Guest Reviews
- Yvonne (9/5): -
- Myra (10/5): - The accommodation was private and comfortable. The gardens were absolutely beautiful. Bruce and Judy's communication leading up to our arrival was very professional, and Bruce's greeting was very welcoming.
- Robert (10/5): Gorgeous Property - Very Comfortable Stay - The property was exceptionally beautiful, and the host and hostess were so accommodating and helpful. Bruce gave us suggestions on renting a car (great advice) and even offered to help us return it. I always prefer a standard size refrigerator but we were able to handle a smaller one.
- Russell (10/5): Superb base for exploring Christchurch and the surrounding areas. - Absolutely everything, immaculately clean and fantastic facilities and grounds. Absolutely nothing

- Guest (10/5): The Meadows Villa is a peaceful, homely retreat made truly special by Judy and Bruce’s warm hospital - From the moment we arrived at The Meadows Villa, we were enveloped in a sense of calm unlike any other. The rural setting, with its lush gardens and tranquil surroundings, offered a peaceful retreat that felt worlds away from the everyday. Inside, the villa exuded warmth and charm, combining homely comforts with tasteful touches and thoughtful details. Judy and Bruce welcomed us with such genuine hospitality—it truly felt like visiting dear friends, yet with all the privacy and comfort of home. What made our stay even more special was how warmly our family dog was accommodated. With plenty of secure space to roam, fresh water bowls provided, and safe walking areas nearby, The Meadows truly goes the extra mile to make pets feel at home too. Whether enjoying morning birdsong over tea or watching our dog happily explore the grounds, every moment was restful and memorable. A truly beautiful escape.
- Stephen (10/5): Relaxing comfortable stay in a superb environment - Beautiful quiet environment and the quality of the facilities Nothing
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional - A very comfortable cottage with integral garage for guests to use, and very welcoming hosts. Well equipped kitchen and the outdoor seating, together with use of the indoor swimming pool made for a great stay. Although joined by a corridor to the owner's house, our privacy was respected. We will be back for another visit.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): - Great place and great host!
- Stephen (10/5): Serene stay - Lovely peaceful stay just outside Christchurch. Very welcoming hosts.
- Jeanette (10/5): Perfect get away for someone who enjoys some quiet time. - It was close to my family who I had come down to Christchurch to see. It was quiet and a lovely sanctuary away from screaming children and barking dogs at the end of each day. It was all good.
- Jenette (10/5): Exceptional - The Meadows is more than dog friendly. It was a home away from home for our little guy. And Judy and Bruce are welcoming, very friendly hosts. They very kindly share their whole property with their guests. Thank you both, our stay was so relaxing. Nothing to not like!!
- Daryn Peter (10/5): - Good quiet place to stay with plenty of space and all needs required to feel at home , great hosts and highly recommended
- T. (9/5): Superb - Very nice and helpful host. Good location between city and beach.
- Clive (9/5): Lovely country spot to stay…easy to drive to local destinations - Need a vehicle as a little way out of town

- Amber (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely love staying with Bruce and Judy, always so welcoming. Home away from home :)
- Bonnie (9/5): Lovely Country Retreat - Beautiful and peaceful property with outside of Christchurch. Two-bedroom house in a rural setting is spacious, comfortable and clean. Kitchenette is nicely equipped, and laundry facilities are a real bonus. Lovely garden views and the birdsong in the morning is especially pleasant. Bed is quite comfortable with very high quality linens, pillows and towels. All met expectations.
- Brenton (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was clean and comfortable, the owners were very friendly and available when we needed them but also left us to ourselves when we didn't need them. Can't think of anything.

- Yvette (10/5): Tranquil, well appointed property with lovely outlook. Highly recommended. - This was a beautifully maintained property on the outskirts of Christchurch offering a lovely garden / meadow view. Very tranquil setting and close to a fantastic bike park. It was a great home away from home. Everything met or exceeded expectation.
- Genny (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and quiet setting with friendly hosts. Clean and comfortable accommodations. Highly recommend!
- Nicola (9/5): Lovely, peaceful, relaxing stay. Thanks - Semi rural. Beautiful grounds with indoor swimming pool & jacuzzi. Owner Bruce very welcoming. Barbecue broken.
- Chris (10/5): The best accommodation on our 6 week stay in New Zealand - The Meadows is exceptionally beautiful accommodation, immediately adjacent to the owner’s property but completely separate and private. The standard of the Meadows was far above and beyond anything we expected, essentially it is part of the owner’s home and provides the highest standard of comfort and luxury. The owners are on hand to resolve any slight issue but otherwise you are completely independent, I cannot speak highly enough of this property and consider myself very lucky to have found it. Even though it is a country property Christchurch is an easy 20 minute drive away. Nothing, it was perfect!
- Rhonda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sauni (9/5): Superb -
- Marie (10/5): A truly relaxing place for a five star break away. - The meadows was such a beautiful quiet and comfortable place to stay and our hosts were wonderful people.

- Mandy (10/5): Absolutely stunning setting - It was so peaceful and quiet. A beautiful wee villa in an amazing setting. Nothing to tell
- Jo (10/5): Lovely, quiet place to stay. Great hosts. - We arrived late, got lost, hosts meet us at the door. They were so friendly and welcoming, laughed about us getting lost!! They then took us to our accommodation and showed us around. Added bonus, we were aloud to meet their dog. He was the goodest boy. The pillows were too hard.
- Louise (9/5): Thank you for a wonderful stay at your beautiful home. - Everything was fantastic, communication before hand, the accommodation was outstanding.
Bruce and Judy were the loveliest of people,
very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this wonderful place.
Thank you for a brilliant stay, and we definitely will be back 😊😊 Just the pool was closed 😦
- Anonymous (8/5): Peaceful and outta the way -
- Sharon (9/5): Lovely rural setting, clean, hosts friendly close to CBD in vehicle. - NA The spa could have been operational.
- Rhonda (10/5): Great little gem - The property exceeded our expectations. The hosts are brilliant, and there's everything you need for a relaxed holiday, even for a short stay. Very close to shops but far enough away to be in the country. Highly recommend and hope to return on another trip. I honestly can't think of anything.
- Namalie (8/5): Very good - Lovely property with spacious views of the garden and walking path. Apartment was clean. Lovely and helpful host. Ease of access and peaceful environment Breakfast was extremely basic.
- Amber (10/5): Fabulous stay, exceeded expectations - Loved the pool and connecting garage to park was also a pleasant surprise
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -

- Karin (9/5): Wonderful stay - What a great place! Located just outside Christchurch, very quiet & peaceful location. Bruce and Judy are lovely hosts and we highly recommend this accommodation. -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Coral (9/5): Property was very peaceful and had lovely grounds. Really enjoyed our stay there. - Didn't have breakfast included even though it was advertised, disappointing as one reason we booked the property
- Lorraine (10/5): Simply amazing place, kind and caring hosts who go above and beyond, beautiful grounds and property. - Bruce, our host, was absolutely amazing. Our hire car fell through from the airport so we turned up in a taxi with no food and no way of getting around. He went above and beyond to help us out, driving to get us some dinner and providing us with a spectacular breakfast the following morning. His kindness and care were incredible. We were extremely grateful.
Everything about this place is wonderful. A stunning, peaceful location - feels rural but so close to the beach, the city, the airport. The property is private, squeaky clean, well-equipped and extremely comfortable. I could run out of superlatives really - highly recommend! An added bonus was Brodie the beautiful dog :-) Nothing could be improved. This was a A** stay. I just wish we'd had more time to enjoy everything. We were attending an event which took us away from the property for large parts of our stay. We'll be sure to go back again for a proper holiday to really make the most of the place.
- Geraldine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashley (10/5): Our stay at The Meadows Villa was wonderful. We would definitely choose to stay there again. - The villa far exceeded our expectations. It was modern and very roomy. The beds were extremely comfy and breakfast was lovely. The grounds were beautiful and our hosts were very accommodating and helpful with our unexpected late arrival.

- David (10/5): Excellent, surpassed all our expectations - Breakfast was exceptional, multiple choices of a continental breakfasts were provided, the fresh fruit was particularly good.
The accommodation was clean, well presented and spacious, including our own garage. The family swimming pool was available for us to use on request however we did not have the opportunity to use it having spent our time exploring Christchurch. We would 100% recommend this property to anyone visiting Christchurch who has hired vehicle access to get into Christchurch and its environs Nothing

- Garry (10/5): Awesome. - Breakfast was great.
- Celina (10/5): I loved this place! Would recommend my friends to come too! - I liked that the place was very very clean, and it was extremely cosy and well kept. The rooms were spacious and the environment was beautiful. The hosts were amazing, they explained the safety procedures to us in the event of fire and earthquake, and they prepared torchlights for us and adapters for us. After we told them that we had to leave early the next day for our flight, they brought the breakfast to our rooms for us the night before so that we could have it the next day. The rooms were well heated with heaters and there were heated beds, and the entire place was very well kept. I would definitely come back again. This place was even better than other hotels that we stayed in. They even had extra pillows and blankets for us. There was nothing that we didn't like!
- Nicola (10/5): Fantastic Place to Stay - The Meadows was absolutely fantastic. Everything was beautifully and tastefully done. Bruce was great. Plenty of recommendations of where to go. Hopefully next time we come over it will be summer and we can take advantage of the lovely outside seating area.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naoaki (1/5): Dissapointing. - The unit is spacious. This is not a hotel. The owners is renting out a part of their house.
The entrace has no key and no lock. So the host can enter anytime and actually we saw signs that they enter when we were away. (We believe that the purpose of ontering unit was to turn off the electricity that we were using. ) We did't feel that we enjoy our privacy. I believe that it won't cost a lot of money to put a lock on the entrance door.
Also the breakfast they provided was expired. We should have taken pictures, but cereal they provided was expired more than 2 years ago. We do not deserve to eat leftover.
The unit was not so clean when we checked in. There was empty beer bottles at the side of the sofa and dishes and glasses were not so clean. My wife ended up in cleaning drawers too.
This unit should not be losted as a hotel. More like a bording unit.
- Liz (10/5): Lovely place to stay gr8 outlook friendly hosts suoer comfy bed -
- Jenny (9/5): Superb -
- Trung (10/5): Friendly B&B Slightly Off Beaten Path - A friendly couple runs this accommodation along with their very well behaved german shepards. The room is spacious and very well kept. The kitchen is fully stock and all details were thought of. Take a relaxing walk through the grounds including a nice garden. If you want a more slightly more personal touch to your experience, the Meadows is your place.
- Chris (10/5): brilliant apartment for a couple or family - My girlfriend and I wanted to stay near to Christchurch but not in the centre so picked Meadows Villa. We were very pleasantly surprised by how large and well equipped our apartment was. It has everything you need and more. Bruce is a superb host and cares about his guests and their stay. The grounds are beautiful and the small extras like honey from their on site bees and the breakfast trolley were wonderful. Definitely stay here and for more than one night if you can!
- Phillip (10/5): - The location was quite and private, well presented and the big bonus for us was attached garage with internal access due to wet and windy weather at the time of our stay
- Ryles (10/5): Fantastic Stay! - We cannot recommend The Meadows Villa highly enough. Great accommodation and great staff. You will enjoy your stay here without doubt!
- Kedar (10/5): Exceptional Villa and service!! - Bruce was very helpful and courteous and since we didn't have a car there, he took us to the car depot and made sure we could hire the car on time.
