Guest Reviews
- Hallie (10/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): - Everything about the stay was wonderful. Location, cleanliness, friendly staff, beds I really only had 2 negative comments The door locks were malfunctioning, therefore my key cards hardly ever worked. The shower head was terrible. Everything else exceeded expectations.
- William (5/5): We paid for a service we did not receive - Location proximity to Holiday World Dear Management,
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding our recent stay at the Comfort Inn located at 123 Scenic Hills Court in Ferdinand, Indiana.
When booking our room through Booking.com, one of the amenities we specifically paid additional money for was the included breakfast service. On the morning of our stay, we went downstairs for breakfast at approximately 8:30 AM. Breakfast was scheduled to continue until 9:00 AM; however, by the time we arrived, there was little to no fresh food, or grab and go's available. Additionally, it did not appear that any effort was being made to replenish the hot food items, or grab and go's despite there still being thirty minutes remaining in the advertised breakfast hours.
Because of this, we ultimately had no choice but to leave the hotel and purchase breakfast at the McDonald’s next door, resulting in additional unexpected expense and inconvenience.
We selected your hotel in part because of the amenities offered, and unfortunately this experience did not meet reasonable expectations. I would appreciate your consideration of some form of compensation, whether that be a partial refund, reimbursement for the breakfast portion of the stay, or another appropriate resolution.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
- Brenda (10/5): Great place to stay - Was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly. Getting to the parking lot was tricky, had to back track. Needs to be marked better. Glad we found the parking lot
- John (9/5): Comfy and quite - I stayed there when I came to get my son UofL. Property was clean, quite and welcoming. Staff was very friendly and the bed was comfy! Will stay again when he goes back next year.
- PaulSFraser (10/5): A Pleasant Surprise Awaits in Ferdinand - We had a very positive first impression as we checked in, guided by front desk clerks Micah and Skyler, who made us feel welcome right away. My spouse and I chose the two-queens room, which was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the hot and healthy breakfast which included waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, and biscuits with hot gravy! The well-maintained pool and exercise room exceeded our expectations. The hotel is in a great location for a visit to the nearby monasteries or to the Holiday World amusement park.
- M4450AMpaulf (10/5): A Pleasant Surprise Awaits on Ferdinand! - I had a very positive first impression as I checked in, guided by front desk clerks Micah and Skyler, who made me feel welcome right away. The two-queens room, the hot and healthy breakfast, the well-maintained pool and exercise room all met or exceeded my expectations. It sits in a great location for visits to the nearby monasteries or to the Holiday World amusement park.

- Matthew (10/5): I needed a quick night stop right off the highway and this property fit the bill. - Location and price Nothing
- Melani (9/5): -
- Dayna (9/5): Highly recommend - Our room was very clean, very quiet (except for the heavy-footed people upstairs) and very spacious. The evening staff person was very friendly and informative. The room was large and comfortable with a large bathroom. I enjoyed the bath products and lotion. I have paid much more for a much less satisfactory stay in other hotels. I would highly recommend this Comfort Inn. I have stayed at other Comfort Inns that were not nearly as nice as this one. Don't hesitate to book here! We were one of just a few people staying at this time. I understand the logic of putting people close together, however it would have been nice to not have the noisy family with children directly above us, given there were plenty of rooms to choose from.
- Chrystal (7/5): -
- Patrice (7/5): Comfortable and convenient. - Ivy, front desk worker, was exceptional. The stay was comfortable. The carpets need a good cleaning. There was hair on the bed linen.
- janelle (6/5): - Location Terrible breakfast, a gallon bottle of cleaning fluid sitting on the breakfast counter, same popcorn in the machine for 3 days, after and diet coke only in the cooler for 3 days...this hotel needs help
- Nickolas (1/5): -
- Alex (10/5): -
- Donna (10/5): - Easy access Need more lighting at night
- Brian (9/5): -
- Vera (10/5): - Give a heads up that they don't take cash 😔
- Sally (9/5): It was fine and nothing to keep us from booking there again. - The breakfast was okay, adequate. The location was great for our purposes. There was an issue the first day with hot water but it was fine the second day. I didn't like the location of the toilet paper which was near the floor under the counter. Minor detail.
- Keith (10/5): Good location and staff was pleasant - Manager was extremely nice Close to my business
- Jill (8/5): Place was good staff was warm and welcoming - Staff was polite and helpful. We had to reprogram our key every time we tried to use it.
- Carrie (5/5): Hotel staff needs to be retrained. - The beds were comfortable. It was quietness the top floor. Men's hair was stuck to the shower wall. When I went to breakfast, there were no bagels, muffins, rolls, milk, or eggs. There was only a plastic fork to get the sausage from the tray. When they finally brought out muffins, they were frozen. It wasn't even busy. Other guests were complaining that each night they needed to get their cards fixed when they got back to the hotel.
- Kawashima (9/5): -
- Jeff (4/5): - Service was bad and area was crowded Working card readers on doors
- David (3/5): -
- Cheri (2/5): Will not be returning, I do not recommend. - No hot water, room was never cleaned, no fresh towels. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for no reason.
- Johnathan (8/5): Perfect location, odd service, but best memorie since i got engaged. - The location was so nice and close to the park. There are no pizza places close, came in our room early but the pillows had some blood, there was candy on the floor, the breakfast crew really complained about how their staff never showed up (did it very loudly), and the pool area was so dark and the water such a odd dark green color.
- Aaron (10/5): -
- Sherry (8/5): -
- David (7/5): - Location. Cheap rooms The breakfast was very sparse and got worse each if the 4 mornings. They didn’t bother refilling most food.
- Mark (9/5): Ferdinand Stay over - The place was quiet, not many people at the hotel the night we were there. Hot breakfast was a plus. Kids enjoyed the pool. The brewery in town was good Odd that it was not a busy hotel on a Friday PM. Nice but a little eerie. The window view out of our room was the lobby overhang. Small bathroom/sink.
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Lavonna (10/5): Christmas 🎄 2025 - The lady working there set us up really nice! She had us close to side door. I had knee replacement surgery and was on a cane when I made reservations and she put me close to that side so I wouldn't have to walk far and made it easier about taking our dogs out! The guy who worked night told us they went by central time not Eastern. That was confusing. Found out by the day employee they went by Eastern time not central. Thats what was confusing.
- Chris (7/5): -
- Thomas (7/5): - The Room was clean. The hotel was convenient right off the interstate but for some reason the GPS kept trying to take us like a mile past it . Nice clean hotel The heater made a loud noise most of the night and the microwave wouldn't work for me.
- Robert (10/5): - Excellent
- Bonnie (10/5): -
- Mia (8/5): -
- Eunice (10/5): - I was delighted with how clean it was Nothing
- Donald (8/5): - Clean
- Laura (9/5): -
- Wester (8/5): - Friendly staff No hot water on Saturday
- AnitaR287 (6/5): Christmas 2025 - Place was clean, and staff friendly.
The room was adequate, no safety bars for the shower, both of us came close to falling.
Breakfast was par.
The motel is more of a stopping place, not too any activities in the area.
Had to call to get tv working, signal kept going off.
- Tammy Simpson (8/5): Quick stop with Ferdinand the Bull! 😃 - Staff was super nice, room was comfy and clean. Location was great. Breakfast was supposed to be provided but no one showed up to cook it the day we stayed so unfortunately the only breakfast items available were cereal, yogurt & waffles.
- Kern (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great experience, friendly staff and good breakfast selections. - Good free breakfast buffet. Staff was refilling things making sure they were fresh. Nothing
- Chaffin (10/5): Awesome staff - Staff was amazing and personable Accidentally put us in a room that hadn't been cleaned, but IMMEDIATELY made it right and upgraded our stay. Manager was wonderful.
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Christine (8/5): - The manager was very helpful
- Rachel (3/5): Gross. - Location from holiday world Our room was filled with ants and there was used bar of soap in the tub.
- Megan (7/5): -
- Chelsea (8/5): Overall completely satisfied with this stay! Great location and clean. - Nice staff. Pretty clean. Great location. Options for quick food around you. Only 7 mins from holiday world Had a room above the front door. We could hear it opening and closing all night. Also the breakfast was really not good.
- Alissa (4/5): Clean and close to Holiday World but too expensive for what you get. - Good locations, clean rooms, breakfast stayed out later than posted and staff was friendly. The TV in our room did not work at all and the front desk didn’t fix it. We also got back to the hotel around midnight and there was no one at the front desk and just a note with a number to call. Called the number multiple times and no answer. Very dangerous to not have anyone on site over night nor answer the phone number left for help. Lastly, the hot water in the shower ran out after one person on our family showered. I asked for compensation for the problems at checkout and was told the manager would call me but he has yet to do so.
- Roy (8/5): -
- Wagner (10/5): -
- Muller (8/5): It was exactly what we needed for one night to visit a theme park. - Breakfast was a little lackluster, but it was free, and hot. My kids left with full belly’s, which was the goal. A few updates to the rooms like usb charging ports, and card options for laundry. My toddler had an accident and we needed to do a load of laundry, but had no cash/change.
- Rhonda (6/5): - The front desk clerk was very nonchalant, meaning he wasn’t welcoming or particularly nice when we checked out. When I said good morning to other staff, I got a blank stare and no response.
There was mold in the shower and the room carpet was dinghy.
- Tonya (4/5): Wouldn’t stay here again - Location Moldy and mildew smell in room (there was mold in bathroom and on door)
- Randall (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay
- Jean (10/5): - The front desk rep that checked us in is hands down one of the very best front desk people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet! Kyndrid was professional, extraordinarily friendly and very helpful!
- David (10/5): - Watch the time zones. Clean, comfy, and hospitable. The property is so close to the east/central time zones that my phone did not update and I should have missed breakfast and been late to check out. But the front desk guy "had a feeling" someone would come down late so he left breakfast a bit longer and gave me a late check out.
- Khadijah (10/5): - I was a little hesitant to book given the mixed reviews, but we ended up having a wonderful 3 night stay! The room was clean, the staff were absolutely amazing—one of the employees must have worked straight through shifts because he was there first thing in the morning and still there late at night, always friendly and helpful. The lobby was warm and inviting. We did have some trouble with our key cards not working when we returned at night (which seems to be a common issue), but it certainly wouldn’t stop us from coming back. The location is great—close to Holiday World and the Santa Claus Museum.
- Silas (10/5): - Room and facility was nice. Mattresses were not the most comfortable, no blankets just thin duvet style bedding.
- Devin (8/5): - Desk staff was super friendly. Room was very clean. Only negative was the bed was too hard.
- Montgomery (9/5): -
- Cristin (4/5): - When we checked in to our rooms we were settling in and there were ants all over one of the beds. We moved the mattress to see stains and candy causing the ants. I have video and photos. We told the front desk and they didn't seem too concerned. It was more of them saying oh we have 1 room left it is a king suite. We said okay (but had adjoining room originally) only one room could be upgraded.
- Charles (10/5): - G
- Brandy (4/5): - ⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing stay – would not return
When we first arrived, before even entering the building, there was a strong bleach smell outside. It got even worse once we walked through the main doors and continued into our room. The odor was so overwhelming it gave me a headache and made my throat hurt. We asked to move rooms, and the second floor was slightly better, but the smell was still noticeable.
The room itself had multiple issues. The microwave did not work, the armchair was not very clean, and the office chair at the desk would not stay up — it would slowly sink all the way to the floor every few seconds. The beds were extremely hard, and the feather pillows were so small and uncomfortable that they felt like little rocks. The comforters even had stains on them.
The bathroom water temperature was great — nice and hot — but the water pressure in the shower was terrible. It’s also ridiculous that there’s no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Because of this, you have to keep the bathroom door closed or the steam sets off the fire alarm — which is exactly what happened at 5:30 AM on the day we were leaving, waking everyone up.
The cleanliness throughout the hotel was very poor. The dining area was covered in syrup — on the tables and all over the floor. The elevator had popcorn in it the first day and was never cleaned. Later, there were wrappers and even spilled coffee in the elevator and by the front entrance doors, none of which were ever cleaned up during our sta
- William (10/5): - Convenient
- David (2/5): - This place should be pulled off of Orbitz. Hard to imagine this place has a certificate of occupancy.
Wi-Fi sucked, sometimes ok, sometimes sucked bad. I measured less than 1 Mbps upload/download at times using Internet speed tests.
The bathroom door had to remain shut all the time otherwise the fire alarm will go off (as per the permanent sign on the bathroom door). Not a temporary problem. The fire alarm goes off from the humidity in the shower - so they ordered signs that were permanently attached to the bathroom door. So the heat/AC for the room does not control the temperature in the bathroom. Bathroom has no working exhaust...after one quick shower the bathroom is a sauna.
Hot water inconsistent. I was told they had a huge hot water tank, but when I took a shower in the evening the water was warm.
Breakfast was less than average. They water down the waffle mix (same waffle mix & machine that you see at every hotel). No danish or rolls or donuts.
The employees park in the (Diamond, etc) members parking spots.
Breakfast is over at 9am.
- Lorelei (10/5): - Everything was clean. The beds were comfortable and breakfast was pretty good.
- Julianna (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and accommodating for our late arrival.
- Steven (10/5): - Clean, great staff No yougert, fruit, or mil in the cooler. Only butter
- Stephanie (10/5): - Very friendly staff and was able to accommodate my request for a bottom level room.
- Janet (8/5): Clean, comfy, but please read the signage! - The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. Also, the woman who checked us in was very friendly and funny! It was a great experience. Just a tip to future guests, read the sign on the bathroom door. Please keep the door closed when you are showering otherwise it truly will set off the smoke alarm and be heard throughout the hotel! What a wake up call!!! (Other guests had caused this to happen throughout the morning...very loud!)
- Deborah (10/5): - Breakfast good
Employees friendly
- U5505MHcarolg (8/5): Good accommodations, poor breakdown experience. - Very good sleeping. Quiet. Breakfast was a disappointment. Sparse offerings. No waffle makings or syrup. No milk out to go with dry cereal. No oatmeal in the unplugged crockpot. Couple slices of bead, few muffins, bagels available. Worker never checked on stock while we were down there. Eggs were gone. I did mention that to her when she appeared behind the counter as we were leaving. She said the next shift was coming in soon. Then said she could go and start more. She was interested in her phone, not working for her wages.
- GLENDA (8/5): - Evening front desk staff person was very helpful finding a missing coffee maker.
- Ahmed (10/5): - Good location
- Terry (10/5): - The only issue is that there is no sign on street directing you to Hotel! Everything else was excellent!
- Brian (10/5): - Check in was easy
- Rod (8/5): - Clean rooms and great staff at the front end
- Rory (10/5): - I have to say for this small hotel it is just a magical place with great service, clean rooms and good people
- Deborah (10/5): - Staff went out of the way to make sure we had everything we needed. Clean, very satisfied with this hotel
- Deanna (10/5): -
- Pamela (10/5): Great place for a short visit. - My family and I arrived on Saturday, for a family reunion. This hotel was conveniently located and well kept. At the last minute our granddaughter wanted to stay with us, so the staff brought us a cot. We found the staff (Joe, Khesha, and Anna) to be top notch. Thank you for your hospitality
- Steve (10/5): Great stay for holiday world - Staff was excellent!
- Pamela (2/5): Don’t fall for the 8+ star rating! DISGUSTING! - The hotel was chosen because of the 8 star review it had on hotels.com but please be warned this is NOT a clean or modern hotel. It was dirty, outdated, and musty. There was foreign hair in our shower and the whole place had a terrible smell. It’s close to holiday world but not worth it for us. We left early and went to the Marriott in Jasper which was a much nicer stay. I’d give zero stars if possible.
- Samantha (5/5): - The location was great and the staff were nice. Things were very dates, some damage from wear and tear. Our room had ants.
- Jeswan (10/5): - Every nice hoilday. Was nice and quite
- Danielle (6/5): So so - Staff was very friendly. The hotel needs updated terribly. I kept tripping in the hallway because the carpet is lifting up. The pool smelled off. Overall, the hotel worked well enough for us, but I wouldn’t want to stay again.
- Manuel Ramón (8/5): - La piscina, estaba bastante sucia, con el agua turbia
- Stephen (6/5): - The breakfast bar was poor and eggs and sausage gravy were cold. Coffee machine was broken . Staff all smelled of cigarette smoke.. nice shower and beds overall a good night stay.
- Casey (10/5): -
- Shari (4/5): - The bed linens were dirty and ants everywhere
- Timothy (8/5): -
- Ida (8/5): - The property and the rooms were clean, great location. The only issue was the continental breakfast. They need more helpers. The lady couldn’t keep up. They ran out of everything. There was nothing left by the time the 1 st hour was over. It was poor both days. They couldn’t keep up in the breakfast area and there was like 7 or 8 staff hanging out behind the desk and not one of them tried to help the lady trying to keep the breakfast flowing. There were parents going back in the closet and trying to get milk so the kids could have it with their cereal. It was probably the worst breakfast experience I’ve had at any hotel.
- Andrew (6/5): - Breakfast was decent although they were out of waffle batter. Overall strong smell of oil based paint (I assume they were trying to spruce the place up). Decent staff but hotel was really dated. Caulk was cracked all the way around the tub and lots of discolor and mildew on it. Tub drain not functional. Bedding and towels were clean and fresh. I have been to worse but definitely not an 8.8 as rated on Orbitz. I would give it a 6.5 because of the clean linens.
