- Willett (5/5): pleasant place but needs some upgrading and repairs especially with the price paid - Continental breakfast was fine Lock on door was very difficult to manipulate to get into room
The deadbolt did not work
Beds were very hard
Ice was difficult to get to

- BrianS1246 (10/5): Great breakfast! - Great cold winter morning’s breakfast at the Wolf’s Den! Biscuits and gravy, crispy hashbrowns with cheese and onions and crispy bacon. Great view of San Domingo, Lake.

- Tony (10/5): -
- Anita (8/5): - Big room, however, never updated and no USB ports or any modern conveniences.
Continental breakfast was typical continental breakfast, but was as expected. Darcy was very loud till closing time. The rooms are like a maze to try to find and get to the lobby or the breakfast area. However, not a lot of other options in the area.
- Sheryl (6/5): - Clean room, availability and area made it a great choice!
- Robert (4/5): - The area around the hotel looked safe. They needed grab bars in showers. The tub was slippery with nothing to hold on to. The room looked clean, but one bed was wet and smelled, and could or would not be used. The bathroom also smelled of urine.
- Daphne (8/5): Quiet place to stay clean rooms good restaurant!!! - The location was awesome Some of the doors going into the hotel weren’t in the best of shape parking lot needs some repairs
- Douglas (8/5): Good facility and staff, would stay there again. - Good facility and staff, would stay there again.
- RICK (4/5): - Stayed in a suite. Listed a hot tub but it really was a jacuzzi that was in disrepair. The water pump mot was so loud you could not stand to use it
No air conditioning in the bedroom just two portable fans. Really, no air in the bedroom. A window air conditioner in the other area.
All said it was clean and good maid service.
Very old hotel. Very dated. Needs a major face lift. I would not recommend.
- Margaret (8/5): - Had everything needed for a great wknd getaway. Caught a few nice fish right on the property! Paddleboat, canoe and peddleboats all available at no change!
- Takako (8/5): -
- Marilyn (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Nice staff.
- Jill (8/5): - We use the facility primarily just to sleep. Had one meal there we riding side-by-sides. Some of the morning Waite staff in the restaurant Saturday morning we’re very crabby but overall experience was good.
- JEREMY (10/5): - Little outdated but clean and friendly staff.
- Yvonne (4/5): - The property had some serious maintenance issues. Our toilet wouldn't flush and the doorknob had to be replaced and then came off! The restaurant had serious flooding issues when it rained and flooded at least 50 sq. ft. of the restaurant as did other areas of the hotel! The room and bed itself was fine but we paid way more than what we got!
- Carrie (10/5): Another great visit - It's always a great place to stay at, we come up every year for a SXS trip. Rooms have always been clean and comfortable. We don't usually have breakfast in the hotel side but walk over to the bar/restaurant attached.
- Nicholas (6/5): - We stayed here, because everything else in the are was booked. It worked for one night…
- Ellen (8/5): - Nice big room. I liked that it had the bar/restaurant attached, but it had such bad air quality that we decided to drink our drinks outside, which was nice, but didn’t eat there because of the air quality. They had bags outside too which was nice.
- Chris (6/5): - We stayed on the 2nd floor - next to the laundry room. When the washing machine was being used (by the cleaning people) our room 'shook' like an earthquake! The beds were shaking, the liquids in bottles were shaking, it was loud and annoying. We went to see what was happening and found out the washing machine needs to be replaced! I don't know when that will happen. There is a sign on the machine that says not to use it after 8:00 p.m. or before 10:00 a.m. because it's annoying to guests!! One dryer (I think it was a dryer) had a sign "out of order". The first floor rooms have been renovated but are not much better than the 2nd floor. The room was a nice size but the bathroom (sink was outside the toilet and shower) was musty smelling.
- craig (6/5): - My kids liked the lake. Breakfast is nothing special. Beds were just OK. Couldn’t open the windows in the room to get fresh air.
- Shawn (10/5): - Nice staff, clean rooms, great breakfast!
- Kimberlee (10/5): - Hidden gem, lake view did not disappoint. Great food, fire, and drinks.
- Ken (6/5): - Extremely firm beds.
- Amanda (8/5): - The property was great with the exception of stained carpet in our room.
- Darlak (9/5): Was in town for family wedding on nearby lake. Hotel with a great day close to downtown easily walkable to everything in - Property was in a great location and beautiful view of the lake behind it overall great property stay at. Nothing
- Christine (8/5): - Everything was great, especially loved the outdoor fire pit and surrounding area! Staff was very, friendly and helpful! The only negative was that my friend is disabled, so it would've been better if we had been on the first floor, but not your fault, as when I made the reservation, I n3glected to mention it! Next time! I also apologize for forgetting to leave a tip for the housekeeping staff.😒 All in all, it was a great stay!😊
- Laura (3/5): Old funky lodge, smelled like cigarettes and weed. - nothing Old lodge, funky rooms, smelled like cigarettes and weed. Rooms do not look at all like photos on website. Room was on top of bar, so loud drunks late at night. I slept with my clothes on, on top of covers.
- Ron (8/5): - The hotel is older but nice. The pillows were uncomfortable. One tissue in the tissue box. The personal were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was really nice. The attached bar/restaurant was very nice with good food.
- A1227DZss (6/5): Hotel is good restaurant just ok - Room was clean spacious and comfortable furniture. Front desk and housekeeping are great Breakfast could use some warm food but there is a bar/restaurant attached serving at 7:00am. Watch out though. Prices at the restaurant are high for what you get and not the best food. They also charge extra for using a credit card but do not tell you until you get the bill. Unfortunately if you are here on a Monday or Tuesday it is the only place open so you are stuck. Last either an employee or owner had there kids here and they were pounding on doors and running around all day. A complaint was made and it did solve the issue
- Jim (4/5): - Not clean, very dated,
- Carol (8/5): - Nice view of the lake.
Didn’t like having to drag the luggage up the stairs to the second floor because there is no elevator.
- Lynn (4/5): - The property is outdated, carpet very dirty
, beds are not firm.
- Justin (8/5): - Great Northern was in the ideal location for our vacation stay, and has enjoyed a reputation as a good place to stay that's not too terribly expensive. It was the first and really only place we considered, given these qualities.
Upon arriving we discovered that the facility is a little careworn in spots, with a window screen in our room that wasn't attached properly, some painting needed inside and out, and another guest who reported finding what they thought was dried dog vomit on the carpet (and didn't want that to be blamed on their dog). There weren't many outlets in our room (compared to the number of devices we and the kids needed to charge), the mattresses were overly firm and showing their age, and having only a hot tub and no pool or readily visible access to the lake in back was a bit of a letdown.
All that being said, it was a nice home for a few days. We barely heard anyone in neighboring rooms, nor even the bar/restaurant downstairs and down the hall from our room. Parking was quick and easy, the bedding was clean, and the shower water warmed up instantly. Although we didn't need them, there were other amenities that cater to motorsports enthusiasts and pet lovers alike.
- Linda (8/5): - Rooms r spacious, quiet and clean. Could have better pillows. Staff could be more friendly when we were seen coming or leaving the motel. Would stay again.
- Mary Jo (10/5): - Very nice!
- Melody (8/5): - Its a decent hotel. Quiet, mostly clean. Needed to be cleaned behind the bedside table (popcorn and dirty) bedding is older and threadbare in spots. It was comfortable nonetheless. Convenient having a restaurant too. Food there is good, wait staff are friendly and attentive.
- Katherine (5/5): Passable - The great room and back yard are beautiful. Restaurant next door is very good. Shuttle to wedding venue was convenient. Room was clean. Large refrigerator/freezer in the room. Electrical outletss are too loose to use. Hair dryer didn't work. Bad paint job. Mattress and pillows are uncomfortable. I expected a little more for the price.
- Lisa (9/5): Just beautiful we will be back! - Cozy, beautiful setting easy to navigate around the property Only complaint was the spring mattress , needs to be replaced room 109
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay, room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly.
- Christy (10/5): - The rooms are huge! Convenient restaurant/bar in the hotel.
- Christy (8/5): - Great lodge with a lovely view! Checking in was easy and they were very accommodating with our dog. Lots to do in the area and will definitely stay again! Good food and drinks at the attached restaurant and bar.
- Todd (8/5): - Clean. Big rooms.
- William (6/5): - In the morning, there was less than one cup of coffee in the breakfast area and it was only warm.
- Lee (10/5): - Great location. Nice people. Good food. Quiet.
- Sherry (10/5): - Great place. Friendly staff would stay again
- Michelle (10/5): - Nice property!
- Kaylee (8/5): - Very nice place, a little out dated but still great.
- Doug (8/5): Very good - Restaurant not serving breakfast.
- Carlene (8/5): - It was nice place for a small town
- Steve (8/5): - Last minute stay, Expedia listing was accurate and affordable. Hotel is situated on a lovely small lake with beautiful view. Room was spacious and clean. Continental breakfast was perfect for what we needed. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
We will definitely stay again during snowmobile season.
- Paula (6/5): - Ok for short stay. There is a lovely Great room but the refrigerator in the corner makes so much noise we retreated back to our room. Needs to be replaced. You would probably safe money 👍.
- Robin (8/5): - X'xxxxxxxccc
- Cindy (10/5): - Right on the snowmobile trail!
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional - All good food and drink people were great toilet way to low for an old fat guy
- Jonathan (10/5): Great hotel - What a great hotel to stay at has a great on site restaurant.Had a blast staying there will be back
- Joe (10/5): - Very nice
- Jonathan (10/5): - Was surprisingly nice for the price. Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, comfy beds. Better than I anticipated.
- Linda (8/5): - Everything was good except we had a room on the second floor and there was no elevator. The stairs were long and kind of scary. The restaurant and bar at the motel were great. Food very good. Breakfast was good at the motel.
- Lynn (6/5): - The staff was excellent and very friendly. We were in room 257. The beds were hard and well woke up both mornings with back aches so we were tired both days of our trip. The shower head was low and I had to bend down to wash my hair and I’m 5’7”. The carpet was stained and the light fixtures were loose along with the door knob. I’m not sure I’d stay again.
- Craig (5/5): Passable - place was rough around the edges
seamed very high priced for what was there
- Carol (8/5): Would stay again - The lake and fire pit Not much of a breakfast buffet
- gerald (10/5): pleasent stay..i would use their service again.. - ive stayed several times before..and plan to do so again,as need arises!!
- janette (10/5): - Fun place 3rd time been there
- Tracie (4/5): - There was human poop in hallway , rooms were outdated and dirty , bed and entire room shakes from the washers below wakes you out of sleep thinking there’s earthquake it shakes so bad
- Cindy (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and accommodating Nothing
- Misty (10/5): - Was a nice quiet vacation, I loved waking up and looking out at the lake ,was so serene to hear the loons every morning!
- Seifert (8/5): Very nice accommodations and staff, we would stay again When in the area - Breakfast an dinner were both great great staff Only stayed 2 nights and prepaid for 3 nights and have not received credit yet for 3rd. Night. Who can I contact to get help on this issue
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful - room was big and nice - continental breakfast was very good - carpet in room could use a bit of cleaning.
- Michael (6/5): - Bad mattresses noisy motor sounds making difficult sleeping conditions.
- Peggy (8/5): - Just a short day for us from what I can see looks like a wonderful area to come back to
- John (10/5): - Pet-friendly is good. Free breakfast could be improved. Cleaning staff friendly and does a good job.
- Daryl (10/5): A diamond in the rough. - For an older hotel, it is in very good shape. The evening desk person was very welcoming. She was kind enough to give us a first floor room so we didn't have to climb stairs. The room was very spacious with a view of the lake. The beds were soft but unusually comfortable with lots of pillows. Loved the ceiling fan, every hotel should have them! Bathroom was shiny clean! Breakfast was continental but with many choices.Didnt use the bar/restaurant but looks like they have an extensive menu. It was a very comfortable stay! No complaints
- Grubich (9/5): Absolutely wonderful!!! - The Wolf Den resturant was terrific Everything was great and exactly what we expected. ABS
- sam (10/5): - Haven’t been back in years and was so happy to see the improvements they had made!
- Brian (4/5): - Not kept up exterior, kitchen on hallway rooms next to bar smelled like cooking oil dirty left doors open for kitchen in hallway
- Kimberly (8/5): Good night - It was pretty good. Maybe a better breakfast and the paddle boats were not in great shape
- joseph (10/5): - Fine experience
- Mary Jo (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay very much. I had a room with a lake view which was beautiful! The staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable and clean!
- Shawn (8/5): - Right on the water great dinning and the food at this property is very good and fair prices
- Patricia (4/5): - Our room was very damp and only halfway cleaned. The carpet Smelled like mold, and was wet. Some rooms were allegedly remodeled, but ours and our friend’s were not. It was definitely not worth the money.
On the bright side, the woman who worked the Free breakfast area was very sweet. But I will not stay there again.
- Mario (4/5): - The TV in the room flashed on an off every 15 seconds. Asked the staff about it and was told they were working on it. Stayed on a Monday, left for one day and returned on Wednesday and still the same problem.
- kevin (10/5): - Very well kept clean and nice
- Slronhill (10/5): - Beautiful lake, great fishing and you can use their pedal boat/canoe/rowing boat. It can get a bit loud in the later afternoon with bar and patio outside plus ATVs but we weren't inside too much. Rooms are updated, nice lake view if you don't expect anything fancy you'll be good
- Brian (2/5): Not a good stay - Rusty shower, ripped carpet, no elevator, bad mattress, tv kept going out every 30 seconds. Breakfast was cereal and frozen sweet rolls.
- Samantha (8/5): - Front desk lady wasn’t super friendly. The room was large and clean. From the outside we were skeptical, but the hotel was nice inside. Pool and hot tub were not working. Food was good in the bar. We did feel like the room cost too much money for what we got.
- amandajog2024 (2/5): Rude front desk clerk - Friends of ours had a terrible experience at great northern. The house keeping came into our room while we were gone for the day & when they returned back, their door to the room was wide open
The front desk didn't care, no apologies no nothing. The response we received was "ehh I wouldn't worry about it"😡
The front desk clerk was very rude, we were told our rooms weren't clean yet(we were there before check in so that was understandable)we just wanted to put our suti cases in the room & hit the trails, another friend in our group checked in later that night & was told her room hasn't been used in a while.
We asked for an old towel to wipe our 4wheelers off with, they gave us one & slammed the laundry door shut afterwards
- KSO (8/5): Good Stay and Recent Upgrades - I have stayed at Great Northern many times, and recently they have made a number of upgrades. We stayed in room 137, and the carpet and drapes were new. The towels were white and fluffy. The shower was hot with good water pressure. The bed was comfortable. The onsite bar and grill has good food and drinks, and it has a great view of the lake and trail behind the hotel.
- Marmes (8/5): Very good - There was a lot of room. The hot tub was great and big. When I booked it said pet friendly and I also put it on my reservation I had a dog. When I arrived they said dogs are not allowed in suite. But since the booking site didn't contact me they let me have my dog. With a little extra cleaning fee which was very nice. I was in a suite, and the couch was very old and uncomfortable. There is no elevator, and I was on the second floor. I am disabled but I wanted the suite with th hot tub.
- Cynthia (8/5): - The stay was pleasant and amenities were very good.
