The beds are clean and comfortable, the common area is a great place to relax and meet people, and the facilities (both east and west) are aesthetic with lots of accommodation. On top of that, the staff are very friendly and don’t shy away from helping travellers. Would highly recommend.

The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, the staff was great and the location was right next to the market making for lots of dining options and things to do. The only thing I’d advise is to bring ear plugs- the walls are quite thin and with it being a hostel people are up all hours of the night being quite loud. Otherwise a perfect experience!

You are close enough to all the buzz but far away enough that it’s still quiet. The staff were helpful when needed, there were great facilities and it’s all clean and spacious compared to similar stays elsewhere. Would definitely stay here again!

• Ryoko (10/5): 良かったです - 新しく、場所も良く、長期滞在にも向くホステル。 東西２館あり、コミュニティスペース、キッチンが充実しているので、自分のパソコン広げてゆっくりできるのが良かったです。毎日新しいバスタオルとフェイスタオルが使えたのも◯。 ドミトリーは二段ベッドですが、ハシゴではなくステップになっているので上段でも上がるのに問題ありませんでした。 強いて言えば、地下鉄などの最寄り駅から多少歩くロケーションではありますが、もともとこのエリア自体が交通至便、どこへ行くにも便利なエリアですし、10分程度の京都町並みウォーキングも楽しめます。 私自身、次回の京都滞在ではまた宿泊したいと思います。 あと、ちなみにですが、当サイトでは夜12時までチェックインできるような表記でしたが、フロントの方いわく11時までが基本だそうですのでお気をつけください。

We had a room with a bunk bed - tiny, but enough if you just need a place to sleep. A bit disappointed as we booked the room with breakfast (via Hotels.com) and it turned out the hostel does not provide breakfasts. It has a wonderful roof terrace. Good value for money in general. I would recommend.

The installations are kept very clean, they provide slippers, towels, and pillows just outside the door if you need them. The downstairs area it's really nice. They sell lots of different drinks and some food too. It is very conveniently located by all the major shopping and dining areas in sanjo, but just far away enough that it isn't noisy at all.

• Kyung-Yoon (10/5): 편하게 잘 지냈어요! - 직원 분들이 아주 친절하고 영어가 굉장히 능숙하세요. 그래서 더 편했구요...! 방은 여느 일본 호텔처럼 좁지만 그래도 괜찮은 편이었어요. 엄청 깨끗하구요. 그리고 공용장소 퀄리티가 엄청 좋아서 만족스러웠습니다. 지하 바가 정말 예뻐요. 무료 조식도 엄청 맛있어요ㅎㅎ 저는 개인 욕실 딸린 방을 쓰긴 했는데, 공동 욕실도 있을거 다 있고 깨끗하고 좋더라구요. 굳이 단점을 꼽자면 주변 지하철역까지 10분 정도 걸어야된다는건데 니시키 시장이랑은 엄청 가깝고 동네 길도 예뻐서 구경하면서 다닌다고 생각하면 나쁘지않습니다.

Emplacement très central près de grandes artères commerçantes et du marché. 7 à 12 min du métro à pieds. 1100¥ pour la gare en taxi. Plein de restaurants à proximité pour manger. Possibilité d’apporter son repas et manger sur place.

They serve a pretty great free breakfast which included rice, hard boiled eggs, Japanese pickles, and an assortment of breads. The facilities are super clean and it is located in a great spot to explore Kyoto. There are also a ton of great food spots within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again if I came back to Kyoto.

• Madeline (10/5): Super convenient with everything you need! - Great hostel! We had a private room with ensuite bathroom and it was everything we needed. Perfect location - walkable for a lot of shrines/temples/food markets/bars/restaurants. Also within a 10 minute walk to the train station. There's a coffee shop called Sentido nearby, which is open from 8am that was the first good coffee I'd had in a while! The free wifi is obviously very helpful and the reception staff all spoke English well. Would definitely stay here again, such good value for money in a perfect location!

• ben (8/5): Perfect - We stayed in a double room which was small but had everything you needed and expected for this price. Bed was really comfortable and quiet. Breakfast much better than expected and kept us going all day. Clean showers and we never had to wait for one to be free. Nice communal areas to sit in and friendly staff make this a perfect choice to explore Kyoto from. We would definitely stay here again.
• Verified traveler (10/5): A very comfortable stay - Extremely clean with great facilities, staff were very friendly, location is great - walking distance to some sights and other easily accessible by train or bus. The only thing that would make this hostel better, is a more lively atmosphere especially at night. Maybe hosting social things some nights for guests to mingle. Otherwise a fantastic place to stay in Kyoto!

• Cindy (8/5): Wish it was better, but it was still good - I was stressed out when my luggage lock combination was changed by an unknown prankster on April 1st and 2nd while it was in the care of the hostel staff. It only stopped after I placed a note at my luggage telling the prankster to do something better with their time. Guess I will never know who did it. Otherwise, this hostel was great. The staff and management were attentive and took my feedback seriously. They also helped me out a number of times. Just a few lapses which make me unable to award this a full score. It was still a good stay, I just wish it was better. Breakfast is mostly carbohydrates (bread, rice, miso soup) but very helpful for the long walking trips in Kyoto. The location is very good for the Nishiki market and Takashimaya (which happened to have Pokemon Centre Kyoto not too long ago), but a little inconvenient if you want direct access to Kyoto station.
