Guest Reviews
- John (8/5): Modern remodelled rooms, with pleasant desk staff, close to all amenities! - Modern clean rooms, great location to mid Parksville
- Gavin (8/5): - Nice renovated and spotlessly clean. Best value in Parksville for sure!
- Shayna (10/5): - Newly renovated at every corner! The front lawn area for sitting and eating outside was fantastic. The rooms are brand new and beautifully renovated. There is family suites with extra bedrooms and full kitchens. It was quite, clean and the front desk/manager was incredibly kind and helpful. Absolutely a great place to stay!!

- Kelly (1/5): Motel was clean and in a nice location; it's too bad that I didn't get what I had booked. - Booking via booking.com was easy and simple. I appreciated the email confirmations, both from booking.com and the motel itself. The description was for a "Family Suite" (a main room plus an additional room), with a total of three beds. Imagine my surprise to arrive to only one bed, with no additional room. I immediately spoke to the front desk, where a very nice but very powerless person said he would ask his manager and let me know next steps. After sitting very still in my room (I didn't want to mess it up if I was going to be transferred elsewhere), I went back to the office an hour later. He had no update from his manager, but he said I would not get transferred because the motel was completely booked. He noted that none of the rooms are suites anyway, so it's not that my reservation was mixed up or double-sold, but that the option never existed. He said his manager would approve financial compensation instead, but he didn't know how much money yet.
Upon my checkout the next morning, I asked the person at the front desk about the discount or credit. This person was also very nice and also very powerless. He said there were no notes in my account, but he did confirm that yesterday's person had asked the manager, but there was still no response. He explained that the credit would be stored on my account direct with the motel (not with booking.com), and that I could call or email the motel directly in a day or two to find out what the compensation was.
I emailed the motel directly a few days later and received no response. I then emailed through booking.com (where I had previously received almost instant replies), and again no response. I doubt anybody is maliciously ignoring me, but I have zero leverage in this situation now, so this is a lost cause for me.
The price I paid for a Family Suite with three beds would have been an outstanding price, and still would have been an acceptable price for a room with one bed.
- T (7/5): - I like that the staff was welcoming and accommodating. I like that they welcome pets. I like the rain showerhead. I like that families staying at the hotel are offered free mini golf across the road. I didn't like that there was no dining options at the hotel. We were told that we could go across the street to the mini golf place for breakfast. It would have been nice to have a cafe as part of the hotel, at least for breakfast. I also really didn't like the toilet paper. It wasn't rolls like normal. It was more like folded napkins. Normal rolls would be better.

- Eva (10/5): - Very friendly and supportive staff, complimentary mini golf, walking distance (10min) to Parksville Beach for a nice sunset, very modern, convenient location
- Marian (9/5): - Newly renovated, with nice friendly staff. The shower and the bed were great. There was no hairdryer in the suite, and the coffee maker wouldn't work.
Although we didn't use the kitchen, I could see it was not stocked with much in the way of dishes and utensils
- Iris (10/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent service
- Jean (9/5): Would stay here again! - Cozy N/A
- Zavadco (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Lovely to stay on the island again - Free mini golf, close to everything we needed to be close to The Neighbour kept stealing my parking spot
- Skye (10/5): A sophisticated motel that is easy on the wallet - Loved the ambiance and freshly renovated feels of the place. The free unlimited mini golf across the street was an amazing surprise! I found a couple ants in our room, not sure if that is a common thing.
- Joyce (10/5): Perfect location and easy access for our dog to the outside. Friendly staff turnout tv working quickly and adjusted our - Loved the recent, modern upgrades! Nice large tv, spacious room and lovely bathroom! A mini breakfast…muffins & fruit would have been nice
- Kate (9/5): A comfortable, clean and friendly place with great value - Great location, very clean, comfy beds, wonderful staff! There's no way to get natural light once blinds are down or fresh air. The lights are either full on overhead lights or one small lamp with a cool white almost fluorescent bulb. So lighting isn't warm and cozy. Some wall sconces or a dimmer switch on the overhead ceiling lights might help.
- Gary (9/5): Diamond in the Rough - Excellent location – really nice showers and very comfortable beds and there’s also a very big TV in the room – kitchen stuff with coffee and tea. The rooms have been totally refurbished and are quite modern – the rooms are much larger than most. Really nice that you can park right outside of your unit only a few steps to your room - parking is free. Popcorn machine in the office, which was a nice touch – outside grounds were also nice and tidy. Nothing
- Scottish (10/5): - Great place..newly renovated...extremely friendly staff at desk and helpful
- Tiahnyriadno (10/5): - Very clean room.
Everything in room is new.
Mattress is comfortable.
Receptionist was very helpful.

- Megan (10/5): Great stay for a great price. - This was very short notice that we needed a place. With the cost of all the additional fees Airbnb takes, it would have been too expensive to book something through a platform. This was affordable for us but I expected a totally different motel on the budget we were on. I was totally surprised to see a renovated modern motel. Beautiful king beds that are super soft. Walk in showers with modern features. There’s an outdoor lounge area. It’s pet friendly and also great for kids as you get free mini golf with your stay-it’s right across the street from the paradise mini golf & fun park. Staff were very friendly and accommodating as well—totally exceeded my expectations. I don’t normally write reviews but this fab find in Parksville deserves the attn. Nothing!
- Nicole (8/5): Stayed with our 3 kids would book again - Located walking distance to everything, price was great and exceeded our expectations. Nice upgrades. Nice staff. We would for sure book again here. No Ice in the ice machine, not a big deal.
- Christopher (4/5): Room not available DAY Of Ccheck in, moved around 3 times before bed - We got access to the mini golf. I DO NOT recommend staying here.
The day we were supposed to check in I got a call saying my room was no longer available and that our reservation had been transfered to the Coast Hotel. When we arrived at the Coast hotel I discovered that my room was now a single room 2 queen bed. We had originally had a 2 room suit with one King bed and one queen bed. When asked what we could do the lady at the desk sent us over to the Tides Out motel. When we got there the gentleman offered us 2 rooms, one with a kitechette and a king bed and one with 2 queen beds and no kitchenette. We accepted this offer. He said the King room was just being cleaned but would be available in a few hours. When we got back to the motel in the evening (around 7:30 pm) I opened the door to the King room and it was a mess still. The bed was not made, the floor was still dirty, the kitchen was a mess. My husband went to talk to the front desk attendant again and it was the same gentleman as before. He told my husband that there was no housekeeping on site so the room couldn't be cleaned. He also told my husband that the kitchenette room was just for us to use as a kitchen not to sleeo in. I went to talk to the gentleman and said that us not what we had discussed. He apologized and said he didn't know what else he could do. I said I just need clean beds for the night as we had been up since 4am traveling, and that we can just deal with everything else the next day. They gave us a second 2 queen room.
The next day we just told them ti not worry about the room with the kitchenette as we check out the next day anyway.
The back and forth and moving our booking around the day we were supposed to check in was very frustrating. The front desk people were polite but were passing us off to other people.to just get rid of us it felt like.
- Orson (9/5): Pleasantly surprised - Great renovations. Very clean. Bathroom was extremely nice.
- lawrence (8/5): It was comfortable and quiet - It was clean and new
- Jill (10/5): Gives cozy and comfortable vibes. - Clean, quiet and quite modern (charging stations in furniture, lighting options in bathroom). Lovely renovation! The bed and heavy duvet were incredibly comfortable!
- S1287FWlisah (4/5): Lack of thought created less than great experience - Location: was good to very good being quite central to the beach, right on a major thoroughfare and within easy striking distance to all areas of Parksville, Qualicum Beach and Coombs. The only real downside was the busy street out front.
Atmosphere: This is an old motel that’s been refurbished. It was recently a gathering place for transients and marginalized people and that history shows through. There are clearly some long term renters who never close their blinds and consistently have their doors propped open, which creates some awkward moments. Rooms: The owners have done a decent job of “cleaning the place up” overall - new bathrooms, tidy kitchenettes, new panelling and beds. BUT the rooms were not super clean (the area around the shower was particularly grim), there weren’t appropriate towels for the number of guests (we had 1 facecloth to share, until we finally bought our own), no linens in the kitchenette. The bathroom has near zero places to store any toiletries so be prepared for your desk area to be filled with these. There were a few mismatched dishes in the cupboards, but if you’re anticipating being able to actually cook or even bring in a take out here, you’ll be disappointed. You’ll also be disappointed if you want real coffee in the morning as they only have a keurig with 4 pods - this takes up most of the worktop in the kitchen area and isn’t refilled. There is NO place to hang anything. Not a jacket, not a handbag, not a leash. Be prepared for everything in your room to be draped everywhere. If you’re a neat nick thus will make you CRAZY! There’s no matt inside the door and there are hard floors throughout; be prepared to track in evergreen needles, sand and stones which will track through your room and make their way into your bed. Good times. There’s also no brush to sweep the floor which is also problematic.
The new beds are spacious and the mattresses are comfy but the pillows are old as heck and compressed to the point even with 2 stacked together, it’s like having no pillow at all. Be prepared to have a stiff neck for the entire stay. I’d say bring your own, but given the cleanliness of the rooms, you’ll have to burn it after, so maybe not. You’ll also find that many of the electrical outlets don’t work, items like hair dryers, and clothes irons are non existent. Lastly the TV wasn’t set up. Someone came and set it up, the following day it needed set up again. AND there was no instructions how to do so. Bring your phone or iPad if you need entertainment.
If you ask to have your room serviced be prepared to wait and wait. They may come at 11 or they may come at 4, or they may not come at all.
Bottom line: is this a cheaper place to stay? Yes. Is it worth the savings to have a lousy sleep, a dirty room and no conveniences? No.
A little thought would go a really long way - doesn’t need to be fancy but does need to be clean and comfortable and have at least a few things to make the stay enjoyable. We were limited for places that took dogs, or we would have stayed elsewhere.
- MAX (9/5): - Location Room was confused on Booking.com and owners were having trouble with conversion. I would suggest Booking. Com contact property to assist

- Esther (6/5): Okay for two nights. The staff were friendly and professional. Kids loved the free access to the mini golf and arcade ne - Free access to mini golf next door. Short walk to the beach. Floor was dirty, no cooking pans or pots with lids in the kitchen, near noisy road, curtain didn’t close completely.
- Pat (9/5): Enjoyed our stay -
- JUN HUI (9/5): - Nice room I can hear cell phone vibrating from next room.
- Susan (7/5): Good - No breakfast. Great location. There was no face clothes. No regular coffee offered, only decaf or tea
- Mathew (10/5): -
- David (3/5): Location is great but it’s extremely overpriced for the disappointing facilities - The location is great and you can park right in front of your unit. It is way overpriced. There were literally cobwebs in multiple corners, our shoes stuck to the floors, a bug squished on the wall in the bathroom, the air conditioner was noisy (but effective), tons of noise and light from outside, holes in the walls and counters, the shower head has a high pitched shriek when it’s on, the pillows were old and lumpy. They’ve got a lot of gall charging $350 per night. It’s a $100 per night hotel. It has no other amenities like a pool, playground, weight room, breakfast or anything. Don’t waste your money.
- Dwight (5/5): Disappointed in the facility, would not recommend. It absolutely needs repairs - Location Very run down and dated. Bathroom was nasty, and main door handle falling apart
- Jesse (9/5): Priced right and clean. - Excellent location! Free mini golf and close to the beach! Room was perfect for us for the night but a bit dated. TV converter didn't work well with going up on channels. Could use some paint but priced excellent!
- Jessenia (8/5): It's perfect location, front dea - I loved the location and we were able to enjoy the mini golf as complimentary from the hotel. I didn't like that we stayed for two nights and they didn't come to clean our room but im not sure how that works I didn't ask at front desk.
- Katie (1/5): Horrible! - Location was good, right off the main hwy. Where do I start! It was a dump! Curtains didn't fit the windows, furniture was garbage, dirty floors, found hair in the beds, old furniture. The view from the bedroom was behind the motel and was a dumping ground for all the old furniture including mattresses, lamps, bed frames and just garbage! There was a nightstand and a bed in the bedroom. Nothing else! Outside does not match the vibe inside! It's deceiving! Never again, do not recommend this place to anyone!
- Jessica (5/5): -
- Tami (8/5): Very pleasant stay overall. Staff was very nice - Could have been a bit cleaner on the floors and the bed was very uncomfortable
- Rossi (10/5): Comfortable - Every thing is renovated and new! Has a great location, very affordable. Can use some garbages outside in the common area
- Michal (9/5): -
- Sahajā (7/5): Good enough. - Clean. Close to work They renovated the bathtubs out of the bathrooms. I prefer a bath.
- Tammi (9/5): - The renos looks amazing. Great beds! The suite besideus had extremely loud kids
- Beaton (10/5): - Everything was great. The staff, the room and most of all the shower!;) We liked our entire stay:)
- Darla (10/5): Pleasent as always. Great friendly staff. We stay there every time we come to town. - Clean inside and out. Grounds well kept. Parking is right outside the rooms and well lit. I have a dog. He is house trained and clean. There is no smell from other animals in the rooms. That’s important to me as other upscale hotels put you into rooms that have stains on the floors and smell like pee. VIP IS VERY CLEAN ! No animal smell at all. I liked everything. No complaints
- Darla (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): Excellent and comfortable - Staff friendly and room fresh modern look Kitchen could have been better equipped carpet in second bedroom wet
- Guest (9/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were also very welcoming to my dog. The room was quiet and had been recently renovated. There was no bathtub. There was still some construction dust in my room from the renovation.
- Lance (9/5): Newly renovated. Very nice - Location
- Raynor (7/5): -
- Ashcroft (6/5): -
- Charley (8/5): Good but missing few essentials - Clean room , good shower, great location Microwave , coffee machine, side light not working. Roku tv need sign in
- Lynn (8/5): We will definitely be back! Great value! - The property is newly renovated, and it’s lovely and comfortable. Some of the finishing touches are not done but I have confidence that it will be great when finished. The staff is lovely. Construction is still going on, and the noise of that continued until 7 PM. The inconvenience is worth the stay.
- Trina (1/5): -
- David & (8/5): VIP - Room under $100
Great location.
Great staff. Clean room but bathroom needs a complete update, lifting drywall, old fixtures, old sealant around tub and sink.
- Christina (8/5): - The shower was amazing! The front desk staff was super nice. We love that they are pet friendly! The towel hooks are not secure. They are sticky pads so when the shower heated up the hooks lost their sticky.
- Delphine (7/5): Nice stay overall - We loved the fact that we could use the mini golf across the street without extra cost. It was a fun family night thanks to this!
The lady at the front desk was very helpful. The bigger room originally booked was under renovation so not available and we only heard about it a couple of hours before arriving in spite of a couple of messages sent prior to our trip. We had less room in the new room for the same price, which did not really bother us since we were to stay only one night.
- Leesa (9/5): -
- William (7/5): Under renovations, but still a good place to stay!! - An older property that we have stayed at many times. Now under complete renovation. Because of the renovations, only a few rooms available. We were fine with our room and look forward to our next visit when the Reno's will be complete. Excellent staff and great location. No issues
- 176williamc (8/5): Super renovations underway!!! - An older motel in which we have stayed many times. Under complete renovations, which are coming along very nicely. Only a few un renovated rooms available when we booked, but we still like the property and stayed regardless. Excellent friendly staff, great location and it is evident they are doing a great job on the renovation!!
- John (8/5): A bit room, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. - Friendly staff at check-in and when I needed an item for the room. Clean, a bit dated but clean. Clean property close to everything downtown of Parksville.
- Maria (9/5): -
- Dawn (8/5): - The motel is undergoing some renovations on some rooms but it was quiet and didnt affect our stay at all. Quick friendly check in, you can play unlimited mini golf across the road and its a short walk to the public park/beach and boardwalk. Convenient location and good value for cost.
Room was clean, instant hot water, fridge and microwave which was handy.
My only negatives were the beds were a 5/10 for comfort and our room had no smoke detector installed, another suggestion would be a mat inside the door for the pine needles you can't help but track indoors.
- Clare (6/5): - VIP is a no-frills motel on the busy road through town. But it's central, across from the beach & boardwalk, roomy, clean, friendly, has a bathtub for soaking your tired bones with the epsom salts you keep in the car, and you get a free pass to the very fun mini-golf course across the street, plus a free espresso at the coffeeshop at the minigolf. Not bad. It needed a mat inside the door for wet shoes. But I bet I could have asked for one. I was too tired.
- James (7/5): - Construction was going on on units next to ours and next doorunit has kids that gets up at 4or 5am making a lot of noise
- Petra (7/5): -
- Miloslav (7/5): -
- Julianne (1/5): Couldn’t relax because it felt like it needed a good scrub. - Staff lovely Did not feel clean. Needs new beds that don’t sound like rubber when you sit on them. New couch needed. Fix the cupboards. They wouldn’t close.
- Karen (10/5): wonderful - friendly staff, very clean, spacious room
- Tibichi (10/5): - The service was great and the rooms were very spacious. Housekeeping staff was very friendly and accommodated our requirements.
- Jon (10/5): -

- Arleigh (10/5): - Very cute little motel. Lovely accommodating staff
- Laure (10/5): -
- KATHERINE (10/5): - Kind staff and comfortable room. The outside property has comfortable and stunning furniture for gathering.i recommend thie VIP
- Robert (6/5): -
- Alison (7/5): -
- DonnaLee (7/5): It is ok but i won’t choose to return and won’t reconmend it - Quiet, one level, parking in front of room, clean Bathroom
Is dated and needs painting, new fixtures, new window. Office is very dated and not really even an office. No
- Arlene (5/5): -
- lou (8/5): Bon séjour pour une nuit. - Emplacement, free mini golf, tres joli espace extérieur. Chambre propre. Clim trop bruyante, un des draps housse était un peu pelucheux. Serviettes de toilette rêches. Un peu trop cher mais comparé aux motel/hôtel environnant ça restait correct.
