Guest Reviews
- Dominic (8/5): A piece of history - We were on a cross-country road trip and needed a place to sleep for a night. The property is old, but fun and full of nostalgia. The rooms were clean as were the linens. Great if you like a vintage motel, but not if you're looking for a 4-star experience.
- David (4/5): - Sign on front door said it was closed and it was only 7 pm. Trying to find desk clerk took several minutes. No TV. Toilet wouldn’t flush and had to go to front desk to get a plunger. Desk clerk was nice and cooperative. Comfortable bed. Ancient decor. We saw only one other car parked at building—thought perhaps we were the sole occupants. However, multiple beds were being cleaned when we checked out.
- Robbyn (8/5): Low price and basics - If you are looking for a place to simply get a good night's rest and don't care about a pool or workout space, etc this is a great place as the price is very reasonable. Mike, who greeted me was friendly and helpful.
- Michael (10/5): - Great rooms and friendly staff!
- Brenda (10/5): - Cute place and the artwork is amazing both inside and out. Room was dark and we had a problem with the tv but it was fixed, pillows are uncomfortable but otherwise it was a good stay for an overnight trip
- John (8/5): - Quite place to sleep.
- Christine (10/5): - We liked the traditional western atmosphere. Although the facilities were dated, it was clean, quiet and comfortable. We had a pleasant stay.
- Nancy (8/5): Enjoyed my stay - Bathroom was a little dated, but clean, bed was super comfortable, decor was really cool, and service was exceptional and friendly!
- jacquelyn (10/5): - Old school type place, really works for me. Front desk is literally a desk, really nice folks.
- Mike (10/5): - Great
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mom-and-pop local motel - A wonderfully friendly couple run this motel.
The property itself is very old and it shows, but it’s acceptable, and I love not staying at a chain but an independent mom-and-pop motel.
- Donald (10/5): Great price for a super clean room - Room was super clean and comfortable. Location was great, price was great. Bed was very comfortable.
- Michael (8/5): - I liked to decore
- KEVIN (8/5): - This is a terrific deal, the best price in town for a clean, quiet room. The staff is very friendly and always stay there when I come to Rawlins for business or meetings.
- Pam (8/5): - Just right for overnight stay. Wonderful staff/owners. Covered all the bases. Thanks
- Ron (4/5): - It has a charming Western theme going and the staff was super kind and personal but the facility doesn’t look like it has been updated since the 70s.
- Carol (8/5): - Lodge has seen better days, but room was clean, linens nice and bed comfortable.
- Thomas Paul (8/5): - The hosts were nice and the decor was a bit dated, but everthing was clean. The bathroom ceiling was cracking. Overall it was a good stay and i'd stay there again.
- Karen (2/5): Terrible communication - I tried calling because I had booked the wrong city ( confusion), tried calling, couldn't leave a message, no one answered
And the phone number covered several properties
Told to leave a message, but the mail box was full. Tried messaging, but no response
- Charles (2/5): - The beds were doubles instead of queens. The rooms were old with worn carpet. The bathroom had rusty fixtures, moldy floors, not enough plugs. There were signs of water damage. The room smelled of mold. We won’t stay there again, and would not recommend it.
- Nusrat (10/5): - A nice place to stay. We were on a road trip and came across to this lodge for a night stay. Loved the place and service so much. While going back we ll definitely stay here again.
- Karen (10/5): - Very welcoming staff. Snacks and coffee/tea available in the foyer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy - Great place highly recommended
- Nancy (10/5): - Manager was friendly, bed is comfortable, and the room is affordable
- Atalanda (10/5): - Great stay, got lots of rest. Thanks!
- Joseph (2/5): - Like western theme. However, this is a tired old building that needs to be put out of it's misery.
- audrey (10/5): - Super nice, authentic place to stay! Mike is a welcoming friendly host. Best stay in rawlins❤️
- Hannah (8/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are very basic. Overall clean.
- Denise R. (4/5): - I was most thankful when I saw the Bible and also the Book Of Mormon!
- Donald (4/5): - Clean it up and put some money back into the rooms . Bathroom walls need redone by shower and floors. The carpet was disgusting.
- Chiara (4/5): - Faucet was broken, minimal hot water, many carpet stains, linoleum was buckling, and overall falling apart. The only nice thing was the linens smelled clean. Would not stay here again.
- Cindy (6/5): - If you like a vintage hotel, this one is for you. Formica countertops, old toilet, sagging overstuffed chair. The owner is pleasant and the western art on the walls is fascinating but the hotel is very tired and in need of updating…unless you love hotels from the 60’s
- T R (8/5): History revisited - We thoroughly enjoy this place. We schedule to stay here annually
- Jeanne (10/5): - So unique! Softest sheets so ever slept in!
- Kurt (8/5): - It like old western type of hotel. Def could be updated but some of the uniqueness comes from its rugged look. Deer horn door handle, saddle on horse post, few old western wagons on property. Front staff super nice. Just interesting, carpet, painting remodeling def past due. But was quiet, comfortable and everything i needed for 12 hr stay for sleep shower and such.
- Kristina (10/5): Welcoming and comfortable! - The beds were the most comfortable and had the softest sheets of any of the hotels we stayed in the whole 2 week trip. I love good Wyoming hospitality! We weren't going to get in until after the office closed so Dave left us a key and instructions. Very western themed with a variety of western art lining the hallway. This is one of our go to hotels when traveling.
- Lona (8/5): - The staff was very polite and friendly. The bed was wonderful. The only complaint was the carpeting was stained and should be replaced.
- Nicole (2/5): - I am not sure how or why this has such a high review rate. Dirty and nasty
- robert (2/5): - This place needed updating 20 years ago. Worst place i ever stayed.
- nathan (10/5): - The staff was friendly I really love the look of the place old western look,
- Robert (8/5): - Friendly staff.
- suzanne (8/5): - We have struggled lately to find a reasonably priced hotel for 1 night as we travel. We want 4 things: safe, clean, comfortable bed and decent shower. After staying at several mid-priced national chains with horrible unsafe conditions we decided to give this one a try. It is dated but check in eas easy, the room was clean with a very comfortable bed and bedding and towels were thick and large. They don't have breakfast but since Covid, what many hotels consider "breakfast" consists of a prepackaged muffin or granola bar and a piece of fruit so we don't consider that a perk anymore. This was perfect for our 1 night as we traveled through Rawlins.
- Sushanta (6/5): - It was one night stay for us, a quick stop. The hotel is very old. The room had very old carpet, the bathroom fixtures and basins were very old and not maintained. I had doubts about the cleanliness but everything looked so old so I was not sure, if it was the look or the cleanliness. Overall it was a not a good experience, it needs lot of upgrades. The only nice thing was the bed. We just went along with our booking but will not come back here again. The location is good with stores and restaurants nearby.
- John (2/5): - People were nice. Property was clean but run down. Shower didn't work and hot water was lukewarm.
- Robert (10/5): - Very comfortable room and friendly host.
- Michael (4/5): - Filthy smelly place.Needs lots of upgrades.
- David (8/5): - Bed was comfortable and shower had a lot of water. The motel has a nice character with all the western art - paintings, sculpture. I'd go back.
- Ann (2/5): - I arrived to the office at 11:15pm. There was a note taped to the door saying the office was closed until 4am. No call or notification. After many calls there was one hotel left in Rawlins with a vacancy. Several of the hotels I spoke with said this place has a history of doing this. It happens probably 2-3 times a month.
- Heather (8/5): - This is very good value for economy accomodation. We were warmly welcomed, the room was clean & a decent size, the bed very comfortable & the bathroom spacious. The decor is western & well done.
- Michael (10/5): Good find traveling through Rawlins - The Lodge was very clean and comfortable. Good A/C with fridge and microwave.
- Joleen (2/5): - Building has deteriorated beyond repair. Bathrooms obsolete. Abandoned buildings next door. No staff after 10 pm for safety. Trains running all night behind building. Not handicap accessible to get in front door. However, the check-in person was nice and the bed was new and comfortable.
- Deanna (4/5): - The guy at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The rooms were not even close to what they advertised on line. Desperately needed to be updated. The beds were comfortable.
- Cheryl (10/5): Check It Out For A Real Wyoming Experience - Clean and comfortable hotel. Great Price! We were happy with the authentic Wyoming western theme interior decorations and it's central location. It was a super deal for a good night's sleep. The front desk is managed by Mike, who I'm guessing is the owner since he puts his heart and sole into the business. Note: It gets very windy in the afternoons so hold onto your car door if you pull in the afternoon and know it's totally worth it to check this hotel out for it's outdoor rustic and artistic wood statues of a horse, a buffalo and more. The guest rooms have a small refrigerator and microwave, plus comfy bed and pillows, chair, private bathroom, etc. Most importantly is it is QUIET. The lobby has really good coffee in the morning. We would stay here again. Thank you for providing this place for travelers!
- Holly (10/5): - I think this is a labor of love. It was a very pleasant place to stay at a very reasonable cost.
- Damon (6/5): - Floors creaking was the worst
- David (8/5): - An older building, but it is well-maintained and they keep it clean. Fun decor and friendly staff.
- Brian (8/5): - Very nice bedding and towels, check in was nice and easy with a very pleasant host.
- Peg (8/5): - Great spot to stay in Rawlins - the owner was wonderful - made our visit fantastic. Charming family owned spot with great mattresses & pillows, super clean bathroom with new linens. Comfortable place at a reasonable price ! Support local businesses & stay here
- Patricia (10/5): Great lil gem, will stop there again. - Convenient access from the interstate, the check in and check out was easy.
My grandson loved the shower, the rooms we very clean. Just right for a traveling through night.
- Judith (8/5): - Loved western theme throughout and wood sculptures in front.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Older motel, good value - We really like this small, older motel. It has a lot of character, but is showing it’s age. For a one-night stay, it is a good place to stay for the money. Just don’t expect many extras, or a 5-star experience.
- Bryan (6/5): Rough.. - Pretty old and run down honestly. The "lobby" and bottom floor smelled like fresh tar, however the room did not. While the room was clean, like the motel, it needs updating badly. I believe you could have had the same experience in 1970 as in 2022. I never could get hit water to run out of any faucet and the toilet needed to be flushed twice at a minimum for any job.
- Allison (6/5): - Room was clean, bed was comfortable, staff was friendly. Building was very tired and in need of maintenance.
- Tim (10/5): - Love this place! Lots of character and the manager was super nice. Recommend!
- Jenae (8/5): - The property has a great kitschy western vibe and Mike is delightful. The bedding and bath linens were clean. We booked two rooms - one slightly more updated than the other. Furnishings are modest and the flooring is worn. Great morning coffee! Definitely not a place for everyone but a nice place to stop for a cozy bed, hot shower and friendly service.
- Nancy (4/5): - When booked online it stated pet friendly. When I checked in he said no pets allowed. Also stated no smoking place. He ended up giving me a room. The room was in bad need of repairs. It stank of cigarettes.
- Thomas (4/5): - Threadbare carpet. Goodwill rejected furniture but it is clean.
Difficult to enter building with steps and single door.
Helpful friendly management
- Michelle (10/5): - Overall Our stay here was good. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It didn’t smell like it had been over disinfected or anything like that. The man who checked us in was very nice and courteous. It does back up to a train yard. So you do hear the train throughout the night. The grounds could use a little sprucing up. But I do have to say that this Lodge is a survivor. As we drove through town many of the old motels and places to stay have gone out of business and this lodge has done a great job staying afloat and a hard economy
- Deborah (8/5): - Our second stay here. Love the Western theme
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet, but hard to find in the dark - I had a hard time finding this hotel as some of the sign lights were not operating.
Quiet stay, bed was so-so, but the price was right!
- Stephanie (8/5): - I am a cowgirl at heart so I am always drawn to this place. The pictures throughout are beautiful. It is easy access to the interstate and surrounding Resteraunts, gas and Walmart. The property itself is showing its age. The bathrooms are ehh , carpet so so, but the bed is still the most comfortable for a great night sleep and the price is still reasonable.
- Deborah (10/5): - Loved the western-style overall and the corral out front. The Old West art collection lining the walls was my favorite. Not a sterile chain motel, we were comfortable in the space and enjoyed chatting with the proprietor. We will be back.
- Scott (10/5): - Unique, pleasant.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Warm and friendly atmosphere. No amenities but we knew that when booking. Very friendly and helpful owner. Downtown is a short distance with fun opportunities to explore. Will return if ever back through here.
- Katherine (10/5): - It was nice to have such a warm greeting when we arrived, thank you Mike😊👍
The rooms are very clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We’d stay here again if in the area.
- Kraig (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Cool artwork throughout the motel.
- George (10/5): What's not to like? - Not fancy but no check-in hassles, comfy room and bed, and everything works!
- Matthew (10/5): Needed a quiet night, this place delivered. - Deer hunt trip in Medicine Bow. Staff very friendly. Reserved King bed online and got a King bed (surprising bc other big-name/4-star chains reserved online change us to 2 queen beds upon check-in). Quiet. Close to Walmart & City Market & freeway.
Very basic & simple. No alarm clock or phone. Keurig coffee & snacks in front.
- John (6/5): - The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. very basic. The back door of the motel needs to be locked.
- gary (6/5): - the tv remote did not work well enough to watch tv. when i brought it to the desk, he just gave me different batteries, but it still didn't work, so i couldn't watch tv. he never checked to see if it worked.
- Pamela (10/5): - Familiar staff, friendly
- Win (10/5): Loved it! - Couldn't be nicer host doing more than anyone should. Does a great job. Lots on authentic antiques and rustics surroundings. For an older facility, it has been renovated well but still keeping the old rustic western feeling. Would stay there anytime I'm in the area,.
- Sheana jo (4/5): - I feel like i need a shirt that says "i survived rawlins western lodge" ..... i thought the reviews were going to lead me to greatness but it was the exact opposite. I guess depends on how high your standards are! I guess mine are too high for this place. It was clean...but it was so old and definitely had mold in the rooms, woke up sneezing... just spend the extra money and stay somewhere else! The surrounding restraurants had a ton of employees on drugs as well. I would not stay in rawlins again.
- Christopher (8/5): - Nice, old-style western hotel. Lots of character. No frills. Comfortable beds.
- Sherry (6/5): - Advertised as pet friendly but there is no where on property to walk a dog. All cement and scrub. We had to cross a busy 4 lane road to find any kind of grass for our dog. Property was fairly clean overall but very dated and has seen some hard use. The man who helped us a check in was very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't stay here again if I was traveling with a dog.
- Mary (10/5): - Great service - great host.
- julie (6/5): - Owner had left for labor day, sign on desk stated return at 4pm. Phone number on desk with no area code so didn't work but at 4 lady there and we checked in. Cool driftwood sculptures out front. Bed comfortable. Needs update, old washer left in hall. No breakfast and all but fast food joints in town closed for labor day inc coffee shops so fast food dinner. Train ran behind room, hubby loved that and in am, doe with twins wandering outside. Good for quick overnoc stop but overpriced.
- Bethel (6/5): - About as expected - the staff is great. Smoke free. Clean enough, but outdated and with some residue and buildup in the shower/corners. I'd stay again, but just as a place to sleep.
- Kathy S (8/5): - An older motel with signs of age but beds were comfortable and the unit was clean. Good value!
- Sharon (10/5): Give it a try. - Very quaint themed hotel. Not the newest, not the cleanest (but clean where it mattered) but a very unique place to stay for a night. The owner who does everything was very nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Much older property with vintage furnishings and decor. Beds very comfortable, very quiet, staff friendly. Bathroom definitely could use an update. Overall decent stay for us to recharge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Older property but well maintained and clean. Good value for the money for Rawlins. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very unique motel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was surprised at how expensive motel rooms in Rawlins were, so I took a chance on a local. It had the essentials: clean, thick towels, fresh smelling shower curtain, comfortable bed, plenty of room for suitcases, no bugs, microwave and fridge in the room. The A/C worked well and was fairly quiet. There was no breakfast in the morning, but a Keurig and basket of granola bars were available in the lobby. On the flip side, It was very dated, dingy and worn. A gust front came through as we were checking in, and the parking lot was literally littered with shingles that blew off the roof. The hallway and room had poor light, the room's carpet was vacuumed but had seen many years of use. The dressers were 1970s vintage, along with the formica counter and tiled tub in the bathroom. It was completely adequate for an overnight stay, but the ambience left something to be desired.
- Paul (8/5): Worked good for me. - Property is older but reasonably maintained, in the opinion an older man who does not care about bling and understands costs of renovations. Bedding had slight smell of clorox and bathroom smelled of cleaner, which gave me comfort in this covid era. Overall it was reasonably priced and worked well for me in my situation of a vehicle breakdown delaying my travel. Wifi was adequate to get some remote work done from my laptop computer.
- Brieanna (10/5): Great stay! - Great stay! Clean, nice looking rooms and very friendly staff!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Could have been better
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Mike, the owner, was very accommodating. Came right away to help with TV problems. Offered to help carry our luggage in when I asked about a luggage cart, (there is none). In fact, there are basically no amenities except free coffee. Mike was helpful in suggesting a nice walk and a good restaurant. However, there were sunflower seed hulls under the bed and a bit of leftover soap in the shower, which was difficult to operate to find hot water, but I eventually did. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean. This was a good buy for a short overnight stay and the decor theme quaint. It's an old and somewhat shopworn motel, don't stay here if you want new, sparkling facilities with lots of amenities. Do stay if you like funky places and supporting a local business.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very unique and comfortable western theme stay. Nothing modern but very cool.
