Diane (6/5): - It had a nice welcoming area with the fireplace, the pool looks filthy there was dirt on our sheets and on our blanket, the pool so they could only have so many people in and the same people are allowed in all night so no one else was basically allowed to use the pool or hot tub area, I repeatedly asked for an invoice to be emailed to me and I had to call three times to get it.
Erin (10/5): Great hotel, friendly staff - This was the 2nd time we have stayed here and highly recommend. The staff are very friendly, breakfast had a good variety and the pool is perfect. It has a hot tub, a small pool with slide for toddlers and a regular pool. The rooms are comfortable. We will stay again when we are in the area.
JCM (8/5): - The receptionist was very nice but did not wear PPE or have hand sanitizer available for guests. There was popcorn and a hair tie on the floor next to the bed so cleaning is a little haphazard. Other guests did not wear masks either on the whole, but I understand masks were made compulsory in MN the day after our stay so hopefully that has been remedied. The wifi was unsecured and pretty poor.

The room and bathroom was clean, spacious, and quiet. One bed was comfortable but the other needed to be replaced. Morning staff was very friendly also. Breakfast was microwavable but good.

Verified traveler (8/5): Good but different breakfast set up. - Breakfast was not what I expected. You get the raw/frozen/packaged items out of a couple refrigerators then heat them up in a microwave. They could use another microwave as that was a bottleneck. It was good, but harder than the flip over waffles and hot food in a couple warmers when trying to get a family fed and on the move. No decaf coffee. Pool was good, kiddy pool was fine, the frog slide was fun for my child, but they had issues with the hot tub so it was cold and the jets just bubble up the wall, don't shoot out into the tub. Looks nice but no actual message action.

Sandy (10/5): Nice hotel at a reasonable price - We stayed 2 nights while on a fishing trip. The hotel staff was very friendly, and the room was nice. It is not a 5 star hotel by any means, but we knew that going there. The hotel was clean. The continental breakfast was good. They had a wide variety of foods, including sausage patties and eggs that could be warmed in the adjacent microwave. There is a restaurant next door that is open until 10 pm that will even cook your own cleaned fish for a fee! We got back late, so we missed the restaurant but were able to get food until 1 am at the casino just down the road. The room was clean, but the mattress was a little hard. Bathroom was very nice and spacious and clean. Overall, we had a very good experience and would stay there again given the chance.

Jason (10/5): Hot tub! - Our room was very large and comfortable, and we really enjoyed the hot tub en suite!! There is a bar and grill next door that does take out for dinner, and breakfast in the hotel was good, with hot and cold options. We also enjoyed the lodge feel of the place, and the historical pictures on the wall. There is no elevator, so consider if you'll have too much luggage to walk up the stairs. We also drove to nearby Itasca State Park in the morning to see the headwaters of the Mississippi in the morning - worth the trip.

traveller (8/5): Deer river... - Nice hotel, clean. Bed super soft :( wifi was borderline unusable. Tv had no channel guide so it was a guess of what to watch. Hot tub and pool were great. Overall it's a place to stay. Most importantly clean. Can put up with no wifi and lousy tv if things are clean. Breakfast in the morning was better than expected.

Paul (10/5): Comfortable and Attractive! - Though it's not a full featured hotel, i.e.: thin towels, week AC, basic beds/linens. It is still quite comfortable and frankly, an attractive hotel. Service was great, friendly, and joyful. If you want a "nice" place to stay without all the cost, this one is it! And it is close enough to Grand Rapids.
