We mainly enjoyed the facilities but were not notified that our room came without both breakfast and dinner AND if your room does not have either of those, it's not actually possible to eat at any of the restaurants on the property. You must absolutely book a room with dining, they will not serve walk-in guests at their restaurants. Also, the beds and rooms are very sparse, bed was extremely hard and difficult to sleep on.

- MAKI (10/5): - 今回傘寿のお祝いでお伺いしました。お出迎えや、客室のスタッフさん共に笑顔で対応してくれ、とても心地よく過ごせることができました。ありがとうございます。前もって傘寿の衣装をお願いしてあったのですが、木彫りのお祝いのプレートも頂き、本人もとても喜んでいました。食事の説明もわかりやすく気配りもして頂きありがとうございました。 また露天風呂付き客室もくつろげて良かったです。 また機会がありましたら、ぜひ宿泊させていただきたいと思います。

- Paul (9/5): The hotel was full of families and their friends, all enjoying themselves in a lively atmosphere. - For some reason I didn't book breakfast, but there is a Lawson's convenience store virtually next door that was a good source of food when we needed it. The WiFi access wasn't as straight-forward as the other hotels we stayed in but we eventually got it all squared away.
- Lee (8/5): Nice Ryokan - Property has a large openair carpark. Activity like cooking your own onsen eggs and free buns and jelly for tea made the stay special. We were also given free admission ticket to Kaga Craft Village which is 15 mins drive away. Room was very nice and comfortable with private onsen. Food was not great. Expected better food for the amount we paid.

We use the public onsen before dinner so there are not much people. The private onsen in the room also great, but will be a bit small if two people bath together. - canontnia (10/5): Great attention to detail - This is a large ryokan, although the lay out makes it seem and feel more intimate. Check in was professional and friendly as was our orientation with a cup of green tea made by staff in our room. We had the Japanese style room. The room was beautifully traditional and minimalist with a beautiful tokonoma, but also included a TV, fridge and excellent amenities. Of course yukatas and "happi coats" (a short coat over the yukata) in different sizes and sandals were also provided. The room even included a couple of beautiful origami birds. During our dinner our beds of comfortable futons were laid on the tatami mat floors. All in all very comfortable. The onsen was wonderfully relaxing after a day of touring with three different temperatures available; equally great was going into the onsen bath as a way of energizing oneself early in the morning. This ryokan had extended hours. As novices we were thankful that it wasn't busy. But you soon get the hang of the various steps in an onsen bath - especially making sure your tenugui or small towel never touches the water. All in all this ryokan was an excellent and enjoyable introduction to another aspect of Japanese life.

- LuLuCNL (8/5): An overall good hotel - Yunokuni Tensyo was a fairly large onsen hotels when compared to others in the area. There was a good variety of indoor and outdoor onsens. It would be better if the indoor and outdoor onsens were located on the same floor. The dinner was very good and the staff did not charge us corkage fees for bringing our own wines there to enjoy. We bought some almond tofu snack from the shop of the hotel and it turned out to be very good when chilled.

Our stay was especially enjoyable because of the wonderful staff there. There are also many onsen options available within the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

- bonc627 (8/5): Nice hotel - We booked a room on top floor with private open air onsen. Room is spacious and with nice view. Meal is good with so much food to eat in one set. Service is nice too. The hotel itself has some activities for guests if you arrived early, we went there at about 5pm while most activity ended at about 6pm. We just tried the making of onsen eggs which is free of charge.

- Eva (10/5): Great hotel - The hotel is very clean and room is quite big. There are a few types of hot springs which are all fantastic. The location is easy to find and parking is free. Many restaurants around so OK to walk around and find one(s) that suit you. The hotel provide free ticket to Kaya forest which is a nice attraction to go in the area.
- sam2hk (10/5): Good place for rest and onsen - Once arrived to the hotel, the hotel staff explain us all detail of the hotels and areas which we can make use. Our package only included room but they also offer a small free breakfast on our stay which made us a good start in the morning. they also provide us special offer in Kaga area and show us all the information we needed on our next day schedule. I communicate with them in English, I fully understand him and is the most remarkable hotel we stayed during this trip.
- ハチ (8/5): 山代温泉の入り口に位置しているホテル - 最上階の部屋に案内され、とても落ち着いた静かな時間を過ごせるところでありました。ただ、宿泊日が4月の初旬とあり、某薬局の新社会人研修生がたくさん見えていたために、その方たちのマナーの悪さで少しがっかりでした。受け入れることはよいのですが、せっかくのホテルの品位が下がりますね。 全体的には、再度宿泊したい良いホテルでした。
- ChaicharnD (10/5): Excellent hotel with very nice service - We spent 3 nights for half board in Deluxe Suite open air bath room. The room is very spacious and excellent view. The onsen is big, clean but a little bid crowded. The food is excellent especially dinner Kaiseki set. I do really recommend especially the room type we stay.

- CLau888 (8/5): Fabulous hotel - There are a few onsen are in the Kaga onsen region, and choosing which area to stay is not easy in the first place. After staying at Tensyo I did not regret choosing it. Located near the entrance from the main road, the hotel has a relatively big parking area across the street. It is a traditional style big onsen hotel. Since the hotel has several wings, it stretches a long way from the entrance. Check in was smooth. The hotel provides free admission tickets to the nearby yunokuni no mori village for two which is nice. Originally I planned to go to another attraction of kutaniyaki but finally decided to give this yunokuni no mori a try. This attraction is about 15 minutes drive away and worth a visit. Our room is located at the far end of the hotel, passing through the souvenir shop, function room, onsens, late night restaurants, etc. I reserved a very spacious Japanese style suite, which has a sofa and a small family room extension. The room also has 2 toilets which is rare. Lots of activities going on in the hotel during the stay. There is free pudding available, free onsen eggs which guests can put in a netted bag and put into the onsen pool at the hotel front. After some 40 minutes the eggs are ready to eat. I had the crab meal that evening with every course contains crab. Excellent for crab lovers. Good food quality and good service. The hotel has 3 different onsens and they are excellent, especially the outdoor one. You have to schedule your time so that you can enjoy all three onsens if you only have one day. About 10 minutes from the main onsen through an enjoyable walk. Plenty of restaurants and shops on the way.

- sheilal457 (8/5): Big hotel with nice onsen and nice food - It is a very big onsen hotel with 3 public onsen, spa/beauty facilities, karaoke, various restaurants, etc. We stayed 2 nights at a suite on the top floor with private onsen. The room is very spacious and comfortable with a wide view towards the Japan sea. Hotel offers free shuttle buses to JR Kaga station 3 times a day (reservation not needed) which takes ~10min.

- Justin9127 (10/5): A spacious and comfortable Onsen Hotel in Kaga Japan - The Yunokuni Tensyo Onsen Hotel is a very spacious and comfortable one we have lived in Kaga, Japan. The room was very big, exceeding 100 square meters, with a very long corridor, a large bathroom with bathtub, a small toilet, a large tatami area with suitable sized table, a resting area with two comfy armchairs, two single beds and an outdoor onsen pool for people to relax fully during the trip. The tatami's were comfortable and large sized generally. Our dinner and breakfast was served in a private room in the Japanese restaurant, which was lovely and yummy overall. The service there was brillant, the waiter spoke Putonghua and assisted us as he could possibly do. The onsens throughout the hotel were brillant. The best thing was that only 1-3 persons were in the onsen pool the second day, making our experience even better than possible.

- dewa (8/5): 温泉メイン！ - チェックインの際のお迎えは着物の舞妓さんの方のような女性の美しい笑顔で迎えられ荷物も即座に対応。気持ちよく入れました。従業員の方達の対応や笑顔、あいさつ、親切度は最高です。こちらは温泉メインで宿泊されることをおすすめします。露天風呂や大浴場、源泉湯は見事で清潔綺麗。一番人のいない時間帯、温泉開始の１２時〜誰もおらず快適。夕方１６時以降は込む感じがしました。朝は逆に温泉終了タイムは人が少なかったです。入浴の貸し切り状態の１２時〜１５時あたりは優雅にすごせる温泉時間のチャンスかと思います。

- marcas (10/5): 素晴らしいコストパフォーマンス - 日曜日に加賀開催のスポーツイベントに参加し、翌日帰路に就くまでの時間つぶしの目的で食事なしの一番安いプランを予約しました。観光ではないので寝ることさえできれば十分と思っていましたが、サービス・設備ともに想像以上に素晴らしくて、時間つぶしではなくしっかり滞在を楽しむことができました。 一番安いプランなので部屋の狭さや設備は並のビジネスホテルかそれ以下といった程度でしたが、３つもある大浴場やふかしジャガイモなどのサービス、雰囲気の良い喫茶店などは部屋のプランと関係なく利用できるので、コストパフォーマンスの面ではかなりお得です。利用期間外でしたがウォータースライダー付きの立派なプールもあるようです。 スタッフも大半の方は愛想が良く、皆で良い雰囲気を作っているホテルという感じがしました。細かい点ではいくつか改善して欲しい事もありましたが、価格を考えれば素晴らしいコストパフォーマンスだと思います。
- kobekeith (6/5): So-so Rooms But Great Onsen - My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights during a long spring trip because we wanted a place to relax for a few days. The baths were very nice & clean compared to other places I have been to. There were inside & outside baths. Our room was very average and outdated. We did not sit on the sofa because it was stained. We were hoping that the stains were from people sitting on them with wet towels or robes but they looked dirtier than that. There was hair in the sink too but we just rinsed it down the drain. The food wasn't that great either. I live in Japan and know more than department store food floors and convenience store food so my standards are higher than the usual tourists. The food pictures in the above reviews represent the quality fairly well. Fancy hospital cafeteria food or maybe international business class flight bento box food. If you're hungry after 9:00 p.m. during your vacation, you can pretty much only get ramen or smuggle in low quality snacks from the Lawson's convenience store next to the hotel. They have a bizarre rule that claims "no outside food or drink" but it is not enforced because we saw many guests in the convenience store wearing the "yukata" from the hotel and we saw them carrying in bags of snacks and drinks. One thing that my friend noticed at check-in was that I had to push my own bags on a cart from the front desk up to our room but other guests did not. I thought it was because we were younger but people in our age group received assistance. That didn't bother me as much as it did my Japanese friend. He thought it was rude as a former hotel worker from a better hotel in Osaka. I didn't mind it. The train station pick-up was odd. The driver arrived and told us to wait there for 15 minutes but it ended up being 35 minutes. My friend went to search for the driver after 30 minutes and had to retrieve him from inside of Kaga Onsen Station. Had the baths not been so great, I would have given this hotel a lower rating. Yamanaka Onsen is a great place not too far away to spend several hours. We had a car rental too so it was easier to see more of the are. The buses were infrequent
- VickyA985 (8/5): Excellent onsen experience - We stayed at Yunokuni Tensyo for one night. Our Japanese-style room was quiet though facing the street. It had ensuite bathroom and separate toilet compartment. The room was clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were served in the dining room. The food quality was fine. Onsens were available on the 1st floor and 3rd floor. We tried them all. Great onsen experience.

Had little treats like free welcome jelly and learning to make our own onsen eggs. Enjoyed the onsen very much. The rooms were big, clean and comfortable. I want to go back there again.!

Well maintained, but our room was a little dated. The bed was firm, but comfortable. I would probably stay somewhere else next time though.
- SydneyGyoza (10/5): Thoroughly Enjoyable - Had a 2 night stay here. It is a large complex and is very popular and therefore can get crowded. For us the prime reasons to visit an onsen resort are of course the hot baths and food. On both counts Yunokuni Tensyo scores very highly. The facilities are excellent and well maintained. There were 3 hot bath complexes with indoor and outdoor baths as well as an outdoor foot bath. Meals are served in a private room allocated for your stay. Meals are seasonal and reflect regional style with of course a heavy seafood component. We booked one of the more expensive rooms and were upgraded to a corner room with private hot bath on a private deck. The room again was excellent and very large with every amenity imaginable, including a Bose sound system. A pair of rocking chairs overlooking the view was a nice touch. Free wi fi was available in the hotel lobby area only. Room rates are not cheap but the resort offers a number of “fun” free services such as an opportunity to boil your own eggs in hot spring water, steamed potatoes in the morning, cool desserts after bathing and herbal tea. In summer there is also an outdoor pool with 150 metre water slide. It is possible to explore the local area using the Canbus service and the hotel has a free shuttle service to the local JR station which is about a 45 minute trip from Kanazawa. The nearest airport is Komatsu Airport. For those looking to experience an up market onsen resort experience in Japan should seriously consider Yunokuni Tensyo. We certainly plan on returning.
