• littlebluenails (5/5): I was expecting a little more from a Radisson property. - Location was great, and the checking in/checking out process was pretty efficient. The service was good, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was good, but very crowded. The gem store in the lobby provided a good selection and while they aren't part of the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The property was old and tired. There were fittings in the bathroom that were old and broken but still functional. The safe kept flashing 'low battery' so I didn't dare to use it. There was no hairdryer but when I asked for one at the reception they delivered one to me. It was a busy week as I was there during a national holiday. The hotel was packed and for some reason the corridor outside my room was always busy. There was furniture, cleaning trolleys along the corridor at all hours.It was also a bit noisy as I could hear the people in the next room. Security was lacking in the lifts as one of the lifts didn't seem to require guests to tap their room keys for access.

Location is alright but I was there for work so ended up calling Tuktuks via PickMe app. Staff is friendly and the rooftop bar has 5-7 happy hour which is always great. The pool is small, just big enough for kids or for adults to be lazy in. Breakfast buffet was great.

• Joanna (10/5): Good value hotel as a base for seeing the sights of Kandy - We enjoyed our stay at the Radisson in Kandy. We particularly liked the rooftop pool and bar / restaurant. The pool did get busy in the afternoon, and when busy there are not really enough sun loungers. Rooms were clean and comfortable and ours had a lake view which we weren't expecting. The breakfast was very good, and all of the staff we had contact with were excellent. It's close to the city centre with all the sights a short tuk tuk ride away. We thought it was very good value for money. More sunbeds by the pool

• IhabAhmed (4/5): If you have no alternative, sure, otherwise try someplace else. - Unfortunately, a disappointing stay that fell well below the standard we'd expect from a Radisson. The property feels tired and dated throughout. Our room had worn furniture, old bathroom fixtures with visible grout everywhere, cloudy mirrors, and ants, and we never even opened the balcony. The AC had to run at full blast to manage the humidity. Hallways were smelly with food odours drifting through, and the walls are thin enough that noise carries easily. The dining experience was equally underwhelming. Breakfast was overcrowded with no tables available for a while, and the space was hot and humid with all the doors and windows open. Food selection was reasonable but the flavours were noticeably lacking, especially relative to the genuinely excellent food we'd had elsewhere in Sri Lanka over the week. When we shared feedback on a poor dinner choice, the response was that it's simply due to the meats available locally, which didn't match our experience at other properties. Staff were friendly and clearly trying their best, that came through. The location is also a positive, with good access to Kandy. But the overall standards don't reflect what the Radisson name represents globally or what other group hotels in Sri Lanka deliver. Not a property I'd return to or recommend, as I have experienced better alternatives.

• 617_mery (10/5): A great stay at an above average hotel - We stayed at this hotel for two nights during our Sri Lanka trip. The reason that we chose this hotel was due to the Radisson brand (being one of the only available chain hotels in Kandy) and it's central location. I'm also holding a midtier Radisson status due to a status match and I was curious how your brand reputation holds up against my usual chain. Overall, we had a comfortable stay at a nice, clean and no surprises hotel. It was a good value stay more than a luxury stay. The biggest luxury was the view from upgraded room overlooking the whole of Kandy lake. The main area of improvement would be the freshness of the buffet, especially on the drinks department. We would definitely go back to stay here while visiting Kandy and recommend the stay to our friends. Getting into the specifics: Welcome: We arrived to the hotel after a long 4.5 hour drive, feeling tired. The staff were quick and efficient to check us in and kindly offered a room upgrade to a lake view room. The interaction with the staff was pleasant and professional. Room: While it is not a huge room, it is very nicely decorated and contains everything you need except a hair dryer. The wardrobe being inside the bathroom was a bit unusual but it was due to space restrictions. The balcony had an amazing view of the lake and it was pleasant to watch the city after a long day of touring. Service: The staff were very professional and helpful. When one of us didn't feel great and missed the breakfast time, they quickly tried to come up with a breakfast plate even though the buffet was cleaned up. Similarly, when a staff member noticed that I am struggling with some very spicy food that I ordered by mistake, they quickly offered some watermelons to cool me down. These acts of kindness go a long way when evaluating a hotel from good to great. Dining: The hotel offers a nice range of food options for breakfast and dinner. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety but something was making us feel that some items are not super fresh. We chose to ala carte options for dinner and they also felt good but average. Still it was convenient to have these options. Hotel amenities: The most significant feature of the hotel is the roof top pool. It was nice to relax these with a king coconut after a long day. The hotel offers a Spa which we found a bit pricey and didn't use. There are a few shops but nothing exciting to convince us to buy things. Location: The hotel is super central. However note that it's on top of a hill. This makes walking to it a bit of a challenge from the main city streets. But it's super quick and efficient to reach on a tuk tuk.

The reception staff were welcoming, and we wish to particularly commend Front Office Executive Pavan, who was instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process—an asset to the hotel. The room was well-appointed with modern facilities and amenities. The bar on the 5th floor offers an impressive view and maintains a lively, pleasant atmosphere. The service staff throughout the hotel were attentive and friendly. However, the food quality did not meet the same standard. Both the à la carte options and the buffet breakfast were underwhelming, with the latter offering limited variety compared to other hotels of a similar class in Kandy. Overall, the hotel provides good value for money and is a decent choice for travelers visiting Kandy. It comes recommended for those seeking a comfortable, no-fuss stay.

The vehicle offered did not meet the stated requirement It needed the intervention of the GM of the facility to satisfactorily close the matter and arrange the mini van

• Anastasia (10/5): - The location was near the lake, but not on the main road so it was quiet and peaceful. Rooms were nice and comfy. Equiped with everything you need. Beautiful view from window and from the roof top. The pool isn't big and in the evening it is a bit cold. Great breakfast.

When we walked into our room it had a funny smell and was very hot (they don’t put on air cons until you get there.) we asked to change rooms but they didn’t have any available. We ended up having our room recleaned. The manager was good he was apologetic and got us sorted. after the little issue everything was sorted and we had a great stay! Upstairs pool/bar is great, food is good, beers are cold and staff are lovely. Not sure if it was because of this issue but all staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Sometimes it’s not about the problem, it’s about how it is dealt with. So Thankyou everyone :)

Food was western with Asian influences but still good, roof bar with friendly staff, great views however quite expensive. Location was great for getting around the area for sightseeing. Overall great stay and would recommend
• sl892017 (6/5): Decent stay, disappointing in some aspects. - Stay was okay. The check-in took a really long time although it was not busy time. We booked lake view - but the view itself is not great as such. So if your paying a premium for the view you can skip it, really. The rooftop restaurant bar has some kind of music events going on until 11 pm. So if you get the upper floor you can hear it pretty clearly. The breakfast was a huge disappointment. I was surprised to see the blends weren't all that great. Even the Sri Lankan food is lacking. The most annoying thing was no drinking water at the table. You need to walk to the end of buffet to get yourself a glass of water! The Indian counter and the usual breads were alright. If you choose to eat at other places though - the food is fantastic. The water also took forever to arrive at room - room service is slow. Although check out was pretty smooth. You do get a neat comfortable room thats close to everything.

• Sara (10/5): Fully worthy of what we paid . - Our room view with Kandy lake was amazing. The staff were very friendly and courteous . Well trained. Buffet was excellent and had great choices. Pool and Bar on rooftop and we enjoyed the evening cocktails. Road to the hotel is narrow and we were there during school hours and was stuck for some time . Better avoid school traffic.

We had complimentary chocolates and cookies! The hotel was so clean and well looked after, staff were very proactive in making the environment perfect for guests.
• Andrew (9/5): A solid base to see Kandy .. good for solo travellers.. safe and secure. - The position just above hotel suisse meant I had a nice view of the lake from my balcony..the room was very clean and was well maintained..exactly as you would expect from a Radisson hotel.A good solid base to see Kandy.The breakfast and dinner buffet was good .. the omelette station staff were authentically friendly… as was Ruvindya in the restaurant… and the young staff member who was serving at the pool bar ..he was particularly helpful.These staff members stood out.Lovely position to do a walk around the lake before breakfast if you like. The dinner buffet although very good .. but sometimes could benefit from a little attention after the tour groups had attacked it … saying that the cake/ desert selection was very impressive .Although I enjoyed the walk up the hill to the hotel it is a bit of a climb.

One of the best breakfast buffets I had during my stay in Sri Lanka, and I have stayed in several different hotels. The room was clean, the restroom was well maintained, and the shower had good water pressure. Overall, a very pleasant stay with an amazing lake view.
• Lars (9/5): Great hotel, well-priced, and close to center. - Well located hotel with comfortable rooms, including view over the lake and on walking distance to the center and the Temple of the Relic Tooth. Welcome drink upon arrival and good breakfast. Staff forgot to bring the luggage to the room, after it was ready for check in.
