- Cody (7/5): Great place to crash. Would recommend and stay here again. - Breakfast was great. Food was fresh and clean. Location was perfect. Front desk staff was also awesome and attentive. Room was very clean as well. Housekeeping also did a great job. Would stay here again. There was no cold water in the shower. Not a big deal, but we were hoping for hot water when we showered.

- 01649409 (6/5): Nice room unlike the rest - We stayed here for 2 nights and we did appreciate our room. It was comfortable and clear. It is a pity the the overall structure looks a bit worn down and that the breakfast room doesn't really make a good impression because the hotel is in an excellent location, close to the harbour and with plenty of parking space for tourists travelling around Alaska

- gawildcats (2/5): A Huge Disappointment - While it was close to the harbor, which is why I booked this location, the hotel is a mess. In addition to the restaurant being closed and only bar food available, there was no A/C, so in order to beat the room heat, a window had to be opened. They did provide a fan. However, the window was broken, so one of us had to go outside and around into an alley to pull it open while the other one pushed from inside. Then it had to be done all over again at night to close it each day. I travel with insulin, and as the room refrigerator had no freezer for my ice packs, I did as I have done with MANY hotels and turned my insulin ice packs over to the front desk to keep in their freezer. When I went to retrieve them at checkout, it took them almost an hour to find them, and I was in a panic, as they were willing to give up. When attempting to do laundry, there were only two working washing machines and one working dryer. Let's just say I made friends in the laundry room as we waited.

- Journey549583 (2/5): Noisy place to stay - Though I have stayed at this hotel many time over the past 10 years this was my last. Noisy kids in adjacent room(s?) yelling until 3:00 am were not addressed by the staff. Also, guests walking in the room above can be heard very clearly so every time they got up to use the bathroom in the night I was awoken.

The room smelled of pee even with the window open, the tv didn’t work, the door wouldn’t shut properly unless you slammed it and the breakfast was disgusting and cold every single day even the freshly made pancakes or potatoes. Other places to stay were full so I had no other options at the time but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Will not stay again!

- Dirk (9/5): Wenn Valdez, dann Best Western Harbour Inn - Geräumige sehr saubere Zimmer und Bad. Direkte Lage an der Hafeneinfahrt, wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick. Ausreichendes Frühstücksbuffet. Tolle Bar mit Blick auf die Boote im Hafen. Auch im Winter ist dieses Hotel empfehlenswert.

Breakfast room is not in good condition (feels like a youth hostel), is not kept clean and bf Choices are limited and not very healthy. Overall the room rate is not justified by what the hotel offers. Nice small gym and decent rooms.

- Fabien (4/5): - The location directly at the harbour and the ice-machine works Far too expensive for such an outdated hotel that has not a sign saying "Historic establishment" on their front lawn... Everything is far away from meeting minimum standards regarding the building itself, the furniture in the rooms or the services provided (breakfast was horrible).

The nicest aspect of the hotel was the casual and friendly vibe. The staff were friendly, helpful and sociable. The hotel had a rustic ambiance. There was a decent common area and nice breakfast. It didn't have a guest laundry or exercise room, but the location made up for that. Overall, this was a good stay.

Television service was terrible. 2 remotes, no instructions, and after getting the direct TV to work, it kept freezing and started program over after it reset itself. However Cutter from the hotel was great. Very professional and helpful Could also install some grab bars in the shower

I had called to ensure a pet friendly room was available and reserved for us when I booked, but when we got there was told they had no record of that and didn’t have any available. Fortunately they were able to move some things around to accommodate us but it was like we were putting them out when it was their procedure that had failed.

- Brandt (6/5): It was good, it is a busy place, older facility but a decent place to stay. - The location is great. It is walkable to the harbor and town. Cold showers in the morning.
- AndyKansasCity (6/5): Average - Sort of a mixed bag. This appeared to be an older motel, so it was rather worn in places. The halls were a little smelly, but our room was clean and comfortable. We could hear music from the time we checked in until after 10:00, but were out for much of the evening, so it didn’t bother us much. I tried calling the front desk about the music, but the in-room phone didn’t work. The clock radio made a buzzing noise, so I unplugged it. Motel staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent. The location is great and very walkable to restaurants and attractions. It’s pretty pricey for what it is, but that’s to be expected in this area.

- Sabrina (5/5): Outdated - Great location: It's directly at the harbour. Everything is so outdated and the rooms are crooked! The floors are totally uneven. If it was a cheap place, one could accept it, but not like this. Also, the breakfast isn't good (but I assume that's what most expect from the US anyway).

Old bread, yogurt machine broken. Truly undrinkable coffee. Thoughtless breakfast room . Rooms are great but suggest to skip the breakfast!

There was a really bad Oder in the room that they must have known about because the window was open. We couldn’t switch rooms because the hotel was booked. It was awful, we won’t stay there again.
- Zacary (1/5): Worst hotel ever! - Absolutely nothing. This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The price was way to high for how bad the conditions where. . We had dried blood on our sheets, the room was well over 85 degrees inside, the beds where very uncomfortable, the pull away bed springs where falling off. The room was loud as in I could hear anyone even walking down the hall. The staff was smoking right by the door and it clearly states no smoking within 50 feet of building. I would never recommend nor stay at this Inn again. The breakfast was awful. The place was just dirty all around, to include the common areas.

Kids or someone jumped and ran above us so we couldn’t sleep. There wasn’t ac in the room or a working fan. It was very stale and hot.

It was rather uncomfortable trying to sleep because of the very warm rooms. Even the main lobby rooms and breakfast area were very uncomfortably warm because of the lack of air conditioning. Everything else about the motel and grounds were very nice, safe and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

- A7010UNjulieb (6/5): Good enough - This was good enough for what we were doing for two days. There’s no elevator and the desk employee was nice enough to help us up the stairs with bags. The rooms do not have ac which I get being it’s not that warm there but there’s no air circulation. Ceiling fans or a floor fan would have been nice. Also our room and a couple others had hot water for one time and cold the rest of the time. View is awesome in Valdez and we could see the ships harbor.

We were taking a day cruise the day after checking in, so we were pleasantly surprised to see our Stan Stephens boat in the harbor behind the hotel!! We had driven all day and were really too tired to go search for a restaurant. Luckily for us, The Wheel House restaurant was attached to the lobby of the hotel. We went to our room and chilled awhile, because the restaurant wasn’t open until supper. ***In case I forget to review the restaurant, wow! The food was delicious (I had halibut) , the view of the lovely harbor was visible from the bar area, and the waitress was super kind and took good care of us. I was skeptical of hotel restaurant food, but this place was AMAZING! (It’s only open for supper…) I traveled with my parents, aged 78 and 82. Our room was spacious, clean, nicely decorated (basic chain decor) and had a comfortable chair for Dad to watch television. Unfortunately, the television didn’t work properly. The lobby immediately sent someone down to try to get it to work. The young man told us when we returned from our Stan Stephens cruise, we’d have anew television and set up. And we did! Worked perfectly! It had been an unusually warm day when we arrived. The window in our room was open and the sun was shining in. It was too warm to sleep. We found a fan in the closet, sat it on the desk, and the room was quite comfortable. The next couple of days, we drew the heavy curtains shut during the day to keep the room cool; the rest of our stay was very comfortable temperature wise. The ONLY reason I did not rate this hotel a 5 was because my Dad took a shower one evening and he said the water wasn’t hot. Mom took a shower next and said the water started out lukewarm, but ended up with cold. I called the front desk and was told a bus load of people had arrived; it was suggested I wait and something to the effect of the water will get hot when it was my turn? I waited until the next morning to shower and I had plenty of hot water. I later learned two buses had arrived the night before. Maybe it’s possible they need a larger boiler to handle a hotel full of people? Honestly, I don’t know, but our stay was perfect besides that hot water incident. The hotel had a continental breakfast with some hot foods, cereals, yogurt, fruit, juice, etc. My parents liked it, but I’m not a breakfast person, so I didn’t find it tasty. But that’s probably on me. All in all, I would still recommend staying here. Very clean and comfortable!
- Jerry (6/5): - The showers are cold and there is no air conditioning. Even though it was in the 60's all week, the rooms get hot with no way to cool them off. The line for the boat glacier tours line up next to the hotel so don't expect to sleep in. The complimentary breakfast was good.
- Tammy (2/5): Not the "best" Best Western - Rooms were hot and there was no way to cool them down. We left windows open and an in room fan on but still was uncomfortable in room. Bathroom needs an upgrade as well, toilet was very low. Couldn't keep a constant temperature on the shower, one second hot then it would go cold then scalding hot and back to cold. 5 of us went to the restaurant for dinner and were told we should go into town. There was an 8 place table open but the hosted said, "I'm not going to seat you there." We left our phone number for a call back and an hour later hadn't received one so we ate at another establishment in town.
- William (2/5): - This property appeared to be an artifact of the 1970s and seriously in need of renovation and maintenance. The bathroom was disgusting. The bathroom door was splintered, paint peeled off in very large portions, and it was greasy. I doubt if it had been cleaned in many months. The hallway outside our room looked like it had not been vacuumed in many days, maybe weeks. The screen in the window was torn so we could not open the widow for ventilation and the place has no air conditioning. This hotel is located immediately next to an industrial yard that is very noisy and dusty. There were 6 tour buses parked close to our room that were idling and pumping out diesel fumes for prolonged periods. We could not wait to get out of the place.
- David (8/5): This was a last minute getaway to Valdez and Beat Western helped to make it a great trip. - Location is everything! Price was reasonable. Staff was great! Nothing comes to mind

- Julie (8/5): - The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Valdez. Easy walk to enjoy the waterfront, museums, hiking paths and restaurants. Due to its location near the commercial boats, the hallway has an acrid odor. It didn't seem to affect the room.
