Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): Paid for 2 nights, left after 1 - This was the most disappointing stay during our first visit to the east coast. Thankfully it was right at the start of our trip and every other stay was excellent. Shower stall in the entry was awful. Musty smell throught "suite" was overpowering. Blinds not able to stay pulled down when we opened all the windows to air the place out meant anyone could look in from the main street. Bedroom window faces the front entryway to the rest of the house so there could be no privacy with non working blinds. The toilet is so close to the wall that anyone that is a tad larger would have a hard time using it comfortably. Breakfast supplied was minimal and quite honestly, not even remotely acceptable.
This was the only time we have ever left any place we have stayed early.
- Mojtaba (2/5): - Smelly rooms and bedsheets.. torn towels... Very small shower space ... Not recommended!! Also, incompatibility between the room we booked (shown on the website) and the one we stayed in ...
- Pierrette (2/5): - Pictures do not reflect the reality. Breakfast is not great,
- Paul (8/5): - Very friendly host, easy to find, very nice rooms.
- KE (10/5): - Nice owner and good room.
- Irene (10/5): - Mel and his son were very welcoming. The apartment was very cozy and sweet. Will definitely stay here again!!
- John (10/5): - The harbour view location was excellent, The mother doe and fawn feeding in the back yard were a pleaseant surprise.
- Heidi (6/5): - The owner was extremely nice. The bed was ok but could have been firmer and the bathroom could have been closer.
- Colleen (10/5): - We enjoyed that it was close to the water. We saw some deer on the property. Quite fun.
- Johnathan (10/5): - Great property! Will absolutely be back!
- Jennifer (6/5): - Nice views but uncomfortable bed and tiny shower.
- Lisa (6/5): - It was ok. Could use a bit of TLC to make it more updated.
- Anahita (8/5): - It was pricy for the place. The view is good. bed is very uncomfortable
- heidi (10/5): - This property covered just about everything for a welcoming stay, including fresh salad from the garden if you choose.
Close to Halifax harbour front and a restaurant with in walking distance.
We would definitely recommend this B&B.
- Tom (10/5): - This place has a beautiful view Checked in very friendly and helpful Walked down a bit of a hill to catch bus to waterfront but only needed 1 bus #90 Took about 20 minutes but fun to see some of city Owner supplied toast coffee and banana and yogurt which was good for breakfast Wifi excellent TV small but good sports stations Great value for price
- William (8/5): - It was easy to find, Owner was Friendly, View of the bay was great, only problem was no Radio and though not required there was not a TV in this unit, but internet was good.
- Isabelle (10/5): - Brest place and amazing service. Just missing a tv :)
- Gord (10/5): - IT COULD DO WITH A IN SUITE TV
- Kathy (8/5): - This is a very clean welcoming suite. It has no t.v or blow dryer, but we were welcomed with homemade warm muffins. We will use it again.
- Mandeep (8/5): - Comfortably stay. Nice view of water. Welcoming host
- Mark (8/5): - The property was easy to find, and the host greeted us upon arrival and showed us around
There was lots of space to unpack and relax
It is listed as a B&B, but would appreciate a few more kitchen utensils to aid in warming up in the microwave for any foods we had purchased. As well it would’ve been nice to have a dish bucket to put dirty dishes in instead of just leaving them on the table. The host did come in every day and clean up our dishes. A light breakfast was provided for us each morning.
Conveniently located to any area of town, we needed to go to a nice view of the harbor
- Angela (10/5): - Mel is very friendly and kind! He made sure we were all settled in and had everything we needed. The suite is cozy, with a little kitchen area for breakfasts and some comfy couches in the living space. It was a great place to stay while we were in town
- Timothy (10/5): - Mel was very friendly and made us feel welcome.
- Robert (8/5): - Country in the City.

- Jinal (10/5): - Homely atmosphere

- Sheila (10/5): - Great place for an overnight stay - friendly, affordable, good location, parking, clean, and a comfortable bed! Would definitely come back!
- Allandra (10/5): - Mel was super friendly and a great host! The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast options. The price was right, we would definitely stay again!
- hanieh (10/5): - Very friendly, welcoming and helpful
- Angelo (10/5): - Great place to stay. Highly recommend.
- Mary (8/5): - We liked the spacious living room in addition to the bedroom. A nice bright suite.
- Noa (10/5): - Lovely little basement sweet. Owner was very nice and I felt very safe.
- Zorica (10/5): - This was the best alternative to a hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. It was almost like staying at a friend's or family's house. Quiet, clean and comfortable, with a nice breakfast. Owner Mel did everything right to make our stay pleasant. If I get to visit Halifax again, this is the first option I will look at.
- Debbie (6/5): - This was a main floor suite of a bi-level. Basics were provided in the kitchen area; however there was no sink. A few continental food items were also provided. Washer & dryer was handy. Living room area is carpeted & has 2 sofas. One was fabric & quite stained. I wouldn't sit on it. No TV. I wasn't happy when a large spider came from under the sofa I was sitting on & scurried across the carpet near me - twice! Also, we killed a beetle on the carpet. The bedroom was okay; however, the bed was uncomfortable & husband says "bowed in." There was no electrical outlet in the bathroom. Shower was tiny so didn't bother even using it. Upstairs people were very noisy at 7 am in the morning. Price for this suite was too high.
- crisman (10/5): - Very serene and huge space .
Very scenic view .
Place is very clean and well maintained .
- Marvin (8/5): - Host was very helpful providing tips for the area.
- Lance (8/5): - This was a pleasant surprise. My suite was spacious, clean and pretty well equipped. The service was welcoming and friendly, but respected privacy and was not obtrusive. This is not a hotel, so don't expect a mini-bar or a swimming pool. However, if you want a comfortable and quiet place in a good location, at a reasonable price, I'd recommend it.
- Debbie (6/5): - Several suggestions to improve the renters experience staying in the basement suite
1. Definitely a dehumidifier
2.Fans for air circulation
3.Door on the bedroom
4. Privacy shades this would then remove the need for the curtain which needs to be pulled over in the entrance way where the shower is located.
He has the bones of a wonderful suite, but it could be much more comfortable with a few simple and inexpensive changes.
- Eric (8/5): Bert good - Was Nice location
- Joan (10/5): - Friendly owner and beautiful, peaceful spot with great view!
- Barbara (8/5): - Great place to stay short or long term, just like staying in a home. Liked the little extras of popcorn and candies plus breakfast selection. Comfy bed.
- SABRINA (10/5): - Welcoming, warm and friendly. It felt like home away from home.
- Elia (10/5): - Mel is frendliest host ever! All our needs were met instantly. Juice, fruits, tea, coffee etc were magically refilled.
Guest apartment is roomy, clean, with washer and dryer, separate entrance, in the city with water views, very cute and private yard.
Definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This stay was flawless. Loved everything about it from start to finish...Cleanliness and friendliness; bright, spacious room and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice view, beautiful place it self, room is high standards, bed is comfi, the owner is a great person, trying is best to make you feel at home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very cozy place to stay and friendly staff. Many traffic in the morning and afternoon.
- Peter (10/5): - This B & B is the best, we ever have stayed in !
The location, the view down to the water is just GREAT !!!
Mel, the owner is so helpful and friendly.
This will be our new home away from home while we are doing business meetings in the greater Halifax area !
Thanks Mel, we are looking forward to stay again at your home in the near future.
Best wishes
Peter and Brigitte Juergensen
White Point,N.S.
Thanks Mel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's like staying in a house. The owner of the house also stays next room. Comfortable bed but no attached bathroom to the room given to me. It's a split house with all the features of a house. Ocean view room is decent.
