Guest Reviews
- T3515SHpauls (6/5): Beware of loud music ALL NIGHT - What they don't tell you is they have a beach party disco every night from 8pm until 3.30am. Yes you read it right All night! The thumping music can be heard in every room apparently! So they obviously have no idea of tranquility. Lovely place but completely spoiled by the unnecessary volume of the music.
- BoroboyonTour (8/5): Great location - Off ferry turn left at end of pier 100 yards easy to get there
Room 1217
Great views of pool and sea
Nice room and balcony
Bathroom needs updating
Breakfast ok
Pool area superb loads a beds clean and tidy
Nice stay here
Would stay again
- charleswN5998TG (2/5): RATS IN ROOM!! Serious Hygiene Issues and Extremely Unprofessional Handling - Our stay at Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
From the moment we checked in, the room was already in poor condition. It was visibly dirty, several bathroom tiles were broken, and the toilet flush did not work.
Later that evening, the situation became far more serious. While we were in the room, a very large rat came out from underneath the bed. Within moments, two more rats followed. There were multiple rats inside the bedroom.
We were terrified and ran out of the room immediately, leaving our belongings behind. We had to knock on a neighbouring guest’s door for help, and he kindly went to reception for us. A staff member eventually came upstairs and picked up the rats by hand. The presence of multiple rats inside a guest room is a serious hygiene and safety concern.
We were moved to another room around midnight. Unfortunately, the replacement room was also unacceptable. The toilet flush again did not work, the shower pressure was extremely low, and the bathroom was filthy.
The situation was handled very poorly the next morning. Instead of resolving the issue properly, we were called and told to check out. When we politely asked for a refund due to the serious problems we experienced, staff became extremely rude and dismissive.
To make matters worse, we were given an email address for the hotel manager to raise the complaint, which later turned out to be fake. When we contacted our booking provider to request a refund, the hotel denied the entire incident and claimed nothing had been reported or logged during our stay.
The presence of rats inside a guest bedroom, two defective rooms, and the way the situation was handled is completely unacceptable. The lack of accountability afterwards only made the experience worse.
We would strongly advise future guests to reconsider staying here.
- 350holliem (4/5): Not worth the money!!!! - Had my eye on this hotel for a while before booking as it looked great, amazing location etc. the price seemed worth the money based on all of the above. HOWEVER, upon arrival, the reality of the hotel is nothing like the pictures.
The decor of the room and communal areas of the hotel is incredibly run down and dated and in need of a lot of repair and renovation (this isn’t generally something I would complain about however I have left completely unsatisfied). Also (not the hotels fault, actually this would affect all hotels in the area) but there is one very loud party hostel way down the strip that blares music until 3am every night, so loud that you can feel the base rumbling the room. Light sleepers, be warned!
Above all, my biggest fault that I cannot move past was hearing a rustling noise at midnight and finding a rat running from the bathroom to the bin!! I could not believe it! I have stayed in a wide, diverse range of accommodation across 75 countries and never have I encountered this problem, and certainly not from a resort like this. Staff tried to be helpful and maintenance came and sprayed the room, but they could not explain (language barrier, despite google translate) how the rat had got in and if/where if had now gone. Having read other reviews, I have found that this has also happened to other people which is unacceptable!
Furthermore, the main thing this hotel has going for it is its great location with excellent views, however this is the only redeeming feature. It doesn’t warrant the price at all, without doing some significant work to improve its standard.
I definitely would not return or recommend this hotel. You could certainly find a hotel of a better quality elsewhere on the island.
- Dillowba (2/5): Not worth the money and not great customer service - This hotel isn't cheap for the area so you pay for a better experience.....be warned you won't get it
Broken safe, no hot water for two nights
shower head dribbles water
such a dated place
so this is so dated the springs poke out of the restaurant chairs
staff are good at fixing things but seems happy to allow unless you complain
my partner and I accidentally dropped a glass ashtray which was probably bought new in 1960 and were charged 200bht to replace it
I asked that fair is fair as I had no hot water for two nights and no safe for one night as broken
I was told it's different as we owe them the money
terrible way to treat clients
will not go again
- tsalosg (2/5): Terrible - €250 per night — and they ruined our honeymoon.
This was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We were on our honeymoon and chose this place expecting something special. Instead, it turned into a nightmare.
The room smelled terrible from the moment we entered. Extremely old bed and mattress, ancient and dirty bathroom, outdated sink and tap, bad-smelling water, and a fridge that was almost rotten. Poor lighting, only one power socket, and visible dirt in several places.
Noise was constant, but the final insult was at 2 AM, when they started drilling the wall with power tools. Completely unacceptable, especially during a honeymoon.
The buffet was not fit for human consumption, so we did not eat there at all during our stay.
The only positive was the air conditioning.
On top of everything, the receptionist May was rude, ironic, and aggressive. Charging €250 per night for this is outrageous. Avoid at all costs.
- luceemcdonald98 (10/5): Amazing hotel with the best view!! Highly recommended for anyone staying in phi phi ⭐️ - Amazing hotel!! This hotel is gorgeous I really don’t understand how it’s only rated 3 stars. The view from our balcony was like something from a postcard!! We stayed here for my partners 30th bday whilst visiting Thailand and it did not disappoint we cannot understand the negative comments! Yes you can hear loud music at night but it is on Phi phi islands which is known for tourists partying at night time and also the island is so small the hotel cannot do anything about bars playing music! The staff were so friendly at this hotel and carried our luggage to our room on arrival, they even did a bed decoration for my partners 30th. We also extended for 1 more night as we didn’t want to leave. Hotel is right near the port if you’re coming in from somewhere else, so u can walk yourself to the hotel. Loads of bars/ restaurants around, you could probably walk round the whole island in a couple of hours. Breakfast was a bit random offering curry etc early in the morning but it did also have a few basic English items available (eggs, sausage etc) Overall highly recommended for somewhere nice in phi phi! And would 100% return ☺️
- graceg517 (8/5): Enjoyed our visit - Nice hotel with a good room, really cosy balcony and a beautiful view. Overall clean and with a really nice pool and access to beach. Located within walking distance from pretty much anywhere. Would recommend headphones/earplugs as can hear music from bars in the evening.
- FarAway40629144449 (10/5): 5 out of 5 great food, great service and great location - The Nest Cafe. Amazing service, amazing food, great location nice and quiet away from the busy area. I sat upstairs was so relaxing. Solo traveller so this fit my needs. My calamari and mussaman chicken curry was extra special!! The best curry I’ve ever had like seriously good! The host was so personable and looked after me brilliantly!! The staff attentive and I had a really great experience please try!! It’s only 1 month old so don’t let no reviews deter you. SO GOOD.
- ashleyhoyne (4/5): Mouse in bedroom, outdated, grubby and over priced. - Woke at 3am to find a mouse running around our room and had to then move all our belongings to a spare room at 3am. The staff explained there are a lot of mice/rats on the island and it was out of their control. However the hotel is extremely outdated and our bedroom/bathroom had lots of areas mice/rats could get in. There was a hole in our bathroom ceiling due to water damage and our bathroom sink was not fully sealed. The main bedroom doors open out on to an outside veranda. You also need to hand in your key to reception when ever you leave the hotel meaning you cannot charge appliances or keep the room cool while out. Also a lot of noise coming from the local beach club until around 3:30am. I would avoid staying at this hotel as it was definitely overpriced for what we got.
- JohnT120 (10/5): Perfect piece to paradise - My wife and I have just stopped here for the one night just so that we could enjoy a night at phi phi don. The hotel is immaculate and has a beautiful relaxed feeling to it.
The rooms are beautiful with stunning views. Our room had a view right over the bay. I seriously cannot fault it.
The pool area is so relaxed and nice, and the pool itself is very pleasurable.
Breakfast was very good actually I would even go as far to say as close to being excellent.
If you’re a cat lover, you will love this hotel as there are many cats there.
I do hope we come back and stay in this hotel again
- Diandra (10/5): - Great place
- Clayton (8/5): - Great location
- chelleyb2023 (4/5): Such a disappointing stay - This hotel has a very good location and close to Tonsai pier.
Pool area is well maintained and very scenic.
Rooms are small not great and our bathroom was very shabby. Shower head didn’t work so you had to hold it ( room 1209)
Although it advertises WiFi it’s only available in public areas, not in rooms.
Late checkout was not allowed.
Only had breakfast on one of our days as there was ants in the croissants on first day.
- Sneha (4/5): - While most of the staff were polite and welcoming during my stay, I had a very disappointing interaction with one staff member who spoke to me in an extremely rude and loud manner. It felt disrespectful and unprofessional, which really affected my overall experience. I appreciated the kindness of the other staff, but I hope the management addresses such behavior to ensure every guest feels respected and comfortable.
- MAHMOUD ALI ATIFE (2/5): - I really don't know where to start with this,i stayed for 2 nights from the photos with the pool its looks great but apart from that was terrible would not recommend to my worst enemy.Main light didn't work ,charging point barley worked and would spark, bed was terrible, the whole room looked like something from 1950s.No evaluator. But worse part is the balcony door was so run down i opened it to go outside and the door feel out and smashed,if i slipped i would of been dead! But the hotel was so nice they charged me 17000 baht (£391)!!!!said i caused it!the place is a hell whole if you want to enjoy beautiful PHI PHI DO NOT STAY HERE!! It was the worse hotel i have ever stayed in and scammed me for £391 on top for damage for there run down room .
- Jason (8/5): Great location - Amazing views of the bay, pool was huge and never overviewed.
Great location to the town and the pier.
Loved they had free fruit and snack in the afternoon.
- lilycY2479RG (4/5): Disappointing experience - The location of this hotel and Phi Phi itself was great! Other than that I have nothing positive to say about the hotel. Check-in staff were unhelpful and less than friendly, rooms were in poor condition, dirty sheets and the bathroom and shower were awful. On top of this there was extremely loud music played from a nearby bar until 3.30am every single night which kept everyone in my family awake until it finished getting progressively louder.
I would not recommend this hotel or staying nearby if you would like to get a good night sleep.
- Pdh1977 (8/5): We loved it. - After reading so many poor reviews,we were so pleased to find out we loved staying here,
Yes the rooms are dated but perfectly fine the beds are comfortable
The showers could do with more water pressure,
But the location of this hotel is perfect, the pool the sea the view are perfect,I could never get bored of the view from our balcony,
The breakfasts were fine and staff helpful,
Plenty of sunbeds around the pool
When we come
Back to phi phi we will be staying here again
- Dayakarn (2/5): - I didn’t like anything on this property. In fact I had to shift hotels. Not a friendly staff and the room was not clean to standards. Had stains on the sheets and smelled like mold. My partner is very upset
- Russ (10/5): - The staff was great the room we had the shower wasn’t as clean as it could be. The property was nice, the pool area is great.
- pjgs12345 (8/5): Decent Stay with Some Great Aspects - We stayed at this hotel in Phi Phi for four nights. There were definitely some positives—the beds were clean, the pool was large and fantastic, and the views of the sea were absolutely stunning. The location was also brilliant, just a three-minute walk from the pier, which made getting around super easy.
However, there were a few downsides. The staff weren’t the friendliest, especially at breakfast, and the rooms didn’t feel very clean, particularly the shower room, which was quite dated. Based on the rooms alone, I’d say this is more of a three-star hotel.
That being said, it had its positives, and for the price, it was one of the more reasonable options for what we needed. Plus, we loved that the hotel looked after cats, which added a nice touch to the experience. Overall, it was fine for four nights but could do with some updates!
- mick88traveler (10/5): Nice Hotel - This is nice hotel with lovely people running it. We had a few issues in the initial instance but were quickly solved and totally satisfied. We read other reviews before staying here and found this place to be probably described as reviewed. Pool and customer service were awesome along with the breakfast. The bars nearby are noisy and don't stop till 2am but it is not terribly bad. Overall I would stay here again
- DTra2025 (6/5): Well located hotel with faded grandeur: needs improvements - Difficult to know how to rate this hotel because it had so many benefits but so many challenges. 1. The location is great. It is a 2 min walk from Tonsai pier and all the bars and shops. Very convenient for arriving at the pier and for walking back at night after a few drinks and eats. 2. The view from the pool has to be one of the best in Thailand. The pool overlooks Loh Dalum beach and has the most wonderful view of the limestone cliffs and blue calm waters. What more can you want? 3. The pool is nice and is easy to get in and out of. It does need a little updating but is largely nice. 4. My room had a lovely view over Loh Dalum but it did need renovating. The sliding balcony doors kept getting jammed and the bathroom needed updating. However, on the plus side, the room was well air conditioned, had a smart TV with all the main apps, had a lovely balcony leading to the beach, gardens and pool and had a good fridge and safe for keeping valuables. The bed was comfy. 5. Housekeeping was acceptable, but they made the very bad mistake of leaving the master keys to all the resort rooms in my door. I found these in my door when I got back one day, so anyone could have gotten into my room and could also have taken those keys to get into other people's rooms. This was a very bad oversight and could have led to several rooms being burgled. I did report it to the hotel reception and hopefully they will retrain the housekeeping staff member who did this. 6. The grounds/gardens need more attention and maintenance. The reason I say this was because a falling coconut missed my head by an inch when I was walking through the gardens one afternoon. It missed me and smashed beside me on the path. A falling coconut will kill you if it hits your head because they are very heavy and so solid and fall from the top of the tree. Other guests should try to avoid walking under the coconut trees in the gardens, You have been warned. 7. There is some level of noise at night from the beach bars and fire shows and this noise continues to around 3 am. If you like to go to sleep early at night, do not stay here. The noise comes from some distance away but can still affect sleep. 8. the staff at this hotel are generally friendly and helpful. Be nice to them because they are trying their best to accommodate a large number of people. All in all, I had a relatively good stay this hotel which has a faded grandeur. Twenty years ago this was probably one of the superior hotels on the island. It just needs some TLC and investment.
- shannonbazil (4/5): Probably great when it opened, many years ago - Well first of all I have to say that the location is absolutely fantastic but that’s about it.
The pool area is huge and has stunning views however the beds need replacing and the pool area needs some tlc.
The rooms were a good size and the bed comfortable enough but very very dated, the shower was just a dribble yet somehow still flooded the bathroom every time it was used.
The view from the balcony was lovely, sadly the chairs were uncomfortable and the balcony not very clean.
The gym we thought would be great as next to the pool and outside and also a good size but sadly not a single thing could be used as it was either broken/snapped or completely rusted.
Out of our 3 weeks in Thailand and many places visited/stayed this breakfast was by far the worst in fact it was absolute chaos!!
The restaurant was dirty, plates not cleared and staff just stood around, no interaction at all. Had to clear our own table and find our own clean cutlery. All of the food was cold, the only thing about edible was an omelette which took 20 minutes to make again because staff just stood around and no one seemed to know what they were doing making for a very stressful experience. It was so bad we didn’t eat there for the two following days even though we had breakfast included!
I wouldn’t return to this hotel, a shame really as with some friendly staff (for a start) and a lot of tlc it could be improved.
- izzys432 (4/5): Passable - Stayed at the Cabana Hotel for 3 nights. The pool and location is perfect. However…
- Sunbed cushions at pool all need to be replaced
- Beds were very hard
- Water pressure was shocking in the shower, it dribbled out
- Water coming out of the taps smelt like sewage
- No refill of shower soap so we were left without any
- Breakfast is suppose to finish at 10am, but at 9.45am they were already clearing away, including the labels on what was in each dish - therefore not informing people of what was inside. I asked the lady for a poached egg and she rolled her eyes and sighed at me - this happened with 2 different ladies on 2 different mornings! No plates or cutlery laid out for breakfast either
Overall, abit disappointing but the location and pool were very good.
- 661lindseyg (10/5): Perfect Stay! Ignore The Bad Reviews! - I don’t understand the bad reviews, our 3 night stay was perfect! The beach can be seen from both sides of the hotel. The pool area is great! Yes the rooms are dated but you only sleep and shower in there! Rooms cleaned everyday, new towels and water provided. Pool towels rented from reception. Breakfast was good. We only ate at the restaurant once for lunch and it was average but we went out for food in the evenings anyway. Would recommend this hotel. We didn’t pre book, just turned up on the day.
- Atcha (8/5): - Bathroom is not working well.
- Daniel (6/5): - The hotel has a specular view and it´s very convenient just few steps from the dock. However, the room was extremely dirty. We had to help the staff to move the beds and other furniture around to make sure they could clean the floor properly.
- Giles (10/5): - Great place to stay. Friendly staff, nice pool and poolside bar. Hotel is a bit tired but it has character and given what it and the island went through all those years ago, i wanted to stay here and pay my respects. Thank you!
- X5333KSzoef (2/5): Avoid at all costs ! - This is honestly a review that’s being shared so people don’t make the same mistake as us! We booked this as a one night stay to get away from a busy area in Phuket .. we arrived and although the location is spot on and the pool area was overlooking the beach we then checked in to our room.. we also checked straight back out ! The room was like walking back into the 60s with mahogany decor and very basic equipment , we wouldn’t have minded basic for a night however the room was filthy! The floor still had tissues from the previous guests .. the shower door was hanging off , there was still urine around the toilet and the bed hadn’t been made. Literally disgusting to say the least! This was supposed to be a “superior double room” Luckily for us our agent refunded the money but please avoid as your trip of a lifetime will be spoilt if you turn up here .. it’s a shame because with the right work and love it could possibly be one of the best hotels on phi phi .. Do not book!
- GdNG12 (2/5): Give this one a swerve - Rooms are severely dated which I could live with but it’s also quite dirty, arrived to a dirty bathmat, hair in the drain and shower floor (along with a fair bit of rust and mould) tap was so full of limescale that it just sprayed water in all directions.
Bathroom door so stiff I had to use body oil to get it moving. No instructions how to use the safe and it’s not that straight forward
The bed is like a plank of wood, it’s so hard. We had 3 nights and hardly slept. Not helped by the beach party that goes on till 3am every single night, windows are single glazed so can hear the music really loudly. Then just as you drop off the party goers arrive back yelling and screaming waking you again.
Breakfast not very good and breakfast room staff are rubbish they don’t replenish stuff once it run out. Breakfast finished at 10 we went about 8.30 and had already run out of milk and fruit and it wasn’t replenished.
Only saving grace here was we had a beautiful view.
- MollieWalks (4/5): Proceed with caution… - There’s no getting around it… this hotel is pretty dismal. Having booked it in July this year, I’ve spent the last 5 months being anxious about our impending stay here. So what follows is an honest review of our hotels nights at the Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel…
Location:
First things first - if you are looking for luxury, you need to stay at one of the resorts on the north of the island. You will not find anything comparable to 4 star or above on the main stretch. We knew this when we booked, but wanted to be in the middle of all the action, so were happy to accept that any of our accomodation would be rough and ready.
The hotel is on a very narrow strip of land and therefore has both beaches on either side. I challenge anyone to find a better view on the island than the one from the pool.
It’s 2 minutes from Tonsai pier, a bonus when you’ve spent 2 hours on a ferry getting here. The location of this hotel really is fantastic if you want to be close enough to the action, but far enough to be able to sleep at night. You can still hear the nightlife, which is around 250 meters up the beach, but it wasn’t bad enough to keep us awake.
The hotel:
The building itself is actually quite impressive compared to some of the other offerings on the island. It feels like 30 years ago, this would have been the best hotel on Phi Phi. The overarching issue is nobody seems to have done anything with it since then - no refurbs, no maintenance, nothing to keep it up to scratch. If I were an investor, I would be snapping this place up in a heartbeat and refurbing it top to bottom - it would be an absolute goldmine with some TLC and the right management.
The rooms:
The rooms are basic and old at best. The bed was uncomfortable HOWEVER made much better by requesting a second lot of pillows. There is a safety deposit box at no extra charge, and a tv you can plug a fire stick in. The air con was very effective and looked to be newly installed. WiFi was okay in the room but not great at the pool area. There is a good size fridge which we used for our own stash of drinks, snacks ect. You get one room key for your stay which is 1000 baht if lost. Rooms are cleaned daily and new towels provided each time.
The bathroom was EXTREMELY outdated and stunk of sealant - but plenty of hot water for showers.
There is no getting around the fact that you WILL get bitten while on Phi Phi - no matter where you stay or how much insect repellent you wear - we woke up every morning with half a dozen new bites each.
Breakfast:
Do not bother booking breakfast here. It is quite literally the worst breakfast experience I’ve ever had. The room isn’t fit for purpose, everything is dirty, service/attention to detail is terrible, the food offering is terrible. Save yourself the money and head 5 minutes up the road to Patcheree bakery instead - fantastic food, huge menu and great service. We ate here every day after our initial hotel breakfast disaster.
Pool:
The pool is well positioned with amazing views of the beach/sea/islands. The pool itself is a really good size and has plenty of sunbeds, albeit like everything else at the hotel, they are old and lack some TLC. We didn’t use the pool bar as we bought bits from the local shops. They offer a complimentary ‘afternoon tea’ everyday which actually consisted of a slice of dry toast and a filter coffee… Naturally we didn’t bother.
Staff:
Although the staff were pleasant enough, it just feels like nobody really cares about what they are doing here. It’s like they feel they’re on a sinking ship and just getting on it with it until it inevitably shuts down for refurb.
Overall, if you need somewhere well positioned for exploring the island with a good pool and somewhere to crash on a night, you’ll probably be fine here - just don’t expect anything more than a very basic experience. We stayed for 4 nights but wouldn’t be in a rush to make it 5!
- FRED (8/5): - Very Nice property nice pool area and close to the pier
- U9538FNrobk (4/5): Disappointing stay - We are just coming to the end of a 4 night stay at the Phi Phi Cabana and to say we are underwhelmed is an understatement.
The hotel has so so much potential but sadly what appears to be total mismanagement and budget let's the hotel down.
Location
The hotel complex is pretty vast and has hundreds of rooms. The location is second to none. 2 minutes walk from the pier and the hotel spans both sides of the island.
Grounds/Lobby
On first arrival the lobby and grounds seem immaculate.
Upon closer inspection the cracks start to appear. Work is required to maintain what was likely once a grand hotel.
Pool area
The pool is the hotels real pulling power. Not only is it vast, it's views are second to none.
The pool is spectacular. However again under closer inspection work is required, missing tile here, damaged bed there. It's also quite dirty. Shame as it is spectacular. There is a small pool bar which has no atmosphere at all. On an afternoon they claim to do free afternoon tea which is some watermelon and filter coffee in the pool bar.
Breakfast
We went once and wished we hadn't bothered. It was absolutely dreadful.
We decided we'd rather pay for breakfast else where for the other 3 nights.
Rooms
The actual main room isn't too bad, there's good air con that appears to be relatively new, a safe, fridge, courtesy umbrellas etc.
The rooms are all pretty dated.
The bed itself was awful. A really only and really hard mattress with terrible pillows. My pillow was so old it was like sleeping on a bag of rags.
The bathrooms are up there with the worst I've seen in a hotel. Smelly, dirty, dark and so so old.
The shower room was like something out of a horror movie.
The bathrooms need urgent renovation.
Overall
This hotel could easily be one of the best hotels on the island. With it's size and it's spectacular pool area people would flock here.
The real sad thing is at this hotel Is that no one seems to care. From reception to the breakfast servers to the pool barman no one is really interested. There is in my opinion a issue with the management of this hotel and the culture of the staff. Everything Is done half-assed.
With a little.bit of money spent and probably a change in management this hotel could be fantastic.
I gave it a 2 star rating, the pool gets it up from 1.
I would avoid as think there are better options available on the island.
Shame really.
- 731mehnazm (2/5): Experience that we had with Hotel Cabana was one of the worst of its kind, never have we been in this situation before. - I had the worst experience with these people they accused us for breaking their TV and called police on us, they demanded 5000 thb, they were so rude, we had a terrible experience with them, place has not been upgraded for decades, mattress was yellow and dirty, whole place was mosquito infested and smelly, and I am still in shock that after we said your tv is not working they accused us for breaking it and crossed all limit to then call the police on us, we had to go to the police station and give explanations who then cleared us. Worst experience ever.
- HonestAbe60 (2/5): DO NOT BOOK HERE! - ) One of the worst places to stay on Phi Phi. I’m writing this review at 11 at night here so if you plan on coming tomorrow, I’ll save you the terrible experience! The beds have to be the worst in all of Thailand. There is the world’s loudest music playing at a bar down the street until 4 am. Do your research before you book here. Read the rest of the negative reviews. Save your time and money and go somewhere else! All the equipment in the gym is broken and outdated. I got food poisoning by the breakfast here. Please learn from my mistakes. Do not book here!
- annaSa9660JV (2/5): Short stay in Phi Phi island - This hotel is ideal for short stays and to take advantage of its central location on the island. In fact, it is only a 2-minute walk from the port.
The rooms are a little outdated, as is the entire hotel. In general, it is a bit shabby, but for 1 or 2 nights it can be manageable.
At night the area is quite noisy as there is a disco on the beach and the noise echoes.
It has a large pool and sunbeds with a sea view and the breakfast buffet is good.
The staff is not very attentive and unprofessional. There are many aspects that could be improved.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend it because, compared to other hotels I visited in Thailand, I didn't get on well.
- Maria (6/5): Best pool and view. - A very lovely hotel in a traditional style with some overall updates. So much could be done to save this place, starting with sustainability. With the tourist pollution problem this hotel is still using plastic bottles . Beds are so hard and noise at night unbearable till 3am despite being given earplugs by staff at checkin. The outlook from the hotel is stunning and it is well located centrally. The bathroom in our room was in poor shape though functional. I really wanted to clear out the circular pool gardens of weeds! Could so easily be achieved.
- Darren P (10/5): Great hotel in amazing location - Perfect location 5 minute walk from the pier and same distance to get into town where all the restaurants and bars are. When we left the pier there were lots of people holding signs for hotels, our guy loaded our luggage onto the trolley and walked them down to the hotel for us. We arrived at 12pm and were allowed to check into our room immediately? With our luggage also been taken . As soon as I walked into the pool area absolutely stunning views of the sea and pool , I immediately booked additional nights. I would recommend mosquito spray to blast the room every night as you are next to a jungle, it is noisy at night time due to the bars playing music till the early hours but that didn’t bother us. Perfect find!
- J. Eric (4/5): - The view was nice, the pool is also very nice, but the bathroom and shower were horrible, the mattress felt like a bag of bricks. The pillows were just small brick bags. This place would be really nice if they updated their bathrooms and just got some new mattresses and bedding. That place has a lot of potential if somebody were to take it over and revamp it
- ay0n1 (2/5): Not worth it! … it is a very bad place to stay - Terrible hotel. Very unfriendly, very rude and inattentive front desk staff (WHERE IS THE MANAGEMENT?!)
Very old fashion hotel that needs a lot of attention. NO WiFi, only in public areas and still keep dropping every 2 minutes. Their beach is full of rubbish, broken glass and plastic, very unpleasant beach. Poor shower and bathrooms are awful. Cleanliness leave as a lot to desire. No value for money at all. Don’t go there, this hotel had it days…
- shrutig933 (2/5): Mean staff - The worst kind of staff I have ever seen in my life. They are unhelpful, rude and racist. The location is old, staff is the so bad. The hotel is ONLY ENJOYING THE LOCATION USP. Rest I wish I could give it a minus 1 star. But that’s unfortunately not possible.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great pool, large room and delicious breakfast. Staff are lovely also. Close to town and dock station.
- Stephen (4/5): - A bit run down. What would make it better is more renovation and cleanliness
- Karl (8/5): - Overall - We had a lovely stay at this hotel and would recommend for others.
We hotel is in a very good spot with a lovely pool, small outside gym and a view of the quiet side of the Phi Phi Beaches.
If you can, I would absolutely recommend a room with a sea view.
The hotel rooms were nice but the bathrooms could do with some updating. I felt this was the only area which was not up to scratch in the room.
One thing to note and this doesn't fall on the hotel itself but the ongoing parties in the Phi Phi mainland mean there is some noise in the evenings. The hotel room did a good job of blocking this out which was good.
Thank you to the staff and the hotel for a lovely stay at one of my favourite places!
- Matthew (4/5): - Great location, loads of space, only issues were room was very run down, dirty and 2 light bulbs working. When you visit you know why the bathrooms are not in the pictures
- Teri (10/5): - A very nice hotel. In a more quiet part of the island.
- Laura (6/5): Great location but very run down hotel. - The pool and views are picture perfect. However the rooms and hotel are very dated. There is also a reason why there isn’t a picture of the bathroom as they are the worst part. Depending on the room you get given depends on quality. We first had a run down room with small bathroom that was falling apart and floor peeling and tripping up. When moved room was smaller but better equipped. Breakfast was basic and service not the best. Reception staff helpful. Location is away from the noisy bars so is quieter but not too far from shops/restaurants.
- Timothy Peter (6/5): - Tried to charge me for a sheet that it was suggested that I'd stained. Definitely not my issue. Had to walk away as they were shouting at me....
- Terri (10/5): - Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and a beautiful pool overlooking the sea!! This is a perfect location on Phi Phi island!
- Reece (6/5): - It is right on the water close to the beach but loud from the bars. Our bathroom was dirty when we arrived and our shower door was broken.
- Jason (6/5): - This is an old property but certain areas head been updated. Our room was good but our shower was gross! The view and location was amazing
At $145 Canadian bucks a night there was much cheaper for equally or better value.
- LORELAY (8/5): - Near the pier. Great breakfast buffet. Beautiful pool. Broken shower door.
- Charity (8/5): - The rooms were very outdated, the beds were hard, and the showers were difficult. But good location and nice swimming pool.
- Zahira (6/5): - Requires remodeling. Super dirty shower. They did not allow me to participate in the meals in the afternoon because they thought I was not at the hotel and since they hardly understand English they did not understand me. They had nowhere to refill water to drink and they didn't even offer me a bottle.
- Douglas (8/5): - Bad attitude at front desk. Breakfast is awful
- Sofia (10/5): - Wonderful view!!
- Lori (8/5): - I wanted to give this place 5 stars because the pool was wonderful and we liked the breakfast. The staff was great and it's in a convenient location. But the bathroom was in really rough shape. It felt dirty, the toilet only worked part of the time, and it felt like it was falling apart and in need of an update.
- winton (4/5): - Hotel room was dirty. Other people’s hair in the shower, and by the bed.
Extremely dated. Cats piss in the hall ways. Was disgusting
- Eric (10/5): - Great pool perfect location
- SeattleTraveler (2/5): - What a dump!!! AC only partially working (room not cold); no hot water at all!! They advised us at check-in that the AC and hot water were being “cleaned” and would be fully functional at 2pm. This turned out to be a lie so we did not go stay at another hotel. Both the AC and hot water tank were not working at this property and they did not want to tell us this as we would have stayed at another property. Our room was infested with mosquitos; we spent the first 30 minutes in the room killing mosquitos. There is standing water in broken water features and broken pool, which are breeding grounds for mosquitos The duvet cover was not clean; we found blood on the underside of the duvet and one pillow. we did not see this until time to sleep. They obviously just flipped it over when turning the room over from one guest to the next. Pool was under “renovation” but they did allow us to use another hotel’s pool. One of the water glasses in the bathroom had lipstick on it when we checked in. The mattress is one of those old metal coil springs from the 1970s; you can feel each metal coil when you sit or lay on the bed. This hotel is in complete disrepair and dirty. And the sad part is we paid over $200 USD per night for our room at this dump. Shame on Expedia for selling rooms at this hotel! This hotel needs to be removed from Expedia immediately. DISGUSTING
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel smelled really bad. The sheets, pillow covers, pillows smell like it hasn’t been changed for a long long time. Rooms smell moldy.
- Lee (6/5): - Only stayed here for one night, but that was long enough! Our room had a serious mosquito infestation! We literally killed about 10 mosquitos upon entering! We called the front desk about the problem and they came to spray the room with something that kills them...but I can’t say that helped much. On top of that there was no hot water in the bathroom and beds were super hard! Pretty much a hostel standard hotel. Pros: the location is just a 4min walk from the ferry and the view from the room was pretty nice.
- Ilay (2/5): Horrible - The hotel is hiding the bathroom and toilet, so you cant see them in the room picture!
The rooms are terrible, dont fit to these days standards. We left the hotel 5 minutes after first check in.
- Tj (4/5): - The best feature of this hotel is it’s proximity to the pier...literally a 5 minute walk. This hotel has very traditional “ancient temple” decor; which was charming at first, until I unearthed all of the modern day issues. No hot water complaints from my room as well as other guest rooms, immobile shower doors that made it difficult for anyone over 185lbs to enter through, an old fuzzy TV, broken towel racks and the worst by far was THE HARD BED!!!! This bed felt worse than sleeping on the hard slippery tile floors in the room!!!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Switched rooms 4 times because none of there aC was cold just blowing hot air. The bathroom shower doors were broke. I’m still in a room that ac doesn’t blow cold and they still didn’t do anything about it
- David (10/5): Very central to pier, clean, nice staff - Nice hotel, very close to the pier from Krabi/Phuket etc, only a 5 min walk if that. The reviews I read on the hotel before staying here mentioned the decor etc. Yes the hotel is a bit dated (1980s) however location wise this is great. Air con is a bit old fashioned so not the greatest and cooling you down but the positives are; really big swimming pool, your a matter of metres from the beech, hotel is clean, friendly staff and very central to everything. I would suggest if your going to Phi Phi though that you go for more than 2 days like we did. There is so much to do so we wished we stayed here longer. When we come back to Phi Phi I would stay here so I definitely recommend this hotel.
- Nicole (8/5): Nice place - Nice place. Good location, close to everything but not in the middle of everything. Air conditioning quality is poor. Bathroom cleanliness is so-so. Loved the pool area.
- Dre (8/5): - It's an island with limited resources so please understand water is low flow, AC is older and at 80% cold, it's humid in July is quite hot for Westerners, great location on quieter side that is the very close to the pier where most of the transport leaving the island. Very close to massage, food, main road. Pick the other side of the island if you want to 'live & see " the beach side. This hotel is very large with a few large auditorium meeting spaces. It was very very quiet in July but with all the meeting hall ways (not meeting rooms), gathering centers, this resort can be busy with tours. We barely saw 6 people in the 3 days we were there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel and position. Wonderful view acros the bay!
- Ryan (10/5): - Great, convenient location with an amazing view. If you want to arrive by boat, almost instantly arrive and check in, and have close access to all the main amenities, this is an excellent, convenient choice. While not all Phi Phi hotels have a view, this hotel has two great ones: a spectacular view of the north bay (from the large pool area and many of the rooms), and another view to the south bay mere footsteps away, on the other side of the shore, where you can eat at the hotel restaurant. Magical experience swimming in the north beach at night watching the clouds over the mountains. The hotel pool is large.
Front desk staff are courteous. There’s a tourism desk to the side, with a very helpful man who can book different trips for you (I paid him for a snorkelling boat tour), and he can also sell you a very good price on the return ferry trip (I think I paid him only 350 or 250 Baht and that included van shuttle transportation to the Phuket airport). There are also ferries going back to Krabi.
This hotel has easy walking access to the entire main urban area of the island, but is located on the east side that’s more peaceful. If you walk about 20 minutes on the streets/pathways to the west, you’ll cover almost all of the restaurants, shops, hotels and pubs, and can then access the stairs up to the scenic mountain viewpoints on the west side mountain.
One disadvantage is the evening noise from nightclubs far away down the beach; their music stops at 1am.
- Somedude (10/5): - Wow! Amazing view of the ocean and beautiful pool! Great breakfast!! Close to the pier and an easy walk
- Ian Lawrence N (8/5): Decent stay - We had a decent stay and was walking distance to everything in town. We were able to book our boat tour through our hotel. We had breakfast buffet every morning. Excellent pool view overlooking the waters of Phi Phi. The furnishings were in fair condition.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel for the price. - The hotel is located in a very convenient location on Koh Phi Phi. It is conveniently located near market and far enough from bars that you won't be bother by loud music and drunk people. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The price is at market rate for the location. However the hotel is old and can use some upgrade. Amenity is bare minimum.
- Siti (4/5): Hotel condition is horrible - Staff was very polite but the condition of the hotel is horrible. The whole room was full of mosquito, bed was hard, towels n comforter was given in damp conditions. The toilet was full of stains, overall the room had this one smelly smell. Aircon wasn’t working well. Not worth the price I’ve paid for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pool and view from the pool was excellent. As well as the poolside service. The free breakfast was also great. The wifi was terrible, the cleaning service was not great and the rooms were musty but it did help that the key and the electricity key were different so you could keep the AC on all day. The staff was very uninformed and doesn't speak any English, which is difficult. But all in all, for the price and location, the hotel was great. I will repeat that the pool and the view and location to the beach was phenomenal. You do hear the music from the bars but I didnt mind and that's the price you pay for being so close to the action.
- Hanna (4/5): Very worn down hotel in need of a face lift - Nice rooms but very worn down bathrooms. Pool area and especially the sun beds are very old and not fresh. Service in general very poor. Not a satisfying breakfast. Overall impression was very much under our expectations
- Tomer (2/5): Bad - The hotel is old, the room smells bad with the smell of mold .. Dust everywhere save yourself the aggravation
- Verified traveler (2/5): - View/location / other than that it was terrible and very dirty
- Anthony (2/5): Couldn’t book! - Hotel was average but I as unable to book. They said that there was a problem with booking through hotels.com so they wouldn’t give me a room. Will be calling back in the states for a refund!
- Dana (4/5): - Breakfast - 2 stars
Room & Facilities - 3 stars
Staff - 4 stars
Ambiance/style - 2 stars (only thanks to the wonderful pool)
Location - 4 stars
Final grade - 2.5 stars
When I was on Thailand a few years back as a young backpacker, it was my dream to stay at the Cabana hotel. I remembered the hotel being so impressive and the pool area as a real gem. Years later, despite the not-so-good reviews, I had to book my dream hotel for our honeymoon.
Well, you know what they say - sometimes the real tragedy is getting exactly what you wanted.
I guess the years did its fair share, and the once beautifully decorated hotel got old and so did the facilities. With no appropriate maintenance, the shower did not work properly and there was a bad odor in the bathroom. The TV was from the nineties which was pretty amusing. The balcony was nice though, and we got a glimpse of the ocean.
Breakfast wasn’t good, fresh, or tasty. I would prefer less variety and more quality. The staff was very nice but couldn’t make up for the bad facilities.
The only thing that stayed as beautiful as I remembered was the amazing pool - probably the only thing that is being maintained in the hotel. Having very few people stay at the hotel (we called it our ghost hotel), we had it all to ourselves. It’s located right by the beach and is very convenient with access to the beach and the town. I know we paid way too much on this one and could have gotten a better hotel for this cost.
- Kate (4/5): - Location was fantastic on the beachfront. Buffet breakfast was great. The hotel facilities are very cold and need a revamp. The hardest bed I have ever slept on. And the shower was disgusting, all the tiles were cracked and drain exposed and smelt like sewerage. Also we paid for a garden view apartment but when we arrived there was like a hundred rooms vacant with amazing views so I would think they could have given us one of those.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Dead mosquitos on bed. WiFi does not work in rooms.
- Kristopher (6/5): Old and Rundown. - The hotel is so run down. It felt like an empty ghost town. The room was dirty, filled with mosquitoes, and the AC barely worked.
- Mun Shan (6/5): - Location was good, but the hotel room and swimming pool were poorly maintained.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Pool floor and sides is completely black mold. A lot of construction going on, on pool deck. Most expensive hotel we stayed in on our month long trip to Thailand and the only bad experience we had.
- Charles (4/5): - It's a great location. However, there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms. The website said they had wifi but it's only in common areas. Other than that the hotel matches its star rating.
- Antoinette (8/5): Great stay - Hotel great, breakfast good there was a good variety for all. Only thing I would faukt them on was that there was no wifi in the rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, Good view - Very nice hotel with good view of the water. The hotel could improve it's cleanliness, but overall nice stay. The view is very good
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great location but terrible room - The location was great really close to the pier and the night life. If you like peace and quiet this hotel isn’t for you at night the island comes to life and there’s a lot of noise and music. The room was not clean there was a rat in my bed the staff was nice and let me change rooms but still a lot of spiders couldn’t sleep for days.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice pool, but rooms and breakfast are very poor!! - The pool from the hotel is very nice, with great views. But in general, the hotel inside looks old.
The rooms are not confortable, they didn’t had pluggers beside the bed to charge cellphones. The bathrooms are very small and poor light. The door from the bath tub fall apart, the bed was unconfortable, the water from the sink and the shower was salty and the breakfast was not good!!
Before coming to Phi Phi, we passed by to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Krabi and Phuket and the breakfast from the hotels was amazing. (Paying the same price per night)
To conclude our experience, they didn’t had wifi in the rooms, only in the public areas. SERIOUSLY???
Don’t stay here!
- bubbles (10/5): Right on beach, amazing view & staff was excellent - Close walk to ferry, helpful & amazing staff very willing to help with anything needed. An amazing breakfast spread & the view outside of balcony was postcard!
The cleanliness could use some work, found animal droppings in room & bathroom. The curtains & bedding was stained.
- amy (8/5): Average hotel great location. - Pool was beautiful. Best location on phi phi although a bit outdated. Staff very friendly and accommodating,
- Lita (2/5): HOTEL IS PLAYING GAMES - We have been dealing through Expedia on a very simple issue. Upon check out this property claimed there was a "NO Show" on my husband's traveling companion's reservation. It's a very long story but the short is that the reservation was under a different name on the expedia paperwork. Upon check in the clerk said NOTHING to my husband's traveling companion. When he was checking out they claimed there was a no show on his friend's reservation. Expedia has called the property three times explaining the mix up but they are unwilling to refund us the room charge. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL
- Ellie (8/5): Great location and pool, highly recommend - The pool overlooks beach, you’ll want to take a photo as soon as you arrive. Free breakfast which is good (and includes bacon and eggs!). Restaurant also offers wide variety of foods (Thai, fish, steaks, burgers, salads etc.), we’ve eaten here for lunch and evening meal despite there being so many other places to go on the island. The location is great; nightlife, markets and boat trips are all within a 5-10 min walk but far enough away to get a good nights sleep. When you arrive by boat, you are met by a man with a sign to help carry your suitcases to the hotel (there aren’t roads here). the only downsides are that you can’t get free Wi-fi in rooms (it’s only available around the pool and communal areas) and hot water can be limited if u shower at peak times but I think this is true for all hotels on the island so I wouldn’t let this put u off.
- Chris (4/5): Serious Investment Needed - The shower stall in our room was quite simply a disgrace.
The area around the swimming pool is in a very poor state of repair.
The ceiling was collapsing with rubble on the floor in the upstairs area above the breakfast area.
Hot water supply for showers etc very poor.
- Sebastian (10/5): Awesome location - We loved our stay here. It is right on the beach (our room, even though we didnt requested it, had a sea view and was literally a minute's walk away from the beach), yet it is as far as you can get from all the noise from the rest of the island. It is at walking distance from everything (everything in Phi Phi is). The staff is super friendly and the hotel itself is very clean.
- christine (4/5): Never again - The room was filthy we did not use the shower as the floor was was disgusting and shower head was black overall rank . If its a romantic break not the place to st
- ARTHUR (8/5): Needs some love and attention - The pool and surrounding area has numerous broken and damaged tiles, nobody stopping idiotic adults taking glasses and bottles into pool.
Could also do with a wider selection of cereal for breakfast
