Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): - It was old fashioned, but very comfortable. Out of the way but not in a disturbing manner.
- Todd (10/5): - We are Grammie & Grampa to Braxton and his brother and sisters. We will be back often now that we know about Wagon Wheel. Everyone was wonderful
- Bert (10/5): - Great rooms, great food and wonderful staff!
- Linda (10/5): Comfy and quiet - Super friendly staff, quiet and convenient with a bar and restaurant on property.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Great little property. Owner was friendly and worked with our unique timing for checkout. Room was simple but in great condition.
- Jerry (8/5): Mesa - Rooms werecleab, staff was friendly and checkin was okay. Could use some updating. Food in the restaurant was good
- Sean (10/5): - Jeanie welcomed us and got us checked in. After we got settled, she took care of us at dinner. After a day on the road, this was a nice stop for dinner and a bed. The rooms were a little bit musty, but I guess that just comes with age. Good experience overall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great weekend getaway place! - Nice hotel, good views, nice restaurant and bar connected to the lodge.
- Rebecca (10/5): Fun at the Wagon Wheel - The staff and patrons could not have been nicer.
- Deborah (6/5): - No outdoor space for guests except on restaurant patio. Internet never did work. Advertised breakfast but then there was sign that they were not serving breakfast. No other restaurants in town. Restaurant food was good for dinner except since we wanted to eat outside because of the dog service was anytime they could get to us. Room was adequate. Appreciated mini fridge and free standing shower. Short drive to beautiful lakes but not much in “town” of Mesa.
- Patrick (10/5): - Beautiful room and wonderful customer service
- Arthur (10/5): Rich local charm - For a genuine western Colorado experience, you can’t beat the rustic charm of the Wagon Wheel and the town of Mesa. The lounge and its local attendees and staff are a lot of fun. Friday nights are a great time to visit. The surrounding area on and below the Grand Mesa is beautifully scenic and dense with great adventure activities year round.
- Megan (10/5): Peaceful and Home Feel - The staff was so friendly and accommodating. It's also a plus (if you like a social atmosphere) that the motel is connected to a bar and restaurant. The day we checked in was Karaoke night and the woman who helped us recommend staying a little further from the bar and patio so it wouldn't be too noisy with the bar guests. We didn't hear a peep it was so quiet, I wouldn't have known there was any events happening downstairs. We wouldn't have known otherwise of noise concerns so I appreciate her transparency up front. We were here for a wedding, my only complaints is that we did not get to try the restaurant, they had changed hours to open at 11AM instead of 8 per their website so we missed breakfast due to our own schedule commitments. It looks and sounds outstanding. With being in town for a wedding it was a little difficult that there was not an iron or hair dryer in the room, I managed to steam out our clothes with the shower. There was also no provided hair dryer. These were not a deal breakers by any means but a heads up to pack for yourself accordingly. We loved this little motel and felt safe with our 4 year old. The area is beautiful and a quaint small town, we hope to visit and enjoy the restaurant in the future!
- Lonnie (10/5): - The people here are so great!!! I love staying here!
- Bryan (10/5): - A great place to stay. The food was wonderful and the staff was friendly. They make great cocktails in the bar too. The room was comfortable and clean.
- CRISTA (8/5): Cozy. - Second year we have stayed there.
Comfortable and friendly.
We can see the slopes from our room!
- Robert (10/5): Good experience - Just one night mid-week to ski at Powderhorn. very clean. Quiet. A few locals at the bar, for breakfast too. Food is yummy with big portions. I live in Paonia. I WILL return there for my multi day ski trips.
- Debra (4/5): - We never stayed at this hotel. When we arrived to check in they said they had no reservation for us. They said they don’t even work with Hotels.comWe left and made reservations at a different motel in Grand Junction thru Hotels.com
- Lonnie (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and the people are always so nice. Great food in the restaurant
- Jessica (10/5): Hidden Treasure❤️❤️❤️ - We had a very long drive from iowa and were extremely hungry, dirty, and exhausted. We were able to eat a great inexpensive meal at the restaurant, got accommodated to check in a little early so we could get showered and sleep peacefully the rest of the day and night. It was a very low key safe place with every we needed. Special thanks to the woman in charge- I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name. She was wearing many hats- bartender, waitress, hotel receptionist and was super busy managing everything and was very patient with my exhausted husband❤️
- Isabel (10/5): Good people - Very enjoyable time spent with the staff and patrons at the bar. Cool to be able to have a good time and eat some good food and just walk straight back to the room without even going outside. Would stay again even though I only live 40 min away!
- Dave (6/5): - Quaint and staff was friendly. Overpriced. Needs updating. Very noisy. Patio area was littered with trash, cigarette butts, beer cans
- Michelle (10/5): - The room was charming and clean, the staff was very friendly and breakfast was amazing!
- Michael (10/5): Grand Mesa getaway - quiet, facility is older, but very comfortable convenient to Grand Mesa activities, service friendly, restaurant convenient, food good with range of choices
- CRISTA (10/5): Great Place! Only 10 minutes to Powderhorn!! - We really enjoyed our stay...and the restaurant and staff were great!!
The room was super-cute!
My only suggestion: The WI-FI was really spotty in the room.....but pretty good elsewhere....I was able to use my phone to keep up on business.
- Becky (2/5): - This hotel was over booked and we were not able to stay there even with a reservation. Please update your site to only show rooms actually
available.
- Jose (10/5): True small town Colorado hospitality. - The people were very friendly, room was clean and food was amazing.
Such a great experience staying there, will definitely come back.
- Kelly (10/5): - The staff absolutely made this stay! So friendly and polite. The breakfast was delicious as well.
- Judy (10/5): Everything I wanted here was great. - My main reason for the overnight stay was that I could not get home in time to watch Sunday football. At check-in, the receptionist made sure I knew which TV channel to select. The room was quite spacious and very comfortable. Between games, I just trotted down stairs for a turkey sandwich, sweet potatoe fries, and a beer. I was happy with the food and service there as well. Today I will take in a hike before heading home.
- Shawna (10/5): - We had so much fun at this place, great staff, very friendly and the food was wonderful!!
- scott (8/5): Great place off the Interstate - Really nice place in great little town.
Restuarant / bar was good
Drive was not long and view was worth it
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend after fabulous stay. - Wagon Wheel was an amazing stay... Room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Staff was very friendly and helpful -- can't praise them enough. The restaurant service and food was also wonderful. A great place for a great price. Highly Recommend!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We tried to cancel due to being on a motorcycle and bad weather which kept us from making it. When we called there was no answer many times over. Message said if we were trying to order food to keep trying till someone answered, which told me they were busy or lack of help and we had ran into this on our trip, so understood that. So had the chance to leave a message about canceling and no one returned my call. Went thru Expedia also pd extra for the insurance. Expedia told me this property did not honor cancellations! Seriously what kind of business is this. We were charged full price and we were over 3 hrs away from this place. They have never returned my call😡
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This motel is a little off the beaten path but the scenery coming from the west off of I-70 is spectacular. It is great if you are interested in mixing with the locals. The room was spotless and comfortable. The restaurant is in the same building. If you have a pup, there is a covered porch to eat on too. Food was exceptional. Owners were extremely friendly and willing to please.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at this out-of-the-way combination which we were sent to when no spaces were available in Grand Junction. The room was quiet and clean (there are only three), the food was good and the service was friendly and good. Interesting display of early ranch/farming equipment on the dining room walls. About 12 miles off from I 70 through an attractive canyon.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rustic setting, staff was helpful but very busy on a Friday night.
- Linda (10/5): Wagon Wheel Motel - Had an amazing stay. Very nice location, restaurant and motel, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at this charming hotel several days at the suggestion of a cousin who lives in Mesa. It was wonderful. Clean throughout, fantastic food, clever Western decor, on-site laundry, and an accommodating and friendly staff. It could not have been better. Our room had a view of the Grand Mesa and mornings were highlights while we watched deer families. Highly recommend!
- michael (8/5): Peasant stay - Good place nice people
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really nice, quaint place to stay. Very quiet area and the restaurant is good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): When you see their sign...Keep driving!!! - Location is desolate making their over priced restaurant and bar the only option. Staff was extremely rude (unless over tipped of course) and highly untrained. Originally booked a three night stay but they were so rude that my son and I wanted to leave the second morning. Unfortunately none of the staff knew how to refund a credit card. They are a “pet friendly”establishment but if your pets are small then beware because they allow their dogs to roam unleashed day and night. The dogs are territorial and aren’t afraid to show it. The owners seem to be oblivious of how a small town establishment should be ran.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Last minute getaway to Palisade - We usually stay in Palisade but everywhere was booked. We drove in during the dark so seemed remote at first and we were surprised to see groups of cows walking down the middle of the road so we just drove slowly around them. Room was good for us, clean and quiet. Smelled a little of smoke since it drifted up from the porch below. Seemed like a family-run place so people were nice and helpful. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was clean and quiet. The staff was friendly. We had breakfast in the morning at the restaurant and it was great!
- Lisa (10/5): - Very nice room with comfortable furnishings. Clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming 9 room motel, very clean and spacious. Wound stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice family run place in the mountains. Staff very friendly. Will definitely visit again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I booked the room with the Kitchenette. When I arrived the room was occupied so I was not able to cook the food I brought with me. The kitchen did cook my food, the folks at the hotel were friendly and very helpful, but it was a huge in-connivance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A trie gem of the Western Slope. Minutes from Powderhorn Ski Area, great food, friendly staff. The room exceeded expectations in cleanliness and comfort.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All very lovely. Extremely conservative crowd so stay away if you don’t want to listen to their
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This motel room was very clean and updated. Very comfortable for the price. The close location to outdoor activities in the Mesa was perfect. The attached restaurant has a wonderful menu and very good food. The staff was super friendly.
- Jane (8/5): Perfect for Grand Mesa - We had a great stay at the Woagon Wheel Motel. The people were very friendly and the room was clean. Location was great to explore Grand Mesa. Would definitely stay there again!
- Doug (8/5): Color Weekend - This place was recently renovated and was in excellent condition and very clean. We went to see the fall colors on the Grand Mesa and this was a perfect place to stay.
- Ed (6/5): - Rooms were clean and nice. I reserved a 2 bed and all they had was a single which. Really made it difficult. Kids has to sleep on the floor. They don’t seem to have very good communication with Expedia.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good motel and restaurant in Mesa - At first look of the motel location and building, it's not as appealing. It's your only choice after descending from Grand Mesa and the building is not flashy.
However, the staff was very warm, courteous, and helpful. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioner worked, and the bathroom was beautifully done.
The restaurant downstairs did the job for what they served, too! The hamburgers and sandwiches were really good and the servers were very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will visit again! - Room was very nice and clean. The room was up to date and did not look run down and it was cozy.
