Guest Reviews
- Kevin (10/5): - The resort was clean and well kept. Small I think about 15 rooms. Close to ocean access. Bar close as well. They will serve meals with some notice. Staff and owners were very nice and hospitable. Will be staying here again.
- Rebecca (10/5): Wonderfup - A wonderful short stay.
Maryvelle and all staff (and dogs!) were so friendly and welcoming. We had great recommendations for our stay. We also arranged breakfast and port transfer which was very helpful.
A beautiful property with lovely gardens. Clear to us that Maryvelle cares very much about the style and upkeep of her place.
Our room was spacious, cozy and comfortable with everything we needed.
Would 100% recommend and hopefully return one day
- Dwayne (10/5): - Me and Lorna loved the Property close access to the Beach front , restaurant in vicinity or 2 of them. Groceries convenience store also . Great location before you hit Alona beach community. Maryvelle godbless her and her associates ,t.y. for the Stay, will be back.
- David (10/5): A little piece of Paradise - The owners made us feel so welcome 😃
Just like family away from home. The setting was amazing ❤️
The hospitality and the service and the atmosphere was excellent ♥️
Everyone there made us felt so welcome. I was sad to have to leave. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a little piece of Paradise with an amazing staff and management. Thank you for having us. It was a wonderful experience ❤️❤️❤️
- Randy (2/5): - When I got there, I had to park my car outside the gated property on a muddy road because the owner had 5 dogs.
Also, the wifi wasn't working, I couldn't close the windows all the way and there was a mosquito net over the bed.
The other thing is this property stated beach access.
The beach was a 5 minute walk down the road
- Beatrice (10/5): - excellent séjour, gentillesse et conseils de mirabelle, merci à charly pour la degustation de son rhum maison,a proximité des sites de l’île,à 2pas de l’animation d’alona beach, nous ne regrettons pas notre choix
- Ronald (8/5): - Mary the owner was on the property and she was view helpful with anything I needed . The grounds where well maintained and Tom’s very clean , the only issue I had it stated on Hotels .com it was beach front but sadly to say it wasn’t, but I made the best out of it because the place was quiet and that’s what I was looking for as well . Stood there 2 days then went to another place that was beach front .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very tastefully furnished and landscaped beautifully. A very peaceful and relaxing place, only a five minute walk from one beach and a ten minute walk from another beach
- Peter (6/5): - Upon checking we were given the worst room with no view, no TV, no wifi and the safe did not work. The bathroom was pretty much disfunctional and the free breakfasts were minimal at best, had to pay extra for a cup of real coffee instead of a packet of nescafe. Only redeeming feature was the friendly and accommodating staff.
- rae (8/5): Quiet and off the beaten track - A lovely quiet hotel with amazing staff just minutes away from a quiet beach and Spanish tapas restaurant. Slightly far away from all the action but still a few tourists around who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. it’s wortth getting a moped Definitely! What a beautiful island
- Bobby and Rain (8/5): Relaxing stay close to Alona Beach - This cozy, quiet, place is run by an amazingly, lovely, couple. The grounds are immaculate and the pool was perfect. This isn't a resort to hang out at all day. My girlfriend and I used La Parnela as a jumping point to be out and about. The food here is excellent, especially the eggplant for breakfast. The place does have some dogs who are well trained. So if you do not like dogs, you may want to go elsewhere. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a comfortable, clean, quiet, place to relax between excursions.
- bikey_74 (8/5): A peaceful haven with a nice chatty owner - We weren't blessed by the weather during our stay but our host tried her best to make us feel at home.
The hotel was quiet and unfortunately the food service limited because of this. sometimes we thought we were invading the owners personal space asking for drinks or snacks.
The swimming pool is clean as well as the rooms which are in good condition. The air conditioning isn't new and noisy, maybe worth a replacement soon.
Helpful with tour services and suggestions. The beachfront is around 5 minutes walk away down a dirt road.
There are a lot of dogs in and around the property that are quite noisy throughout the day and night, this may bother some but wasn't too much of an issue for us.
This little resort that has a nice potential.
- annie (10/5): Nice location in a peaceful place ! - Excellent accommodation, big and nice room. Thanks to the manager and staff, we feel like at home !
- Alex (10/5): nicest staff in the world! - Stayed here for 3 nights, but extended it to 5 nights. It is a very remote and quite place, perfect for people who like to travel around Bohol and return to a soothing place at the end of the day. This is not for people who only stay at the resort all day. La Pernala compliments your day when you return from exploring the vast sites to see in Bohol. Every single person on La Pernala were incredibly welcoming and helpful to our every needs. Be it book us a motorbike, give us advice or just chat in general. They were so sweet to us! And the food is the best we have had in the Philippines - it's a must try! When we left Bohol early in the morning with the first boat, the staff and the manager got out of bed to say goodbye and see us off. Absolutely amazing!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Island hopping in Philippines - This hotel is a bit out of the way but if you are a bit adventurous and want to rent a scooter than it's fine as the location is remote and the road is in bad condition! The hotel manager is very friendly but the service is not that good! It's not that it's bad but it goes into the "almost factor" category! It's just fun and funny! The point is relax and meet people! And so we did!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basic hotel that could benefit from a few fixes - I would like to be able to give this hotel 3 stars because of the very dedicated owner, who really tries hard to look after her guests. There are a few issues however. For us, the biggest problem is the fact that I don't think the pictures and description online gives a realistic picture of La Pernela. I distinctly got the impression that there would be nice views, when in fact it is sorrounded by tall trees and vegetation. There is an area across from the hotel where you can kinda watch the sunset, but again, it's blocked by vegetation and there are only 2 seats. One of the key attractions of the resort is the peace and quiet, but the resort dogs and those in the area bark at all times of the night, so it's not possible to get a good sleep. While the food was nice, I found breakfast to be a bit lacking. There wasn't even fruit juice with breakfast. Just eggs/toast and tea/coffee. It was nice that they provided complimentary drinking water, but we found a cockroach in our kettle. Our bathroom flooded anytime we had a shower and the temperature gauge was so high up that I couldn't reach it and had to get my husband to come adjust the temperature everytime I showered.
- Wayne (8/5): Excellent location - Staff were very accommodating. Serene and peaceful. Food was ok, but facilities need a little upgrade and wifi needs to be a little more consistent.
Very good value for money!!!!
Would highly recommend to anyone!!!
- Philip (10/5): Awesome location and stay - Very nice hotel and great service. Staff were friendly and helpful, always a smile and hello which costs nothing but adds so much to the feeling that the people here care about you.
One of the great physical local actions in this area with its own private lovely large beach very quiet when I visited unlike the public beaches close by.
Wonderful room, quiet and clean and lovely soft bed made sleep easy.
Had fun with amenities here and swimming with my 3yr old daughter who turned 4yrs old during the stay and was surprised with a cake by the staff at dinner.
