- spade (7/5): A must do when I'm Trinidad - Scenic view, friendly villagers, saw turtles
- Phil (9/5): - The location and the staff, the staff were so lovely and friendly. The location was unreal Nothing really, really rustic and original
- Mungal (6/5): -
- Rachael (9/5): -
- Matthew (10/5): - Warm and friendly reception by Cherry-Ann and an absolutely delicious dinner!
- Kevin (10/5): - Perfect place to get away
- phil (10/5): - Stunning location
- Fraizer (10/5): Highly recommend this stunning place - What a spectacular place.. the Acajou & Grand Riviere. Everywhere was clean and well kept, staff were super helpful and the food at the restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was excellent. Couldn’t fault it.
- Barry (10/5): - Loved everything about the property
- Yvonne (8/5): - I love the property, waking up to nature was just what I needed. Was a bit concerned, as the locals walk through the property as a short cut to and from the beach. Questioned my safety being that the latch on the back door wasn’t the most sturdy. Another, concern was the path to the beach wasn’t in the best condition, cleanliness, clear path.
Had to request for my room to be clean as the dust on the fans, table, and behind the toilet started to thicken and caused my allergies to flare up. Also, there was mold in my refrigerator. I mention these mishaps not to condemn Acajou hotel but as constructive criticism to do better. All the issues were rectified by a wonderful house keeper named Natasha. She extremely thorough at her job. While I’m mentioning staff, I can not forget, Jada, my breakfast server who always went above and beyond. And then there was Kim, who kept everything running smoothly. I’m so happy I found this hidden gem. My new home away from home💙
- Michailean (8/5): - A beautiful get away.
- Lorraine (10/5): - Kim and Kelly thank you so much for your kindness and care. Excellent service daily and the food was outstanding. Compliments to the chef! The coconut bake and buljol (salt fish), the coconut cream king fish is still lingering on my taste buds. This place offers peacefulness, and quiet surrounded by nature was surreal. However, the invitation to share a birthday meal with (curry chicken and goat) with their friends and family! Unforgettable! Thank you so very much and see you again!
- Sadiki (10/5): - Unique comfortable wooden cabins, great food, kayacking/paddleboarding on the river, great scenery.
- Nirmala (8/5): - A serene and picturesque location, with views of garden, river and beach. Saw nests of turtle eggs. The restaurant meals were lovely.
The only downside was that the rooms can be warm at night. I understand that is being sorted. Wooden interior walls can attract more dust etc, which needs to be addressed. Bats, bug screens etc, often require regular attention.
Overall, a lovely place to stay and enjoy nature.
- Tim (8/5): - It was a rustic, elegant place. The restaurant was great. The rooms were ok, but being rustic they weren't the cleanest and we thought the room would have an AC but it didn't. One of the fans wasn't working but they were able to get it temporarily working for us.
- ROGER DU (10/5): - Acajou means mahogany and when you visit the place you would see why. The craftsmanship in the buildings is so beautiful. The staff is friendly and accommodating (special mention to Lizann) and the food was delicious. It's not located exactly on the beach but it's on the same side so you get views of the beach and it's only about a3 minute walk to reach the water. The beach itself is a long beach with medium waves so nice to bathe in and those who are interested in turtle watching, the guides are just about two buildings down. All in all the experience was great so I would recommend them.
- Kath (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at Acajou. The reason for visiting was to see the Turtles and this certainly didn’t disappoint. We were privileged to go on a night walk where we saw females laying eggs and early morning we also could see Turtles. The beach is a very short walk from the hotel through the hotel gardens. Our cabin had a super view over the lagoon to the sea and a spacious deck to relax on. The room itself was extremely comfortable and the restaurant served delicious food. All the staff were friendly and cheerful and made our stay very special. The road to the property was a little challenging but that all added to the adventure. We had a great time.
- Carl (10/5): - We had a great stay. The accomodations were clean and the restaurant was very professional with attentive servers.
- Adrian (10/5): - Acajou offered exactly what my wife and I needed for a short staycation. A few minutes walk to the beach which walks more of having your own private getaway. The food was home cooked and delicious. Very friendly and courteous staff who were more than accommodating. We had the ability to see nesting turtles from our hut! Will be rebooking and recommending. Thank you Acajou!
- Sylvia (10/5): - I will give the area, hotel, service an A
However, part of the road leading to the hotel needs to be fixed😱
- Carl (10/5): - I really loved the ambience and vibe at this hotel. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The lunch and dinner was tasty even though they ran out of shark. The beach was easily accessible and the locals were friendly. I LOVE MY COUNTRY!
- Earl (10/5): - We went to see the Leather Back turtles. An amazing experience all around. Our hut was just beautiful. Very comfortable. Quiet and clean. Loved every minute of out stay. The staff was wonderful as well.
- Anthony (6/5): - The ambience is best for a get away and total relaxation. Some simple upgrades to room amenities will increase the comfort of this hotel.
- Anil (10/5): - A piece of paradise
- Francisco (10/5): - Our stay at the Acajou Hotel was wonderful. Great place!!!
- Kelly (10/5): - This place is a hidden gem ! I am totally in love with the location and the hotel. This is paradise. Stayed only one night for a last minute getaway while visiting my parents on the island and the moment I walked in i fell in love. The cabins were so beautiful , relaxing and heavenly . The staff is very friendly, courteous and just amazing , they made our stay very comfortable . When I opened the sliding door to the back patio of the cabin and I saw the view , it took my breath away . The food is also amazing , we had breakfast , lunch and dinner and everything was absolutely delicious. Guy I am really I love with this place and will be booking a 7 day stay in April. I can’t wait to go back .
- Maria (8/5): - Unique place, great for families. I wish I would stay there longer to give a better description
- John (10/5): - Very laid back and relaxing. Excellent birdwatching nearby. Quite rough sea when we were there but you can sit on the beach and swim in the river on the inland side. Friendly staff.
- Luisa (10/5): - Is perfect
- Maureen (6/5): - Went for my wife's and I Anniversary, called and let them know in advance, yet walked in with my wife to see the room marked Happy Birthday. Ceiling fan was not working, hot water was broken also.
- Jason (10/5): - The cabins were very nice and comfortable and the environment was peaceful.
- Alisha (6/5): - The beach and river were lovely. The sheets were cotton and comfortable. The bed was nice. The bathroom was clean. There is no A.C but the place is well ventilated and cool. The place can be fenced a bit better and I find it overall overpriced. 5 star hotels are priced like that and this is 3 star.
- Nigel (10/5): - Beautiful off the grid sleep
- Shanna (10/5): - I loved the serentiy and privacy of the cabins
- Mishanna (10/5): - My husband and I spent the weekend here. From the moment we arrived, the peacefulness was the first thing we felt. The property is well-maintained, the staff all very pleasant, and the food at the restaurant was great.
There's a hammock and chairs on the deck, facing the garden, and the sea beyond. If my husband could have spent the whole weekend on that hammock, he would have.
- Anil (10/5): - It was a great experience and I would totally recommend staying there. If the lack of air conditioning is a concern don't let that deter you, I was very comfortable with out it. The staff is great, Kim is friendly and accommodating overall excellent experience.
- Nicko (10/5): - It's a little untidy and rundown on the path heading to the beach, needs to be cleaned and kept in better condition. People really need to stop littering on the beach.
- Michelle (8/5): - Positives: Wonderful staff, lovely dinner and huge delicious breakfasts. I've stayed at this property on two other occasions in the years past. Although the rooms were clean, clearly there were signs that deeper cleaning along with upgrades are definitely needed. The grass on the outdoor was cut neatly, but again more maintenance is needed.
- Gareth (8/5): Beautiful stay and close to the Turtles - Lovely place, amazing food. The only issue was it is not cheap! It is slightly too expensive for what you get but maybe that’s the price you pay to stay this far off the beaten track. No aircon was just about made up for with the fans being sufficient and I suppose it is more environmentally friendly. The hotel arranged for us to be taken to the turtle centre after dinner and seeing a dozen or so turtles laying eggs was a highlight of our whole trip, so well worth the extra expense as there is no better place in the world.
- Elaine (10/5): - My family and I stayed at Acajou Hotel for 5 nights. Very friendly staff and a quick 2 minute walk on to the beach to swim in the sea and watch the turtles lay their eggs. Great breakfast and also had lunch and dinner at the restaurant which was also good.
- Jaden (10/5): - The property was well situated with many activities to partake in. The staff was exceptional and the food was divine. Overall 10/10.
- Maureen (10/5): - The whole setting is total tranquility. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly
- Tonya-Leigh (10/5): - My husband and I celebrated our third anniversary at Acajou. It was amazing! It was peaceful, quiet and beautiful. Our Cabin was lovely and clean with the wonderful view of the river and ocean. The hammock was wonderful and relaxing. We even got a treat as we were able to see two leather back turtles during an early morning walk on the beach. The food was oh so delicious! Dinner was just fabulous. Staff were very attentive and helpful. I am so happy we decided to visit and I definitely would like to return.
- Roxanne (8/5): - It was quiet and on the beach front
I did not like trail to the beach. It looked very unsafe
- alicia (10/5): - We had a wonderful time. Lovely get away for us. The food was great!!!! Will return for sure🌺
- Victoria (10/5): - Beautiful location. We was able to enjoy some peace and just listen to the ocean, whoa!. Property needs some repairs and to be up dated. Wi-Fi sucks. All the staffs was very friendly and pleasant. Kudos to Kim and Tyrell and also the housekeeping staffs. I already recommended the hotel to some of my friends.
- Andrea (10/5): - Will definitely go back there ...
- Gavin (10/5): - Stay was amazing. The hotel was very clean and in keeping with its natural environment. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Guides were available for turtle watching. It was a great experience and I would certainly return.
- Phab-Pantaleon (8/5): - So the food was excellent. I loved the ambient but found that tbey could of atleast have music in the room. The service was ok but they could of informed us more about the activities and could have more than just canoeing
- Jessica (10/5): - Acajou is such a hidden gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and every one of the staff was so friendly. The restaurant's food is quite delicious and all homemade. The beach was ok but the river was quite nice. We got to see the turtles lay eggs which was a first for us. We will definitely stay there again! My only advice is to walk with enough bug spray.
- Laura (10/5): - Cute little cabins along the river and within view of the ocean. The property is beautiful with lots of trees and flowers. Very relaxing and serene with sounds of birds and the ocean waves crashing. The cabin was spacious and had everything we needed. The hammock on the deck being our favourite spot to relax. The beach is a short walk away. The food served in the restaurant was exceptional and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here for a relaxing or romantic getaway.
- James (10/5): - We had an absolutely beautiful and idyllic time at Acajou. I recommend this unique experience to anyone who wants to slip off the grid for a few days into Wild Trinidad Countryside. Staff and food were superb also.
- Antonia (10/5): - Kim was a wonderful hostess & receptionist. Acajou is very peaceful and I look forward to returning. The only thing that was a disappointment was that our hot water wasn't working. Other than this, it was perfect!
- Vincent (10/5): - Very friendly staff, tasty food, clean environment and beautiful scenery. Forgot to ask for wifi password but the signal wasnt strong in the cottage where i stayed.
- LESLI ANN (10/5): - An absolutely beautiful, serene and rustic resort. I’ll definitely go again and highly recommend it to others.
- Clyde (2/5): - The staff were warm and friendly. The food was also great however, there was no electricity, which isn't their fault but for such an established place they can more than invest in a generator or some battery powered lights, the bathroom was laced with molds and cobwebs could be seen in the corners.
- SHAKA (10/5): - Great stay! Staff is polite. The property is beautiful. Food is also really good.
- Robledo (8/5): Distant getaway - A great trip away from civilization. Where the rooms are relaxed. Great scenery when you walk to the back with the ocean in walking distance. Would recommend this spot for anyone that love long drives. Outdoor scenery and nature
