Guest Reviews
- Indira (1/5): We stopped by the hotel and they had rooms available much cheaper but we found another hotel. We were actually grateful - The property canceled our reservation the day before we were arriving
- Naomi (4/5): It was meh. - The location is close to the beach, showers did get hot. Bed was comfy. The pool is nice but a lot of broken tiles and garbage around. Having a toddler you have to be super careful. Looked like mold on room walls (black marks). AC turns on at 8 pm, can’t control that. Wifi barely works. Hidden fees and staff woman could care less if you were there or not :S wanted cash said they didn’t take card but eventually did send an online link. I don’t love hidden charges.
- Druanne (8/5): Very good -
- Bill (5/5): Passable - would have liked a ground floor room no table in the room. and no knives to butter my toast.
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (8/5): Very good -
- Layla (2/5): - good area, awful experience, its non refundable but when their card reader wasnt working to pay we were forced to go all around towns finding an atm that works, the pool is very dirty, and poor management,
- Kathy (8/5): Pleasent stay, very quiet, close to the beach and Jose was friendly and helpful. - Staff were wonderful Air conditioning was limited and no shade on balcony.
- Sharon (7/5): Good -
Nada recomendable.
- Jose (6/5): I should have read reviews - Walking distance to the beach A/C only works after 8 pm to 8 am with management determined temperature
- Jodie (8/5): Hidden Gem - Very cute little hotel about a block from the beach. I had mistakenly booked a room without a kitchen but the manager was great and we moved rooms the next day. Room was clean, with new mattresses and cookware. We had an issue with a broken sink drain, but it was repaired within a few hours. TV had dozens of channels, many in English. WiFi was available most of the time, better out on the balcony. Each room has a little balcony with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy the view (South facing with views of the local mountains that surround Los Ayala). Pool was large and clean, and had sun all day. There were many families staying there with children while we were there (Valentine's Day week) but there were no issues with noise or loud partying. Very pleasant stay and will definitely come back. The hotel was undergoing construction while we were there (adding two additional floors). However, the noise was really not bad, just some banging and construction materials being brought in. There was a strong sewer smell coming from the bathroom sink but we just plugged it with a plastic bag and used the kitchen sink instead (they often don't use P-traps in Mexico so this is quite normal).
- Gretchen (10/5): Exceptional -
- carlos (2/5): Mando fotos que si me presente - Mal
- Dave (8/5): - So loud every morning due to constuction. And the water pump echoes through the building at all hours.
- Ryan (2/5): Construction nightmare - Location Extremely loud construction everyday starting at 7am. Hammering so loud all day, it shook my room. Couldn't even stay in the room it was so loud. Seems like this hotel adds a new floor every year, so always under construction.
- Jose (8/5): Very good -
- Rita (4/5): - The area around the hotel was definitely sketchy. We checked in and they had reservations for 2 nights which was incorrect and made us pay in cash. The room itself was spacious but there were no towels and a bed was missing a blanket, the only thing covering the sliding door was a blanket that was too short to cover the entire window/sliding door. You could move the door frame if you pulled hard enough. The sheets were incredibly stained but seemed clean. I did not feel safe at all but stayed because my entire family was exhausted and it was too late to look for something else.
Ive stayed in many mexican hotels, and this was one of the worst.
- Espiridion (8/5): - Pool was dirty and wasn't usable
First day of stay ( back in business on 2nd.day)
- Stuart (2/5): - My son had problems breathing during my first night. My wife, a nurse, suspects black mold poisoning which is found in the unventilated bathroom. The picture in the ad shows a complete roof but it is incomplete. We arrived to constructions of an additional floor. We woke to workers hammering at 5:30AM. I ask for refund for remaining 2 nights only to be told I would not get one. This appears to be a very disrespectfully owed company. They would rather me write a TRUTHFUL and negative review than to give my money back. So extremely disappointed. I am hoping Expedia will step in to cover my lost cost, but guessing it is unlikely due to fine print etc. Avoid this hotel unless you like to have no sleep on hard beds and be woken early to noise and risk your your health do to black mold exposure.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean hotel and room. Only issue was with the roosters next door.
- AdolfoV (8/5): - I liked the pool, and is very accessible to the beach
- Oswaldol (4/5): - No security and not profesional no body and reception
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Great location near beach, quiet and close to town. Great pool. Friendly staff. Tiny bugs on kitchen counter every day. Asked for room to be cleaned every 2 days but didn't happen so on third day asked again and all they did was empty the garbage and make the bed. So no fresh towels and no cleaning. Kitchen is poorly equipped - no dish cloth or dish towel or dish soap, had to ask for a coffee maker, no matches for gas stove, no table knives, no toaster. Secure parking but limited space and tight. WIFI is weak and only available near office.
- Marilyn (8/5): - Room was clean, but very plain. Should be noted that electricity for AC operates between 8pm and 8am, not really a issue because beach is 3 min walk away. facilities such as pots and pans are limited but ok for very simple meals. No water stoppers for dish or wash sink. Hot water to shower only but plentiful. No face cloths which is typical in all Mexican economical hotels. Lovely beach and many day restaurants within a 3 min walk. Some no-seeums in early morning and evening [bring repellant] typical in all tropical beach areas. TV is sketchy, Wifi good close to front of building. No cell service at hotel but excellent at beach, probably due to mountain at back of motel. Overall very adequate for short stays but far from luxury accommodations [if that is what you are expecting]. Taxi service easily available. Los Ayalas is a very sleepy little village but close La Poineeta which is larger. Room was small and AC is loud so bring ear plugs if you have sleeping issues.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very bad experience. - The only good thing about our visit was Roberto. He did his best to make our stay better. We booked what the owner confirmed was a wheelchair accessible room, however the bathroom is anything but accessible. It is impossible to get a wheelchair into the bathroom and both rooms shown to us at check in had identical bathroom design. We had to leave after one miserable night and no refunds whatsoever were given. It is a small hotel and VERY loud music started from an upper floor at 4:15 am. It came from the owners room, however the owner denied this and said it came from the room next door. Even is this was true, one would expect the owner to shut down the music at that early hour. Unbelievable! In addition, our kitchenette had no knives, no matches to start the stove burner, no coffee maker. These items were provided on request. The air conditioning was supposed to be available after 8 pm. It was not. We were told in the morning that 'someone' must have forgotten to turn it on. The walls in the room are literally coated with dust. The beds were comfortable however the music woke us up. This could be a better place if it was appropriately managed. Overall, if you choose to stay here, it's inexpensive and you certainly get what you pay for. I have stayed in far cleaner and better managed places in the area for a similar price.
- Eric (6/5): Hotel location good. Close to beach. - Arrived 7pm at hotel - reception not open - had to wait for more than 24 hrs before receiving water, coffee maker, toaster - service poor at beginning but improved after a few days.
- Ra (2/5): Disorganized hotel w/no reception staff - I made a reservation 2 months ago for a bungalow for 5 people.Upon arrival there was nobody in the reception except a 5 yr. old boy running around and talking to us!!!When the male staff came he said he knew nothing about a reservation for a bungalow and that the person in charge was not around at the moment....They ended up giving us 2 rooms w/a reduced price but not what I had reserved originally...Very poor service w/no further explanation re.the reason for not getting the room I chose! They will not see me again!!!
- Pat (6/5): - You get what you pay for. Located near an estuary, or wetland. Many biting insects at dusk and after dark. Internet reception poor in the area none in the rooms, intermittent outside next to the office. Rooms need a deep cleaning, dust in many corners. The room is small kitchen was ok, fridge worked fine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Reception closed. No water jug in room.
Not a good welcome after day travelling.
- Frank (10/5): Beach, Mexicans, Jungle, close to all amenities. - Extremely clean, very friendly and helpful management & staff.
Quite end of town, and close to all amenities.
Great value, 2 weeks this year, next year 6 weeks.
Wendy & Frank
- Brian (2/5): No Health Inspectors in Mexico? - This hotel should not be allowed on Expedia. Our sheets were dirty, our pillows had mold in them. The balcony looks into a derelict lot full of garbage. They keep five roosters that squawk day and night. We left after one night!
- Delia (8/5): - La señora encargada fue muy amable
- Brian (6/5): Good for the price for short stay - We stayed for three weeks and had a great time. We were visiting family in Los Ayala who stay there every year for a few months. Fantastic beach!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Close to beach - The hotel staff are true genuine people. Spent two weeks here, felt very safe. The back of the hotel faces wooded area with wildlife. Great morning entertainment. The beach is literally a walk down the driveway and across the street. The hotel is in town but out of town, about a two minute walk. People are friendly and speak some English. Great location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to beach - Traveling alone I felt very safe. The staff are friendly and helpful. The beach is less than a minute away, down the driveway and across the street. Town is about a 2 minute walk. People are friendly and speak some English. Safe to walk streets in the dark.
- Rebecca (6/5): Quiet Neighborhood across from Beach. - This was a nice, basic little hotel. The proprietor/staff were very kind and accommodating, the pool was lovely, and it was well located in a quiet "jungle" location just across from the beach. We only stayed for one night, but the kitchenettes would have made it nice for a longer beach vacation. It is not at all fancy and the mattresses are typical for a basic Mexican hotel, but it was a comfortable space and met our needs perfectly. It is a few minutes walk into town and right across from a beach area with waterfront restaurants, etc. We would return. The only thing some people might want to be aware of is that the air conditioning is only available from 8pm-8am. We arrived late afternoon and were a little surprised by this, but it was quite comfortable with the windows open and the ceiling fan.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - did not stay as it was filthy, mold on shower curtains and bed pillows... I had emailed you previously to stop payment and was told to call our credit card company. We have tried to contact visa but unable to with 2 separate cell phones. Charges have appeared on my card which we will fight.
- Karen (8/5): Just what we were loking for - The hotel backs onto the jungle, lots of birds in the morning. Nice quaint bungalow with the basic needs of a small mexican town atmosphere. Really enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly.
- Eleanor M (2/5): Very unsatisfied customer. Do not book this hote - When we arrived the room we were shown was not what we thought we had booked. Daniel offerednto upgrade us for 300 pesos, that made the rate almost double. We negotiated a 200 peso increase and moved to another room on the majn floor overlooking an emptynyard with decaying buildings on the north side. When we closed the curtains thar night they were filthyb withba safett pin holding a hole shut. The fridge ran but did not refriderate. We spoke to the managers sun, Daniel the next morning and explajns all the defects. Sjnce we had paid the full 3 nights as well as the extra 600 pesos we acepeted the offer of any rooom we wanted. Another couple had paid for 3 nights, was offered the upgrade of 300 pesos but chose to leave after 2 days. A young couple were told that the dollars they had paid to paypal had not been received and told they must pay the full amount owing. This facility should not be listed in hotels.com.!!!
