Guest Reviews
- Lucie (9/5): - We had a great stay. The staff were very accommodating and kindly helped us shorten our stay without any issues. They also informed us whenever a rhino was near the hotel, which made the experience even more special. Every day, bottled water was replenished in the room, which we really appreciated. Overall, excellent service and a wonderful experience.
- Nina (8/5): - The best thing about the place is the guide, Mr Mangara. He is absolutely the BEST! The rooms which say river view no longer have a proper river view since they are building a block of rooms in front of the existing rooms. The food at the restaurant is also mediocre, better to eat out if you are staying here.
- Cameron (9/5): Incredibly friendly staff that handled all of the booking and coordination for our safari plans. The guides they connect - Located right on the river with stunning views and opportunities for wildlife viewing. N/a
- Olivia (8/5): - Very close to everything in Sauraha. The staff were very friendly and organised our safari trips. All went very smoothly. It was nice to be in nature and listen to the birds in the morning
- Dhana (10/5): -
- Yauheni (9/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): Definitely worth a visit! - The team of staff made us feel like we were part of the family. Nothing was too much trouble. They organised very competitively-priced jeep safaris for us - and the guide, Mangara, was top class! Breakfast was included and definitely set us up for the day! The view from our room's balcony was of the river- beautiful! We were even lucky enough to see a rhino wandering through the garden! Couldn't fault River View Jungle Camp! We will watch their development with interest as they are adding a swimming pool and a new restaurant and bar on the riverside.
- MarianneHP (8/5): Dejligt sted. - Dejlig have,tæt på floden, dejlig morgenmad, venligt og hjælpsomt personale. Gode senge. Stort badeværelse Små værelser
- Budhaditya (10/5): -
- JIANI (8/5): - The staff were warm and hospitable, patiently adjusting and explaining the details for my inquiries when arranging activities. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, making sure to stop every time we spotted animals so that we could get a good look. He even helped us get a close-up view of a rhinoceros, which thrilled our child beyond words. The hotel was very clean, and the environment was full of unique charm.
- Eduardo (10/5): - It's an incredible, beautiful and peaceful hotel I have been in Nepal. The mattress and pillows are so comfortable, that I had a good rest
- MD HASIBUL HAQUE (10/5): -

- Carey (8/5): - The staff were amazing. I git sick during my stay and they went above and beyond to take care of me. I am very grateful for their care.
- William (10/5): The staff exceeded all expectations…thank you!! - The location was superb! I think the bed linens could be updated…
- Marion (10/5): Tolles Hotel.

- Purbi (10/5): -
- Navarrete (9/5): Wonderful time spent in welcoming, relaxing environment - Very helpful manager Love, I was travelling alone and he looked after me arranging and accompanying me on crocodile and jungle safari, also a visit to an elephant camp and a traditional dance. food was made to order in the restaurant and the bungalow was spacious in lovely gardens. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife.
- Pete (10/5): Excellent value for money. Relaxing. Amazing wildlife on your doorstep. - Staff were incredibly helpful. Helped book activities and were always attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. Room was comfortable - air conditioning good. Wildlife around the lodge was fantastic. So many birds - as well as rhinos and elephants!! More toilet roll would have been appreciated. There was a mix up with the airport pick-up - but these things happen
- Luca (10/5): Very nice people, clean, pretty comfy, in nature, very central in Sauraha and ideal to see rhinos - Very conveniently located in the centre of Sauraha, the river view jungle bungalow has very nice staff, comfy beds and nice rooms with balcony and air con. The Place is clean and the restaurant is very good. Try their American Chowmein and their chicken biryani(so good). We stayed 4 nights. We always chose "simple breakfast" that is coffee/tea choice of egg style, toast, butter, jam and fruit or hot dogs. We enjoyed a lot the jeep full day safari tour (10 hours). It was a bumpy hard ride due to the state of roads during the monsoon period in the Nat park and on the way back, luckily at the verh end, we even got hit by super heavy rain and a scary boat ride to cross the river back to town due to the rain but everything was worth it. even if the trip i have to say was very expensive imo. Lunch was included. The guide Mangara is so good, he explains everything and is very knowledgeable and stops every time he sees an animal. We saw 4 rhinos, 1 crocodile, 2 types of monkeys, thousands of deers, bisons, monitor lizards, wild boars and many types of birds. We also did the canoe ride and the elephant safari the next day which we liked even if riding an elephant is not an everyday thing and it can be pretty scary if you re not used but the elephant "driver" was good. The property has a very nice cured garden, is pretty big, and on the first day we even saw a rhino roaming the streets of sauraha undisturbed and free and then he even came close to the property to eat grass. The people working there were knocking at our door to tell us the rhino was close in case we wanted to see it. Of course we wanted! The huge rhino is so cute and harmless amd apparently a mascot in town. Thank you so much to everybody at River view Jungle camp Everything was good. Maybe prices of excursions are a bit expensive but i didn't enquire in other places as I trusted they were giving me an average price. I have to say that the guide alone , Mangara, is a plus when taking these tours with them as he is always there explaining things and is geuinely nice
- Tuba (9/5): Superb - Such a beautiful stay, right across the national park! Their restaurant is amazing too 💛
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay - Good room, air con was a bit temperamental though. Food was okay. Staff were attentive and helpful, however they quoted us well above the price other tours offered for activities, so we went with another provider down the road.
- Schalk (8/5): Great value for money and excellent game guide - Very close to the park. Lovely staff, excellent game guide
- Andrew (10/5): - I found this to be a very good hotel. A small week kept property with a very helpful owner.
- Paul (9/5): Close to good riverside restaurants and the canoe to the park and some wildlife. - Location was very good. The staff would knock on our door whenever there was a rhinoceros nearby so we could see it. Our first day we saw elephants. Owner set up tours and transportation. Lots of hot water. Good fridge. On site guide. Friendly staff. The wifi was slow but you could get fast wifi at the office. This time of the year there is lots of smoke in the air.
- Mark (7/5): Great location and very much did the job, but could be improved to make more comfortable. Good. - Great location. Friendly staff. Free pick-up from Bus drop off. Able to organise good value transfer to airport. Able to organise NP safari with various options. Room/facilities a little tired. Bed not the best.
- Nirjana (7/5): Good -
- Bushgypsy3 (9/5): Excellent location and views. - It was a great location and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast could have been better. Only small portion of fresh fruit.
- Kira (10/5): - This is a lovely hotel and jungle resort. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the grounds are a well kept garden. I had a warm breakfast and lots of assistance with my travel plans. I felt very happy staying here and enjoyed all this place has to offer. Perfect location in town as well and along the river. There was a rhino taking a mud bath just a short wak away
- Hannah (8/5): Very good - Very very good Safari with an incredible Guide
- Greg (10/5): Lovely comfortable place to stay with brilliant staff - Very comfortable room, excellent staff, great location, good food. Krishna, the manager arranged all our safaris/ excursions, with Mangara, a superb guide with encyclopediactic knowledge of birds, animals, plants, local Theru culture etc, and there were only my wife and I, guide and driver on all our trips, compared to most of the others we saw with 10/17 people per vehicle. We may have paid more for this treatment, but didn’t even worry about quotes from other tour companies because our experiences were amazing, thanks to Krishna and Mangara. Because of the experience of our guide we saw 11 rhinos, 4 species of deer ,two species of monkeys, sloth bear and golden jackal and 85 species of birds. Best shower recess we had in all Nepal. One of the taps in the bathroom leaked a bit, but we put a bin under it to catch the water
- Michelle (8/5): - We totally enjoyed out stay at the River View. We were picked up from the airport and delivered back. The location was great - right in the middle of the village. The room was clean and spacious. They organised our safari tours for us with their own awesome and very knowledgeable guide! The staff were friendly and attentive.
- Jonathan (8/5): Excellent location to relax by the river - We were the first visitors after the place had experienced a flood from the river overflowing from the previous week. To have cleared all the mess from the floods was an amazing effort by the owner and his team as it meant we were able to have a very enjoyable stay and not rearrange anything. They were in the middle of some building works but they had acknowledged that on the Booking.com info, and as it was during the day, it didn't really affect us as we were out on tours.
We did a walking tour and jeep safari on one day, both of which were excellently led by our guide Mangara. On the the other day we went to 20,000 lakes where saw loads of birds, some deer and marsh muggers (crocodiles). The breakfasts were good and the room was very comfortable with good A/C. All in all, a lovely couple of days. The new building meant that we could not see the river from our room, but this is just a small thing compared to all the other good points.
- Bhavana (10/5): Exceptional - The manager made us feel so welcomed and valued, and his genuine approach to ensuring every guest has a wonderful experience truly stood out. Rameshji has been really kind and patient during our trip to Lumbini which made the trip safe, pleasant and soo enjoyable. Also, the meals we enjoyed during our stay were simply divine. Somduthji also waited till 23.30 to serve us food and ensured we ate properly. Our guide Mungrahji made our safari ride memorable with his broad knowledge about wildlife. He knew all the good spots to look at rhinos. Each of you contributed in your own unique way to making our stay an experience that we will always cherish. Thank you again for everything and for making us feel at home. Will definitely come back again. Nothing bad to say.
- Ryohei (10/5): Amazing staffs, location and hospitality - The best location and best hospitality Nothing
- Gurung (8/5): Very good -
- Katy (8/5): Great location, good for a couple of nights, friendly staff - The location of the property is perfect (on the Main Street) and the staff are really helpful and nice. The room itself great value for money and good for a couple of nights. The outside is beautiful and the room is comfortable with AC and a fan. The shower pressure wasn’t great, more like a trickle of water, and with it being so hot/humid a good shower is really important. Ok for a couple of nights but would struggle staying any longer.
- Romila (10/5): Lovely little hotel - Very good location just beside the river. The staff were courteous and overall great stay.
- Jonathan (9/5): Small, family-run place next to the river - worth a look. - Enjoyed our stay here very much, our host was really friendly and offered help whenever we needed it, but wasn't always bothering us. The staff who served us breakfast were always really kind and polite. Beautifully tended garden, full of blooming dahlia's. Clean room, huge bed, lovely bathroom with excellent shower, hot water never a problem. We had a room overlooking the river which was great. Great location in the heart of Sauraha, but nice and quiet, which we liked. Fortunately, the property is lucky to be expanding and building new rooms... unfortunately, the foundations were being dug during our stay, and the new building is going to be right in front of the old one. We couldn't really sit out on the balcony when they were working as it was noisy and dusty.
More outside seating for breakfast would be much better as you look out onto the river.
Balcony chairs weren't very comfortable even though they look in keeping with the style.
- Ashish (3/5): Poor -
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohit (9/5): Superb - Nice rooms, calm and peaceful environment Some construction Work was going on.
- Chunchun (9/5): Good for stay ! - The dip into nature vibes the hotel had !
- Moira (10/5): Great - Staff mainly, they were very very helpful Only saw 1 Rino lol
- Sarah (9/5): Excellent - Helpful, clean, tidy, hot water and comfiest bed in Nepal!! Water pressure was a little low but after 5 days without a hot shower, the water being hot but slow was NOT an issue for us
- Abhishek (7/5): Good -
- Tattoo (8/5): Very good -
- Annamie (9/5): Superb -
- Ferro (10/5): Everything was perfect, staff, room, view and the manager was so nice, he welcomed us with a tea and he told us a lot of - Location and room
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Laxman (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing host and hospitality
- Joana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noelle (9/5): Felt like a nature retreat. - Spacious & spotless room with lovely balcony exceeded my expectations. Felt like being in the countryside even though it is a central location on the Main Street. Saw a rhino grazing just a few metres outside the fence and saw an elephant bathing in the river. Breakfast a little basic if I’m nitpicking.
- Ralph (7/5): Good -
- Sue (7/5): Great location, friendly & helpful staff - Very friendly staff, great location with easy access to the main street for restaurants etc & a shortcut to the river too. A wild rhino visited several times to eat the grass in front of the restaurant & the vacant block next door. The fence provided protection while able to admire him at close range.
The garden surroundings provide some welcome relief from the hot & dusty Main Street area.
Krishna assisted with booking cultural program & jeep safari & transfer to the airport. Hot water for the shower was hit & miss, the water was always cold in the mornings. The shower head was blocked, but it was fixed as soon as I made them aware.
The mattress was very hard & could feel & hear the springs in it.
The WiFi only worked near the restaurant & would drop out, not a big for me as I had mobile data, but may affect others.
- Orchid (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, you can see rhino in front of hotel. Locate beside of river bank. Big room , clean and good comfy bed
- Jeroen (9/5): Superb - Very beautiful, well maintained and peaceful garden where you can sit to eat or read or relax, which looks out on nature and the river. Overall a lot of green and beautiful flowers. Hospitable owner/manager who loves to make a chat with all guests. Overall felt very homelike and personal. Different kinds of food available. Except for breakfast, the meals seemed to be made on request. This is a great service and there where lots of options, but sometimes it took a while to get it.
- Kasturi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Timothy (10/5): Thanks River View Jungle Camp. - We found RVJC to be an excellent place to stay(stayed in the double/twin rooms with terrace). Our rooms overlooked the Rapti river, assistance with tours and forward bookings from Mr. Krishna(a super host) was greatly appreciated, saw a rhino within the the hotel compound one night, mongoose and common languor before we even got to the national park.
Thoroughly enjoyed the safari in the park(thanks Mr. Burma our guide).
Thank you to all the staff at RVJC and all the best. Nothing all was perfect for our stay.
- Kurt (9/5): Great place to stay while visiting Chitwan - Centered right in town. Older property, which made it feel more remote than it was. Hotel set up our activities and provided excellent guides. Everything was great, but I was overcharged for the last morning ride to the airport (3000 for less than half hour drive), which led to slightly bitter closure to what otherwise was a great stay.
- Molly (9/5): Fun place to be with great staff - Rhinos outside your door, staff were so amazing organising all the things you were wanting to do, so we have no stress planning anything
- Sadinp (10/5): Our two nights stay - Everything.. food is great, staff are amazing and the location is fantastic.. central yet quiet. Cant think of anything.
- Ofir (9/5): Superb - One of the most beautiful and serene hotels I’ve been to- wonderfully located right in front of the green jungle. The facilities are pretty old
- Dr. (10/5): This is central located near Gaida chook and wild type experience we saw to rino from our room balcony - Its good location qnd friendly staff and shrestha and Mahato ( guest guid ) so nice employees Old resort need to renovation
- Ashok (9/5): Superb -
- Datta (9/5): Superb - Location was awesome. .Staffs were excellent . .and the manager was extremely helpful. .
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Tirtha (9/5): Superb -
- Kanata (7/5): Charming .. - the resort location was great and the view from the room is nice, peace and quiet place exactly what we wanted. In the evening, there are some rhinos hanging out nearby the resort as well. Quite cute tho.
Good surprise pick-up service at the bus station that we didn't know before hahaha Breakfast is a bit underwhelming. Electricity was down multiple times. The private full-day safari tour that we booked (operated by the resort) claimed that lunch is included but it turns out to be just basic fried rice (just rice basically) and 1 boiled egg.. 1 apple and a juice box. sitting on the ground without a basic chair, just a plastic ground sheet... For a tour price more than 30K npr... it's not worth the money.
- Praveen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lotusjuwel (8/5): Very good -
- Shreya (8/5): Excellent place at very affordable rates - Excellent river view from room. A rhino came right upto the property in the evening. Food variety and quantity needs to be increased.
- Atlanta (10/5): This hotel is very safe, peaceful and relaxing, and as close to nature and wildlife as you can be. - The property is set in a beautiful garden overlooking the river. It is a very peaceful and relaxing environment, and you wake up to the sound of nature. I saw elephants and rhinos from my balcony and from the garden of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and made me feel comfortable and safe whilst staying there (female travelling alone). The property is set along the Main Street of Sauraha so you can access restaurants and groceries very easily. Krishna helped me to book my jeep safari and also organise transport back to Kathmandu following my stay. N/A
- Rishi (8/5): Very good - Wildlife viewing right on the property! There was a rhino mud bathing 20 meters from the resort. At that price point, there is nothing that I would expect to be improved.
- Sanjay (5/5): Passable -
- Elena-andreea (4/5): Disappointing - The staff was friendly and the location was near the river, which wad good. The room was cold and the AC was doing a lot of noise. The Internet connection was veery week, was connecting just time to time.
Although, the manager was kind and wanted to help us the activities offered to us were very disappointing:
would have been more helpful to known more details about the jeep safari, a short brief would have been more than enough for this. Also, we don't recommend at all the 4 h jeep safari. The chances to see any wild animals are very low. In the car, although we been told we will be 10, we were 14 adults and 2 kids (2 years and maybe 4 or 5 years old). We felt like potatoes and with a lot of noise around us.
- Prabin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roberta (8/5): Wonderful green haven in Chitwan. Comfortable stay. - Really beautiful outdoor area. Plenty of room to relax in a beautiful environment. (benches, gazeebo. Our room had a small patio, which was a nice area to relax and enjoy the beautiful garden.
Helpful and nice Staff, especially Krishna the owner. They offered us a welcome drink and gave us some information about the National Park, which was very interesting. They helped us organize our bus trip back to Kathmandu and even drove us to the bus park for free.
Restaurant was convenient and offered good food. Breakfast was satisfying.
Bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable.
Overall an extremely pleasant stay! Would visit again. Room smelt slightly of smoke.
Wifi connectivity was close to none. We had to use data most of the time.
Water in the shower was lukewarm on our second night.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable bed and attentive staff. We did a short afternoon museum and walking tour along the river which was great for the afternoon we arrived. The location is convenient for the restaurants in town with lovely gardens that are well maintained. The owner was very helpful- he offered us lots of national park tour options when we first arrived but then didn't hold it against us when we decided to book our tours through a different company
- Samuel (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (9/5): Superb -
- Anh (10/5): I had 4 wonderful nights here and love to back again in the future when I come to Nepal. - The food Cooked by hotel was amazing, so delicious and fresh.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, comfortable and convenient - We spent 3 nights at River View Jungle Camp in Nov. 2022. This was our last stop of a 35 day trip to Nepal including 21 days of trekking and a stay in Pokhara. Overall the accommodations were some of the nicest we had during our time in Nepal. The room was large and clean. The fully functioning bathroom (with reliable hot water) was clean and the air conditioner worked. When we arrived, we were met at the gate by the proprietor and shown immediately to our room. He then organized our activities for the weekend and introduced us to our outstanding guide, Mungala. We had an action packed weekend doing all the tours with our guide and hotel mates. Our meals were all included in the price and the food was outstanding. The actual location of River View Jungle Camp was very convenient. It is a short walk via the river trail or city streets to the city center. Many shops and ATMs were nearby. We had a second floor room with a balcony that overlooked the beautiful gardens, river and jungle. Overall this worked out very well for us and we enjoyed the stay.
- Sanchez (5/5): Passable -
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): The staff are exceptional and very attentive. - Quiet setting, river view, lovely gardens It was beautiful. Quite well kept and ready for guests after the river flooded.
- Bhadani (8/5): Good - didn’t get a good room
they changed
good then breakfast very limited
- Sonam (9/5): Exciting and memorable.... - The manager along with the entire staff were very friendly.......and were all eager to make our stay pleasant and memorable!
The sighting of rhinoceros right in front of the hotel was very exciting and the highlight of our stay..... Can't think of anything....
- Swornima (10/5): - Best place in sauraha 😍 A MUST GO PLACE ❤️
- Alex (6/5): Meh - The good: location, nice hot water.
The bad: a/c barely works, electricity wasn't stable only for this hotel it seems, hotels.com says my room should have a tv but there wasn't any (10usd more to change room). Wifi was also bad.
- Carlee (10/5): Good spot for Chitwan Nat. Park - Great location close to the entrance of the National Park. Staff were all super helpful and even let us know when there was a rhino right outside the hotel! Only downside was a lack of hot water for showers but overall a great stay!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great stay! - I had a great stay at the River View Jungle Camp. The food was delicious, the lodging comfortable, good wifi in the main quarters, and a beautiful location on the river. Highly recommend!
