• MiaB6203 (10/5): Perfect Place to Stay in Asunción - We spent two separate long weekends at La Casona on our last visit to Paraguay. From the initial communications via the Internet; to the driver meeting us at the airport; to the welcome upon arrival...everything was wonderful! The well refurbished and maintained colonial house has all that we needed. It was comfortable, clean, convenient and felt like we were at home. The owners and staff are friendly, helpful and accomodating. Thank you! We have already recommend La Casona to friends who will visit Paraguay.
• Clive (8/5): Charming hotel with lovely, helpful staff - La Casona is a small, charming boutique hotel on a quiet Asunción street. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the rooms are nicely furnished. Perhaps most notable about the hotel is its lovely outside space, including an upstairs outdoor gym in the grounds! The WiFi is good and there is off street parking for about four cars.

• OneAddictedTraveler (8/5): An old mansion - This hotel has a lovely courtyard and fine rooms. We were pleased with the accommodations. No staff member that we met spoke any English. A misunderstanding with the desk clerk soured us on their service. We arrived fairly late at about 7:45. Our guide translated for us at check-in. We asked about dinner service and several choices were mentioned. We proceeded to settle into our comfortable room. Returning for supper about 8:15 the clerk said no. When we didn't comprehend, he used the computer to translate that the kitchen was closed. The material in the room specifically said the kitchen was open until 21:00. Breakfast in the morning was excellent with made to order eggs.
• 24pierref (8/5): Cozy colonial mansion in a quiet and green setting with excellent service - I stayed a full week and was very satisfied. The hotel is small-scale, occupying a charming colonial house with a traditional open corridor, a patio with nice greenery and a small pool. There is no traffic noise at all, rather you can hear birds singing in the morning. Rooms (I tried two types) were spacious and comfortable with excellent beds and bathrooms. The a/c (convertible as a heater) was silent and efficient. Along the outdoor corridor there are several comfortable seating areas as well as in the patio (which also houses a barbecue at your disposal). Breakfast was good and service excellent, staff very friendly and forthcoming. Wi-fi was reliable and taxis swiftly available upon request. The hotel also boasts a meeting or TV-room which can be used by the guests. This kind of lodging is still rare in Asunción and this small hotel is highly recommended! Room for improvement: (a) A more varied breakfast would certainly be appreciated; (b) the small gym needs repair and new equipment in order to function as such.

• Gilberto Abrao (10/5): Muito tranquilo - Hotel de poucos quartos com decoração moderna e agradável. Apesar de ficar ao lado de um cemitério acho que o local vale muito a pena pelo serviço de primeira e localização em área residencial muito tranquila e proximo a shoppings. Dá para ir a pé.
• KristinP223 (10/5): Beautiful old home converted to quaint hotel in Asuncion - We flew to Asuncion, Paraguay to visit our daughter and stayed at the beautiful and very comfortable La Casona Hotel. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The grounds are beautiful with a relaxing open-air porch, hammocks and comfortable couches. There is a small pool and an area for entertaining. Our rooms were very comfortable - probably the best bathroom/shower arrangement that we had on our entire trip throughout S. America. We had a front room/suite that opened to an enclosed living space-area that we could share with our adult children. Breakfast was excellent. It is not easy for U.S. travelers to navigate through Asuncion, especially at night. The front desk/host was fluent in English and was very helpful to us in making arrangements for cab and future travel. This hotel was the first on our journey throughout S. America and I was later thinking that I wished all of our accommodations were as comfortable and nice as the La Casona Hotel. We highly recommend it.
• TribalVal (10/5): Home from home... - Situated in a residential area this charming hotel is a home from home, the room was very comfortable and bathroom superb. The Casona is a wonderfully refurbieshed colonial house with excellent taste throughout. Breakfast was great and the front office staff were helpful and very professional.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Outstanding small hotel that felt like home. It is close to the city but quiet. The people here are amazing and the service was even better. One night we wanted to grill and the staff helped us start our coals and even provided extra commodities for our romantic dinner. One night even in the rain they were waiting with an umbrella and walked us to our room. I can't say enough about how wonderful the service was here. I look forward to coming many times more!!!!! I will truly miss it!
• Juan3Mtraveled (10/5): Unique experience - Stayed a week. Beautiful colonial house, now a hotel. Friendly staff always open for a conversation. Good coffee and nice "mate" selection that they will prepare for you. Rooms are nice, big, and clean. Beautiful garden to sit and relax, and cute swimming pool. I will recommend you to order "asado" (traditional Paraguay meat cut) and they will prepare for you in the grill by the pool.
• mike (10/5): A gem in Asuncion - We arrived at 3:00 am and as we pulled up the door man was out to help with bags. They had breakfast ready for us even though we didn't wake up until after 12:00. We were without a phone, and we're not fluent in Spanish. The desk person made some important calls and appointments for us. The garden and pool were very nice and quiet. We loved this place. The location was great, all the newest restaurants and shopping is in the Villa Morra district of Asuncion where this hotel is located.
• MRichardson2014 (10/5): Service is above and beyond - La Casona is a charming hotel located in the newer part of the city close to La Recolata cemetary. The hotel is a renovated colonial home with nine rooms which are situated on the ground floor around the pool and covered veranda. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with Paraguayan items on offer and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. What makes this hotel really special is the attention given by the owners Gustavo and Pekita. We were having difficutly finding a suitable guide to take us on a tour of southern Paraguay so I contacted the hotel to see if they had any recommendations. Pekita responded immediately that she would ask the National tourism office. She got back to us shortly thereafter with the names and contact info for three guides. All three responded with a suggested tour and we have just finished our tour with one of these guides who was knowledgeable, pationate and speaks very good English. Gustavo also called us today to enquire about our experience with the guide as he had not dealt with him before. Incredible service from very nice hosts. We recommend strongly.

• Rutilante (10/5): Superb !! - A truly gem in Asuncion. A colonial house fully renovated with everything you may need. The staff is absolutely friendly and attemptive. At the front desk Carlos will do wathever it takes to make you comfortable. Ceferina and Agripina took good care of us, from cooking a "mbeju" to getting the "mate" ready many times a day. The whole location is clean and quiet. Rooms are big and clean. There are three pillows for guest, you can choose the best for you. The bathroom is big, with all the ammenities you may need. I strongly recommend this place.
• Colesterol (6/5): Very nice boutique hotel, but... - In the three days I stayed, only in two occasions I managed to get Internet in the lobby and never got internet in my room. I travel for work, and with 35C outside (100 F) and no coffee places or internet joints nearby, this is a no no. On top of that, my T-Mobile cell phone chip, which generally gives me 3G in many places, did not work in Asuncion. So I was completely isolated. Another drawback is taxis/transportation. In two occasions I needed a cab and had to walk to the taxi stop (parada de taxis), six blocks away, to wait for one in the heat, since the hotel does not have any stop nearby. Nor has any taxi or car that could recommend. Other than that, the place is very nice, well served, staff is very courteous and friendly. A pity, since it is also located in Villa Morra, which is a nice and trendy neighbourhood. If those two things: internet and transportation are solved, I would recommend the place. • Roberto (4/5): Could have been a nice stay - The hotel is nice and the staff is helpful. The main issues I had is that in the room specification it mentioned that I had a suite with separate dining area and when I got there there wasn't such a thing. All the rooms were occupied so I had to stay in a standard one, no compensation was offered but the staff was helpful and offered a meeting room for me to use, which would have been fine if it wasn't for the fact that the internet wasn't working most of the time. They did bring technicians in but in any case it was a disastrous stay for the purpose of my visit as I needed to work remotely from the hotel and I basically couldn't period. I would expected much better for the price, which is not on the low end for Asunción.

• Juan Ramon (8/5): Hotel pequeño pero con excelente servicio - Fue un viaje de negocios, el personal fue extremadamente servicial, ayudaron a cualquier requerimiento que tuve. Es un hotel pequeño lo que permite una atención mucho mas personal. En lo negativo, le falta restaurante y no hay nada cerca caminando, así que hay que llegar ya despues de comer o pedir alguno domicilio, el personal del hotel te ayudará contactando el domicilio si es necesario. Muy bien en general.
• FEDERICO NICOLAS (10/5): Para destacar y recomendar. - Excelente hotel. Es pequeño pero muy recomendable. Se encuentra en una zona residencial a cuatro cuadras de un shoping. Creo que en total el hotel tiene 10 habitaciones. El estado general es excelente (es destacable lo lindo y bien mantenido que está todo). Todo muy cuidado y la decoracion resulta muy agradable. Las habitaciones no son grandes pero las camas muy amplias/nuevas. Todo super limpio y en perfectas condiciones. Los amenities del baño son bastante completos; solo criticaria los pequeños jabones que te dan, podrian mejorarlos con un tamaño mas facil de usar. El servicio de wifi funciona bien, no tuve problemas para trabajar ni para usar skype. El desayuno es excelente. En cuanto al servicio del personal, es de destacar. Han estado super atentos para todos los requerimientos que tuve en mi estadia.
• 548xanderw (10/5): Little hidden paradise - A truly hidden Paradise in Asuncion. This boutique hotel has been renovated in old colonial style but serves you with all modern facilities, like very good internet. Upon entering this hotel you step into a tranquile oasis and being served by a very kind staff. The room is basic but spotless clean with a very comfortable bed. The garden is also a joy to spend the evening hours after a hard day work. My 2 day stay was for business reasons in Asuncion but this hotel made a feel a bit like holiday. I would recommend it to everybody.

Hotel is clean, peaceful and quiet, which is ideal after a long days work in Asuncion. Very friendly staff from security to front desk to housekeepers. The owner, Gustavo, makes all guests feel welcome and personally ensured guests were enjoying their stay.

The owners are very friendly and have created an environment that makes you feel at home. Located next to the mayor bussines areas, but isolated in a quaint and quiet neighborhood. Loved the big tree in the entrance!
