Our credit card was charged almost $700usd by mistake This was refunded after 4 days however our bank charged us a Aud $25 fee. The hotel refused to refund this as they did not charge it. I tried to explain that had they not charged our card originally we would not incurred the fee but they refused to refund the back charge.

The staff go out of their way to demonstrate hospitality, and the facilities are first class.

InveterateExplorer (4/5): An egregiously mediocre hotel! - Everything about this hotal disappointed. Arriving late, the front desk staff was slow, robotic and unwelcoming. My room was worn and musty and the bed was in need if replacement. The restaurants here were just awful—very slow szrvice, badly prepared food made with poor quality produce. The hotel is seaside but you’d never swim in this dirty water.all of this and Hyatt dares to charge rich world prices for a substandard experience nit worthy of Hyatt’s reputation. Give this place a niss!!!

He engaged with our kiddo and taught us more about the lovely Maasai people. This is a 5 star property but Kairanga is what really made this experience memorable.

The building used to be a government building and is well preserved with original charm including being built around a majestic mango tree! We were warmly greeted as World Hyatt members days before our stay via email to ensure we had everything we needed. I informed the representative that it was my husband 40th birthday celebration that we were coming for and we were surprised with a bottle of champagne, fresh fruits and a piece of chocolate cake upon arrival! The room was beautiful! Loved the lighting and canopy bed. Every night, there was turn down service where our mosquito net was drawn. Our stay included breakfast which was divine! Fresh juices, Zanzibar coffee , coconut water in the coconut ! And an amazing spread of food! Fauzi assisted us with everything we needed! We also had dinner at the restaurant both nights. When you eat outside, the stonetown cats will beg for food but the waiters clear them away best as possible. I felt very safe at this hotel and it was very close to everything in stone town! We could walk anywhere ! It’s also right on the beach where locals gather to swim. We had an amazing stay here! Also loved the deep soaking bathtub!! We woke up to chanting from the local mosques around 5:15 am which was a good wake up for me to start the day. I will always remain loyal to Hyatt. They are a consistent hotel brand!

zoecM9439LF (10/5): A Wonderful Family Stay in Zanzibar - We stayed at Park Hyatt Zanzibar for three nights as a family, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The beachfront location in Stone Town is beautiful — the ocean views and changing tides made every day feel special. It is honestly one of the most stunning beaches we have experienced. Traveling with a child, we especially appreciated how welcoming and comfortable the team made us feel. The service was warm and genuine, and both the dining and overall atmosphere were excellent. The hotel has a distinctive style that makes it stand out among other Hyatt properties we’ve stayed in. We are very happy we chose to spend these days here and hope to return one day — perhaps next time with friends. Highly recommended for families visiting Zanzibar.

We should’ve stayed here even though it was more expensive. Beautiful verandah overlooking the Zanzibar channel for meals and drinks, pool at one end, unobstructed views of the sunsets. The hotel’s common areas are gorgeous and we enjoyed just walking around the property and looking at it. Stunning woodwork!

The only small annoying thing is that the beach is not private to the hotel, so theres a lot of fishing boat and random people on the beach. Grounds were beautiful, we were upgrade to a large suite, not something we had requested but appreciated the gesture. Location is excellent for exploring Stonestown. Breakfast was delicious was made order eggs and barista (and fresh coconut water). Definitely a luxurious stay for us and we were sad to leave. Highly recommend this gorgeous hotel and their wonderful staff.

Ariba (4/5): - The customer service specially at the reception truly lacks the skills to deal with customers pleasantly. In our extremely short stay of 1 day we were truly dissapointed. Small things like we needed help with an adapter or needed logistical support for a tour booked with the hotel and the staff did not put any effort to guide us. The reception never answered calls from the room. We had requested for a delayed check out, which the team had agreed to and then when we came for checkout they were dissmissive and rude.

Damla (1/5): Old hotel, kitchen did not meet my expectations, should be 3 star. - It is a very old hotel, needs at least minimal renovation. All towels are stained. The fridge in the room is not cold, you cannot cool your waters. The food was not good at all. Some money made should be put back in the hotel, I understand that it is a historical site, but they can at least put some nice coffee in the room instead of the cheapest version of everything. No private beach, there are so many people that will not leave you alone whether you leave from the back door, front door, or the beach side of this hotel. You are surrounded by shop keepers and EVERYONE is just trying to get commission out of anything, really.
cresensian2025 (4/5): Disappointing reservation experience at Park Hyatt Zanzibar - I made a dinner reservation in advance through Zainabu and clearly indicated that it was for a birthday celebration. On 02 January 2026 at approximately 7:00 pm, I arrived at the restaurant at Park Hyatt Zanzibar and was informed that there was no record of my reservation. It appears that the information was not communicated to the restaurant team. Arrangements were only made after I raised the issue, which unfortunately created an uncomfortable and disappointing experience on what was meant to be a special occasion. For a hotel of this standard, I expected a higher level of coordination and professionalism. I hope management will review the reservation process to ensure better communication in the future.

Convenient home base to all attractions/beaches on the north, east and south sides of the island (all within 1-1.5 hours). Being 15 mins away from the airport also makes day trip fly-in/fly-out safaris possible. All hotel staff members were incredibly friendly, helpful, and responsive. Love the historic mansion vibe with all the modern amenities.

We were there over New Year's Eve holiday after a safari in Serengeti. 1) Staff - very attentive and always making sure we were taken care of. Specifically, my son got sick and the staff went over and above to support him. Highlighting Lucy especially for her help. 2) Great location for Stonetown touring. You can meander the narrow streets for shopping, and would highlight Zanzibar Coffee House. I wouldn't go back to Zanzibar necessarily for Stonetown, but the hotel itself offers a good experience. If back in Zanzibar, I would stay for a couple of nights before going to one of the beach towns. 3) Breakfast was quite extensive with great views whether inside or outside sitting. Globalist benefit very handy here for the family. One callout - when my son did get sick, they cooked him bland food special, even though not planned. Again, callout to Lucy for getting that done. 4) We had 2 rooms with my wife and I getting upgrade to 2 room suite (1.5 bath). Great room overlooking the water. Kids had a standard 2 bed room (they were bigger than twin beds). While my wife/I had no issues with noise, our kids did highlight it was loud in the morning. After i close the shutters, that seem to resolve the noise issue (though we do use white noise app). 5) The New Year Eve party was enjoyable for our group. Huge food selection, music, drinks, etc.
boysmomNj (4/5): Disappointing - Unfortunately our experience did not live up to the other reviews here. The staff was friendly and the room was nice enough. Sleep was not great. The windows are thin and the sounds from the morning prayer and 5:30am woke us up each morning. The cleaning people rang the doorbell quite early on New Years morning waking us up again. This is not a hotel for light sleepers. The pool is small but nice enough but there are very few lounge chairs and never enough clean towels. We had a very early flight out so we settled the bill the night before but then someone comes running out to our taxi to stop us and question the bill which had been settled the night before and we had a flight to catch.

The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist, providing excellent service throughout the stay. The food menu was very limited, and the quality of the food was not very good. We expected a wider variety of options and better overall taste and presentation to improve the dining experience.

This is one of those times. This hotel is well positioned; great pool, attractive communal areas, super breakfast buffet, well appointed rooms. As a very seasoned traveller I struggle to fault it. The concierges Abdull and Faisal were particularly helpful. The trips the hotel offers were expensive and we booked via the internet instead. But that’s often the case. Stone town itself is not the most alluring town but as a bit of R&R after safari, this hotel is an excellent option. If I ever happened to be in Zanzibar again, I’d stay here!

I got sick during the last days of my stay. My flight was at 21:00 and the regular checkout is at 12:00. The customer experience officer there, once he knew I have a fever, was kind to arrange a late checkout at 19:00 just in time to travel to the airport. This was the longest late checkout I ever received in any hotel. And throughout the afternoon he kept calling to check if everything was ok with me and if I needed anything. Truly exceptional customer service that can be rated at five+ stars. Thank you Park Hyatt

I travelled alone, and city is safe and easy to walk around. Hotel offers beautiful views on the ocean, incredible Sunset, beautiful terrace overlooking a active beach - lovely for sundowners. Staff is attentive and caring. Highly recommend the Park Hyatt.

chesterimp (6/5): Not as good as it thinks it is - This was the largest, in theory highest grade, but most disappointing hotel we stayed at in a touring holiday in South Africa and Zanzibar. Lovely buildings and location, we were upgraded to a first floor sea-view suite which was kind, but for a couple on a two night stay literally a waste of space. The size I think gave a typically sterile large corporate hotel feel which didn't make the most of it's location. Staff at times seemed to be saying how good the hotel was rather than quietly proving it. We had a long wait for the room to be ready. It was clean and comfortable and sitting on the balconies watching the waterfront activities and sunsets enjoyable. We stayed b&b and breakfast first morning was chaotic. We sat outside, staff didn't seem to know whether buffet or table service and as a result we had a long wait for our mains, fortunately we'd allowed plenty of time before a tour pick up. We mentioned this to head waiter as leaving who promised to look out for us the following morning, this she did and things were duly better. Food was good though buffet choice suprisingly limited compared with some of the other hotels we stayed at. We ate first night at the nearby Beach House restaurant which is same ownership (we realised when we got there) the meal was good and prices reasonable. Better choice though was the rooftop Emerson Spice Tea House we'd booked the following night was much more of an experience!
Richard (7/5): Not Worth the Price. - The hotel, hotel restaurant and staff are great. The Price for a room was absolutely way too high, considering where it is, which is a third world old city with not much to offer. A beach front hotel in the Med or Caribbean, or a room in Paris or New York are less expensive than Park Hyatt Zanzibar.

Le wi-fi par moment était délicat à certains endroits, cela ne fonctionnait pas correctement. Le menu du restaurant était souvent la même chose.

171msv (10/5): Great experience - A wonderful surprise staying art this exceptional hotel. Large and spacious rooms; clean and comfortable beds and bathroom. Very nice breakfasts offering a la carte choices and a great variety of foods offered in the buffet. . Very hospitable staff, from the doormen, porters, front desk, restaurant, lounge, and security. Beautifully decorated hotel and great design in and out. Highly recommend it. . The only con - the gym requires air conditioning.
adamweinberger (10/5): Perfect Luxury Option in Stone Town - We had an excellent stay at the Park Hyatt. Our room was large, spacious, clean, and modern. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a good variety of western and local options. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. The location was great; right on the beach in historic Stone Town. Above all, The building is absolutely beautiful, constructed by the Sultan in the 1800s.

Canterbury14 (10/5): Great location and great staff. - We stayed at the Park for 3 days on our arrival in Zanzibar before heading over to the east coast. The location is perfect for exploring Stonetown. The rooms were lovely (with good air con), the views were spectacular and the breakfast was amazing. A special thanks to Fauzi for helping us with excursions and an amazing restaurant (Emerson on Hurumzi!), it was incredible.

ionuti641 (10/5): Real luxury and an oasis of calm in Zanzibar - The Park Hyatt hotel is expensive but it does not disappoint. It has a fantastic location in the old Stone Town, perfect for watching endless sunsets and for walking to see the other attractions, like the Old Fort, the Freddy Mercury Museum, the narrow streets with their little shops and alleys. The rooms are exquisite, the service is attentive, precise and offered with a lovely smile. The breakfast is generous and varied (we enjoyed the fruit and the bread and yoghurt especially), the dinners magical on the terrace. A bit more variety could be added to the dinner menu, but it's only a small point, on aggregate. Having a private (infinity) pool and sun lounger area means you can be a bit insulated from the continuous (it seems) hustle and bustle of the beach. The uniformed security guards and the Maasai warrior are friendly and relaxed. The room cleaning staff and the restaurant staff are efficient, polite and thoughtful, they try to remember and pronounce your name, which is sweet, What makes this hotel five stars overall, therefore, are the Staff and the Service they offer, better than in many other storied hotels - well done, everyone! We would like to return to this hotel, if we come to Zanzibar again.
helenaw21 (10/5): Amazing customer service and hospitality! - Park Hyatt was a lovely hotel to stay at! The customer service was absolutely AMAZING - the best I’ve ever had! They were so kind to extend my check out given the late flight I had so was able to shower and not feel rushed to leave the room. They also anticipated our needs, preparing water and towel for an excursion I had. There was also daily night house keeping to check on any needs at night. Highly recommend!

116graceb (10/5): Beautiful hotel - I went here for a few days of vacation with my husband after finishing safari. We stayed for 2 nights before heading up to Nungwi for more beach time. The property itself is beautiful, and the room was also beautiful with all of the architectural details. The staff were all very courteous and helpful. My husband, who always goes to the gym while on vacation, really liked the availability of gym equipment. The main downside of the state was the fact that the Wi-Fi was not very consistent while we were there, but we were warned about this at check-in because there was a problem with their service provider. Also, regarding location, this is a good place to stay for activities in Stonetown and to do tours such as Prison Island & Nakupenda beach excursion, but if you really want beach time, I would recommend staying a few days and then moving from here to a different part of Zanzibar such as Nungwi.

The location on the waterfront in Stone Town is perfect, with beautiful views and stunning architecture that blends history with modern comfort. Our room was spacious and elegant and the food, in the dining room, bar and breakfast, was excellent. The staff were warm, professional and always went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A highlight for me was visiting Lithos Africa in the hotel and buying a gorgeous tanzanite bracelet, now I want more! This is easily one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in and I’d love to return.

We booked a trip through the hotel to prison island which was very good and also a private walking trip through Stones Town which I would recommend. Over all experience was very good and I would recommend.

offthestreet (10/5): An oasis in Stone Town - The staff a really friendly and attentive from check in, housekeeping, breakfast, pool, security etc. The hotel is beautiful and has a lovely setting on the west coast of Zanzibar... right in the centre of Zanzibar so easy to do shopping or any of the tours around Stone Town. Food is excellent but expensive versus more other (non tourist) restaurants in the area. Stay there, you won't be disappointed
