!! How is that even possible?! I mean they had his ID for some hours, filling in whatever they were filling in... It’s not that we expected a fanfare, or even a bottle of wine, but to have it go completely unnoticed was somewhat of a letdown.
The bed – although large, the mattress proved to be an infernal contraption that is at the same time hard on the skin and soft-spring bouncy, so that every time my husband or I would turn in our sleep, the other one would wake up scared of an earthquake... The pillows didn’t help either, they were hard and dense to the point where I woke up – again – because my ear hurt.
The balcony – we were glad to have one but that only lasted until we realized it only had standing room. For one person. Between the external air conditioning compressor and the mosquito net opening outwards, a second person would end up thrown over the railing.
The staff at the main reception desk – not enough English and, quite frankly, they seemed either bored or in the middle of a headache. Not rude, just not particularly happy to see guests. Still, to be fair, they were as helpful as they could be despite the already mentioned two hurdles.
WE WERE OF TWO MINDS ABOUT:
The breakfast buffet – all the usual cold processed meats, veggies and breads, cereal, milk, yoghurts, eggs, you know the menu. A little lackluster if you ask me, but my husband enjoyed the French toast and the toasted corn bread. I liked their crêpes and the idea of fresh fruit, but, sadly, at 9:30 when we arrived, I had to hunt down the last two remaining apricots and I sighed to notice they were out of strawberries and cherries. We were not crazy about the scrambled eggs (very dense/barely mixed), we stayed well away from the so-called bacon (thick greasy slices) and, after one sip, we abandoned both the juice and the coffee and went in search of better, healthier, fresher options in the town square park.
The sea gulls – fowl players, is all I can say. From drunken teenagers to laughing maniacs, to scalded cats in heat, to egg-laying hens from hell, they mimic everything. And they keep it up throughout the night. So, if you’re a light sleeper, we strongly recommend ear plugs.
The taste of the interior decorator – both in the room and in the restaurant, you can get cross-eyed if you stare too much at any one of the following: carpet, wall-paper, drapes. The prints, most likely chosen for their stain-hiding ability, are very busy and, needless to say, they don’t quite match or repeat.
THE BEST THING ABOUT IT – the location, close to the beautiful green, terraced town square where you can hang out a whole day.
THE WORST THING ABOUT IT – remember how I said the swimming pool was the deal-closing touch? Well, upon trying to access it we were curtly informed that it wasn’t open to the public until three days later, due to "prophylactic measures". My husband's not-so-inner child giggled at the word, but they just meant cleaning. But wait, WHAT? The pool was the main reason I chose this hotel! Was this mentioned when booking was done? Was there a small notice posted at the reception desk? No and no! This is a MAJOR THING, not like running out of mints to leave on the pillow (not that they did leave any, but I'm making a point here, stay with me). Was there a partial refund or even a comped meal to make up for the lost premium I paid for a POOL at the hotel? Go on, guess. Aaaaarrrrghhhh! I felt cheated; a less-controlled person might have thrown around phrases like "bait-and-switch". Nevertheless, I am never going back there because of that single, but highly major, thing. There. I’ve said it. Pool me once, shame on you.
- LizaK968 (6/5): On the road - A big disappointment. The hotel is four stars but does not meet more than 3.The price is very high.Very poor breakfast no fruit and vegetables. There is only one type of coffee if you want others must pay.Good location but will not go back more.
- sunchild_11 (8/5): Surprisingly relaxing - I don't come to Rousse often, but everytime I do I look forward to this hotel. I find it cozy and friendly. Top 3 things I like about it:
1. The service: I love that it has room service and that the staff is always very friendly and accomodating. It's like visiting an aunt: I get anything I ask for.
2. The breakfast: it's not fancy but the eggs taste really fresh and they diversify as much as they can.
3. The rooms: spacious, great beds, the pictures on the walls are decent.
It's also close to the main square but not exactly there, so you get both proximity and quiet.
When coming from Southern/ Central Bulgaria the directions are enough to help you find it. But coming from Romania via Giurgiu there were no signs. Make sure you know the way in advance, or park your car close to the centre and find it first on foot.
- EileenF243 (6/5): not like best westerns in Canada but much cheaper - Good central location but otherwise nothing special but not expensive. Pool a bit small but adequate for serious swimmer. You have to make an appointment to have a steam bath. poor breakfast with ghastly music. However, they turned it down when asked
- TomJannusch (4/5): What happened to this place? - Following a previous stay I rated this hotel with a "4"...now it struggles to get a "2".
Let's start at the beginning. (1) As we struggled with a car load of luggage, the bell man stood around with his hands in his pockets and did not even offer to help us. (2) I had requested a room with two single beds and got a king size bed and a "fold out" cot...along with one robe for two people. The other room I requested was for two adults but it had one towel and enough shower supplies for one person, and one robe. I went to the reception desk and asked for two robes, another towel, and more soap. What did I get? One robe, one towel, and a dental kit. Nothing got lost in translation because the desk staff all speak English very well. (3) The air conditioner was off and the room was so hot that the ice cubes in the mini bar had melted, and all of the drinks were hot. (4) There are no safes in the rooms but there is a "strong box" at the desk. The "strong box" was so small that it would not even hold a loaf of bread. That tells me that they are not very interested in attracting business clients who generally travel with computers. I travel with expensive camera gear and rather than leave it unattended in the room I had to take it wherever I went, including to dinner. (5) If you rely on their help for directions you may be in for big trouble. They told us that our destination was just a few minutes walk from the hotel. It took us at least ten minutes in a taxi. That would have been a disaster for us since one of our party is in a wheel chair. Be careful. (6) One last thing...if you expect your room service meal to be hot then think again...mine arrived quite cold. (7) All four of us were excited about swimming in the hotel's pool...guess what, there was no water in the pool.
(8) Speaking of dinner, the hotel's restaurant is elegantly furnished and the menu is extensive, however, it seems as if the "chef" has the skills of a fast food chef. One main course arrived almost at the same time as the salad course and fifteen minutes before the next person got her main course. I had to go looking for the waiter three times and he forgot two items I specifically requested. Do not expect trained servers at this restaurant.
I doubt that any manager at the hotel will read this but I was disappointed by the whole experience, and I was embarrassed because I had told my guests how wonderful this hotel would be.
