Guest Reviews
- Rick (6/5): - This property was fine. It included breakfast but they served the same items both mornings we were there. I am not sure if that is a standard menu everyday but if it is that would get tiresome if you stayed longer then a couple of days.
- Laurie_Stride (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Elevator wade things easier, clean and comfortable. Morning complimentary breakfast was lovely. The Gander mall is across the street.
- Laurie (10/5): - Elevator made things easier. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was lovely.
- Darley (8/5): - Adequate.
Meals okay.
Guest laundry!
- debby (10/5): - Clean room and comfy!
- John (8/5): - Clean good breakfast had dinner in restaurant normal pricing. Near to airport. Airport worth visit to all the exibits
- Charlene (8/5): - Nice place, friendly staff, really nice breakfast
- Christine (10/5): - Really liked the room and that it was big and the bathroom had a separate dressing area versus the bathtub. It was also dark at night so I could sleep really well. The restaurant was convenient and we ate there and the food was good. Also got free breakfast the next day, which was also decent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful
- Marina (8/5): - The restaurant being at the hotel was very convenient. The hallways are long and narrow. The room was very spacious. Hallway carpet is outdated.
- Mike (10/5): - Nice hotel. Its clean, quiet and has everything you need right there, restaurant, bar, breakfast in the morning. Check in and checkout was fast and friendly.
I'd definitely stay there again!
- Richard (8/5): Good enough for a quick stop over for sure! - The front desk service was excellent, The lounge was busy, but the food was great and worth the wait. Rooms are a bit dated, but clean and comfortable.
- Jill (6/5): - Hotel very run down. Paint chips on doors, old carpet in rooms, poor condition.
- Darlene (10/5): - Just went there for a couple of days. We always stay at Sinbads. Staff is awesome as well as the breakfast. You can't beat it.
- Fargo (6/5): - carpet is dirty
- Grace (2/5): - A room with window facing a big wall only few feet away. Could not see the sky and anything else. The room was dark and the floor was creaky. We could hear every step of the people in the room above us. The corridor and the room had very unpleasant smell. Could not rest at all. The only good thing is a decent breakfast.
- Raffaelina (10/5): - Very nice pet friendly hotel with great staff and clean rooms.
- George (10/5): - Clean, comfortable room and friendly staff.
- Arlene (8/5): - The restaurant on the premises offered great food, prepared nicely. Our waitress, Charlene was very courteous, efficient and a pleasure.
- Camilo (10/5): - NA
- Robert (2/5): - Unfortunately, this hotel is not represented accurately on the website. First impressions are everything. It was a disappointment when walking through the front doors. The environment was dark and it felt heavy. Although the room was clean, the smell of the room was terrible - very musty - like wet dog fur. It was probably why we found the door to our room left open due to the lingering smell after it was cleaned. The room was also very dark - small windows with little light. We did not stay for the breakfast as we had enough. Recommendations - if you allow animals - take out the carpets and put in flooring. Your building is very tired and is in desperate need of a makeover! We will not be back.
- Paul (8/5): - Could do with some refurbishment
- Mike (10/5): - Nice hotel! Our room was clean, large and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Check in amd check out was fast and easy! We'd definitely stay here again!
- Val (6/5): - Needs an upgrade.
- Ellen (6/5): - The reception person was quick and friendly. Very helpful with directions. Went to restaurant the first night and was turned away because did not have reservations and host was rude. Went into lounge for a drink and bite to eat, ordered and waited over 90 minutes and did not get our food. Left disappointed. Breakfast buffet was empty and asked for more and waitress was rude. Did finally get some hot items. Toast was burnt. Did not eat the second morning. Shower was hot however no maid service is staying two days. I would recommend checking other hotels if I was to stay in gander again
- Helena (8/5): - Good, clean hotel for a resonable price. Good breakfast. Easy convenient access from highway.
- Aaron (10/5): - Great service!
- Lisa (8/5): - The bed was extremely comfortable and good location with respect to conveniences, restaurants etc.
- Lucie (8/5): - Great restaurant
- Dawn (8/5): - This place wad fine but noisy
- Alison (8/5): - Close to airport and easy access to all
- Elisabeth (8/5): - Nothing
- DOUGLAS (10/5): - I did not like not having microwave oven.
- Laraine (8/5): - Good location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast, which we were not expecting.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Clean and conveniently located. Checkin was a bit slow with only one person working the desk on checkin. Even so they were accommodating and friendly.
- Sandra (4/5): - No Internet access for several hours. Breakfast buffet very unorganized. Server staff rude and abrupt
- Barbara (10/5): - The room was very clean, staff were very nice and helpful.
- Bryan (8/5): - Nice hotel, friendly staff, good location for shopping, breakfast was very good! Would recommend!
- David (2/5): - Smells like dog piss
- Alyson (10/5): - My friend and I stayed at Sinbads for one night as a stopping point between St. John’s and Gros Morne. The hotel was very clean and very accommodating for our pets… they even let us take our breakfast back to the hotel room so our dogs wouldn’t be alone! Parking was a little tight when we first arrived but other than that, all was good. I would definitely stay here again.
- O2247PUamandam (2/5): Not accessible. Terrible experience. - Terrible service. Booked a wheelchair accesible room for my Mom who is a paraplegic. My mom asked multiple times before booking the room that it would be accessible for a wheelchair user. When my parents got there after driving 4 hours, they found out it was not an accessible room. The one accessible room in the hotel was "already taken". My mom was not able to get inside the bedroom due to the width of the doorframe being too narrow and not enough turning radius for her wheelchair. They had to call maintenance to take the door off the hinges. Then the bed was higher than her wheelchair, making her transfer into the bed difficult and unsafe. It was in no way accesible. My parents were not compensated for their hotel room. They were given 20 dollars back which is a complete joke. This hotel has complete lack of knowledge for accessibility. Do not book here if you have mobility challenges.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Family Stay @ Gander - Spacious rooms, has all amenities. Good for family stay. A bit old decor
- Les (10/5): - The fish chowder was delicious. Breakfast too.
- Pierre (10/5): - Very good breakfast, clean well kept hotel
- Eric (6/5): - The location and property was okay but some of the hallway on the 3rd floor smelled bad. The room was clean and bed comfortable but some of the floor tile in the bathroom if our room had missing grout and was slightly loose. I spoke with staff on checkout and am hopefully they'll repair same
- Esther (2/5): - Checkin-people disinterested room on second floor way way to end of hall-right now I’m handicapped with bad knee wanting surgery-only other available room-pet room-2 busloads arrive-more interested in those clients morning, in a hurry need to drive 4 hours plus for boat ride at Westbrook Pond-lovely breakfast served to bus clients- no take out-not interested in helping?? Bus clients more important??
- Mike (6/5): - Breakfast wasn’t worth the long walk from our room to get there. They ran out of food on a weekend. Parking was inconvenient. Next time I’ll look to stay somewhere else
- Nancy (10/5): - Disappointed to hear I could have booked much cheaper directly thru hotel
- jerry (10/5): - Nice room.
- Sharon (6/5): - The property is old and run down. Could use some updating.
- George (10/5): - Our stay was great!
- Kathleen (6/5): - Staff were friendly. Nice restaurant . Good location. However hotel is very outdated. Could certainly use upgrades. Carpet in rooms looks very old. Beds not comfortable.
- Francine (10/5): - Excellent breakfast. The room waa very clean.
- Catherine (10/5): - I appreciated that it looked like the bathroom in our room was recently renovated
- Wilhelmina (6/5): - Staff were friendly. Place is a bit dingy
Our window view was wall of another building and when we returned to hotel around 10ish there was no parking for us. Probably wont book her again. But beds and place was clean.
- Orra (8/5): Sinbads - Room met our needs. Bed was to soft and pillows were hard as rocks. Breakfast was adequate.
- cassandra (8/5): - Good location. Nice breakfast
- Jackie (8/5): - Comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff and the Complimentary Breakfast was Great! Would stay here again
- Gerry (8/5): - Comfortable beds. Clean sheets. Quiet
- Judy (6/5): - Needs some TLC very dungy and outdated , carpets dirty , beds not comfortable , food ok but staff was good.
- Tracey (10/5): - Great Beds, air conditioner worked great.
Breakfast was delicious. Easy check out.
This was my second time at this hotel.
- Amanda (6/5): An adequate, reasonably priced but no frill stay - The hotel is adequate but needs updating. No smart TV in our room. Housekeeping every second day and I don’t think much cleaning took place. The bathtub/shower is difficult to get in and out of. Definitely needs a grab bar on the wall to help with exiting. The breakfast buffet was included and was very good. The front desk staff were nice but had no answers to any questions we asked about the area. The price was very reasonable and we booked because we couldn’t get into any other hotels of choice. So for the price this was good enough for a short stay.
- Carolyn (8/5): - Bed was comfortable, with many pillows, and room was clean.
The room, and the hotel itself, was a bit dated, but it was fine.
- Anne (8/5): - Nice, clean hotel room. Breakfast provided. Friendly staff.
- Loic (6/5): - odor in the room
- Wayne (6/5): Adequate, but old and weathered. - The room was adequate for one night, but it’s like walking into 1980. Everything is old and in need of renovating. It seemed clean, but with the age of everything, it doesn’t feel it. The beds were ok but well worn and in need of a new mattress. The breakfast buffet is typical hotel breakfast that you’d expect from a chain hotel.
- Debbie David (6/5): Hotel Very Dated, Staff Good. - The hotel is in need of updating, rooms smell musty and dingy. The breakfast was good, staff was good. The hotel desperately needs an update and refresh.
- Thomas (8/5): - Breakfast was included
- Carlene (8/5): - Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, decent free breakfast. Property is a bit dated and could use a freshen up, particularly the carpeting.
- Denise Tame (10/5): - I really like this hotel. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
The restaurant is very good with vegetarian and vegan options. The server was absolutely sweet as pie. Gander as you know hosted 38 planes and roughly 7000 people during the no fly situation after 9/11. They are living up to their friendly reputation. A must for your historical journey.
- Colette (6/5): - Bed clean and comfortable stairwells a little dirty and smelly. Fan didn’t work in bathroom. Over all clean room
- Kathleen (4/5): - The room was OK, had a car parked directly outside of the window. Room placement felt like it was an afterthought surrounded by laundry room, other staff rooms, storage rooms.
- Alwin (10/5): - Friendly staff, quick check -in or out, restaurant on-site, but lots of chain restaurants are nearby, if desired.
A complimentary breakfast gets your day started and major attractions are only 5-10 minutes' drive away.
- David (8/5): - The room was large. The complimentary breakfast was nice. I did not like the limited parking or workers right outside our window who could see into the room.
- Tom (10/5): - The staff at the hotel were very friendly & courteous,
- Li (10/5): - Very good
- Michelle (10/5): - Perfect for what my needs were.
- Amanda (6/5): - It was an ok hotel
Not much good to share
The lounge closed at 10
Front desk clerks asked me my name only . More interested in fixing another quests problems.
- Ken (8/5): - It was a nice overnight stay for us, property is a little dated but well maintained. The staff is very nice,I can recommend it even iif it wasn't an overnight stay.
- Teresa (4/5): - Hotel would benefit from renovations. Carpet throughout the hotel, especially in the hallways and in the room are old and dirty, drapes and furnishing in the room are dated and worn out. Bed was small. Bathroom sink was in a separate room. Felt offended that a pet friendly hotel insists that someone inspect the room during the check out process. Never had to wait at the counter while someone ran up to the room to look at it. Also ironic given the room was old and worn.
Lots of food/fast food options nearby as well as conveniences like a Shoppers Drug Mart and Canadian Tire.
- Dana (10/5): - Very clean, at check in we received an upgrade due to reserved room something was broken.. breakfast was good.. not much parking when hotel is fully booked
- mandy (6/5): - The property was old and needed some freshening up.
- violetp778 (10/5): Cozy and comfy! - Room very clean had 2 Queen size beds very comfortable and cozy. Big stand up shower. Continental buffet breakfast sausage bacon toast scrambled eggs fruit yogurt etc. delicious 😋 staff very welcoming and friendly! Would definitely book here again.
- Jeanien (6/5): - Highly over priced for a significantly run down property. The walls are thin and the noise coming from barking dogs and children resonated through the halls. It looks old and smells the same.
- Tracey (10/5): - Breakfast was delicious. My bed was like sleeping in a cloud. Staff friendly.
Fast check in. Location was great.
- John (6/5): - The outside of the property is run down and definitely needs some maintenance.
- Janet (6/5): - Staff were excellent, building and rooms are clean overall but however our room was very small, dated and had a foul odor and uncomfortable beds.
- Tracy (8/5): - Very nice quiet place.
- Christian (6/5): Ok stay but no more - Restaurant was good.
Room carpet was stained beyond acceptable.
AC unit boisy like no other
- Suzanne (6/5): - Continental breakfast was fine. A few gluten free options. Bed was comfortable but the hallway smelled like awful body odour and the chair in our room was dirty and worn out.
- Alexandra (8/5): - ..
- Eileen (6/5): - Overpriced for what you got. Room wasn’t ready on time.
- Michael (8/5): - Liked the staff. Bar
Tender stayed open fir us!
- Isabelle (10/5): - The large room leaves enough spaces for 4 people and luggage. Great breakfast!
- Elizabeth (6/5): - The hotel is dated and feels old
- Lynn (6/5): - Staff very pleasant. Bed comfortable. Very clean. A little too chilly., froze during breakfast. Couldn't open window in room for fresh air.
- Dawn (10/5): - Great staff. Very clean. But I hate carpet in hotels.
- Deborah (10/5): - Great room and the mystic restaurant was very good
- Kathryn (8/5): Overnight Stay - We had a very late/early morning arrival at the hotel. Check in was very efficient. We had a food box that needed to be kept in a freezer/cooler and they accommodated us with no issues. The decor of the hotel is "older" but has been kept up. The room was quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room was very clean. The buffet breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast. The staff were very attentive and efficient.
- Randolph (8/5): - Dated property could use some TLC.
- EMMA (10/5): - Very nice service and variable choices and delicious breakfast included.
