Hotel is nice and spacious, changing room in gym is very small, has a small pool and a gym. Good breakfast, staff at reception were not very friendly. Comfortable spacious room.

Rooms were so big that it was a shame the didn't allow a crib or cot for our 2 year old and we had to book 2 rooms. The furniture didnt look fully wiped down in yhe room.

- Alan (8/5): Overall satisfactory but not fabulous - Pleasant stay but a few things could do with improvement. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming the room was a good size and clean. But our drinking water wasn't replenished for our second night. The major downside was breakfast. The breakfast room was too small for peak demand resulting in queues. Food quality was a bit mixed.

We did not have robes in our room to use the pool and spa - we had to ask three times for these to be sent up and ended up just using a towel on our first visit to the Spa as we got fed up of waiting. In addition, a plug socket blew up when attempting to charge my phone which, whilst dealt with promptly was an inconvenience. The Spa area was smaller than anticipated, the loungers were too few and they need replacing - there was also a peculiar spell in/around the pool area on one of the visits. The Gin bar was lovely and staff provided great service.

Then it took two calls to get towels and toilet paper sent up. This is a first for me at any hotel I have been to. Second was witnessing staff being shouted at by management. Makes it a bit awkward for guests. But overall a lovely stay

- Verified traveler (10/5): One day in Newcastle - Hotel is situated behind the railway station and overlooking the Tyne so although not central it is still a good location. Easy parking, (use level 10) good pool and steam room, rooms spacious, good gin bar and full breakfast. Only stayed one night but would definitely recommend it. Shops, quayside, football, arena, restaurants all within 5 to 10 minutes walk. Easy access in and out of Newcastle west using the Redheuth bridge from A1.

- Ali (2/5): Never staying at any Crowne Plaza, terrible - Check in took over 25 minutes. They only had 1 system working, this was a late check in as well. Stayed for 2 nights, the key stopped working after the first night, they couldn’t do anything about it and just told me to ask someone from reception to come and unlock the door if needed The sink in the bathroom was blocked. The carpet wasnt clean, felt like the cleaners just cleaned on surface and not a proper deep clean you would expect.

Location is good, next to the train station and only a short (few minute) walk to bars and restaurants. 5-10 minute walk into the city centre/shopping. Soundproofing good, we didn’t hear any noise from outside despite our room looking out at the station. Would definitely stay again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): I wish that I could rate 5 stars… - I would have provided full stars if the cleanliness didn’t let it down. On arrival, I went to run my child a bath and there was a pubic hair in the tub, so I checked the shower and a blatant pubic hair left on the cubicle floor, and finally there was what looked like a boot print on the base sheet on the bed. The staff were very quick to send someone to change the sheet. The customer service was second to none, everyone was extremely friendly and professional. It is a shame that those incidences occurred because beyond that my child and I enjoyed our stay.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Awful breakfast experience - Room fine, though gaps around the door meant we heard a lot of noise from the corridor. We were offered breakfast at check on, with a £5 discount if we pre-booked compared to buying on the morning. So we took it. Big mistake. The queue for a table was right across the reception area. We waited 15 minutes, even though there were plenty of used tables - so presumably a lack of staff to clear them. The final insult, on reaching the front of the queue - the staff had no record that we'd pre-paid and had to head off to reception to check... Not a great start to the day and if we hadn't prepaid we'd have gone elsewhere.

The receptionist who checked me in was lovely and even when I requested a few things she done it no bother. Nothing was too much hassle for her. Used the spa the following day and the girls on the desk there were great as well. This is the 3rd time staying here and it has never let us down. We are already looking forward to our 4th stay.

- LISA (10/5): Very nice hotel - Really nice hotel. Perfect location for the Arena - 10 minute easy walk away. Car park is also very convenient ( park on level 10 as it's direct access to the hotel ) Room was very nice and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
- Jordan (6/5): Comfortable stay but a little disappointed. - Stayed here with a friend on new year to chill out and bring in the new year with a swim and sauna. When we arrived we were given the keys to our room straight away and the staff were very polite and attentive. Our room was lovely. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom was large and there was tea/coffee facilities and a fridge. We had a good nights sleep. Before coming to stay we had called to hotel to ask if the pool would be open when we arrived. They advised that it would be open to 9pm. When we arrived at 9pm we were advised it was shut. We then again asked in the morning if we could use the facilities and was advised this was ok. We went for some food and came back and were advised we would have to wait an hour for the pool. This was disappointing as this was the third time we had enquired about the pool and could not access it and had to travel home having not being able to use them. This was pretty disappointing considering we just wanted to come here to relax and were not able to. However, I appreciate it was new year and maybe on another day this would not have been the case. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat here but it did look nice and the drinks we had were also nice. The staff were very polite and if it hadn’t been for the pool situation I would have returned again.
- Ray (6/5): - The hotel is located behind the city’s main train station, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre. A multi-story car park adjacent to the hotel provides convenient parking facilities. Breakfast was very busy and required queuing on both days of our stay. The family room was of good size, comfortable and clean. We did not try the swimming pool or spa facilities, both of which required advanced booking. Generally, the hotel provided a satisfactory experience for a short stay.
- Yvonne (10/5): Check in hold ups - Nice stay. Several of our party (3rooms) were not able to check in at 3 and waited until after 4 for room allocation. This did not help with the children as they wanted to use the pool and had no room number or anywhere to change. Luckily they all used our room not that convenient though.

- Roxanne (4/5): - Really disappointed with this place! After reading the reviews I thought this was going to be a great choice for my son and partners anniversary. Getting through to the reservations team after 3 attempts on hold took over an hour and then no one came back to the call. I just wanted to upgrade the room as a treat for them but my son had to do that on arrival. The upgrade was to an unsuitable disabled room and the tv didn't work. The upside was they enjoyed the breakfast and the spa area. I'm still waiting for someone to contact me about the issues but my messages are unresponded to. Staff were uninterested & unhelpful so my son did not complain on checking out.

Staff were friendly and formal on the front desk, and during breakfast. So polite you feel like a VIP. Room was in good condition, but signs of wear, and no bin bag. Nothing wrong with that though as it was comfy and amenable.

- V (8/5): - found it difficult to regulate the temperature without getting drafts of cold air from the air conditioning. (I do not like air conditioning) On asking I did get a second duvet to have a warm bed but cool room. Toilet cistern kept running and not filling which I couldn't rectify on the last morning. The carpet had a sticky mark outside the bathroom. Staff very helpful and food was excellent.

There were events going on both days when we stayed there which made it a bit hectic when checking in. The rooms were very spacious and clean with a large bathroom. Overall, a good place to stay, but it gets very crowded and noisy in communal spaces downstairs.
