Guest Reviews
- harkirtan (2/5): - We never stay in this facility, they canceled our booking before we reached there, had to find new hotels at the last minute
- Joanne (2/5): - Filthy and smelled of mold. Beware. No refund
- guanghu (2/5): - Very dirty with a dead rotten mouse in the kitchen sink. Living room Smells bad. Floor not properly cleaned. Blanket looks dirty and smells bad. There was scraps of food and other garbage on the sofa.
This property should be delisted.
- peter Jon (10/5): - Tom was a pleasure to deal with. We’d stay again.
- Rola (8/5): - We had a great couple days there and then decided to stay a extra night..we will be back
- trudy (2/5): - For 3 days the price was okay, however the website said there is a fridge, dishwasher, and WIFI with the ability to sign in to my Netflix account.
The fridge, wifi and dishwasher was not working day 1, the manager was able to fix the wifi but the fridge was replaced a day later so lots of food was dethawed and warm.
The dishwasher was never fixed.
The smell in the cottage was horrible like spoiled eggs, my husband said it smelt like sex and cigarettes...
The BBQ we did not use because it looked like it had rat feces in it.
There was underwear and and Empty can of monster in the single bed room dresser day 1.... It did not feel clean.
There was a Brocken trampoline .... Such a downer for the kids why even have it there...
Tom was kind and tried his best but the expectation is that the cottage is well maintained, that's what I paid for!
- Amr (10/5): - location, cleanliness, space
- cindy (10/5): - Cottage was very clean and cozy. Had bbq and place to sit outdoors with Adirondack chairs and fire pit. No coffee maker or toaster but otherwise, kitchen had everything you need for stay.
- CHRISTINE (10/5): - Beautiful spot peacful, close to the beach , close to shopping and very reasonable price, stagf were very accommodating. Thanks Tom for a great holiday we will be back!
- Lori (10/5): Had a great stay! - Stayed 2 nights July 4/5, place was clean, absolutely no issues! Ppl were great, everything we needed was there (byob) had a great fire both nights.. property was well kept, 1 chair outside was cracked and it was replaced immediately, would def book here again! Amir and Tom were great hosts. Thx guys!
- Jade (6/5): - We had cabin 5, it was great that we had the firepit right outside.. I’m not sure if any other cabins had them. Cabin 4 beside us joined in for the fires as well, it was great to meet new people!
Cabin 5 is 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twins in the other. You also have a pull out couch. You NEED to remember sheets/blankets/pillows. As well as all other necessities etc. toilet paper, paper towel, towels for bathing/kitchen, dish soap, garbage bags.. There were a few pots/pans and dishes/utensils.
Overall was a good stay, a quick walk to Port Elgin Main Beach, we drove to Sauble Beach (20 mins away).
- Brigitte (2/5): - Pictures and description was deceiving. Air conditioning didn’t work, no bedding, no pillows, no toilet paper, no rags to wash dishes, microwave didn’t work, outside property was a mess nothing like the pictures, no garbage bags, not enough hot water for a short shower.
- Alysha (10/5): - It was perfect for our little weekend getaway for a baseball tournament.
- Tiffany (6/5): - This property was sufficient for my short stay. The ad listing did not state the need to bring linens, toiletries or kitchen soap (it didn't even have hand soap in the bathroom). There were no garbage cans in the property, thankfully I had a bag. They were accommodating to my dogs and it was private.
- Corey N (8/5): - We liked how close it was to the lake within walking distance
- Janice L (6/5): - The property is well located, a short walk to the lake.
The kitchen is well stocked, however you do need to bring all linens including dish towels etc.
The mattresses on the bed were not comfortable.
The property manager was helpful and checked to see if everything was good..
- Michelle (6/5): - Great location and clean. Appreciated the kitchen and layout of the cabin.
- Jenn (8/5): - We stayed for an off season weekend which was quiet and relaxing. The cottage itself very clean, fireplace burner needs replacing and would have been excellent because of the chilly weather. Full kitchen, remember to bring not only food, you need to bring toilet paper, dish cloths, dish soap. Luckily there are stores nearby. Loads of hot water.
The staff on site very helpful and accommodating upon our arrival.
In summer season, definitely a lovely spot so close to the beach and port.
- sheri-lynne (8/5): - I love this cottage park, not my first stay. Minor problem with some (very small amount) of mold in my bedroom. Not noticeable to anyone else but I am allergic so it did make it hard for me to sleep. Wifi is spotty and cell phone signal is poor.
Other than that the cottage was lovely. Nice space with lots of room for everyone. Well located with a splash pad and park across the street, fishing very close, and a beach a short walk away.
Would still stay again but will bring my air filter with me.
- Sheryl (2/5): - Mouldy smell, cob webs, mice feces, floor looks clean but when you dont use slippers your feet will looks so dirtyblack in color so ww have to wipe the floor.management is helpful when ask for help and friendly.close to grocery and nice beaches
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very uncomfortable Stay - We stayed in cottage and after day 1 we relized there were people staying in the basement and we were not informed of this...needless to say we were very uncomfortable..They where in and out all night long so we did not sleep. No windows locked..locks on doors not so good..cottaged reaked of smoke and not very clean.
- Randy (2/5): - Manager seemed friendly and helpful .
Cabin was heavy with odour and mould.
Condition of cabin was a 2 out of 10 with door lock weak and loose , hair ball in shower drain , no WIFI as per cabin and many spider webs and insects inside .
Generally , needs to be updated and a heavy cleaning and deodorizing .
- Wendy (6/5): - People running the property were great.
- Tarad (6/5): - The kids love the trampoline
- Michelle (8/5): - Conveniently close walking distance to beach and walking/bike path along lake. Management is friendly and easy to talk to .
- Amr (6/5): -
- Brandon (8/5): - It was a quiet little cozy place to stay, very close to the beach and walking paths.
- Matthew (10/5): - Tom really makes the stay, he is excellent to deal with and he is really good with kids; the cottages are housekeeping cottages. The family and I really enjoyed our stay it was really relaxing, bring your own bedsheets and towels. The beach is nearby and if you have need for any information or issues call tom
- Subhanshu (2/5): - Dirty mattress, spider webs all over walls and begs many more
- Sharon (10/5): - Tom was very friendly and helpful. It is super close to the beach and if you want to watch the sunset just down the street. if you have small kids right near a splash pad. if you cycle right on the saugeen shore bike path. We had a great time!
- Karly (10/5): -
Outstanding service! Tom was attentive and helpful, making my families experience exceptional. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family! Thank you again Tom!!
- Arsen (10/5): - Absolutely the best sunset to see on the North Shore a
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Communication and pricing were great but the cottage was very dirty. Only had one pillow.
- Michele (10/5): - Small cottage just big enough for you to relax, staff very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and relaxing
- Dawn (10/5): - Great location. Very close to the beach. A 5 minute drive but very walkable. Great place to watch the sunset right up the street. A lovely walking trail across from the property. Cottage was cozy, property was nice. Tom was awesome. Very helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice cottage - Great experience
- Lana-Dale (6/5): - Tom was wonderful. He made our vacation very enjoyable by being available to us when we needed him. He works hard to keep customers happy. We witnessed it with other vacationers as well. The cabins are pretty but could use some updating. Couch was not useable but chair and beds were comfortable.
- tammy (8/5): - Everything was great expect run out of hot water very quickly while showering.
Tom is very nice and very accommodating if you need anything
- Sandra (10/5): - The manager is very friendly. The cottage was perfect for what we needed it for.
- Ewa (10/5): North Shore Cottages - We had a very pleasant stay at North Shore Cottages. The accommodations are very basic and rustic, but everything was in working order and clean. The location is great for families, it's directly across the street from a splash pad, playground and walking trails, and a beach is a couple minutes away. My older kids enjoyed a lot of freedom exploring on their own. It would be great for biking too.
Communication with the owner was always polite and pleasant. I was also very pleasantly surprised at how quiet the area was at night.
Overall, I recommend this stay, especially for families looking for a simple and quiet get away at a reasonable price. I would also strongly recommend to bring your own bedding and towels. We will be back!
- Lisa (10/5): - I was looking for a place to stay for 1 night with the kids. We rented cottage #2. It was exceptionally clean, cozy, adorable and affordable. Great location right across from the water. The cottage had everything we needed. The man running the place was super friendly and very attentive to our needs. The kids loved it and we will definitely go here again ❤️
- Kathryn (8/5): - Unbeatable location across from North Shore Park. Just a few steps to the harbor and excellent sunset-watching location. It worked well for our purposes.
Our cottage was very basic, pretty old, but clean. A coat of paint wouldn't hurt. The entire property is for sale, which was a little disconcerting.
Tom, the property manager, was very responsive.
- Lorraine (6/5): - Good location. North Shore Cottages is in close proximity to walk to Harbour Marina park/Beach in Port Elgin. Central spot for driving to Southampton or Sauble Beach.
You can pay the same amount of money and stay at the Quality Inn down the road in South Hampton and have a clean spacious room, without cigarette butts in the window frame, somebody else’s garbage in your room, and management that actually know you’re arriving when you’re supposed to.
The plus side - great location, quiet, great shower, pressure and hot water as long as you don’t mind the stains and mildew in the bottom of the shower stall
Great TV and cable
Internet works great even though the Wi-Fi password did not work at all
Air conditioning works like a champ
Cute, gas fireplace I suppose if it gets cold
Would I stay there again? Only if I was desperate
- Linda (10/5): - More rustic than expected. Drove through a lovely area and then arrived here - old mattresses lying in a trailer, weeds all over the place, NO BED LINEN OR TOWELS which we had not been advised, card board around he AC window, hole in fly screen, bathroom window not secure - think you get the picture. There was no sign to an office, we had to go and knock on a door. Yes it was certainly an authentic Canadian log cabin as the owner told us.
- Charlotte (8/5): - Close to the beach, friendly, helpful staff!
- Belrose (8/5): - Had a great time in the cottage, we had cottage number one , but it was a little dirty. We fine the bed very comfortable.
- Kelsey (6/5): - About a ten minute walk from the main beach where you can swim.
- Marianne (2/5): - For the amount charged - should have been a 5-star property!
Noisy refrigerator, noisy inefficient air conditioner. Why was the fireplace on? By the time I realized it was on, too late in the evening to find someone. No-one came by to ask if everthing ok etc. Or information on how/when to reach owner/manager.
- Dan (10/5): - Nice little cottage...Tom was a nice friendly guy.
- Shahid (6/5): - Nice location but lack of amenities.
- Hanna (8/5): - Need pillows
Need toilet papers
- Kirsty (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin had the basics needed to cook our meals. We brought blankets but there were enough in the cabin to get by had we forgotten. Tom was amazing and great to communicate with. Will stay again if we are in the area
- Erika (10/5): - It was our first time in this area, and we loved it! It's so quiet and nice. There are so much to do as a family, like parks, the lake is right in front just crossing the street. It's a little town, but u can fine anything u need.
Tom, the owner was super friendly and makes us feel like home.
I would definitely recommend this place and for sure we'll come here for our next vacations.
- Tango (10/5): - Fair price and flexibility by the owners made our stay fantastic.
- Chris (10/5): Great place - Great place to stay , friendly staff very attentive. Close to water . Private and clean.
I would come back :)
- Rose (10/5): - Great location. Accommodation was so nice. Great for family and big group. We really enjoyed our stay at North Shore Cottages.
- ana (6/5): - Basic accommodations!
Friendly staff!
- Jenifer (10/5): - Perfect
- Christopher (10/5): - Excellent stay ! Love the location and how clean everything was!
- marco (10/5): - Place was clean and the location is great!!! Everyone was friendly and helpful. We'll be back next year.
- kevin (10/5): - The staff were friendly and the cottage was clean. Didn't see any bugs inside and would definitely stay here again.
- Dilshad (6/5): - I asked for bedding and got few but only two pillow cases… there were no soap in the washroom… didn’t expect towels at all…it was little hard to find the place if i didn’t find someone to help :(
- Syed (10/5): - Lovely owners. Clean property and good location.
- David (8/5): - Convenient location. Splash pad and park across from cottage. Quiet and relaxing. Beautiful sunsets. Will be back!
- bob (10/5): A nice getaway by the lake. - The cottage we had was very clean #6 and well maintained. It had a lot of extras i dont usually expect. Like flat screentv with loads of channels wifi gas bbq and a big deck to enjoy rain or sunshine The hosts were very friendly and helpfull.Tom is great to help with little problems or issuesAlso the lake is just across the road with picnic areas play area splashpad and washrooms.
- Kirk (10/5): - Serene cottage area . Feels rustic and rural but so close to all amenities including beach and park. Family friendly. Must bring own linens, towels and pillows, otherwise the cottage is cozy and comfortable.
- Ankur (6/5): - There were no bedsheets, pillow or blanket.
- Jane (6/5): Great location, make sure to bring all necessities - This cottage is in a great location however I was a bit disappointed that nowhere in the small print does it tell you to bring your own linens, towels etc. There was some bedding available in closets however it was old and musty so we had to go and buy some new bedding and towels for comfort. The kitchen was stocked with dishes but no towels, dish towels or some basic things that you don’t expect to have to bring. The living space is comfortable and would have been better if we were more informed on what to expect.
- Bianca (10/5): - We love staying at North Shore! You’re close to pretty much everything. The beach is amazing. The cottage was great. We had a lovely time. Hopefully we’ll be back in the future! ♥️
- edgar (10/5): - The owner and I became friends :)
- Vinaya (6/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this place. It's a Nice small cottage very close to Port Elgin harbour, lake front boardwalks, and beach. Right for family of four. You have to carry all essential items(Bath tissue, paper towels and toiletries) and bedding. It's close to lot of popular attractions like Sauble beach and parks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was my first time booking any cottage and this place is close to the beach and marina and close to everything. Definitely going back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was perfect for what we were looking for. A cozy little cabin for two…close to the beach!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and place, the property manager is awesome, we’ll definitely go back again! Highly recomend this cottage!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Customer service was excellent. Location was excellent. Loved the small town vibe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is excellent. The cottage amenities are complete. (note that you need to bring your personal bed linens, towels and toiletries). The kitchen is fully equip including a dishwasher, full size gas stove, full size fridge and microwave. The cottage is within minute drice to Southampton beach.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This property is not as described by the pictures posted. Dirty carpet, stained mattresses (I have pictures) No Covid measures in place, it is not clean. If you have health issues don't book! The reviews state how great it is but, I am not sure how the property has so MANY good reviews hmmmm.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bed and pull out was old and uncomfortable. Wifi was minimal. Door was a challenge to lock. No toilet paper or paper towel or hand soap. Fortunately I brought my own. Expected a bit more for the money.
- Sandra (6/5): - The cabin was not properly clean and the toilet was not flushing properly,
- Alfred (10/5): - The property is located in a very nice area. It is very close to all amenities and the cottage is very nice and clean. The host "Tom" is very friendly, approachable and kind. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Beyond Disappointing - The cottage was not cleaned at all which was surprising with Covid-19. The 4 of us spent 30-45 min cleaning it. Dishes were dirty, drawers, table and counter were sticky. Bugs smooshed on the walls. We were supposed to have a 2 parking spot as requested but the drieway/parking spot was taken by a Winnebago with someone staying in it. Thankfully, we ended up only taking one vehicle but had to park on the grass. The grounds were a total mess. Advertisement stated a fountain was on the premises but it was not working and had stale water in it with overgrown bushes around it. Our sitting area outside the cottage had broken pieces, spider nests everywhere and the BBQ had 2 of the 4 elements working. One of the windows fell out and another the lock was completely broken and the screen on the front door was bolted shut. I had requested 4 chairs in the cottage but only 2 were supplied. We had to take in 2 patio chairs so we could eat. This was more like a hunting/fishing camp than a cottage. In addition, the electrical was exposed and an extension cord was being overused. The toilet was leaking everytime we'd flush. This was supposed to be my birthday week and it was beyond disappointing. We do our best to book with you and were very surprised that you would have this location as an option. Especially at the price we paid. I have pics to show what we had to experience and would like someone to contact me who is not the person caring for the property. Someone from here or higher up.
- Rebecca (8/5): - The location was great and the cottage was very clean.
It took us a few minutes to find someone in order to check in but everyone who worked there was very nice and helpful after that.
Some of the mattresses were uncomfortable so if that is something that really bothers you, bring your own mattress topper.
I would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a basic cottage not really what i expected for the price but made the best of it. Property manager was really nice and helpful. Didn't care for the community fire pits though!
- Melvin&RuthAnn (8/5): - Really pleased with our accommodations for the five of us.
It you wanted something much fancier then this is not your place. It was a small walk to the park and beach which was great. Full stocked kitchen appliances great front balcony and to top it of a really friendly and courtesy joking, Host Tom
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Splash pads just across the rd. Beach 10 min walk or 2 min drive. Bicycle beach trail starts near the cottages
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and perfect spot for a great couple of days at the beach.
- Lisa (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at North Shore Cottages. Tom was super friendly and welcoming and check in was quick and easy. The cottage we stayed in was clean and comfortable. It had everything you needed for a nice relaxing stay. It was also walking distance to the water and trail way and the main beach was close by too. We would definitely stay here again.
- Dinesh (10/5): - It was pretty good and close to the beach. They also have a campfire too
- Adelia (6/5): Location is greaT - Very inexpensive. Needs some upgrades.
