- Susan (5/5): - Great location I have stayed here several times over the years and it was always a great place to stay. Unfortunately on this visit the room was filthy. When I contacted the staff they were nice enough to move us to another room that was much better but it still wasn't clean. Dust and Spider webs everywhere and dark hairs on the bath towels. Then they actually called me Picky! Wow we will never stay there again.Too bad.
- Garry (6/5): Their communications are all about them & their needs, so we canceled - We did not actually stay at the hotel, because their post-booking messages were quite off-putting Did not stay - cancelled my booking with an $80 penalty because the several emails and text message they sent after our prepayment/reservation felt like communication from a tax auditor, DMV, or HR manager. All about how they want guests to clean up, their expense for housekeeping, make sure to do the dishes, and so on. Felt more like they looked upon me as an employee or vendor/subcontractor than a guest. Concern that guests treat a place nice is acceptable, to a point. But when about 2/3rds of the communications are about them their needs, their expectations, and an inference that guests should have empathy and understanding for their situation ... with only passing reference to your needs, wants, and expectations - well, for us, we found other, more customer-oriented facilities and took the loss on most of the prepayment for the reservation. Also, we book travel exclusively through Booking.com - we were sent a message from the hotel company through Booking's message system asking us to use another site if we want to book additional days. That felt very awkward and a bit shady. Booking.com has excellent customer service and takes very good care of our interests, and offering to extend a booking outside of their payment and reservation system would remove those benefits and protections.

- Patrick (4/5): Disappointing - Clean and nicely appointed with exceptions. - Very small room and bed took up most of it with no other furniture such a chair or table. - No place to store or hang clothes with neither a closet nor hooks in wall or on a door. That would be an easy fix. No option but to put your clothes back in a suitcase or lay on the floor. - Nice new bathroom but it took ages to get hot water. Such a waste of water doing that. - The bed side lights were 5 feet above the bed so one person could not read without disturbing the sleep of the other. Had to read using phone flash light. That’s annoying. - No tissue paper (Kleenex) in bathroom and the toilet paper was the cheap harsh kind. - Coffee was supplied but no other option such as tea. No creamer or milk either.
- James & Anna (10/5): Überraschend gut ausgestattet und eingerichtet - Wirklich sehr gut ausgestattetes Zimmer mit gesamter Küche, modernem Bad und überhaupt sehr stilvoll eingerichtet. Es gab eine Terrasse auf der wir Abends saßen. Die Straße am Hotel ist eine Durchgangsstraße, dennoch ist es im Zimmer nicht laut. Man hat tatsächlich mit niemandem vom Team Kontakt, da der Tür-Code via E-Mail versendet wird. Walker ist ruhig und war für uns eine Durchgangsstation. Wer hier herkommt sollte entweder Essen dabeihaben oder vorher gut planen, denn die Restaurants im Orte haben nicht immer offen.

I ordered a bottle online as soon as I got home. Poor placement of bunk bed in Room 11. Hit my head trying to get in to and out of the lower bed. No bedside table, No chair. No place to sit in the room.

- virginie (5/5): Déçus - Nous avons été surpris de ne pas trouver d'accueil et avons mis du temps à remarquer que nous avions un mail qui nous expliquait comment entrer dans la chambre (avec un code). Ce sont des clients qui nous ont aidés. La climatisation était à hauteur du lit double principal donc soit on coupait la clim soit on avait la clim en plein dans la tête! En ouvrant les lits nous ne sommes pas sûrs que les draps aient été changés donc on a pris sur nous et on s'est dit que ce n'était que pour une nuit mais on ne s'est pas senti bien malheureusement et nous avons dormi avec une serviette de toilette sur les oreillers. En revanche la salle de bain était très propre et spacieuse. De plus, heureusement que ce n'était que pour une nuit étape car nous n'avons pas trouvé comment fermer la porte de l'extérieur donc nous sommes partis et n'importe qui pouvait entrer dans la chambre après notre départ.

- James (10/5): - Recently remodeled interiors. The decor is chic with sliding bard doors and Spanish-inspired tiles. The amenities were modern, like a stainless steel kitchenette sink. The space offered exactly what you need for a pleasant stay. Check in was simple and clever, not requiring speaking with anyone at the front desk. Overall definitely exceeded my explications.

- Rick (6/5): There are other choices and I will choose one of those next year. - Location was good. Price comparable to other motels/hotels in area I needed some items for my room and because the front desk is permanently closed there was no staff member onsite at 7:30pm for another blanket. It was cold and my son needed one. The phone number on the front door was called and the woman said she'd try to contact a staff member to bring one. Regardless she said she'd follow up via phone or text to let me know status and I never was contacted. Being a mountain community I'd expect more to be honest. Place was clean and cute but I'd never stay again because when you need something you are out of luck. That is not what you want in a remote location.

Für nen Zwischenstopp auf nem Road-trip vollkommen ausre - Zeitweise waren einige Ameisen im Zimmer,vorallem auf den Betten. Draussen gab es nur einen Mülleimer der schon voll war,in den zwei Tagen/Nächten wurde der nicht geleert. Wenn man dann schon ein Ameisenproblem hat, wäre es gut den Mülleimer auch jeden Tag zu leeren.

Rooms looked nothing like in the listing. - The location was convenient The room didn’t look like on the pictures at all and lacked hygiene (dog hair on the bed, dust and dirt under the bed). There was no possibility to hang clothes, store bathroom items, the shower had no pressure and wires were hanging slowly around the room. All in all we were very happy to Leave. The location is also not staffed and you need to handle all complaints or questions with a call center.

- Steven (7/5): It met my needs. - I appreciated the lack of bright lights where I stayed. And, except for road noise, being at an end unit, it was quiet. I enjoyed my meals (dinner takeout plus my own b'fast at the table out front. The A/C unit, a window mount, was very loud, and it interrupted my sleep. I saw the unit had a heat pump unit, but it wasn't clear to me whether it is usable. I saw no staff the entire stay.
- Michele (4/5): Not worth the price! - I called ahead of time to ask questions and the person who answered the phone said, "I am not the manager anymore. This is not my problem." and hung up on me. There were three of us (husband, myself, and our daughter) - the room was teeny tiny. There was about two feet maybe between the door and the bed. The air conditioner was above the head of the bed, so it was blowing out air all night and kept me awake. There was a motion sensor light that kept going on all night outside which kept waking us up too. The only bedside table was a mini fridge with a microwave on top. There was no room for chairs and there were no chairs outside our room as promised. Room 11 is right next to highway 395 - like RIGHT OFF THE HIGHWAY - so large trucks came barreling down the highway and shook the room. The room had some dried up contacts on the bunk bed frame, the floor was sticky, and there were stains on the sheets. The bathroom had the biggest shower and had recently been redone, but it would have been better to have a smaller shower and more counter space. We never saw anyone working there. No one checked in on us. I knew it wasn't going to be "the Ritz", but I was disappointed in how incredibly tiny and bad our room was - especially for the price! - Tracey (3/5): I wish I could have gotten my money back and continued on to try my chances in the next town. - Location: great. Decor: very nice. Here we go: 1) parking was blocked in front of our unit by gravel heaps, and all other parking spaces was taken, so we hope where we made a spot was ok 2) ac unit hangs out of window with openings on either side, exposing us not just to cold outside air, but was also a safety concern. The bathroom window would also not close completely or lock. 3) we had no towels—when they were delivered the next morning, there was no acknowledgment of the other issues we reported on the voicemail (company #). 4) we couldn’t get the on wall climate instrument to work nor the heated floors, the latter of which sometimes displays a concerning error message about grounding. The only temperature control that worked was a movable space heater, which I didn’t feel comfortably leaving on all night. Since we had outside air coming through the window with the non-functioning ac, I was freezing all night long. 5) no one at either of the numbers on the check-in email answered our calls and the voicemail was full for the on-site number. At almost 11pm and in our pajamas, we were not going to go search around for the house where onsite management is. 6) $50 cleaning fee 7) there was an iron…but no hairdryer 8) the remodel choices were great (nice floors, light fixtures, bathroom), but functionality was very poor. For $210~ dollars, these deficiencies and a COMPLETE lack of acknowledgment made this an unacceptable stay. It made me feel like the reviews I read were fake.

- Dan (9/5): Very happy. - We have stayed here three times and choose it as our regular stop when traveling from Southern California into Oregon 3-4 x per year. We feel safe here - it is 'boutique-y" in style, clean, you can drive right up to your doorstep, and much nicer than your typical roadside motel. Thumbs up! One time we didn't have a trash can - but that was no biggie.
- Th3trav3ll3r (10/5): Perfect for a weekend getaway - Very well remodeled unit. Has a full kitchen with everything needed in great condition. Also had a nice grill on the patio. The Bathroom is also well stocked and the room was very clean. A bigger table in the room would have been nice, but we were able to use the patio. The stools for the dining table are a bit uncomfortable, having chairs would be better
- Kyler (7/5): Mostly comfortable, gorgeous, TV and fridge did not work - Very comfy bed, very nice bathroom, easy contactless check in! Beautiful surroundings TV did not work, refrigerator was not plugged in and smelled bad, more beds than I needed
- Marcin (6/5): Pleasant - Very well equipped kitchen and very nice bathroom but for the price which is definitely not low Dirty dishes, kitchen equipment, and the inside of the cupboards — everything was sticky and neglected. Noise from neighboring rooms was very noticeable, as all the rooms are connected and separated only by thin doors with large gaps.

- Jody (6/5): Pleasant - The amenities in the kitchen. The heating unit not working in our room. Moved to the room next door (we were the only ones there) and there were dirty towels left on the floor in the bathroom, with dry soap stuck to the sink, half used shampoo and body soap bottles left in the shower, there were dirty cardboard coffee cups left by the coffeemaker with new sugar/creamer stirrer packets in them. The bed was low to the ground and we hoped the sheets were changed. The bed was made up so they probably were. Also they did some repairs and left the screw holes. Those were not repaired. I did call to let them know and supposed to receive a call back the next day but that didn't happen. Hence this review. If you can drive the extra 30 minutes north to Gardnerville - stay there.
- Guido (5/5): Passable - Walker is a small town with few or none places of interests. There is only contactless communication for check in. We were put in a room that was not cleaned. After a textmessage to management, we got another room.

- Tiffany (9/5): Convenient, renovated, streamlined hotel experience perfect for travelers who needed a comfortable place to stay at the - Brand new renovated rooms with USB outlets near the bed, was nice and warm when we came in, had everything you would want in a hotel room (quiet, mini fridge, comfy bed, warm bedding, luggage rack, TV, soap/shampoo/conditioner, absorbent towels, hot water, decent water pressure, easy parking, convenient automated check in with info by text), and heated floor tile in the bathroom! Tiny amount of shampoo relative to 3x the amount of conditioner. Barely enough for the two of us. The refrigerator unfortunately froze some of the items we put in it even at full capacity.
- Chase (3/5): A beautiful but uninhabitable showroom with non-functioning essentials - looks great, doesn't work. - The bathroom was beautifully designed with heated floors (which became our warming station during the freezing night). The overall aesthetic is stunning in photos and in person - it truly looks like a perfect modern rental. Critical amenities were non-functional or missing: no working heat in freezing temperatures, kitchen utilities intentionally disconnected without notice, shower handle fell off during first use, and basic kitchen supplies missing. Despite this being an emergency booking during wildfire evacuation, management was unresponsive and later made false claims about attempted contact. When issues were raised, they offered an inadequate 10% refund and denied documented problems.

- Daniel (9/5): Perfect stopping point for us on a 395 road trip. Gorgeous area. Super BBQ place across the street. - Beautifully renovated rooms. Clean. Charming. Nice touches like warm/cool lighted mirrors, sliding barn doors, tiled walk in showers and nicely tiled and vinyl flooring making you feel like things were cleaner. Bed was too firm for our liking - but bed comfort preferences varies from person to person.
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant - Staff was very friendly and helpful with local (Walker, CA) intel. We (friend and myself) went to fish for trout on the West Walker River and the Historic West Walker Motel was in perfect proximity. They didn't perform daily cleaning of our room and there wasn't an ice machine. Granted, I haven't stayed in a Motel in many many moons; +20 years, so these missing items might be the norm these days. As I now primarily stay in Hotels, the indicated dislikes are common. Wasn't a "show stopper", but for the price, it would have been nice to have a clean room to return to and complimentary ice.

- Dave (6/5): Interior decor great, not a very interesting town to visit, sadly boring place. - The room was very nice and clean and new condition, bed comfortable, nice bathroom and shower., pretty quiet. Hot water for shower was luke warm and the weather was 30 degrees and cold outside (only 3 room occupied so didn’t think they ran out of hot water?) Seemed like thermostat is set low because it didn’t run out. The code lock is awful the numbers buttons are not lit and very small and impossible to see in the dark but not a big deal breaker had to use my cell phone flashlight but inconvenient when your carrying your luggage. I don’t think anyone was there if I needed help, like the hot water or if the door lock battery was dead or dysfunctional. This happened to me before at another stay and it took the site manager two hours before I heard back from them I was stuck out of my room. This is a new thing now no on site personal, self check in and door codes. Good luck if something isn’t right. I’m pretty sure I saw the onsite family leave at 5 pm Friday night and never returned. The stay where I was locked out they were not there either had to leave a message. Way too many emails sent to me.
- Alan (8/5): An old remodeled 1940s Motor Court. Overall, a good stay. - Overall, the room was small, but spotless. The only light in the room was provided by two lamps, but they provided more than enough light. There was also an electric radiator for heat. Plenty of blankets to keep warm, and there was also several USB plugs for my gear. There was also a fridge and a microwave. Check out time was 10 AM, but I texted the owners, and they gave me an 11 AM check out. There is an excellent barbecue place right across the street from the motel. It’s cash only, but they have an ATM, and the food is worth eating there. While , the electric radiator was nice, there was only one place to plug it in, on one side of the room. So it didn’t provide as much heat as it could have. Fortunately, the place to plug it in, was right next to one of the beds. That kept me warm. The TV had a decent sized screen, but there was no remote. I could have texted the owners, and they would’ve gotten back to me, I’m sure, but I had iPads, so I was fine. The bed was a little bit firm for my personal taste, but I know that’s everybody’s tastes are different.
- Sarah (9/5): I would stay there again. - Very clean , updated and easy . Could park right in front and bring suitcase in . Could use a tv guide . Had a bit of trouble with the TV service which the management fixed but then found it difficult to find what was available - spent time searching .

This time when we got there the first thing I noticed was the smell of the room, it was awful. Then the bed wasn’t made and not one towel. But, the smell was coming from the bathroom trash which was filled with feminine products. The staff was very pleasant and moved us to a different room quickly. But we probably won’t come again because the cleanliness of both rooms just was not ok. See above
- Martin (7/5): Good stopover - Room was smallish, but comfortable, with a very nice bathroom attached. Everything clean and smart. No noticeable noise from the road. Good instructions via email for self check in. Check in early if you want to eat locally. Beautiful but very quiet area. Goes to bed as the sun goes down. Although comfortable, the King bed was too big for the room, taking up most of the floorspace, leaving no space for a chair, or moving about. Maybe some tea options, creamer to go with the coffee first thing?

- Misha0815 (8/5): Cute and with Charme - The rooms are newly renovated and with an individual touch. The whole place was cozy and has a charming retro-chic with attention to detail. Definitely not the usual Motel layout. The sliding door to the bathroom is less suitable for privacy.

- Bruce (5/5): Just ok. - Clean and huge bathroom shower:) No hangers/shelf to hang any clothes on at all. The front entry door was hard to lock and unlock because the door wasn't aligned properly with the latch. We asked staff to help and they were good about that. The bed was to stiff for me. The stiffest bed I have ever been on in a hotel. Also, the walls are very thin and we could here the neighbors talk a lot. No soundproofing:(:( The WIFI is the weakest I have ever experienced in a hotel.:(:(

- Cristi (9/5): Good option - This property came as a surprise for us, we were expecting a simple roadside motel and nothing more. This place seems to be old but everything inside is modern and in very good condition, including the bathroom. There is some outdoor furniture so guests can spend time outside before going to bed. There is no ice machine here, the reception was closed in the evening when we arrived and also in the morning, although we left after 9am. We found no staff at this place, we checked in with the codes they sent.

- Sara (9/5): Excellent stay for our road trip :) - We stayed for one night on our road trip. The room looked very pretty and the beds were super comfortable. The bathroom had a huge shower and was very clean (just like the rest of the room of course). The check-in was super simple. It was a great stay that I can 100% recommend. The only thing that I didn’t quite like was that the towels smelled kind of… weird? But I‘m sure they were clean.

- Stephan (8/5): Very good - Nicely renovated property, although the rooms were quite small. But the shower stall was huge and the bathroom great. Towels were fabulous. The Wi-Fi however was very bad. Something you might expect in a developing nation but not the USA. And since the TV was streamed content, it needed to buffer all the time. The owners and staff are trying hard. But the Wi-Fi needs a serious upgrade before the property is overall appealing.

- Sharon (8/5): Nicely remodeled place and centrally located & good parking - You can tell that there has been substantial capital investment into this mid-century classic motel along side Hwy 395. The original neon sign was cool (but not working). The kitchen unit with a king size bed, nicely & recently remodeled was very nice, but too bad there's a 'gap' in cleaning staff as unless it gets maintained and cleaned 'better' it will deteriorate rapidly. Just a lack of attention to detail by maintenance and cleaning staff. Nothing real terrible to us: food residue in microwave, no water cups (there are 2 nice stemmed wine glasses, 2 coffee mugs, and eating utensils), BBQ fairly filthy, no soap of any kind anywhere (hand, or liquid) just dishwasher pods. No coffee filters (but one coffee packet). Fridge had food residue. BUT there was a nice TV, excellent Mini Split air conditioning/heating wall unit, comfy foam style bed, luggage rack, clothes closet with hangars, nice kitchen (gas) range/oven, nice size fridge, fairly new front porch with table & padded benches. Overall a nice place. Just needs 3 interior lights changed and someone with a discerning eye for cleanliness. Right across the street from an excellent BBQ restaurant. We'd definitely stay here again. A few cleanliness issues. No soap. 3 overhead lights out, but not so bad that we couldn't see. There were plenty others.
