The property itself is stunning — lush and jungle-like, with a gorgeous variety of restaurants, pools, and world-class entertainment. And I mean world-class. Every night was a full production, completely original and over the top in the best possible way. We chose the Preferred experience and cannot recommend it highly enough. Your own private beach area, exclusive club access, and — one of my personal favorite touches — Le Labo toiletries. It's the little things that elevate a stay from great to unforgettable. A few people who truly made our trip: ⭐ Osuna & Reuben — orchestrated the most dramatic and joyful Bali Bed reveal for my husband's birthday. We were blown away. ⭐ Riccardo — this man has an extraordinary memory. We met once and he remembered us three days later. - Stefano (1/5): Peor ecuación precio/calidad hasta ahora y soy Genius 3 en esta app - La concierge Karen -proceso de check in de una hora -Piscina agua muy helada a finales de marzo -Comida de muy mala calidad para el valor del hotel, mi peor ecuación precio / calidad hasta ahora. -políticas de vestimenta no consistente a otros secrets, y uno lleva el vestuario según experiencias con la marca. -Para todo se debe caminar mucho, y si se le suma el uso obligado de pantalón largo a hombres en la mayoría de los restoranes, esto se hace un desagrado. -el hotel tiene constantes congresos de empresas que hacen que uno no se sienta de vacaciones. - filas para todo y no respetan horario en el único restorán con reserva -la playa esa llena de limitaciones para bañarse, y prácticamente está entregada como negocio a locales para el nado con tortugas. Had the opportunity to do the kayak tour with Alan who was absolutely outstanding and provided an amazing experience throughout my entire stay. Would highly recommend here if you love to snorkel as we saw plenty of turtles and stingrays.

My friends and I went for a girls trip and every moment from the minute we got there to the minute we left were perfection. Everything was extremely organized, clean, and beautiful. The resort definitely has a more “chill” vibe but we still had so much to do! Special shout out to Max who pulled us in to activities from day one and brought 100% energy every day, Alan & Carlos who brought the fun through stargazing, kayaking, and craft making, Ari who led us on her last paddle boarding tour #wearegonnamissyouAri, Diego who served us at Portifino, our wonderful sommelier (Alberto?) who led our wine tour, and Rueban and Ricardo who waited on us hand and foot by the pool. The food was fantastic and good service was ever-present. My wife and I enjoyed the kayak tour and I rented the snorkel gear and surveyed the underwater zones right off the beach. We stayed for 5 nights and have no complaints!

The level of hospitality truly went above and beyond anything we’ve experienced before. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, the food was excellent, and there was always something fun going on thanks to the incredible entertainment team. We genuinely have no complaints. A few special shoutouts to staff who made our trip extra memorable: Metz, our building concierge, was so kind and attentive—she truly made our stay seamless. Allen from the entertainment staff was fantastic; we loved his energy during activities like aqua strong and ping pong. Diego and Jesus by the pool were always on top of everything—poolside service was outstanding. Jose and Ocuna, the pool concierges (which we didn’t even know was a thing!), went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Luc and Emelda at the spa! We also had such a great time with Addy and Dede paddleboarding. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and so well maintained, and the twice-daily housekeeping was such a nice touch. We’ve been to several other resorts in Riviera Maya, but the staff absolutely blew us away here! Eduardo is the best bartender we’ve ever met at any resort. He was so kind, funny, and really impressed us with his energy. He made the best drinks! Carlos, who is part of the poolside entertainment team, was absolutely a joy to see and talk to everyday! He had amazing hospitality and made every day at the pool filled with laughs and good memories. Andres, who is also part of the poolside entertainment team, was also an amazing part of the experience! He made poolside bingo a blast and we looked forward to it everyday. Karen was our concierge, and she was an absolute delight! He did an amazing job at helping us throughout our stay. She was also very attentive and made sure we had a memorable stay. - Z6609DYmorgand (2/5): Do NOT Spend Your Honeymoon Here - We chose Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya for our honeymoon, expecting a relaxing, all-inclusive luxury experience. Instead, it was one of the most stressful, disappointing trips we’ve ever taken. From the moment we arrived, things felt off. During check-in, we were immediately pressured to “upgrade” our stay for an additional $2,000, despite already booking through their system and using their transportation. We refused to upgrade after paying $7,500 to have our “full ocean view” When we were shown to our room, it was incredibly disappointing. We paid extra for a “full ocean view,” but in reality, it was barely visible—just a small glimpse of water from the back of the property. It felt completely misleading and not worth the upgrade at all. One of the worst parts of our stay was the so-called “breakfast” we were invited to for a $50 massage promotion. This turned into a three-hour high-pressure sales presentation. We were never told it was a sales pitch, and despite repeatedly being told “this is not a timeshare,” it absolutely felt like one. We spoke with 5–6 different people, and every time we said no, someone new was brought in to try to sell us again. They pushed a $100,000+ membership, even after we clearly explained we had just gotten married and are in the process of buying a home. It was exhausting, uncomfortable, and wasted two beautiful vacation days we will never get back. The hidden fees didn’t stop there. When we scheduled our spa services, we were later told it would cost an additional $600 total for things like being in the same room and requesting deep pressure—none of which were disclosed upfront. We still ended up paying over $100 per person, which completely contradicts the idea of an “all-inclusive” resort. When we tried to address these concerns with management, we were dismissed. We were told to lower our voices because other guests were present, and when we returned the next day, we were essentially told that we were lying and that their staff had explained everything—which is simply not true. We also had issues with the dress code, which was never clearly communicated. My husband brought nice, appropriate dress shorts (similar to golf attire), and we were repeatedly turned away from restaurants because he wasn’t wearing long pants. This caused unnecessary stress and limited where we could eat. The only positive part of this experience was the kindness and professionalism of many of the staff working on the grounds. Alejandro, Andy, Felipe, Isaac, Ari, Noemi, and Carlos were all truly incredible and were the highlight of our trip. They were welcoming, attentive, and made us feel taken care of in a way that the overall resort experience did not. Unfortunately, even their efforts could not make up for everything else we experienced. For a resort that claims to be one of the best all-inclusive destinations in the world, this felt like a constant attempt to upsell and take advantage of guests. It was anything but relaxing. I spent part of my honeymoon in tears, regretting this decision. I have traveled to Mexico every year and have never had an experience like this. This was our first all-inclusive—and it will likely be our last. We will never return to Secrets or any Hyatt property again. Do not book your honeymoon here.

Akumal is now one of our favorites. We were upgraded upon arrival to oceanfront and Francisco was wonderful as our concierge in building 4. Mario was fabulous at the Barracuda beach bar and would keep a bottle of champagne on ice for us. Akumal was a wonderful experience with excellent service all around. Bordeaux was our favorite restaurant, yet all were great. Seaweed removal they took care of daily; we had no issues enjoying the beach. We brought our own snorkel gear and saw two turtles to the left of the resort if you are facing the water. We will be back!

- sharoncwt (6/5): Nice resort but definitely not #1 - Well TripAdvisor steered us wrong on this one. We selected this resort because it was rated #1 on the 2025 TripAdvisor Best of the Best. It should not be rated that highly in my opinion. The resort is nice but we’ve been to better Secrets properties. Let’s start with the grounds it’s very lush and green but a little too tropical. At night (and during the day depending on where you are headed) it’s hard to navigate where you are going. And look out for the bats and raccoon like animals on the uncovered paths at night. But there are paths that are lit and paved for walking back to your hotel rooms. I didn’t sign up for bats flying close to my head regularly during nighttime leisurely strolls!!! Also the ocean view rooms don’t have the greatest view because of all of the greenery. If you really want to see the ocean you should pay for oceanfront. Also beware of where your room is located. We were near an elevator and we heard every service cart and conversation. Don’t even try to sleep in. The carts start rolling between 6 and 8 AM. Our room definitely was not peaceful. Room service is important but the carts were unusually loud. It diminished the experience and we have been to multiple secrets properties and they all seemed able to keep a peaceful experience during early morning hours while satisfying guest needs. When we arrived to our Preferred Club room I did not have a complimentary beach bag waiting for me. However, our concierge Karina took care of that immediately. She was also in contact with us daily providing activities and she made our hibachi and Bali bed reservations. She was excellent and was a delight. All staff interactions were fantastic!! The service was top notch and all worked hard to satisfy guests needs. We were very impressed with the staff and their attention to guests needs-besides the early am noise. The food was very good but I’d skip the French restaurant. Worst lobster bisque we’ve ever had. Tasted like dishwater. And the escargot were rubbery (think leather). On to the beach. If you enjoy lots of sargassum seaweed this is the spot for you! It covered the shore and the breeze brings the egg scent right to you on the Bali beds. Not unbearable but it was unpleasant and disappointing to be unable to enjoy the beach because of all the seaweed.

I’m going to be honest Mexico wasn’t on my hit list but I was recommend this hotel and booked it after reading such good trip advisor reviews. I have to say it was the best thing we did, we had the best holiday and I didn’t want to leave. Will I be back? 100%! This hotel went above and beyond, the staff were amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble. The food, the entertainment, the pools the list goes on, I have nothing bad to say. When we arrived the seaweed had washed up, but they worked so hard to clean it up, and within a short time the beach was back to normal, it must be so frustrating for them but nature has its own mind, and they did everything possible to sort it out, which they did and the beach was beautiful. Had a lovely hot stone massage at the spa which was exceptional and well worth the money. I cant thank all the staff enough for such a wonderful holiday from young David at breakfast to Jose at the pool side, thank you for making our holiday so special. Can’t wait to come again….until next time!
- wolfstar83 (10/5): Excellent service, food and resort layout - Secrets Akumal will ruin your future stays at other all inclusive resorts. We have been to Secrets Akumal 8 times. We have been to several Carribean resorts but we alway go back to SA. Why do we alway go back? 1. The premium liquor, and the bartenders that know how to use the premium liquors. They can make more than just a frozen drink or a rum and coke. They make a fabulous paper plane, French 75, Manhattan, sidecar, etc. 2. The ability to leave the resort. You can snorkel right in front of the resort or walk a few yards and go on a guided snorkeling tour which guarantees you’ll see turtles. There is also the town of Akumal which is walkable with restaurants and local crafts. You can leave the resort and experience local color without losing an entire day with a tour like most secluded resorts. 3. Jungle and beach. Instead of feeling like you’re in a high rise in Miami, you feel like you’re in the jungle with its lush grounds. The beach is amazing! You can sit and admire the beach and ocean or you can enter and always see a colorful array of fish, stingrays and turtles. 4 the food is alway amazing from breakfast to dinner, room service to al a cart restaurants. 5. The staff makes this resort. Since our second stay there have always been several staff that not only remembers us but remembers our names and personal preferences. When you arrive they tell everyone “Welcome home” with their attention to detail we do feel like we’re returning home. We’ll been to a lot of higher end resorts including other secrets, SA’s staff is by far the best. Because of these 5 things we already have our 9th trip booked. Some of our favorite staff members include: Jaime, Alejandro, Miguel, Ruben, Carlos and Ardel, but there are too many to list.

They also remembered us each day, created inside jokes with us, and recruited us for different events. The staff at this location are exceptional and are what make Secrets Akumal stand out from the rest.

Drinks were great food was good but we are pretty particular on that topic so there’s room for improvement there but we’d still come back. We booked swim out room ocean front and it’s perfect. Ricardo was our concierge and he was all over it. Beat meal off the week was at Portofino, the onsite Italian restaurant. Least favorite was the Greek.

We loved the tropical gardens and the birds, iguanas etc. On a lovely sandy beach with a choice of pools. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was very good at all restaurants and the staff were very friendly and looked after you. Coffee shop in site was good an open 24/7. Turtles are worth seeing. The beach is small so can’t walk far. In the evenings there is only one small pool bar open and the lobby bar which we weren’t keen on. Our original room didn’t have a good outlook - gloomy even in the sun.

Never short of sunbeds, and we really appreciated the quiet pool! Overall a tranquil, chic and relaxed atmosphere. Something that is not easy to find around Cancun! The complimentary wines were not really great, and the ”premium” wines were very expensive and sold only by bottle. We also found the spa treatments very expensive, so didn’t take advantage of them

- CaseyNJ (8/5): Great Service - Great service and staff. Couldn't do enough for you. Resort was pretty and clean. Entertainment was good and often in 2 locations each night. Outdoor BBQ for lunch and daily pizza oven and rolling fruit and ice cream cart. There are 3 large pools. The one near the ocean was the loudest and then got quieter as you moved further. The food was good and you sometimes will need a reservation. Hibachi was very good. It is not necessary to have a swim out pool. The pools were cool and not heated. Despite the many signs your will get lost. We stayed entirely on the property and relaxed in our lounge chairs. Antonio and Sharon were great and so was our Concierge Jose. If you want something just ask and they will take care of it. The beach was crowded with lounge chairs on top of each other, it also had a slight odor. The gluten free breads and muffins were not as soft as they could be. The fruit was like candy. There are vendors on the beach. There are also staff (not aggressive) looking to sign you up for a massage/timeshare talk. Paddle boarding and kayaking is done by hotel group tour only. I recommend taking part in the pool side activities to enjoy your stay. They have Tequila tasting for a slight up charge, Teaching and sampling on carving a Tuna. Spanish lessons. Water exercise and aerobics.

Beach service (Alejandro) makes getting a palapa easier than most resorts and keeps the peddlers from becoming a nuisance. I recommend water shoes as there are rocks and coral in places that can be hard to walk on in the water, but you can see a nice variety of fish snorkeling off the beach. We were in the “preferred” section and don’t know if other sections were as good, but the service, notably our concierge Monica, went above and beyond to meet any requests. All the restaurants were excellent, with a particular shout out to Diego who made a great teppanyaki meal with skill and flair! A couple of small nits to pick (figuratively): the tennis courts aren’t great and if you want to play bring your own balls and rackets. Pickleball not available. The viennoiserie selection at the breakfast buffet needs an upgrades in quality and variety, although the overall amount of choices at the buffet was impressive.

- kateenglefield (10/5): Exceptional service from outstanding people - This was my second stay at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya and once again the overall experience was excellent, largely because of the people who work so hard to make guests feel genuinely cared for. A special and heartfelt mention must go to Annie, our concierge in Building 8. We experienced a truly horrendous British Airways admin issue affecting one member of our group, and Annie spent hours with us contacting BA and Cancun airport, doing absolutely everything possible to help. Her kindness, patience, good humour and determination never wavered. On top of that, she sorted a hot water issue in our room immediately, printed our boarding passes after all the BA chaos, posted a postcard for my dad, and thoughtfully marked multiple milestones during our stay. She celebrated my dad’s retirement with beautiful balloons and a lovely message, arranged a birthday welcome for Becky with a banner and cake, and marked our 10 year anniversary with another banner and a handwritten note. Annie truly could not have done more for us. Her attitude and care were exceptional. At Himitsu, service was consistently good, but Fernando really stood out. He was attentive, professional, and brought a wicked sense of humour that added so much to the evening. His energy genuinely elevated the whole experience. Breakfasts and lunches at the Market Café were made brighter thanks to Olinda. She was so warm and welcoming every day, with an amazing memory for how everyone took their coffee. Patient, kind and ever so glamorous, she made even the busiest mornings feel calm and personal. At the spa, I had a relaxing massage with Diana, who made me feel comfortable immediately. Her technique was excellent. She combined relaxation with genuinely therapeutic work, intuitively knowing where to go a little deeper. I had the best sleep of the entire week after that treatment. The resort itself was immaculately clean throughout. One small comparison from my previous visit in November 2024 is that the signature scent of the resort felt less pervasive this time. Previously it was noticeable throughout the resort, whereas on this visit it was mainly in the lobby and spa, which was a bit of a shame, though a very minor point in the context of an otherwise fantastic stay. Entertainment-wise, Quarzo Band were the standout by far. Incredible energy, brilliant delivery, and they had our whole group completely engaged. Easily the best entertainment of the trip. Overall, another wonderful stay at Secrets Akumal. The setting is beautiful, but it’s the people who truly make this resort special. We left feeling looked after, relaxed, and very grateful.

The resort is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the service is generally very strong — but what truly made our trip unforgettable were a few exceptional people who went above and beyond. First, I want to mention Hugo, the restaurant & bar director. His kindness and attention were outstanding, both with my daughter and with me. He is genuinely warm, professional, and present — the kind of person who elevates an entire guest experience. A warm thank you as well to Marysol (hostess) for her welcoming presence, and Felipe (bartender) for his great attitude and excellent service. On the beach, Alejandro (beach butler) took great care of us in the Preferred/VIP section. He was attentive, efficient, and always kind — he made our beach days so easy and enjoyable. We also really appreciated Maximiliano (activities) — great energy, always positive, and he helped make the resort feel fun and alive. But the absolute standout of our entire trip was Veronica at the spa. She first gave me a massage on the beach (which immediately made me want to book at the spa), and I did — and I ended up going back two more times because it was that good. Her massage deserves 12/10. It’s truly one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I am a spa owner and trained massage therapist, so I know exceptional work when I experience it. Veronica is a rare talent and deserves special recognition. Finally, a sincere thank you to Fernanda, our concierge/butler in the Preferred section. She was incredibly helpful, professional, and sweet, and she made everything smoother from beginning to end. Thank you to the entire Secrets Akumal team — we left with beautiful memories and we would absolutely come back.
- MZF123 (10/5): Amazing five star experience - We had an amazing stay at Secrets Akumal, and would highly recommend a visit. The best place to start is the service and the people, both are absolutely amazing. We were introduced to our concierge Reyna on our 1st morning, he sent us all the hotel information then sought us out to introduce himself round the pool, explain the details and ensure we were happy with everything. He was constantly available and was always willing to answer any questions, provide details and help us with any request, he was brilliant. There are 3 amazing pools, a busy louder pool where many of the activities are held, a quieter pool close to this area which we spent a lot of our time and then finally the actual quiet pool which was peaceful, tranquil and very relaxing. Each pool has its own concierge to assist you with your bed, towels, and parasol, give you updates on the day’s activities, food options etc, Antonio and Ruben were particularly helpful and friendly. Every pool has servers who work tirelessly to provide, drinks and food. Karla and Cynthia were always great. The restaurants and food are great, we ate at all the venues and wouldn’t have a bad word to say about any, lots of choice, very tasty and great service once more. We found Alfonso in Himitsu, Rafeal in Bordeaux, Victor in El Patio and David in seaside grill all excellent. The bar staff and bars are all great too, no drink is off menu and nothing is ever an issue, we enjoyed all the bars and always found Rudy working and he was brilliant, always happy, delivering fantastic service and ensuring we were having a good time and didn’t need another top up! We were in a non-preferred category room, block 9b, and it was superb, the bed was comfortable, the shower and jacuzzi bath were both spacious and excellent, we had a lovely view from our balcony with comfortable chairs and the room was spotless and thoroughly cleaned every day during our stay. I would also add that there are lots of toilets throughout the property and we found they were always clean and tidy no matter the time of day, a very hard working team. We enjoyed the shows on site, the entertainment team were always working hard and making sure everyone was having fun. We loved the star gazing on the beach with David, the live singer with a pop up bar made it an amazing memorable experience that will live with us forever. We were unable to book our turtle snorkelling with the hotel, due to limited space, however we went to the Akumal dive centre and I would highly recommend the experience either through the hotel or a different route like us. This was our first time at this hotel and our second time at a Secrets resort, once again it did not disappoint and we look forward to going back and exploring more that Secrets has to offer.

The food is incredible, the concierges are so helpful, the service is amazing. They will go above and beyond to make sure you have the best vacation. Bref comme dans les hôtels bas de gamme il faut soudoyer les plagistes pour avoir un emplacement sur la plage réservée aux VIP .. la chambre sentait le moisi .. franchement nous nous attendions à un hôtel de standing ..
- Alejandro (9/5): Luxury all-inclusive in front of snorkeling paradise. - The beach in front has amazing snorkeling and the turtle sanctuary is walking distance. Food was exceptional, with 6 restaurants a la carte to choose from. I travelled with my mom that has mobility issues, we rented a scooter and the hotel is super accessible and the staff super attentive to our needs. Hardly anything.
- Q93UQkellyg (10/5): Our Amazing Service, Food, and Stay at Secrets Akumal - I surprised my husband with a three-day Christmas stay at Secrets Akumal. Although we are UVC members, we are biased and love this resort. We also live right down the street from this resort. We have stayed here at least fourteen times over the last eight or nine years. Since we have a higher-level membership, we were upgraded to a Preferred Club Swimout room. The water was a little chilly this time of year, but who's complaining? Our favorite restaurants are all of them. Rank-ordered from best to least: Himitsu (à la carte), Bordeaux, Oceana, Portifino, Seaside, Santorini, and El Patio. Each restaurant has amazing dishes we love. Obviously, since we were only there for three dinner meals, we ate at Santorini, Bordeaux, and Himitsu. Santorini is just getting started, so the service was slow, but the lamb and fried cheese appetizer were amazing. Bordeau is incredible. I'm a sucker for the escargot, and they never disappoint. The French onion soup was outstanding as well. The lamb and surf and turf were good, but the lamb at Santorini was better. Himitsu à la carte is still our favorite. We ordered the sashimi, spring rolls, soft shell crab salad, Tom Kha Gai soup, frog legs in green curry, and mixed pad thai. Everything was incredible, but the soft-shell crab salad and soup were the standouts! Outstanding mentions are the whole fried fish at Seaside Grill for lunch, the wood-fired pizza, and two days of grilled fare at Oceana: one day seafood, the other meat. They really outdo themselves for the holidays. We chose eating over shows, but the shows are always outstanding. My two favorite drinks are the Citrus Punch at the Relaxing pool (Halftime bar) and cassis and champagne. My go-tos are Hendrick's and tonic or soda, and Contessa Mexican-made gin in various flavors. Felipe (?), I think I have his name correct, rotates among the relaxing pool, the beach, and other areas. His service is always outstanding, and the bartenders remember your favorite drinks. Of all the resorts, the butlers make your stay comfortable, enjoyable, and fun. William and Mauricio are the best! Diego, the preferred club manager, is incredible. He needs to train other managers in accurate, personable service and hospitality. Javier, the head concierge, is also the BEST! He helped me with several minor matters and put his best foot forward in representing Secrets Akumal.
- Maheb87 (10/5): Incredible experience!! - I don’t write reviews often but doing so because we (my wife and I and another couple who are friends of ours) had an amazing stay at secrets! First of all a big shout out to the concierge team - Jose and Annie who were amazing. Jose is incredible at his job and it’s not an understatement when we say that he made our stay absolutely flawless! He was on top of every single item on our itinerary/plan and made sure we attended the events we wanted to attend, helped us navigate restaurant hours and made sure we got to eat where we wanted to eat, helped us with all our transportation and other reservations and he helped address any issue that came our way almost immediately! Another shoutout to Santiago the food director of the resort - incredibly thoughtful and attentive and made sure our dietary restrictions were met! Maximilano and Andrea and Didiel were awesome with all the fun events they had planned out for us. Maximilano and Andrea were incredible and sweet and so fun and the reason why the events were energetic and exciting! Lastly, Estefan at the gym rocks! Super attentive and great at his job! Made our workouts every morning a great experience!

Everything about the hotel was excellent, starting with the staff who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted. The choice of restaurants was great and the buffet restaurant where breakfast and lunch were served was one of the best we have experienced. We also had the choice of ordering food to our sunbed or enjoying a variety of barbecue food served at the beachfront restaurant. We would recommend Portofino the Italian restaurant as this was our favourite.
- stucker97 (10/5): Secrets Akumal Christmas 2025 - My vacation at Secrets Akumal was absolutely perfect! I have been to other secrets resorts (Cap Cana, Royal Beach, Moxche), and this is another amazing resort to add to the list. We visited during Christmas time and the decorations were stunning. The property is spacious and fun to explore throughout your entire vacation. The swim out rooms were my favorite room that I have stayed in at any of the properties. The service, restaurants, room service, and beach all made this the perfect vacation. Everyone was so friendly the entire stay. The entertainment team is always something I look forward to, and Alan, Lizbeth, and Arantaxa were always saying hello and spending time with us throughout our trip. Ana at the main pool took care of us each day at the Bali beds and was so sweet and fun to be around. She had amazing service. Osuna also did a great job coordinating anything we needed while at the main pool, as well as Monica. Both Albertos (sommeliers) were fantastic and took care of us when we did a private wine cellar dinner - which is my forfeited vacation dinner I have done and highly recommend. Lastly Ivan and George with UVC made our experience perfect! I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great get away with great food, beautiful sights, and great local people with a beautiful culture!

Would definitely recommend to friends and family, and definitely plan to return to this resort. We had the most interaction with Daniel at Seaside Grill. He was so kind, he visited and joked with us (all the while being very professional); and he has a charming smile.

- spencerm2026 (10/5): Best Mexican Resort Vacation - I highly recommend Secrets Akumal if you are looking for an all-inclusive 5-star resort. Service: The service was excellent. Everyone I encountered who worked here was very polite. I would like to highlight Jose, at the pool concierge, who was very kind and showed immense attention to detail. He would save seats for us, bring us towels, and mention various events that day. He even cleaned my Mom and sister's glasses without us asking. His English is also superb. He should definitely be promoted. One of the servers by the pool named Ephraim was also wonderful and offered excellent service. Food: The food here was absolutely delicious. My family and I went to Bordeaux (French restaurant), Himitsu (Hibachi cooked in front of you), Portofino (Italian), and El Patio (traditional Mexican) for dinner various nights. Every restaurant had large meals with plenty delectable appetizer, entree, and dessert offerings. Pools and Beach: There were many large pools to swim in with varying levels of noise (one was very quiet and peaceful while the two closest to the beach were a bit louder). You can order drinks while sitting by the pool and there is even a swim-up bar at one of the pools. The beach front is also quite large and the water was crystal clear blue Rooms: the rooms are very spacious and the attention to detail in the rooms is incredible.
- 994brittaneyb (6/5): Great service, terrible food - My boyfriend and I came to secrets Akumal for a week. When we arrived the check in process was extensive and long. We just wanted to get to our room and put our stuff down to grab a bite to eat. Especially after such a long travel day. They moved us 3 different times before finally getting us checked in. The property grounds are beautiful, the first few days it’s confusing to get around, but eventually you get the hang of it. The food is just OK. I honestly can’t believe this resort is rated #1 in the world. The one thing I would say is the service is really really good. Super accommodating and everyone is really nice. Our room was clean, beautiful views, but I wouldn’t say it was worth the price. If you’re looking for good food and somewhere to really reset and relax, I’d keep looking else where.

Our favorite memory is the Entertainment staff • Didiiel, Ari Ari, Oscar, Lizabeth, Brandom. They were so much fun and made sure our days were special! Our concierge “Alexandra” was awesome and took care of ALL OUR NEEDS! The pool servers Israel and Jose were so attentive daily to ensure we were not going without a drink! Osuna and Isaac were always around making sure everything was going smoothly with our stay. Diego in the Preferred Lounge was excellent • he had blue cheese olives made daily for my afternoon martinis! Activities were plentiful and the staff encouraged participation but weren't pushy. Service overall was impeccable - very attentive. We are a family of 5 (parents + three adult aged kids) and everyone had lots to keep us busy, or able to relax if we wanted. We'll be back for sure.
- 553conniey (8/5): The Secrets of Akumal - Pros: We booked a preferred room and it was amazing with a hot tub on the balcony and a jacuzzi inside the bathroom! Our concierge was Leidy and she was amazing! We also went on a tour to see turtles with the resort and Ari (Arantxa Navarro) was my hero who hard carried me throughout. The experience wouldn't have been remotely possible without her! Thank you both! Cons: While the resort experience was mostly awesome, there were small unnecessary hiccups that tainted the vacation. The entertainment team hosted various activities including small arts and crafts. I went a bit out of my way to participate in some of those activities only to come back disappointed. The quality of the activity was beyond horrible. The "make your own bracelet" was probably the worst. They (Didiel and Liz) didn't offer clear instructions or techniques and rushed people out within a minute like a factory. The output looked nothing like a bracelet worthy of souvenir and ended in the trash bin.

- Sarit8 (10/5): Christmas at Akumal - This resort is absolutely stunning, the staff goes above and beyond to help make your stay so special. The whole property is spotless, it has fantastic entertainment, we had a different show every night which was a lot of fun and kept us all entertained. We had visited Secrets Maroma before and that resort blew us away so we weren't sure what to expect with Secrets Akumal, but boy was it great! Some of the people traveling with us even preferred Akumal to Maroma which I think is a big compliment to all the staff at Secrets Akumal. The Christmas Dinner, follow up dinners and lunches were all so beautifully presented - just wish the outdoor events had warmer food it was often lukewarm which is disappointing. All in all we will definitely be back to this resort. Very special thank you's to Karina our Building concierge who went above and beyond all of our expectations. Her commitment to excellence and making sure our stay was unforgettable is so appreciated! She's a gem at Secrets Akumal and should definitely get a raise for her being so amazing! More thank you's to Sergio our awesome bar tender at the pool, Ana, Santiago, Diego, one of the managers at the Market Buffet and really everyone else who works at this delightful resort. Some notes: I would say the beach at Maroma is a bit nicer than Akumal, there are many lower end resorts right next to Secrets Akumal which are family friendly and a lot of the people from those resorts come on the beach area here with their kids which kind of ruins the whole "Adults Only" vibe. Note 2: We got approached by a man named Aurelio for doing a swimming with turtles excursion, his company name is "Akumal Tours Chuy" at a decent price and we had a terrible experience. We opted for a private tour by boat and the water was so choppy and rough where we were I thought we would drown and asked them to take us back to shore. They offered to guide us by swimming instead, but even then all we saw were a few fish and nothing else - I feel like maybe this was not the season to see the turtles I'm not sure so please be aware. Also - this company does not take you into the water by the secrets hotel, they walk you all the way to the other edge of the entire shore which is sketchy all on its own.

Being whisked to the Preferred Lounge for check-in set the tone for an incredible week. We were offered an upgrade to the Master Romantic Oceanfront Suite (Room 2202) for four of our seven days, and it was absolutely spectacular. The room was spacious and beautiful, with breathtaking ocean views. Every morning, I watched the sunrise from our balcony while enjoying room service - pure paradise. What truly makes Secrets Akumal special isn't just the stunning location or luxurious accommodations - it's the extraordinary staff who make you feel like family every single day. Hearing "How are you family?" throughout the day fills our hearts and reminds us why we keep coming back. - N7527EHryank (10/5): Best resort I've ever been to!! - Me and my wife spent 2 weeks here and loved it. Ill summarise it..... Location - Beautiful. Lots of greenery and the beach amazing Food - Best all inclusive food I've ever had in a hotel. Grounds - I have no idea how they keep it so clean and beautiful all the time. Work so hard at it. Wildlife - We seen many animals. Lots of iguanas, a few raccoons, Agouti, and Coati. None of them bothered you. Was just amazing to see them happy wandering round. Room - We had a Junior suite with a tropical view and we loved it. One of the largest rooms I've stayed in. Nothing but amazing things to say about the room. And finally the Staff - this is easily the jewel in their crown. The BEST service i have ever received anywhere. Could not be helpful enough. From Billie our Concierge, to Osuna at the pool and Max on the Entertainment team around the pool, that's just a few shortouts to the stand out staff we encountered. We will 100% be returning to Secrets Akumal

Whether lounging by the pool, enjoying evening entertainment, or simply walking through the lush pathways, everything felt thoughtfully curated. Secrets Akumal delivers luxury, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences in equal measure. We left already planning our return and would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a truly special getaway.
- 801fadwah (10/5): Five days, Four nights - The resort is beautiful and the food and staff are incredible. A huge thank you to Jonas, Oscar, Fernando and Gina for making our stay so special. When we first arrived we switched rooms because we had booked an ocean view but couldn’t see it. Fernando the concierge in building 8 was more than accommodating. He arranged a new room in building 7, gave us a tour of it prior to relocating to make sure it fit our needs, and booked us a Bali Bed as an apology for the error. Gina, the concierge in building 7 was just as thorough and helpful. She also decorated our room for my husband’s birthday which was such a thoughtful gesture. Jonas arranged a private bike tour for my husband and I after he found out we went to do the tour in the morning but there were no bikes left. We later found out this is a paid service that he did complimentary. Oscar, led the bike tour and was absolutely incredible. He is so knowledgeable about the area and made the experience truly enjoyable. Oscar also led the Aquastrong + class we attended which was equally enjoyable with him. We’d honestly come back just for the staff.

Clean, beautiful flowers and plants, very tastefully designed and decorated. Superstars Teammates at Secrets: William our UVC Butler – stayed in communication with all, provided care and assistance at every turn, helpful & caring. William helped us with our wedding stay and provided information regarding our potential mystery guest. He was proactive and responsive at every turn. Really made our stay great! Estabon Gym Attendant – warm, welcoming, remembered our names, offered water, towels and checked in regularly to ensure we had a good workout. Been to a lot of UVC resorts and never had anyone take such great care of their Gym role and responsibilities! Hooray for Estabon. Gym was clean, well-organized and well managed. Concierge in buildings 3 and 9b were really helpful and attentive to our needs. They always made sure we were on track to where we needed to go so we wouldn’t get lost on the way.

Our concierge Billie went above and beyond. She texted me the schedule of activities each day, booked us a wine tasting, and always made sure we had what we needed. She even arranged to get me some Powerade when I was feeling ill. She had the answers to all my questions and helped us so much. Freddy operated a mezcal / gin station at the Akumart event. He put effort and care into what he made - and it resulted in the best drinks I had all week. He was also super friendly and loved what he did. I was disappointed we didn't see him more at other events! The whole entertainment team was excellent. I wish I could name everyone, but really every single person from the team did a fantastic job. Alejandro, Max, David, the list goes on. We really enjoyed the pool volleyball, the wine tasting, the karaoke night, and the movie trivia. We hung out at the front pool and found the activities to be great. Our pool concierges Antonio and Osuna made the trip great. We already knew Antonio from our previous visits, but we also got to know Osuna on this trip. Both always made sure we had everything we needed. The whole breakfast staff at Market Cafe was wonderful. I had Mexican breakfast items everyday. I loved the chilaquiles, empanadas, sopes, and chimichangas. Everything was done so well! The service staff at the restaurants was always fantastic. I wish I could remember everyone's names. Julio at the French restaurant was great. Both servers we had for our 2 visits to the Italian restaurant were wonderful. I do have some suggestions to the resort, which I believe could help the resort improve even more! These aren't complaints, but just suggestions! - On our last visit, we really enjoyed the "drink stands" by the main pool /Oceana that offered particular kinds of drinks by day. They offered fresh fruit and sometimes higher quality liqours. We didn't see any of those on this trip. I would love to see them return! - This one is minor! My wife loves a chocolate dessert but she doesn't really like fruit. She had trouble ordering from any of the desert menus at the restaurants because almost all of the chocolate deserts had fruit. Maybe include a few that don't. - I believe the resort has an opportunity to focus more on the quality of their cocktails in certain bars, OR create one separate cocktail bar that has more of a "craft cocktail" / mixologist vibe. For me, the lime juice mix and the sweet fruit purees work for drinks by the beach, but sometimes I want something that is higher quality. The lobby bar is probably the best place for this. For instance: muddle fresh fruit instead of using purees, offer "specialty cocktails" that aren't just sweet mixed drinks for the pool, and put more of a handcrafted feel into these drinks. This is just a suggestion, but I believe it would go a long way!
- heartluvmexico (10/5): The happiest place on earth just got a new name, Akumal! - This was our twelfth stay at Akumal and we were excited to experience new things and are amazed that this trip could possibly be better than any of our previous trips. Check in was fast. We get there before the normal check in hours of three and always pack a bag with our swim suits and sunscreen that we can grab out of our luggage to head to the beach and start enjoying the day. The grounds are stunning with all the foliage. Especially if you're coming from a dormant winter scape at home. The rooms are comfy and we enjoyed every meal. Our favorites are Market Cafe, Portofino, Himitsu, and Sea Side. We had a bali bed one day. This was new for us and I highly recommend it. It was more relaxing than I thought was possible. I love the vendors at the beach. They're not pushy and I always find gifts for myself or others. We like to splurge on a bottle or two of wine so that we may enjoy a private dinner in the corner at Portofino. There are so many different areas with different ambiances at the pools and beach so you can create the perfect day for yourself. Don't hesitate to ask a concierge if you need assistance finding a spot. The entertainment team provides endless laughs during the activities. Pack tennis shoes and arrive early for the bike tour. This is our favorite activity as they take you to Yal-ku lagoon. It is the people here that make this resort the magical place that it is, and I would like to mention all the wonderful people who made this trip so special for us, although I am sure I have missed a few. Thank you Gil, Jamie/Jimmie, Karen, Damiem, and Rut at Seaside. I appreciate Marysol, Marisol, and Edmondo, at Market Cafe. The coconut shrimp at Oceana was excellent Michelle and Santiago. Way to keep the drinks flowing Miguel and Arturo. Alexis at Portofino, your service was excellent. Chefs William and Ismael, so happy to have met you. Good day to the best concierge crew Osuna, Jose, Antonio, Augustin, Alajandro, and Issac. Fernando at Himitsu, thank you for recognizing that I was cold and uncomfortable. Going to get me a wrap was the kindest of gestures and I am truly grateful. Our hibachi dinner with Diego, Aryen, and I think her name was Vanessa was delicious. Metz and Cesar, thank you for making us feel at home. To the many servers, Cruz, Sharon, Israel, Bastilio, Hector, Felipe, Alberto, Francisco, and their leader, Antonio.....see you next time!
