Guest Reviews
- Susan (8/5): - Although the property was a little dated, (it reminded me of an "old" Florida motel, which I found delightful) the room was clean with a wonderful soaking tub and very clean pools. The manager was attentive and personable. The place and location was quiet and restful. All in all, a very nice stay.
- Amy (10/5): - Perfect for 3, bathroom and kitchen need updating ( crack in sink, old flooring). Pool and hot tub were clean and an AMAZING temperature.
No clean sponge provided for washing dishes, and a bowl was found in the cupboard completely soiled.
Overall though, I would stay there again.
- Paula (8/5): Decent place, nice pool. - Check-in was easy and the room was clean. The kitchen could use updating and the quality of the complementary coffee is poor. I know that sounds whiny, but there’s better coffee around than that. The walls are thin and we could hear the guests next door. The pool is very nice. All in all, a decent stay for a lower price point than other places closer to town.
- Deborah (10/5): - Very friendly office staff.
The room layout was very functional and comfortable.
- Tami (10/5): - Everything was lovely. Should probably warn people about the size of the parking lot. Thankfully we bought my car. Had we brought my husband’s truck, or anything bigger than a compact car. We would not have fit in the parking spaces.
- Tamara (10/5): - Wonderful stay. They accommodated our early arrival also. Thanks so much!!
- Indira (10/5): Soak, sun, relax, repeat - Matt and crew were so friendly and helpful! It was a perfect few days of relaxtion in a simple cozy spot. Reasonable & with everything we needed. Can't wait to come back.
- corina (10/5): - Natural mineral water bath in your room. We love Carlin Cottages!!!!!!
- Siobhan (10/5): - Sweet spot really close to Golden Haven spa. Walk back and forth to your treatment and you can use all of the pools at both places! The handmade essential oils for the jacuzzi are lovely and all staff were great. Dog friendly a huge plus, even though we didn't bring ours. We will be back!!
- Aida (10/5): - Cozy and comfortable
- guadalupe (8/5): - Older property but very clean and safe. Unfortunately, they do not have central heating. Only a wall unit on the living room. We left the bedroom door open but was still cold in December.
- Lizet Martin (4/5): Extra fees for using credit card & charged extra - Please check extra fees. I was charged some extra fees by mistake and then I was credited. If you use a credit card they charge 3.5% it isn’t listed at all on Hotels.com. When you get there they have a sign that States you have to pay 3.5% when you check in . ** So, even though my reservation through Hotels.com said that I only was supposed to pay $713 they charged me about 5%!! I noticed the mistake and I told them, and they gave me a partial refund for the 1.5% but still charged me 3.5% for using my card! I was given the option to pay cash and they would reverse the credit card fee, but the closest bank is 15 miles away in St Helena and closed on most of the weekend. I try to be civil and told the owner that I could send them a check when I got home and they could just credit the credit card for the mistake and she said it was too late that the reservation was already closed. If I would’ve known that they were going to charge a fee for using a credit card I would’ve taken more cash from home but it’s not noted anywhere in Hotels.com. Not fair and they didn’t really care. I have an autistic son with a small therapy dog and they had even said about a dog fee. Very sketchy money hungry.
- laura (10/5): - Can’t wait to come back. Super clean, a little retro vibe, but all the amenities needed for a comfy, memorable stay. Did I say can’t wait to come back?!
- Julio (8/5): - Great location
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Love it! Will stay again!
- Kristin (10/5): - We had a nice quiet day and enjoyed the pool having the kitchen and separate bedroom made the family vacation very comfortable
- Ellen (6/5): - Stayed 5 nights, no room service. Had to take out trash myself and go fetch fresh towels and coffee from reception. Pool opens at 9 a.m., had to wait for it to open. Parking is assigned, one car space per room.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - k
- Sharon (6/5): - The property is very nice looking. The room was nice but it was very dirty. When we entered there was hair everywhere. We had to wait in the car while they swept instead of vacuumed it. The glassware had food on and smudges on them and the shower groute had a lot of mold. Unfortunately we will not return. Cleanliness is a big deal for me.
- Patricia (10/5): - Great vibe! Great location! SOOOO CUTE! Very clean. Vintage feel. I do wish that it had a full length mirror somewhere in our room. And that the pool was open longer hours. But that being said I still highly recommend this little place. :)
- Vanessa (8/5): - Cute property. Management is very friendly and make sure we are able to get in after the office closed. Tastefully decorated with spacious bathroom. We enjoyed the soaking tub with hot springs water.
- Ogechi (10/5): - Above expectations!!!
- Oliver (8/5): - Similar to a small apartment with multiple rooms including a kitchen. Secluded location on a residential street
- Fiona (10/5): Calistoga Hotel - Nice room and very quiet. Staff were very heloful. Walking distance to all amenities. Eady oarking.
- Maria (8/5): - Very close to downtown, staff was friendly and helpful, I will stay there again
- Ruth (10/5): - We liked how it was within walking distance to the downtown restaurants and stores!
- Yvette (8/5): - Close proximity to town to walk but far enough for quiet time.
- Robin (10/5): - *
- Stacy (10/5): - The hot spring hot tub was super relaxing the the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
- Suzann (10/5): - Convenient to town, very cute cottages rooms were very comfortable
- Y. (10/5): - quiet and clean. parking available and very close to town.
- Kristi (4/5): - I expected more for $325 per night. I realize it is “harvest season” however harvest is delayed until probably the end of October! Places just off the Main Street are the same price you just need to book sooner than I did. We had mild on our shower curtain and the water smelled like dirt/mold. The refrigerator stunk terribly. We had a full size coffee maker with single serve packed coffee. How does that make sense?? One garbage bag in the bathroom and no where else. Spend a little more and stay somewhere else!!
- Nicole (10/5): - Great location - walkable to the main street of Calistoga with restaurants, shops, spas and wineries for tastings.
- brian (10/5): - Great spot . Well looked after property.
- Susan (10/5): - We spent my daughters birthday weekend, and the Carlin was perfect!
- Lynn (10/5): Relax & Refresh - A very relaxing getaway spot. Easy walk into town. The room was clean and spacious. The mineral pool was a real treat. We will definitely put this on our list to return to!!
- ginger (8/5): - The cottage is very nice, but the air in the bedroom is noisy and loud.
Hard to continue on during the night.
Everything is very clean and basic.
I thought a little pricey, for what was provided.
- Lisa (6/5): - The room was super cute, the bed was comfortable and the mineral soaking tub was amazing; however, I hardly got any sleep at all because the air conditioner barley put out any air, and kept auto shutting off every 10 minutes or so, waking me up. It was in the 100's while were were there, so that was pretty miserable. Also, there are no light darkening shades, so was woken up at 5:30 am with the sun.
So, other than not really getting any sleep on our anniversary trip, everything else. was great!
- Irene (10/5): The Carlin Cottages - We loved it so much. Very cute and beautiful hotel, nice and friendly hotel personnel. Comfortable, clean and very nice place, quiet and safe. The hotel gave us free tickets for the shuttle, too. Close to stores and restaurants. Will definitely come back.
- michael (2/5): - The only good thing I can say about this property is that it was clean.
- Jessicarae (10/5): - What a pleasant surprise! The staff was friendly, helpful, and the room was clean and beautifully stocked with plenty of towels, comfortable linens. The pool was clean and spacious, and the chairs and tables were comfortable. I appreciated the little seating areas outside the cottages to relax. A quick and easy walk through sweet, local neighborhoods to the local grocery and all the shops you will want to see on Lincoln. I will be back to Carlin Cottages again for sure.
- EULA (10/5): - I loved my stay here. Very peaceful. Room was spacious, staff was great.
- Kenny (10/5): - There were ants around the coffee station 😒 but other than that everything else room, bed, jetted tub wete great!
- Schatzi (10/5): - Very very clean. Hospitality wonderful. Love the facilities. So quiet close to everything. Having our own in room personal jacuzzi was wonderful! Everything so clean!
- Marlene (6/5): - the town
- Maria (10/5): - Had a wonderful stay.
- Lupe (6/5): - The cottage was clean with basic amenities.
- nikki (8/5): - Nice vintage looking motel motor court a few streets back from Main St. It was basic accomodations but nice for a few nights. Ours had a kitchen, 2 full beds and a bathroom. Needs a bit of a refresh. One of the tiles in our bathroom was broken, shower was a tub shower combo with a shower curtain that just kept sticking to your body, since the tub was so small. Wall were thin so we could hear our next door neighbors very clearly. They were up late and early, not doing anything wrong, just having a good time but it was loud. I was there with a friend and we split the cost, otherwise it would have been way too expensive for a couple.
- gretchen (10/5): - We stayed in the Junior suite with a kitchen and sofa which was nice and roomy for the two of us. The mineral pool and hot tub are great and were close to our room. Short walk or drive to the Main Street. Plenty of towels were supplied and the room heater was quite warm.
- Vaughna (8/5): - Darling little cottages and the mineral water is so warm and nice. My skin is baby soft after bathing. The mattresses are very hard, at least in cottage 14 that is the only thing we found uncomfortable.
- Tanya (10/5): Great girlfriend getaway - Cute retro place with a wonderfully warm mineral pool and jacuzzi that was perfect for our girls weekend away! Staff was super helpful and friendly- we’ll be back!!
- Jianxin (10/5): - Roomy tidy comfortable
- Sergey (10/5): - Great place to stay with jetted tub with mineral water in your cottage, ready to use anytime you want. Relaxing property in a few minutes of walking to the main street, still quiet giving feeling of being in rural area.
- Stephen (10/5): Our 2022 anniversary celebration - Our cottage was very clean. The big hot tub in room was fantastic. Bed was very comfortable. With real clean bedding . We had ample towels. Because there was no daily housecleaning. And no room service between 9pm & 9am. Our particular cottage did not have much lounge area, small table with two wooden chairs. My wife and I had a little trouble getting in and out of the raised hot tub, kind of dangerous for elderly /disabled . But the hot tub overwhelmed any negatives. We enjoyed our 3 nights .
- Karen (10/5): - Cute, quiet place. Relaxing
- Leshele (10/5): - Everything was amazing.
- Elisabeth (8/5): - The room was exceptionally clean, the in-room spa with mineral water was a great feature. Our particular room (1) was street facing therefore a bit noisier due to traffic but hard to get the room completely dark due to the streetlights. Otherwise it was a charming place with a great location.
- Crystel (10/5): - Well kept hotel and great location. Downtown Calistoga is only couple blocks down.
- Francine (10/5): - Excellent
- Aleksandra (6/5): - Clean cottages with hardwood floors surround small pool and jacuzzi, which are filled with mineral water and added chlorine. Friendly and accommodating staff.. 10 min walk to the main street with restaurants and shops. Each unit has bathtub which one can fill with mineral water. Microwave and small fridge and coffeemaker adds nice convenience. Nice size reusable coffee cups and wine stems show good start to move to be more eco-friendly.
Wish they took it little further - by not adding chorine to the pool, providing non-disposable soap and shampoo options. (Did you know that all these shampoo and lotions tubes just get tossed out?).
- Julie (10/5): - Great find, great surprise…convenient location, quaint clean and quiet
- LAURA (10/5): - My sister and I spent 2 days using the outdoor and the indoor deep pool in our room. It was wonderful.
- Maria (10/5): Charming cottages with great value - Gina at the front desk was wonderful. She was friendly, courteous and so helpful. The cottages are comfortable and spacious. I liked the charm of the cottage design and little details. Close to downtown Calistoga and easy to walk all over.
- Tetyana (10/5): - Very friendly staff and clean place
- Olivia (6/5): - We were met with a warm welcome for an easy check-in and parking was very convenient. The room had a slight smell (we figured this was from the hot springs). The bedroom was clean, the bathroom less so- a couple hairs around. The personal hygiene products were limited and seemed cheap. The room had no fire alarm.
- CHRISTOPHER (10/5): - Cute cottages. Seemed to be freshly renovated. Very clean. Didn't really use kitchen - except to make coffee - but it was there. If I had been there longer than a weekend, I might have used it more. Very comfortable bed. Was perfect for what we needed for our short trip to Napa valley. Would stay there again, for sure.
- joelle (10/5): - Too bad the heavy rain stopped us from using the pool or the hot tub
The big jetted tub in the room was old but very amazing to use
My skin was so soft after bathing in that natural water
- Jason (8/5): - Staff was fantastic. Pool and spa were clean and perfect temperature. The room was very clean and quiet. Nice comfortable property. Will definitely be back.
- Kathleen (8/5): Nice Spot! - Enjoyed our stay in a nice room. Great tub in room!
- kathleen (10/5): - Friendly staff, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Convenient to downtown Calistoga. Quiet with a kitchen In the cabin. Will absolutely return.
- Manuel (10/5): - Everything was great! Unfortunately I had forgotten a complete outfit ($650) when I call to ask if anyone had found it, the response was that no one found it. So, as long as you don’t forget anything, you’ll enjoy it!
- Fred (8/5): - Nice cottages. Lots of room and i really like the little kitchen in them.
- Michael (8/5): - Excellent accommodation complete with its own spa… Very clean and well stocked… The check in was fine but we weren’t given a little extra time for checking out… Staff was cordial…
- Tonia E (8/5): - Room was very clean and there was an outdoor pool and hot tub that were great after long, hot days touring! The local water has a sulfur odor, so the front desk offered us a selection of complimentary aromatic oils to use in our in-room tub. Although the rooms/cabins seemed close together, we did not hear anyone around us during our stay. The in-room amenities were a bit unusual. The room had a coffee maker and coffee cups, but no filters or coffee were provided, so we did not use it. Fortunately there are a few nice coffee shops and breakfast spots minutes away in the downtown area. They also provided wine glasses (plastic,) which were a nice touch being in wine country, but there weren't any regular cups/glasses in the room, so we ended up using coffee cups when brushing teeth, etc. Overall, the room was a good value for the price paid, so we would stay there again.
- Gonzalo (10/5): - This was a spontaneous trip and everything with the hotel was great and cozy.
- Elliot (10/5): Quaint, cute couples getaway - Had an amazing experience at this convenient, quaint little getaway. Easy process of completing our booking on the hotels.com app, check-in upon arrival took no longer than 3-4 minutes, and staff members were all helpful, providing a quick orientation to some local favorites, even mapping out a suggestion for a place to eat which wasn't in the Calistoga brochure. The unit was perfect for 2 adults with plenty of space to hang out and relax - offering extensive entertainment options via the variety of inputs available on the TV, which included Apple AirPlay and screenmirroring for Android - as well as to eat and cook, since - yes, the unit came complete with two burners in the electric, countertop range, a few dishes, a fairly complete cookware set, and silverware in its kitchenette. Two blocks from Lincoln Ave., this property is only a hop-and-skip from the main thoroughfare of Calistoga, which includes the local CalMart supermarket nearest the Cottages' prime location. My partner and I even managed to get our laundry done before our departure, using their on-site laundry room, though the machines were a bit dirty, which my partner cleaned out before we felt comfortable running a cycle with our clothes in it. All in all, no complaints - we genuinely enjoyed our few-day stay here.
- Mary (6/5): - They need to replace mattress, pillows and bedsheets. Mineral bathtub was a nice feature, but bathroom needs updating. Overall it was fine for the money compared to other properties.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 👍
- Pauline (10/5): Comfortable place to share with friends. - Location is close to stores/restaurants/spas, within walking distance. Wonderful mineral pool and jacuzzi on site. Staff very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a great time! Nice staff. And we swam a lot!
- Lise-Lotte (10/5): Really nice cottage with soft beds - The cottages are nice little apartments with a small separate kitchen and a couch in front of the TV. Our cottage had two soft and comfortable queen beds and really good screens that kept the room fairly dark also in the morning. We only stayed one night. The city center and the restaurants are a bit of a walk. Nice with the designated parking spots.
- Dr Douglas (8/5): Recommended - Very nice! Good location, very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This a cute and very clean property. The staff was very personable and friendly. Thank you Crystal for the hospitality. I would definitely stay here again. In fact the day i got home we booked a stay for my sister.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing. Bed could be softer.
- Jason (10/5): - Jetted hot tubs are amazing. Beds super comfortable and a great location
- Cindy (10/5): - I was at the cottages 10 years ago, since then they have changed ownership. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
- Kelly (10/5): - Excellent place to stay, staff were friendly, courtious and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Would definately stay here again and have already recommended to friends.
- jennifer (10/5): Nice and comfortable - Very nice quaint cottages. Updated and clean. Very family friendly. Wonderful to still have privately owned lodging choice in Calistoga! The mineral pool is device.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable and clean! - Loved the in-room jetted mineral water soaking tub and complimentary essential oils to enhance the water fragrance! Not all cottages come with these tubs. Some have kitchens instead.
- Katharina (10/5): Covid comfort - A breath of fresh air in this crazy time. Always open and always welcome. Loved it ❤️
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The kitchen was a huge perk!
The staff is awesome!
- Tina (6/5): Bad experience - Overall the facilities were nice, hot tub, pool and room was nice. The problem we had was the other guest at the hotel were completely obnoxious, drinking and being extremely loud during the night. We were woken up several times during the night due to the group of guys being loud and locking each other out. The first time we were awakened I called the manager but no one answered. In the morning I discussed with the manager what had happened and she asked me if I called the cops, like it was my job to manage her tenants. I was disappointed that the manager didn't do her job to make the place peaceful and safe for everyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The theme of the hotel is somewhat of a healthy, invigorating, self care type. Nice staff and comfortable, fresh rooms with a touch of Calistoga uniqueness. I like their soaps and shampoos as well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The large soaking tub/spa was great and essential oil was available to add if the sulfur smell was too much to handle. The room was cute and spacious for the 2 of us staying there. The pool was heated but we didn't use it. Parking is assigned and a bit tight if you have an SUV like I did.
- Nancy (10/5): Neat and Clean and Very Cute! - We had a great stay at the Carlin Cottages. They were extremely clean and well maintained, and were charming in every way. The pool area was neat and clean as well. We would happily return here if we find ourselves in the area again!
- Terrance (10/5): Comfortable and Nice room - It was a great place to stay. It was comfortable, the room was clean, the hotel reception staff were helpful and polite. Iwould highly recommend it! It was a bit difficult to find as it is in a residential neighborhood but this also meant it was quiet and quaint.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the mineral water jetted tub in our room! The cottages were also walking distance to everything and we got shuttle bus passes too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cottage was clean and totally updated. Our only issue was the Spa was said to be 104 with the mineral water, sadly it was not even 100. Comfy bed and great temperature control in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Conveniently located, nice comfortable large room, well equipped kitchen, clean, friendly staff, lovely clean pool. Highly recommended.
- Laura (10/5): - I stayed in unit 2 with the large soaking tub and it was beautiful and relaxing!
