Don’t pay any attention to the photos, the bathroom and room was not like the pictures. The photos show renovated rooms and bathroom and for the price point, I was disappointed to be in a very dated room nothing like what was shown.

- traveller2australia (8/5): All very good until checkout - Booked online easily with a confirmation email quickly following. Three days before the stay (our first time at the Caleula), a welcoming email arrived with information that wasn't on the website. The email advised of surcharges of 1.7% for Visa/Mastercard and a whopping 2.8% for American Express. Didn't take much to decide that these were way too high so I replied that I would pay in cash. On arrival, reception was friendly and I was given a printed form to check my details, add car registration and sign. Just below my address was a section on method of payment so I ticked CASH, signed & dated the form and handed it back. There was no mention of payment at that stage so I assumed that it would be on checkout. Then I was shown how to exit and enter the motel if it was locked, and how to access our accommodation. All good. The accommodation was good - VERY clean, comfortable bed, quiet despite basically being on a highway, and the space in the unit was very good. Also worth a mention was the shower - perfect - and unlike so many these days, no water escaped to end up all over the bathroom floor. The next day on checkout, I was asked the room number and was told 'good to go - have a nice day'. I asked how that was possible if I haven't paid? Then I was advised that I had paid by Mastercard at 5:02pm the afternoon before. I said that I was to pay in cash as the surcharges were too high. Then I was told again 'have a nice day' as if to say that it's all sorted and that's the end of the story. I again stated that I had replied to an email stating that I would pay cash, and completed the booking form to also indicate payment by cash. Interrupted again 'have a nice day'. The person on reception this morning was getting quite surly and did NOT want to listen, or change the payment. She finally decided to refund the charge - 'do you have your credit card with you'? 'Of course'. Okay - look - that says refund on the card machine. I had my card ready for the reversal and she again pointed out that it was a refund - look! I believe that I was well aware of that. That was done then I produced cash for payment - 'We do accept cash, but it must be the exact amount'. So as I asked my wife for the 'necessary' $6 in coin, my wife started to say that maybe the website needs updating with this information, but she was also interrupted with 'Have a nice day'. The person on reception was certainly in no mood to listen to either of us and appeared to just want us gone. When the CORRECT amount was paid, we heard 'Enjoy your day' as we started to leave. My wife mentioned (not loud enough) that the receptionist was the most obnoxious she had ever encountered. This was a good place to stay, we were pleasantly impressed with the room, cleanliness and quietness, but that was ruined by the receptionist on checkout. Except for her, we would have stayed again on our next visit to Orange.

- JANET (8/5): We had a great stay, and enjoyed a beautiful meal and wines located next door. - The room was a great space for the 4 of us, it was centrally located in Orange and close to all amenities. The bedding was clean and comfortable. We had the most incredible meal at the Italian restaurant located next door. Offering a discount to dine at the restaurant would be an added bonus to families staying.

- Lauren (7/5): - Clean and centrally located. Rooms have been updated/modernised. The bed was too firm and not so comfy. For the high price of $300/night, I expected more when it comes to extras like tea and coffee and bathroom amenities. Just basic coffee sachets and tea bags. I've stayed at places that cost nearly half this price and they still manage to offer a variety of teas, hot chocolate and coffees as well as nicer towels, body wash and simple things like cotton tips. I don't think it was worth the extra price I paid. Was expecting more, not less.

Comfortable beds and fluffy towels! The property is well located and just a few minutes walk to the town centre. Lots of parking. The motel looks a tired and drab from the outside. We didn't receive the accommodation we booked but the property rectified the problem.

Close to where we needed to be for the weekend. The room was as per the pictures shown (when booking). Room was clean and decent size. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was close to the room. Check in and out was simple and straight forward. The fridge was fantastic, kept everything extremely cold. Water pressure great ! The room we had was at the front of the motel and was noisy. Traffic noise due to being on a main road. Next time I would ask for a room further back. A shared service room where a washing machine or dryer could be used (paid) would be appreciated. The weather wasn't great and we had trouble drying our clothes.

Convenient parking and very comfortable beds. The floor tiles in the shows are very slippery and the hot tap is scalding so not ideal for families with small kids.

Very friendly, and also very accomodating to letting me use their staff facilities to store birthday cake for my stay. - Loren (8/5): Overall it was a great stay and would definitely stay again - It was central to everything we needed, we went for a hockey Comp and it’s 8mins from the fields. You have all the big supermarkets very local as well. The waterfall shower is amazing, pressure is excellent. Staff are all super friendly and easy to talk to. Love that we had undercover parking. Not having to pack your own microwave, I’d read reviews before we went and decided to bring our own as the room didn’t have one or a toaster.
- Geoffrey (10/5): The Lodge exceeded our expectations from all aspects and we highly recommended it. - We had a double connecting room and they were both extremely clean , modern and spacious and could not be faulted. There was ample car parking and all Lodge staff were very polite and professional. Also the experience next door at the attached La Milano was first class led by Yad and her team , we had breakfast there each day as well as a family lunch and each time staff, ambience and food were exceptional. No fault , it was a great property to stay at.

Simple additions such as bedside lamps wouldn’t go astray so you don’t have to have bright overhead lights on while in bed. Also not a fan of no powerpoints next to the bed so you can plug your phone in.

There is 2 nice restaurants next door which makes is super easy when you have kids. We had noise road until midnight and it would start again at 6am. Load once which wasn’t great since we travelled with kids off to bed early.

- Guy (7/5): I was there to visit an ill family member so really only slept there and went to dinner - The room was really clean and comfortable and the location great, Nice Italian restaurant adjoining the hotel. Had a lovely dinner there. I unfortunately had a room facing the road so it was really noisy with trucks etc. My sister stayed in the same hotel and had a rear room so would recommend that to anyone booking.

- Jasmine (10/5): Amazing gorgeously styled king suites - King suite was absolutely gorgeous 10/10 cannot recommend enough even the complimentary toiletries they included were quality and additional things like a loofer which I’ve not seen included elsewhere. Beautifully styled and spacious. The queen rooms are of course not as big and the bathrooms aren’t as luxurious as the king suites which is to be expected. The walls in the queen rooms are also quite thin, I could hear a neighbouring rooms phone ring on vibrate for representation as to what I mean. 10/10 would stay again. Staff were lovely, happy to accomodate a late or early check in/out where they could. The cleaners were prompt, very tidy to a 5 star establishment expectation you wouldn’t usually find in a lodge. Reception was a delight to deal with, easy and fluid check in process and were responsive. As far as accomodation goes in Orange this would be the only place I would return to that I have experienced so far. The outward exterior looks outdated but don’t let that fool you the King Suites can measure up to some of the nicest accomodation I have stayed at in places like Sydney and Melbourne. Queen room bathrooms were slightly outdated and the toilets in these rooms simply don’t flush properly due to what I can only gather are water pressure issues or water saving measures Annnnnd I wasn’t aware of any washing facilities although there may have been they just weren’t obvious to me
