Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - It was good. Nice spot for the mall and plenty of places to eat that is just a few steps away. Miss the place already
- Bertina (10/5): - To begin, you should not have a gentrified mindset when making reservations at ANY bed and breakfast which is located in the culturally diverse neighborhoods. Being born and raised in Harlem I know what Brownstone and tenement living is. So I was VERY COMFORTABLE here. I will be back. I don't always want to stay with family when I go back home to visit.
- Mauricio (10/5): Nice and affordable for NY; best service ever - It is a very nice place and with very nice hosters. It is true the place is not couples at all, but for casual travelers is super suitable and affordable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Privacy, laid back, safe, friendly host, close to a lot of things.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - At this price, I didn't expect a five-star hotel, but there were still surprises. The rooms do not include a bathroom, There is a single bathroom at the end of the hall for all guests. (Remember freshman year in college?) There are no locks on the guest room doors. Each guest gets a key only to the main entrance. The proprietors (husband and wife) were both MIA during the first 48 hours; thus no wi-fi or other amenities during that period. Heat was good, and good access to subway and fast food outlets. My experience would have been better if the owners had been on site,
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful historic house, elegant and clean - My experience at the Mi Casa Tu Casa house was great.
The night my friend and I arrived, our super friendly host showed us around the elegantly decorated historic house, which was built during the civil war period and expanded in the 20th century. Bedrooms for guests were upstairs, but we could also use the kitchen, living room and backyard on the first floor. Each floor had one bathroom, but there was only one other guest room on our floor, so there was not much inconvenience. There was a small fridge, a television and an electronic alarm clock in our room--the Spain room. (I think the name came from the decorations in the room.) The room had no desk or chairs and was a bit dark, so it was kind of hard to find a comfortable posture to use my laptop, but if you do not need to read or use a computer the place should probably be quite cozy.
The host also gave us very useful information such as how to find our way around the Bronx and get to different parts of New York from nearby subway stations. The nearby diner that he recommended offered nice hot breakfast.
I visited New York during the weekend to go to the immersive play Then She Fell, and was merely looking for a safe, not-too-expensive place to stay when it came to housing. Mi Casa Tu Casa was a very happy surprise!
- Guy (6/5): An experience! - The couple who own the place could not have been more friendly and more welcoming, however this was not the type of accommodation I had expected to rent as I had not planed to do my bed every day or share the toilets & shower with other guests...etc
- Phil (8/5): BOO'S BRONX TRIP IN JULY - The room was clean, comfortable and the price very reasonable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hosts, amazing guest house with lovely and clean room. Very close to underground station as well.
- Paul (10/5): Oasis in the Bronx - Heart of the Bronx. Oasis in the city. Great location for subway, food, Yankee Stadium. Julio superb host, helpful but unobtrusive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a property with lots of character but, like all older properties, it has its little quirks. The host is lovely - very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good. The person is very nice and friendly. It really feels like home
- Corliss L. (10/5): My stay at a Top hotel - My trip was for a reunion with friends of >40years ago, who eent tp the same elementary school, through High School. I traveled from North Carolina and wanted to stay in a location that had transportation easily accessible to visit friends in Manhattan and Family in the Bronx. Not only was this an ideal location, it is a beautifully decorated, tradional ,clean comfortable home. Friendly owners, who gave a historical tour of the home. It was the best sleepimg hotel I have visited this year. Would certainly return, next year of my date is available.
- Laura (10/5): - The owner is very friendly and knowledgable about the local areas, which is a plus for the stay at the property.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very easy to get to using a Sybway system (only a block away from the station). I felt very comfortable and found the place to be a better deal than my previous locations at the same price found in the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything, great environment restaurant and stores are close to the home and the owner was wonderful.
- Miriam (10/5): Great little guesthouse. - We loved our stay at Mi Casa Tu Casa. Clean house and loved the cat. Great neighborhood, close to Subway to get to Times Square and other areas. Close to several places to eat and a 7-11. We found a great little neighborhood bar a block away called Glenroys. Loved it!! I will always try to stay here on my trips to NYC.
- Naomi (10/5): Awesome Host - We loved it.We found our permanent place to stay from now on.
- Chantal (10/5): - Always a pleasure staying here. There can be noise from the street sometimes, so it helps to bring earplugs with you if you’re a light sleeper. Safe area!
- Arleenda (10/5): Great Fabulous Place - Fabulous, great place to stay, friendly clean and shopping, eating also subway to Manhattan in minutes.
- compte (10/5): Julio is the best - Super séjour ,julio c’est une crème ,sociable etc .Si vous êtes français et que vous chercher une vrai expérience dans le VRAI New York authentique.... allez-y !
- J Jacques (10/5): Great Stay! - My stay at Mi Casa Su Casa was excellent. It was very convenient to my son’s university, and was across the street from the 2 train. The room was comfortable & the host was so pleasant and upbeat!
- J (8/5): - I felt comfortable and safe staying here. It was easy access to the subway.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Close to metro station but unsafe locality. The towels provided where unclean, the shared lounge did not have air conditioning and was really hot and humid.
- SCOTT (10/5): - Julio was great! Definitely planning on staying there the next time I am in the area. I even bought a T-shirt !!
- MargieBX (10/5): Beautiful spaceous room.beatiful back yard. - The neighborhood was not so quiet however I am very familiar with the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The host was super friendly and welcoming! Location is close to Yankee Stadium and Subway.
- Michael (8/5): Had a blast at Mi Casa Tu Casa - I was in NY for a conference but wanted to experience something different. I found Mi Casa Tu Casa online, read lots of good reviews and decided to take a chance. I had a blast staying here and getting a feel for the Bronx. The guest house is literally 1.5 blocks from the subway and also on a bus route to Harlem. I walked to Harlem and also up to the Yankees stadium. The bronx are the bronx but I think anyone who has spent any time in a major US city will feel safe walking in the neighborhood and perfectly safe inside the guesthouse.
The owner is a larger than life character who was absolutely delightful. He was also super helpful arranging my coming and going. The room itself was fine - nothing special but way better than staying in some Times Square hotel room, as far as I am concerned.
- kumar (4/5): Accessible to subway and 20 mins to Timesquare - Safety was biggest concern.. House was not getting locked properly and you don’t have a separate room key. No toiletries were provided. No one to clean room for five days. Kitchen was accessible and the location was middle of all restaurants, subway and target. Not recommended for couples.
- Chantal (10/5): I love staying here! - I have stayed here twice and absolutely love it. The location is great, safe, near the subway, and Yankee stadium!
The service is wonderful. I am not one for shared bathrooms but have both times I’ve stayed here, it was never an issue.
Still have privacy and I love the easy but secured access in and out. It feels like your own place!
Thank you Uncle Julio for taking such good care of me when I’m in my fave city!
I totally recommend staying here.
- lionel (2/5): - First day TV was not working, second night no fresh towel , ventilation not up to standard, no light in stairway, it’s really not a place to stay and I was there on business and not happy which is under your listing where hotels.com will get bad ratings, personally will never use hotel.com against
- Yolanda (10/5): Home away From Home - I was skeptical about staying at a guest house. But Mi Casa Tu Casa put my fears to rest. It was a really great experience. I felt like I was at home. I stayed here with my two grand daughters and they loved it especially the hammock in the back yard. The room we stayed in was very spacious. The home was cleaned and well maintained. We really had the run of the house. We had to share a bathroom which I thought would be a inconvenient but it was not at all. Even though there were other guests staying there, it was free when ever we needed it so sharing the restroom was no problem at all. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook a meal. We came and went as we pleased. It was quiet enough for me to do homework with full access to their secured WiFi. Our first day there, we walked to Yankee stadium to watch a game and it only took us about 10 minutes on foot.
It was very close. Subway is just minutes away to catch the 2,4 and 5 which takes you further into the Bronx or the opposite direction into downtown Manhattan. That was a huge plus for me. Blanca and Julio were the perfect hosts. They really treated my grand daughters and I like family. I frequently visit the Bronx and can honestly say I have a home away from home to come to when I come to visit again.
- Lisa (6/5): Great place - Great place to stay kusy very noisy outside at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall a nice, low-key, no frills place. The owner, Julio, was extremely friendly and helpful.
My only drawback is the lack of locks on individual rooms.
- Paris (8/5): Excellent - It was very nice and comfortable how ver the room was pretty small and didn't exactly have two twin beds but a day bed and a trundle. So we couldn't walk around much in our room. But it was a beautiful house to be 153 years old. The neighborhood was fairly nice AMEN the place Ian close to all of the trains so you can get around very easily. I think that it should have cost a little less though because we had a shared bathroom and could've been a little more comfy. But all in all it's definitely a great place and I would go back.
- younsu (10/5): - The owner is so kind
- Bobby (10/5): Great Stay - The hosts are very kind and generous people. They were very helpful with questions and directions. We enjoyed our authentic taste of the Bronx life.
- Orbadella (10/5): A safe and clean place to stay in New York - The owner's treat you as though you are part owner of their home. There no restrictions while you're there. The street where the guest house is located is clean and the mall is in walking distance. Yankee stadium is also in walking distance. The food nearby is excellent and the vendors is fair with their prices. Safety was our number one priority and the owners made us feel safe. In fact, there was no need to hide your money or lock your door!. We would stay again anytime.
- Jeana (10/5): I heart The Bronx! - Let's be clear- this is a rooming house. We knew that when we signed up. The proprietor, Julio made us feel very comfortable and was very helpful for our first stay in NYC. It is a historic home, and our room was very clean and comfortable. This is the way to really experience life in NYC!
- Juan (10/5): Wonderful host for a wonderful home. - My girlfriend was visiting me from out of town and I needed a place that felt like home away from home. Mi Casa Tu Casa was exactly that. The house and the room itself were so charming and comfortable but it was the owner who made it special. Julio could not have possibly been a better host. He was a friendly, non-anxious presence and a courteous person. There was an issue with the room we requested so we were upgraded to a room with a view at no extra charge. I haven't slept so well in years. Will definitely be returning here.
- Mercedes (8/5): Home away from home! - Mi Casa, Tu Casa is a lovely and charming place to stay. The iqber us wonderfully wity, kind and xan twll you everything you need to know about enjoying New York.
- koffi (4/5): He is very rude.. - I liked the location.....Just remember that it's not a hotel it's a private house.....the bath is shared just in case you don't know.
I would give him 4-star if he was nice.
Instead of accusing Expedia for their mistake of the Checkout date he came to my room start screaming at me and tell me that we will kick me out by force.
- Joe (10/5): Generous sized room convenient to subway - Not a hotel, but a private residence in the residential Bronx. But it's a short walk across the bridge to Harlem, and just two blocks from the 4 and 2 trains, making it very convenient to both midtown and The Village. Would I stay there again? Absolutely!!
