Guest Reviews
- Heather (5/5): I won’t be returning, even if they do offer beach access, and a tiki bar for the summer - So the room was spacious Well, there was no microwave in the room or coffee pots. Their continental breakfast was gross and chaotic. The restaurant was not available, I would have rather paid for my breakfast than got the free one they offered. A train woke us up in the middle of the night. The pool area smelled like a fish aquarium the first night we were there and towels were only available at the front desk.

- Michelle (4/5): Loved our canoeing couples trip ..hotel needs to go back the way it was... - We have been coming there since 2019 for couples trip Tiffany is the best if it weren't for her we would not come back.. They need to bring back the free breakfast for each guest in the morning and the beach box business sense you give them one thing people are apt to spend more money the place is not like it used to be.. the new owners seem to not really care about the customers .. when you give them the free stuff not much they are more amped to spend money and that's what keeps them coming back also your sauna was not working nobody tried to fix it also you had customers at your beach bar at 11:30 you had waitresses and staff all there and they would not serve anyone drinks until noon when that happened there was about 25 people that they turned away because they could not serve noon and everybody went in town....
- Lucinda (10/5): Awesome - Breakfast great x 2 day
Location great walked whole stay

- Ryan (1/5): we will never stay at this hotel ever again. The East Tawas area is awesome but this place is aweful - We showed up to a dirty smelly hotel room with a leaky ac unit. The floor was soaked and we called fromt desk and they told us they would bring towels for water which they never brought. The beach was gross with garbage. The restraunt smelled like rotten food, it was not an enjoyable time. Upon checkout we told employess of the hotel employees and they did not seem to care. This place should be bulldozed and rebuilt, very unimpressive for our 23 year anniversary!! My wife and i did not like the dirty beach with garbage and beer cans scattered. hotel restraunt wasdirty and smelled aweful, definately has a humidity problem throughout the hotel. leaky ac unit made our rooms carpet wet all weekend!!
- aneta (6/5): It was girls weekend we do every year . - Location is good . It sad they your room is ready but if you want to check in early you have to pay extra ,i have never had to do this in other places . Breakfast should be included .
- Ryan (2/5): This place needs help. - Not enough positives can compensate for the staff being overtly hostile. This business is physically writing all credit card details down on paper for their "security deposit" function when booking third party and pre paying. I believe this to be in violation of secure handling practices. When asked if they could place a credit card hold instead of insecurely writing down my card on paper, was treated in a hostile manner. After providing my concerns at both check-in and checkout to two separate staff members and the general manager, I was asked to never come back to the business. Handling credit card information securely is very important, and think they may be violating established secure practices and their merchant agreement with processors and credit card issuing companies.

- Sarah (8/5): Fantastic, love coming here! - Having free coffee in the lobby was great! Shower water pressure was fantastic. The amenities were great. Location is great. Everything was very clean. Refrigerator was large! Quiet! Lack of in room microwave. The room smelled old. Maybe some type of freshener?
- ED (3/5): - Location was good The front staff was was not very welcoming or helpful. The bathroom was outdated. Overall it is not a very clean, respectful, or welcoming place.
- David (10/5): - This was probably my favorite vacation. To sum it up we have a teenager and he brought a friend. We got 2 rooms, so we did have our own space. All the staff was super nice and friendly and even when our teenagers went to a meal (we have taught them to tip properly) the waiting staff did not know that and were more than gracious. 10/10. A desk professional was a little rude to the boys but we ignored her, you could tell she was not use to dealing with “1 by 1” and was overwhelmed. She was rude but we just ignored her and went about our day :) N/a
- Teresa (5/5): - Breakfast, just OK. Dinner was awesome! We paid extra for a room on the lake side. Most hotels have at least a sliding glass door to exit to watch sunrises/sunsets. We couldn't access the beach from our room. Wouldn't have spent the extra $ for the room if we would of known
- Joshua (4/5): - Wasn't happy with the wait to check in also the pool and hottub was closed down due to medical issues
- Julie (10/5): Definitely will stay here again ! - Beach was very well maintained , hotel was super clean , restaurant and bar has excellent food , service and beautiful to be able to look out onto the water . Very romantic atmosphere 🥰 beds were very comfortable

- woodthingsb (2/5): Very unhappy - Me and a couple friends stayed there last month for work proposes and overall it was an ok property. Desk staff defiantly need training in customer service and know that their job is not to hit on every male customer that walks threw the door.( I overheard two of the girls talking about how they would like to f__k one of the guys that had just checked in.)We paid like $150 a room then. And just today 12/26/2025 was looking to book a room for perchville and the same room we had last month is now over $300 a night. The rooms are out dated and their site says they have a breakfast which is no more than a stale cold muffin or a waffle. That is not a breakfast. Thats a snack. The owner must be a money hungry person. For the same price we were able to book a whole cottage that sleeps up to four people. Hopefully someone from the hotel sees this a is able to talk some sense into the person setting there prices. No wonder they had so many rooms available for perchville. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone I know. You are turning people away with the inconsistent pricing and the front desk workers.Hope this gives someone a wake up call
- Gail (8/5): Our large extended family stayed for two nights. They charged all of us a 20.00 early check-in fee. It’s winter. Barely - Close by the wedding venue. Pool was large. The bed made me feel like I was rolling towards the floor.
- Foor (6/5): -
- Tena (9/5): - Hit tub and pool houts! Po
- Pam (7/5): Not sure if we will return - We enjoyed the lounge area and watched the football game there. The bar was great. Kidd in pool area screaming and jumping from pool to hot tub over and over. We had to leave the area and go back to our room. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to a bit of relaxation. We have ever encountered this before at this hotel.
We asked for a pack of hot chocolate and the receptionist acted like we were asking for the world. Said she wasn’t suppose to give it out. She finally gave us 2 packs but we had to replace them and so we went to Walmart and bought some so we could
- Art (8/5): - We only had coffee and cold cereal as we were going out for breakfast. Room has had some updating. Nice size room. Nice location. Right on the Bay and walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Some remodeling going on, but didn't affect our stay.
- Julie (10/5): -
- Tena (10/5): -
- dianekC254OD (6/5): Good news, bad news! - The room was adequate, amenities were minimal. The continental breakfast was highly disappointing, waffles and cereal with bagels a one type of muffin. There was absolutely no protein of any kind. Yogurt? Hard cooked eggs? Nope. The hallways were very cold which discouraged any trip to the pool, it would have been freezing on the return trip to the room.
- Marianne (8/5): -
- Holliday (10/5): We had a great time! - The breakfast needed some protein like hard boiled eggs or yogurt, but it was good.
- Geri (9/5): - i love coming up to Tawas and staying at the Bay Inn Resort. i have been there several times throughout the years. the only downside was the price to high for off season rates and I asked for a room facing the beach if they had any available. they did but she said she wouldn’t give me one unless i paid more money. as a frequent customer it seems that once in a while you should be able to get perks. There was several rooms facing the beach that were empty. I don’t see how that would hurt the company any shape or form makes you wanna go back more often. oh well that’s the way it is. i have gotten larger rooms for the price of a one bed room many times at different hotels.
- Vern (5/5): -
- Brian (4/5): - The location was great! Close to downtown restaurants and stores. The bed smelled of mildew. Felt unclean. The rest of the room looked okay.
- Kenneth W. (5/5): - The staff was nice The head board on the bed was uncomfortable to sit upright.
The shower was too small, and their was Matt to prevent sliding in the shower.
The breakfast could be better
- Pam (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Tina (10/5): - Everything and everyone were awesome!! First time staying here I will be back!!
- Brian (8/5): - Hotel is declining over the years we have stayed. The bikini bar rewards program ends this month, that is a big loss in our opinion. The employees have turned over a lot. The long service employees are almost all gone, fired or off to better opportunities where they are better appreciated.
- Larry (9/5): Fair to good - The view, sitting on the beach. Clean room and they did have their own restaurant, pool, small exercise room and a bar. The phone was dead, no Kleenex and the TV had many channels but you had to go through them one at a time.
Other than that it was a good experience.
No continental breakfast and no refund if you would have to cancel.
- Donna (8/5): It was good. - Close to the lake except we had a room facing the highway. The room facing the highway and that there wasn’t a full breakfast.
- Otto (8/5): Worked out great for what we were looking to do in the area. -
- Shawn (10/5): - Went 1st week of Oct, we have been here many times in the summer. Wasn’t surprised that Tiki bar was closed but very surprised the inside restaurant and bar was closed on Sunday and Mondays now. This left us no choice but to leave for breakfast and to leave for dinner or a nightcap. Also was surprised to not have a microwave in our room. But still a great place to stay overall
- Arthur (10/5): Great!!!! - All None
- Donald (8/5): - Well maintained and friendly staff
- SANDRA (6/5): No elevator to second floor - Room was dated and need updating. Carpet in hallway and staircase needed cleaning. There is no available elevator and all second floor guests must use the stairs. I have severe arthritis and using the stairs to carry bags was difficult. Staff was friendly but there was a wait in line to check in.
- Brian (10/5): - Everything was smooth, nice place stay.
- susan (10/5): - Parking was close and safe, shopping and restaurants close enough to walk. A beach and pier to enjoy, outdoor seating and an indoor pool.
- Maureen (10/5): - Very clean nice place. Comfortable. Great coffee in the lobby. And loved the attached restaurant too.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Parking was easy and accessible. The room was clean and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming!!
- Craig (10/5): - This is a cute hotel, with a very friendly staff and excellent views of the bay
- Justina (10/5): - This is our second trip to this resort and we enjoy it every time.
- Todd (2/5): - Close to everything and the bar downstairs was fun!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Staff
- Lawrence (8/5): -
- Robert (2/5): - Having a failing back and NO WORKING ELEVATOR (and no 1st floor rooms available) made it impossible for me to stay!
Would have appreciated some notice from either
Expedia or the Resort would have allowed me to make alternative acceptable arrangements!
- Virginia (10/5): - Always clean and friendly
- Ciara (10/5): Nice waterfront view - The coffee was amazing, and staff was super friendly. Very good location by the water and downtown walking right across the street. Built in restaurant had amazing food too. Great stay.
- Mary (10/5): - It was very peaceful, very relaxing. Everybody was very friendly. I would definitely come back.
- Richard (8/5): - I was disappointed because neither key would work in the door. When I called the front desk, they stated I had to come back to the desk to straighten it out.
Second, I was booked for a water view room. Had a giant tree in front of the window. No view….
- Nick (8/5): - .
- Charlene (10/5): - I liked the beach chairs by the water.
- william (7/5): GREAT WEATHER LOVED THE BEACH WILL STAY THERE AGAIN - LOCATION UPDATED BATHROOM
- Yambrick (5/5): Average hotel - I like the location. It was close to downtown. The price was average compared to all the other places in town. The restaurant in the hotel at Tampa Bay Beach resort was great. Good food, good prices and the bar and the people that work there in the restaurant bar. It was a little outdated in the rooms. There was no coffee maker, no microwave. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible and there was no bathroom fan above so the bathroom would steam up. The drain in the sink would fill up and you couldn't get it to go down. It needed to be cleaned out. The lady working at the front desk at Oriental lady was very rude. She's not very frightened the other lady was.
- Foor (6/5): -
- William (4/5): Resort - Not - Arrived in Tawas around 1:00 pm. Couldn't check in until 3 pm unless you wanted to pay $20 for early check in. No, we don't. Bar didn't open until 4. So, we went downtown for lunch and came back at 2:30. My niece paid the $20 but they said ours still wasn't clean. At 2:50 we finally got the room. They lost our lunch, bar and future business. There was a bug on the chair in the morning and the lobby was cold.
- Melissa (10/5): - On the lake. Walking distance
- patrick (8/5): -
- James (8/5): - Everything was clean and the staff was abundant and friendly. For the price room service should have been offered and the restaurant should have a larger menu selection. The beach and outdoor bar were great ! I would recommend staying here we had a good experience.
- Beth (10/5): - Lovely area. The guide books are helpful.
- Horn (5/5): -
- Bonk (8/5): Stay was very good - Room was spacious, clean and location was good Bathroom was redone nicely but the tub/shower size was significantly reduced making it hard to shower. The shower head was also very low meaning I had to bend considerably to wash face and hair
- Rachelle V (4/5): - The only nice thing about this property is the location. It is located walking distance from downtown. The beach is nice and it has a tiki bar. However, the cleanliness of the room had something to be desired. The room we stayed in had a pull out couch that smelled like urine. They didn’t seem very concerned about it. Also, be aware that there is no elevator. So, if you have a room on the second floor, be prepared to have to haul all your things upstairs.
- Anush (8/5): - Good location
- JoAnne (10/5): Would stay again - 2 day stay. Bay view. Bathroom sink was clogged and they fixed it immediately.
- Richard (8/5): - Check in was easy. The room was clean and it was quiet at night. It would be nice if there were more television options such as on demand movies like netflix, hulu, or the like.
- Rosemarie (6/5): Overpriced - Hotel in need of upgrades. There was a mixup at check in as I was assigned to a room that was not ready (after paying extra for an early check in). And without an elevator it was inconvenient for one with luggage. Room was clean, the view awesome, and the Tiki Bar staff outstanding. But this place was way overpriced for value.
- Kara (2/5): - Extremely over priced. This is more of a motel than a resort. They charge you $20 if your room is ready and you want to check in early. Room service is only offered every third day of your stay. You must go to the front desk to get clean bathroom towels, toilet paper and pool towels. Food was terrible and you cannot charge anything to the room in the bar.
- philjR3559JK (2/5): Out dated and way over priced resort (motel). - Stayed for two nights at the Tawas Beach Bay Resort. Here were some things we would like to share:
1. We paid $350 per night $750 total for two nights for a room that was completely outdated (the entire place was outdated).
2. Upon check in we found out that housekeeping will only service your room every third day of your stay. This is completely absurd since most people stay just two nights so it is their way of getting out of tidying up your room.
3. They told us we had to come to the front desk to get fresh bathroom towels each day as they don’t deliver them to your room. We also had to go get more toilet paper from front desk since they only give you one roll.
4. There were no pool towels in the pool area and you had to also go to the front desk to get these as well and they tell you that you must bring them back to the front desk when done with them or you will get charged.
5. If you wanted to check in a little early and if your room is ready they charge you another $20 on top of what you already paid. We have never ever been charged a fee to check into a room early at a so called resort.
6. You cannot charge food or drinks outside at their beach bar to your room so now you have to carry your purse and money with you outside to the beach and beach bar so you can eat and drink. Plus the food tasted terrible and the grease they used to cook chicken strips in tasted like it hadn’t been changed in awhile.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant inside because everyone we spoke with said it was terrible and the other reviews were bad. So we went into town to eat.
We have come to this resort many times in the past but I think the new owners need to take a look at their policies and start putting more money back into updating this place or they will keep losing business. We will not be going back. I would recommend just doing a VRBO instead of this place.
- Lee (10/5): -
- Alicia (8/5): We'll be back - Perfect location in East Tawas. Beautiful beach and access to Lake Huron just steps away. Walk to downtown and local restaurants and attractions. It's probably the nicest hotel in town, as far as amenities go, but it is showing some wear and tear. However, we're here for the beach, not the shower pressure!
- Dennis (8/5): Fun downtown and location with a relaxing tiki bar - Tiki bar was great and pool and hot were open til 11. Close to boardwalk and downtown Staff kinda rude. Also if u try to check prior to 3pm, even 20 mins they will change u 20$ or so for early check in, kinda weird if room is all ready....
- Clayton (10/5): - Property was well maintained, staff was extremely friendly and within walking distance to the downtown area.
- Michael (9/5): Loved the place and will go again. - Excellent location. Walked to downtown and to fish on pier. Hotel was very clean, restaurant food was good and reasonable priced. Staff was excellent every part of the place. Could have let you know ahead of time there was no elevator. only 2 floors and 17 steps up but I had a bad foot.
- kwiatkowski (8/5): - Breakfast was average. Hours restaurant closed. It was a bit pricey to stay there.
- Marty (10/5): - We ate at the Tiki Bar and it was good for what they had on the menu. Bed comfort was amazing, bed was comfy. Beach sand was clean no sticks, the water had no rocks. will be back there again yearly.
- Marty (10/5): - Tiki Bar is where we ate, and the bed was super comfy
- Tammy (10/5): - I like the beach access and the beach bar.
