• Michael (8/5): - This property is in dire need of a refresh, but this is correctly reflected in the room rate. The property is clean and beds were comfortable. It's a minimalist property so keep your expectations in the appropriate range, but as a reasonably priced option, this place does the trick.
• Kyra (4/5): Updates - Need better lock out system, I waited outside for over an hour in the cold due to being locked out of the hall door, emergency contact or on call should be in place, bed is outdated and uncomfortable, door lock is broken, and shower stall door doesn’t fully close.
• Ronald (4/5): - When I check in I receive my statement and a note stated the room was renovated. Upon entering the room I gather the room was renovated in the mid to late seventies.

• John (4/5): - There was mold in the bathroom took a pic of the mold. Lots of long black hair on bathroom floor mat.
• Diana (4/5): - The window next to the entry was broken and the worn tape indicated that the window had been broken for some time. The door to the room fitted poorly and the chain lock broken. It took several minutes for hot water to flow from the shower and a large clump of black hair was stuck on the shower wall. In the morning someone was asleep in the hallway. All in all, not a good experience!
• Bryna (10/5): - Super clean room with personal touches. Pillows are a bit thin so bring your own if you want fluffy ones. Motel is full so diagonal parking is full/crowded. Great location with friendly and easy check-in.
• Pamela (4/5): - Room was convenient. The rooms was a different story. The bed was hard the pillows were flat the TV and satellite box were unplugged. There was used soaps and towels in the bathroom, front desk did not care. It was key entry. You can hear your neighbors watching TV or other things.
• Perm (6/5): - Good place to stay. Restaurant and gas station/store as part of complex. Rooms a little dated but clean and comfortable. Parking on site could get a little tight in busy times.
• Jacinta (8/5): - The motel is very well located. Near the lake, gas station is right there along with a very good restaurant. The only part that was a turn off was the $200 damage deposit which was returned on our card 2 days later. We stayed in over 15 motels in our 3 weeks trip to the Maritimes from Calgary and it was the only motel that needed a damage deposit.

The hallway had a stale smell and the room was extremely small as the bed took up most of it. The parking was extremely difficult to navigate as it was narrow and was extremely sloped. Check-in was through a convenience store as well. As for cleanliness we did not look any further after seeing how small the room was.

• Michael (4/5): - Paintwork in room 21 was grubby, it needed cleaning. The carpet was dirty and stained. There was a fitting on the bath top that was was black. Wall paper was hanging off the wall. No tissues despite there being a holder and we were told they had none, although they owned a convenience store on site. Bed coverlets were worn and tired. It was very much overpriced for the quality of accommodation. It needed a complete renovation. On reflection, it was worth only one star

We were given 2 keys, one for the outside door and one for the room. They did not work that well Most motels have upgraded to a keyless entry.only one bed which we knew but it was a double, not a queen. Since it was my daughter and I staying here did not feel that safe

I have to wonder what the $200 required deposit is for, there doesn't seem to be anything worth that in the room. A place to sleep for one night only. No air-conditioning.

We had to buy a fan so we could sleep the 2nd night. First night wasn’t comfortable. The pillows are very thin. We asked for another set. Otherwise everything else was good. Don’t think we would stay there again knowing the rooms aren’t cool
• Sreemali (2/5): Terrible stay and terrible service. - First of all, we booked a room with a stove/oven - like the one on the picture. But when we got our room, it didn't have a stove. We were planning to prepare some meals and this was not possible. Then on the last day, we booked an extra night. But when we got back to our room, all our things were moved to another room -- we were not told they were going to do this. All our personal belongings were left out and they had shoved everything in dirty bags and moved to the other room. When we complained they said they had to servive the room. They offered no apology The man in the front dest was rude. The place was so run down and placed like this should not be allowed to operate and take money from customers.

I was exhausted the next day as I had no sleep, i was scared being there over night.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Don’t waste your money - Very old and sub par property. Don’t waste your money to stay here. Safety a concern as doors need to be replaced. Door knob to our room didn’t even work, only the deadbolt worked. Couldn’t have many things plugged in at the same time such as tv, fridge, stove, coffee maker etc. They charge $20 per hour if you want to check in early. Very small shower but we did have hot water 😊
• Joseph (2/5): - Water in bath with shut off. No plug for the tub. Wifi doesn’t work and no one knows why. Full house so can’t change rooms. Very poor.
• Vi (4/5): - Decent place to stay overnight, considering all the other options are double the price. Bring extra bed linings if you're boogie. This place does the job, cheap in and out. The walls are thin.

Carpet is disgusting and the bedding smelt like perfume of which i was told later was fabreeze. Do not recommend this accommodation.

Nobody would be there after that Room is in.need of up dating. Carpet was old and dirty. The bathroom had mold on the wallAnd the bath tub tap was dripping and had been for awhile enough to stain the bath tub. The bed was clean and ok. The door coming into the main lobby banged really loud until we realized we had to put the stopper down on the bottom of the door to bring in luggage. Parking not very efficient

• Harley (2/5): - No other hotel in the area charges for a deposit on a one night stay, I took pictures and video of our hotel room before and after we checked in and out, because they've been known to steal the deposit from their customers. Very unsafe, four rooms share an entry, there are no locks on the door to protect from strangers coming in. Signs say no smoking, but the workers smoke right in front of the hotel room window. Not safe, saw crack pipes broken beside my car when we left at 4am this morning. Couldn't sleep as people in the shared rooms were loud and banging around until midnight. Could not check in early, even though we were told over the phone we could check in at noon when we arrived into Kenora. Owner is sexist, he would not talk to me or look me in the eyes, but the moment my husband came in he spoke to him like I didn't exist. Had to beg for a receipt and a list of our charges. By far the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel/motel and I stayed at the Horseshoe in Vegas.

After viewing the room decided not to stay. Too small and old, the entrance hall security door is also worn out.

Flys everywhere . dumpster outside room from the restaurant next door Mold in the bathroom tub floor and ceiling Denys in the walks both Barry abd dink did not drain .. dark dingy and the only thing that kept us cool was the stand up fan that fell over and broke at 5 am it was a rotating fan and could not open a window as it was to noisy . This place was a dump and I cancelled my second night and made sure I got proof they credited my credit card the $200 security deposit . Next time I will check reviews before booking . I was able to get a room at the Sunset Inn about 4 min away . More money but well worth the difference . I travel a lot and Lake-VU is the worst motel experience I have ever had . Manager was a prick when I complained and would not come to the room to see how bad it was .. he already knew . He did sent another staff member ti fix the TV as it was too complicated to fiqure out but he did fix it . Hot water and clean sheets was all this place had to offer but the breakfast next door in the restaurant same building was excellent just not the motel . Do not ever stay at this place it’s terrible beyond belief

• Verified traveler (4/5): K - The only reason i give this place 2 stars is because the beds and towels were clean. Otherwise the tub surround was moldy and the carpets made your feet black, although they did provide disposable slippers. Check-in was in the restaurant/convenience store/gas station. Friendly enough staff, just a strange check-in. This worked for a one night stay on our road trip but way over priced for what you get, this should be an $80 a night kinda place.

• Jodie (2/5): - The room was so outdated. The bathroom sink was from the early 70’s the shower was very small with no shelf inside for soap or shampoo. I think they must have emptied the bottle of Fabreeze from top to bottom. Very pungent. The rug was extremely stained. I found mould on the shower door bottom hinge. I think the bedspreads were also from the 70’s and I’m not kidding. The door only locked with the deadbolt and the door was misaligned so there was a big gap at the bottom which I stuck the facecloth in to hide and made the door tighter. I could hear everything going on from the rooms surrounding. Very noisy. Would not recommend to anyone. And at $150.00 a night I guess it’s a bargain.??

• Steffi (6/5): - The stay was fairly average. I wouldn’t recommend it for families with kids, as there was a noticeable smell of weed. The room had some bugs, and both the room and washroom were quite small. After the gas station closes, there’s no staff available on-site, which can be inconvenient. The security deposit was also relatively high, and the room lacked sufficient lighting. On a positive note, the location is close to a beautiful beach and park, both within walking distance. Parking is available just in front of the building.
• Janet (6/5): - We had 3 of us in the room and received one face cloth and 3 hand towel..how to shower? Being own towels. While they state they have A/C they control it. Carpets are sticky. Chain on door has not locking ability and the piece of the door that engages to the strike plate was stuck in the door. Thank goodness for the deadbolt. Wifi is rubbish. Lastly you have to set up the tv and cable yourself.
