There was some shady looking people just loitering around the front entranc of the hotel smoking...maybe even doing drugs. I couldn't make out if some of them were employees or homeless people.

- V9535JFkellyh (2/5): Wrongful charge on my credit card! - Absolutely the worst management! They charged $700 for the TV in my room that I never touched and never turned on. They claimed that I broke the TV. I talked to their manager multiple times and she seemed to agree with what I told her but never refunded my money. I will never stay with them ever again!

- Walby (6/5): Hit and Miss - Customer service depends on who you dealt with. Charity at check-in was not so friendly. Told me that my room wasnt ready at 2:50pm, even though I checked in thru the Hilton app the night before, had picked out a room, and entered 3pm as my arrival time. When I asked when my room would be ready, she curtly replied "when they're done with it". However, when I came back about 4:30, the guy that checked me in was much friendlier. He also helped me at check-out this morning; once again, courteous. If your chosen room isnt going to be ready when you arrive at designated time, whats the point in even offering online check-in thru the app? Be aware, parking is pretty limited at this location. One row of parking in front of building, with half designated as reserved for Diamond members. I gotta believe some of the others were for handicapped, as well. That being said, all remaining parking is at one end of the building and pretty tight. The room was ok. Comfy king bed, fridge but no microwave; kinda weird, so we couldnt heat up leftovers from the pizza joint down the road. Even though our room overlooked the airport, it was super quiet. Very little traffic at the neighboring airport. Only heard two big planes in the morning. The gem of the room was the shower. Roomy, great water pressure, temp stayed consistent, and the sliding doors were actually level, which seems to be an issue at most hotels, for some reason. Free breakfast was good. Breakfast attendant was nice, too. We stayed here while attending an event at the Wings Event Center, one exit away down the freeway. Took about 10 minutes to get there.

- rambler (5/5): Iffy parking lot... - Almost all Hampton Inn I've stayed at have been comfortable and cleaner than average. This one was about the same in that regard. The parking lot was dark and a group of about 15 people were hanging around smoking pot and cigarettes, watching every move we made. There was also a car in the lot that stayed for several hours that appeared to have two guys just sitting in it. Between the people and the darkness of the lot, it didn't feel very safe, though I was more worried for my car than myself.

They told us it was the error of Hotels.com. The manager was very kind and understanding, he said he'd contact Hotels.com and tell them what happened. He said we should get a refund. Nothing yet. Parking is very limited.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to the airport - I stayed here for five days for the closing on my mother’s house. It is very conveniently located near the Kalamazoo airport (AZO) but you will need to rent a car to get around. I had some issues when they did not clean the room, empty the trash, or replace the towels for four days. However, once I complained, the room was replenished and cleaned. The breakfast is very good, waffles, oatmeal, and usually a breakfast meat, potatoes, and some variation of eggs. There are a number of small local restaurants nearby for lunch or dinner. The hotel is not noisy, even though it is near the airport. There is a parking lot for the hotel, which fills up when they are busy. The staff was also helpful when I was having trouble with the wifi. It is located across a parking lot from the airport.

- Nicole (10/5): Great place!! - We stayed in the area for a soccer tournament. The staff was lovely, the hotel was clean, the kids all loved the pool and the breakfast! We will definitely stay there again when we come back to the area.

- kelnron05 (4/5): Didn’t love - Arrived at midnight after a day of traveling. Front desk associate was extremely rude! Asked name and that was it. Had to ask for our waters for diamond members. She seemed annoyed we were bothering her to check in late. Room and hall smelled. Wet carpet by refrigerator. Stains on wall. Bathroom faucet was loose (hot side) and falling apart. Mildew around faucets. Thankfully just one quick night. We didn’t attempt to even eat breakfast with the standards in the room. Don’t recommend.

- Marcia (3/5): Bad experience. Never again. - It was a place to overnight This was the weirdest room layout I believe I have seen. Huge room, yuck. King bed did not face tv. Light on only one side of the bed. Most outlets are loose. Barn door to the bath was so heavy , I suspect many would be unable to close. Soap dispenser at sink literally higher than my head (at 5'5") and 3' from sink. Toilet tissue , do they make 1/2 ply now? Pretty dirty. Carpet pretty gross. Breakfast was typical bad quality on paper plates and plasticware. Kalamazoo had a " boil water" order, which is not a hotel issue, but the desk did NOT mention it at all, I happened to read the city health dept letter while standing at check-in. I mention , so do you have bottled water in the room? She says no - you have to ask for it. Really!! What makes me most mad, I paid $180 for this room, based on the name, other rates in the city were more than 35% less, but I thought " these rooms are usually a little nicer".

Our room didn't seem like it was thoroughly cleaned before check in - dirt/dust on the floor and hair in the shower. Also, the doors slam very loudly and there were a fair amount of dogs barking. Pool was small, but my kids liked it. Breakfast was good - lots of options and eating area was clean and updated.

- miguelmO2346HH (2/5): Noisy and Poor customer service - Disappointing Stay I recently stayed at Hampton in Kalamazoo and was thoroughly unimpressed. The room was outdated, with old and worn-out furniture that looked like it hadn't been replaced in years. However, the biggest issue was the noise. The walls were thin, and I could hear every conversation and door slam from neighboring rooms. Poor Customer Service When I complained to the front desk about the noise, they seemed unconcerned and unhelpful. The staff appeared apathetic, and it took multiple requests to get a simple issue resolved. Overall Experience Given the subpar accommodations and poor service, I wouldn't recommend a to anyone. For the price, I expected much better. Unless they renovate and improve their customer service, I'd advise others to look elsewhere. 1/5 stars.
- Simon (6/5): - We arrived at 10pm after having completed the on-line check in. Upon arriving at our room, the digital key would not work. After several attempts, I went down to the front desk. There was no attendant at the desk when I got down there but there was evidence they were around as money was laying out on the desk (which I could have easily taken had I been so inclined). Finally, the attendant, who was outside smoking, finally noticed me at the desk and came back inside. At that time, I noticed the app on my phone was prompting me to open the front door, indicating the issue was not with my device. Overall, the stay was good. Room was clean and nice.

- Robert (3/5): Poor - The pool was dirty. Water was very cloudy. The whole pool had scum on the sides of it. You can tell it does not get serviced. The amount of chlorine was overwhelming. The hallways were dirty. The bedroom was dirty. I will not be staying here again. I do not recommend it.

The couches should have been in a dumpster and the bathroom had tiles coming out of the floor. We tried to change rooms and the young woman said all of the rooms were like this. This place should lose its Hampton status!

- Dr_Xaos (10/5): Clean, Comfortable, and Congenial Stay - Stayed at this hotel for a couple nights while visiting the Kalamazoo area for the weekend. Staff were helpful and polite in all of our interactions during the ~48 hours that we were there. We didn’t have any issues with checking in on Friday afternoon nor did we have any troubles when we checked out on Sunday morning. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a king-sized bed and a pullout couch. The bed mattress was firm, and the pillows were restfully soft. Main room and bathroom were both clean and well-maintained. Not many amenities to the room, but we were adequately covered for our needs. Breakfasts were decent if not memorable. They did have chocolate chip cookies at check-in, which was a hit with others in our party. We didn’t have an opportunity to take advantage of other hotel amenities, but they had a nice looking (albeit small) pool and a noteworthy exercise room as well.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Traveled here with a high school winter guard team. The whole team, coaches, and family stayed here; on Saturday, competition didn't get over til 9:45 pm. The pool closes at 10 pm, and the manager is so nice that she keeps the pool open for our girls until 11 pm. Thank you so much. You made our girls' night!
