Guest Reviews
Personnel non professionnel, gentil quand on demandait quelque chose.
- Amanda (9/5): A lovely place to stay - Wonderful stay. Classic. Great beds, friendly staff, lovely area. All good
- Kiefer-Heydenreich (9/5): -
- Wolfgang (9/5): - Ein sehr nettes, persönliches Hotel mit tollen Gastgebern. Die Einrichtung ist sehr stilvoll und schön. Öffentliche Parkplätze in unmittelbarer Nähe.
Typique ! La gentillesse de l’hôte ! Pas de petit déjeuner !
- Dave (9/5): Great value and very cool. Loved the games room in the cellar. - A little gem, surpassed our expectations.
Could do with a little bit of tlc outside but still a nice sun trap to enjoy the pool.
Inside is fabulous, nice decor and attentive staff.
A quiet little town but was just what we were after. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
- Rudolf (10/5): -
- Lee (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Laetitiabooking (8/5): -
- orlanda (10/5): A voltar -
- Rosa (10/5): -

- Rut (2/5): Glorious building, bad case of black mold - the staff was very responsive and did everything they could to assist, I felt they were really accommodating considering the situation and the status of the property. The property is located by a busy street but oh what a glorious building, furniture and rooms, high ceilings and looks wonderful. oh the black mold, it was everywhere in the rooms 🥺 We had ordered the 2 bedroom suite and it looked absolutely glorious but the ceilings were black with mold and you could almost taste it in the air, we were able to change to a twin room but there was also some mold by the windows, the personnel came to clean it with strong cleaning solution and we slept with the balcony doors open. The beds were really hard and with the street noise (open balcony doors) we did not sleep well. I wish the owners would fix the roof and windows (probably all original from when it was built) and I would stay there again if they would do so ❤️ I hate to give the property a bad review but people can get seriously sick in current situation (and the staff as well)
- Tamires (10/5): Amazing charming place - Charming, unique, and visually breathtaking — stay in castle-like architecture and incredible service 🤩 Nothing
- Rui (8/5): -
- Gonçalo (8/5): Great but needs maintenance - Lovely charm hotel. Needs serious update and maintenance works!

- kay (10/5): If staying in Estoi. Choose the Casa de Estoi! - Such a charming hotel. Very traditional Portuguese style with very comfortable and stylish antique furniture in communal areas.
Lots of private sitting areas to enjoy your coffee!
Pool and area very relaxing and well equipped with seating/loungers.
Location perfect - situated by the town square. Easy walking distance to bars and restaurants. There's a restaurant with an outdoor terrace nearby that was excellent.
- Paul Justice (6/5): -
- Montserrat (7/5): -
- MESSINA (5/5): Passez votre chemin.

- Tracey (9/5): A wonderful small hotel in the heart of Estoi village with traditional charm and a friendly welcome. - Beautifully presented hotel with traditional interesting furniture pieces that complemented the property. Situated in the centre of the village, close to local amenities and access to the A22 which runs along the whole Algarve. Josè was available if needed but encouraged us to use the hotel with freedom and without being intrusive. The bed was very firm for our liking. Something we have found across Portugal. Maybe a mattress topper would resolve this for people who prefer medium to firm support.
- Gill (4/5): Seemed like the owners were running the place into the ground. Wouldn’t recommend or go back. - It was very clean. It’s a beautiful old building. No facilities: no breakfast, no WiFi, only 4 sunbeds (of which one was broken), lock was broken on door to pool (reported but nothing done about it). Room wasn’t cleaned one day. Fridge shelves rusty. Cockroaches in the wardrobes.
- Patrizia (9/5): -
- Guest (10/5): Fantastic location, easy to access and the owners are so lovely - The location and the owners are so kind and friendly Nothing it’s the best place to stay
- Kim (9/5): Stayed here 4 times and will stay again - The property itself is beautiful and traditional . Location is great if you enjoy the quiet traditional Portuguese life which we do. Need new sunbeds and to put fridge in each room.
- Melo (8/5): Beautiful Manor house - Nice little village with Roman ruins. Beautiful manor house with spacious rooms and our room had 2 bathrooms! Never really saw anyone working there except at check in. We didn't utilize the breakfast. Lots of stairs in the place, would not be good for anyone with mobility issues
- Anonymous (8/5): Had a great time - Location right in the center of Estoi was great and not at all noisy. Accommodation was very quiet, I didn't see any other guests or staff except when I checked in. Bathroom floor could have been a little cleaner ,but this was only a very minor thing
- Hugo (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (5/5): Poor - Location near my family My room was not cleaned for the duration of my stay. The bathroom was dated and was not a good experience. The shower rail fell down and was not mended.
Will not go back
- Anonymous (6/5): Small, beautiful room with lovely view of blooming blue trees in court. - Loved the rooms character . Bright Large windows. Bathtub and bathroom Noisy street outside room.Intersection at entrance, dangerous. Parking not at hotel, but down the street.
- Johann (7/5): Good - A arquitetura do sitio O calor dentro da suite
- Gaynor (8/5): Very good - It's elegance Getting in to hotel perhaps akeysafe would be a better idea plus steps upto front door due to licatiinabit trucky on busy corner for cars passing car park 3mins away
- Gary (8/5): Nice hotel in Estoi - Good sized room, nice central location. Very nice features in the hotel. A large outside area with pool. The rooms could do with a little updating
- Lynda (7/5): Got character but looking tired - Didn’t use the pool but there was a pool area .
19 century house so had character and situated in a place where it’s easy to park and walk around Looking a bit worn
No drinks/ refreshments available
Staff good when you found them .
Same Milk left in gravy boat not in fridge for x2 days
Water not replenished
- Marilyn (10/5): A peaceful village and a lovely house. Just what we needed. - Room lovely, pool small. House beautiful
- Hannah (9/5): Great value for money, cozy family style stay - The pool area is very nice and the staff were very helpful. There is AC in the rooms.
- Dewi (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): Fabulous ! - We didn’t have the breakfast however it was available
The residence was beautiful , quite location with a couple of excellent cafes/ bars with delicious food at excellent r prices - bus route to other places and only 1-10 euros for a taxi to anywhere in Faro
Roman ruins , palace de Estoi gardens , horse ranch locally
Really friendly people , supermarket selling everything you’d need only 100m away
Very beautiful old Portuguese village Nothing
- Stillman (6/5): Casa de Estoi, a pleasant place to stay when flying in or out of Faro airport. - The lodging is in what I would guess to be a mid-nineteens century townhouse directly in the center of Estoi, a pleasant town in the hills a short distance (about 12miles) from the airport at Faro. It sits on a hillside in the center of the village opposite the local church. Guest rooms are well furnished with comfortable chairs and sofa, the beds and bedding are good quality and comfortable. cable TV, coffee-tea makers. In pleasant weather and expansive patio with lounge furnishings and a pool are available to guests. Breakfast is available at a stated price. Across from the Inn there is a fine cafe with outdoor tables that serves croissants and like things for breakfast. A good alternative to cookie cutter hotels near faro Airport at a lower price than the Pousada. The rooms are all reached via a grand stairway that might be difficult for persons with limited mobility. The entry from the street is a three-tiered series of granite stairs that unfortunately narrow in front of the entry door making the entry difficult for older persons. Street noise on weekend nights can be annoying.
- Alec (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): Very comfortable and relaxing - The building is beautifully restored with a lovely outdoor are and pool(we only stayed one night and left for airport early so did not swim but it looked lovely) the decor is classic genteel Portuguese turn of the century - very light and airy.
There is a bar area and staff were very attentive and helpful . Parking is off site in the village.
- Deepak (9/5): Little gem of a hotel in a little gem of a village - Clean and traditional furniture well kept Heating and internet archaic
- Hilary (8/5): Our stay was very good value for money in this charming accommodation with a lovely host. - The accommodation was located in a pleasant part of town, with the main church directly opposite, with attractive steps leading down into a square with a cafe. Inside the property, the accommodation was well maintained in a traditional style, with lovely decorative objects. The room was very comfortable & stylish in a traditional way, with shutters at the window and the ensuite bathroom had a super powerful shower. As it was February, the room could be cold at night, but there was an effective heater/air con unit in the bedroom & heater in the bathroom. The host was very friendly & helpful, enhancing our stay. The pool was not set up for use, but as it was February, this was not a problem. We loved visiting the Palace in this town & Roman ruins.
- Deepak (10/5): Little gem in the Algarve in a super located historic village called Estoi - Super heritage family home converted to an item with period furniture and look n feel. Staff was great specially Juse who was always there to help . Location was fantastic and place spotlessly clean . Internet could be better
- Bjtraveller (9/5): Superb - Hotel in a lovely, old Portuguese house. Very central in town. Decorated for Christmas. Room was large and comfortable. Good size patio. Very clean in all areas. Tea and coffee in room. No lift but stated in description, so not unexpected.
- Jolley (7/5): Ok for a short stay - Friendly staff, good location A little outdated and needs more attention to maintainence in the bathroom, no breakfast available
- Edward (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely stay - Perfect
Clean
Everything you would need and more Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - The room and hotel was charming and very clean. We loved the location.
- Solveig (8/5): A special place with good atmosphere. - A special place with good atmosphere.
- Marie (8/5): Very good - The house is very typical, you can feel that they are trying to keep it authentic, it still needs some small adjustments but overall it is very nice :) The apartment could have been a bit more clean (floor, glasses...) and the mattress of the single bed may be renewed
- Isabel (10/5): Beautiful, old-school hotel with beautiful and clean rooms, excellent location. One wants to spend time in the hotel its - The location is excellent: looking onto the church square. The rooms are comfortable, nicely decorated; it feels like being in a proper old school hotel, where you feel like every room is unique and you want to spend time in it (love that there’s only a small TV, for instance). The same goes for the house itself - the living room is cozy and invites to spend time there. The pool area is beautiful as well, with a view on the church tower. Perhaps some more plants or flowers would be good, but that’s just an extra. Everything was super clean, and staff was very friendly and welcoming.
- Sabrina (3/5): Awful. At booking I wasn’t told there would be a concert right outside our bedroom until 2am! The music was so loud it k - It was very clean The mattress was so hard it felt like we were sleeping on a concrete floor. It was a terrible nights sleep.
- Joanne (7/5): Suited our needs - Location Breakfast choice not great
- Vladimira (10/5): It is very lovely place in quiet Estoi. I can highly recommend this place. - It is old, thou very clean with wonderful atmosphere. We are traveling by car, so it was very ok for us to get everywhere around.
- Joan (8/5): Very good - Very peaceful
- Julia (8/5): Very good - Stylish antique furniture .Good a/c in room and a kettle. More beds at the pool.
- Mariela (6/5): It has tons of potential, but needs a lot of improvement - It is advertised as a 4 star hotel,it is maximum 2 1/2 stars .Pool needs a lot of improvement, it is not a heated pool ,lounge chairs are broken etc.
A/C are really old ,make a lot of noise and the one in the living room doesn't work well.
- Jost (3/5): Music is in the air. And in the ears. Unfortunately, the whole trip was affected by the noise from outside. I didn't know that there was an open air concert in front of the hotel. The hotel staff didn't tell me that either. The noise in the room was so loud (100-125 dB) until 3 a.m. There was no chance of sleeping. Finally, the concert was dismantled. But at 7 a.m. we were woken up. The staff could hear the latest party songs very loudly on their smartphones in the hotel corridors (luckily with reduced volume). Great.
I would like to point out that the concert is of course not the hotel's responsibility. But if I had known that, I would never have started the trip.
- Carole (8/5): Very good -
- Monica (9/5): Lovely old house . In centre of a very pretty little town - Location Didn’t clean out pool until 11:30 one day…. Not sure why that sort of thing is not done first thing.
- Elodie (10/5): Exceptional - Location, swimming pool, breakfast, house itself.
- Fiona (6/5): Pleasant -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Clark (10/5): Great location and nice pool and facilities. Would stay again. - Great room, easy access to the pool, which we were the only ones using. Breakfast was great, and check out at 12pm was very handy. The air con wasn't fantastic, it did cool the room so it wasn't unbearable but would have been nice to be a little cooler.
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly , quiet, beautiful location
- La (10/5): José was the perfect host, on hand if anything needed and beautiful place to stay - an enjoyable week away…thank you !!! - Beautiful period property set in a traditional village setting. This is a unique proof and is untouched from the commercial aspect of tourism. If you are looking for a charming and beautiful place then here is your opportunity! There isn’t anything that wasn’t appreciated about my stay and or the property.
- James (9/5): Friendly welcome from the owner who facilitated us with an early check in as we were attending a wedding in the local ch - We loved the authentic Portuguese design and the excellent swimming pool which we could access from our apartment balcony Really liked it so no issues here
- Pjp (9/5): Perfect location. - Everything Nothing
- Fabricio (10/5): Exceptional - room size, breakfast, bedding lines
- Jurgita (9/5): very exotic old luxury family villa, but the equipment should be updated already - fantastic family casa They took much more money for third person than it cost in booking.com and we did not understand why
- Nicolas (1/5): Avoid: room not cleaned between guests, rude host - It's really hard to find a positive aspect of our experience... Nothing sounds about the right answer. I RARELY complain because bad experiences are not often the results of bad intentions, but sorry, here I must warn future potential guests. First, and this is the weakest argument against the place, there is nothing to do in Estoi. People around sounded quite surprise to see tourist.
Then, where to start... As we entered, the place looks charming, the touch on the decoration is clearly something you like or not, this is a matter a taste. At least, on this point (but only on this) the pictures match the reality. Someone was then 'waiting' for us. I can't write 'welcoming us', clearly among the worse of the hundreds hotels I've stayed into, no greetings, no thank you as we gave our document. I first thought a poor English was the culprit, but it was not a matter of language. We were then indicated our room and here started the worse of all: no cleaning was made since the precious guest! I can tell he was a man with a beard and he shaved it all over the bathroom (see the pictures after cleaning already some!!!) Same on the bed sheet which were not clean (I'll spare you the gross details...) and the floor, the bathtube, etc. (Toilet... You don't need a picture here too...). I got really pissed if not angry, but unlike our guest, I consider myself polite and well-educated. So I went to talk to her and after seeing the crime scene (not exaggerating) she finally decided to change the bedsheets - no apologies, of course, why would she? - but didn't clean anything else, like the bathroom (see above). We also found trash at the night table. She just took it then disappeared.
On the amenities, forget at the swimming-pool - rather a large bathtub for 4 people - : it was dirty and clearly not in service. Construction workers were fixing stuff outside and all the dust and wall part ended up in the pool. A joke. However, we have been as curteous as we could, and believe, we tried hard.
Now comes the fireworks: we had to fly back home early therefore we decided to wake up at 4.
- Carol (9/5): Charming property and member of staff extremely helpful. - No time for breakfast No restaurant nearby, the Palace would not accept non residents for dinner or a drink.
- Beverley (7/5): Staff lovely and good value for money - The location is central Estoi No milk with the tea making facilities some of the lights in the room didn’t work.
- Yogesh (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
