- Trisha (10/5): Great room ! Great value - Staff and cleanliness Nothing
- Candice (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Great stay. Highly recommend! - Great clean room. Great location. Great staff.
- Haidsiak (8/5): -
- McCandless (7/5): - Friendly Staff, good breakfast and nice pool for young kids. Room could have been cleaner. Stuck to the floor.
- troy (9/5): -
- Sandy (7/5): - My tv remote didn't work..neither did buttons on tv...was stuck on one channel..Nickelodeon
- Abbott (10/5): Amazing!!! - Perfect location!! Pet friendly great price
- Jeff (10/5): Excellent!! - Nice and clean. The staff was exceptional! The whole stay was excellent
- Gary (7/5): Fair place to stay for the size of town Harlan is. - The location was great but the parking was a little tight and no elevator for us at 67 years old should have been a first floor room. We had to navigate the stairs way too many times for our age! Especially with luggage! The lack of elevator, the bed was really not comfortable, the pillows way too small.
- Linda (1/5): You have chipped out with the tiniest little things right down to the soap and tissue. It’s not all - Very humid and smelled bad no refrigerator. The sink didn’t work. The drain didn’t drain. The water didn’t come out. Very poor layout from all the places I’ve ever been can’t believe you built it like this one washcloth. The door did not bolt securely staff was not eager to please. You are taking away too many amenities no light in bathroom for the guy at night. My wife was not happy with undressing in the layout you had the list goes on. See the above as to what I didn’t like or we didn’t like
Very, very disappointing you need to keep up. I would never recommend your hotel to anyone. I’m ashamed to say we stayed there.

- Siems-Thornburg (9/5): - Price & clean
- Jeffrey (8/5): - I have stayed here quite a few times this summer for work. The only real complaint I have is, the tv's are sub par. At least twice I had a tv that didn't work properly, ie: remote didn't work, or something else. No biggie
- Edward (9/5): -
- Michele (8/5): - It was a good room. Really wasn't anything I didn't like . The bathtub was slippery and I fell getting out .
- Krisandra (8/5): - Very close to Crazy Horse memorial, Mount Rushmore, and Custer State Park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better than expected with eggs, sausage, waffles and menu was changed daily. Our only problem was a strong garlicy odor in the room. They attempted to remedy it, but the smell persisted to some degree during our stay. I must the odor was only in our room, not anywhere else in the hotel and our room was otherwise clean.
- alison (6/5): Night clerk don’t mess… - We arrived at 9:50 and the front desk clerk told us she was off at 10 but would ask the night clerk to keep the pool open a little later for us. The night clerk refused. But the morning clerk and late afternoon clerks were very nice. Breakfast was good.
- Lester (10/5): - Staff is always friendly and accommodating
- casey (8/5): - Nice place, the lady at the desk fixed the TV for us.
- Fluit (9/5): -
- Cheryl (8/5): - The staff was friendly. However, this is probably the first Wyndam property I have stayed at in a very, very long time without shampoo, conditioner, and/or lotion. Probably lucky to have had hand soap. Granted it is a very small town but it is a Wyndam property. We were on a family trip thru Iowa.
- Robert (9/5): - Breakfast was ok. Gravey a little runnny but good Disappointed that the pool was closed
- Heller (9/5): - Clean rooms clean motel quiet Nothing
- Robert (8/5): - beyond what I expected in small town
- Coleen (6/5): - Enjoyed my stay at the Baymont in Harlan. It was conveniently located for my activities. I forgot how humid Iowa can be in the summer (Corn Sweats!) so the musty water smell threw me off a bit.
- Jeramie (8/5): - Room had a cigarette Oder to it. Beds were very comfortable.
- Tim (10/5): I will be staying here again. - The staff was great. Only a few issues in the room with the shower curtain and there were a few ceiling locations that were recently repaired with spackle and not finished.
- Ashley (4/5): - Seemed to be in a safe area. Breakfast was good. Daytime staff was kind. Beds were super comfortable. That is the good.
The bad: took 20+ minutes for the attendant to come check us in at 11:20pm upon anrrival and then did not apologize for the wait or really speak to me. Very awkward. Upon walking to our room there were multiple dehumidifiers in the hallway. When we got into our room it was so damp that the floor felt wet. The room door would only latch if force was applied. The bathroom door would not latch at all. There was a large spider in our room that night and a large cockroach-looking bug in the morning as we were getting ready to leave.
VERY disappointed in our stay. Will not be staying there again!!
- Paul (6/5): Good option and price about 10 miles off i80 - Safe area, beautiful little town of Harlan, Iowa Terrible Musty smell on first floor and initial room assignment was unbearable... I was told they had a flood recently and that all the dehumidifiers in the hall were to correct the humidity and musty smell. Was reassigned to a second floor room and it too had a musty smell but more likely from the AC not being engaged on the front side on a 98⁰ day. At least this smell was bearable and we enjoyed a comfortable sleep after a long day of driving. TV remote didn't work on one of the two TVs. The hotel had a decent morning breakfast and staff was helpful and kind.
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brenda (10/5): - Very helpful staff, nice breakfast choices & easy location.
- Patricia (8/5): - All was fine
- Steph605 (4/5): Will not be staying again - Though the check in process was great as was the woman working the front desk the room was unacceptable. The center throughout the room was almost unbearable. we were trying to find a last-minute check-in at 2 AM and the Baymont was only 15 minutes from I 80. There are humidifiers lining the hallways, but they need to be in every room. The room smelled moldy and disgusting. The carpets felt wet as did the bedding. it has been raining a lot, but based on the humidifier’s lining the hallway I’m assuming this has been an issue for quite some time. The room was clean, but we had to push our entire bodyweight against the door to get it to lock.
- Mary (8/5): - Property was clean and well kept . Only downfall was no elevator .
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (6/5): - No good restaurants in area buck snort was terrible
- Kathleen (10/5): - The room was clean and spacious. Friendly staff. Great water pressure.
- Sharon (3/5): Poor -
- Allyson (8/5): - Decent room, good waffles,
- Lewis (1/5): Bad - Rude rude service. Made us park on the street rather than in their parking lot. No elevator. AC unit didn't work
- David (4/5): Disappointing -
- Patricia L (10/5): - Always have a good stay here.
- robert (10/5): - The check in was quick, the property and room was in great shape. Adequate breakfast. Pleasant stay.
- Garold (10/5): - Road noise was irritating
- Duane (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (9/5): Okay but pricey - Quiet, except for the rumble strips on road outside. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Easy drive from I-80. The website varied from $15-20 for pet fee, but when I arrived, the staff said $25. That was disappointing. Overall, I felt $148 was a bit high for the stay.
- Craig (8/5): - It have a exhaust fan in the bathroom
- Cassandra (2/5): Very disappointed - Very disapponited with front desk lady . She was rude to us stated we couldn't change credit cards but then allowed us to. Beds were small and uncomfortable and the halls and room smelled like mold. When checking out and asking for receipt same lady said she didnt know if she could at first. She very unprofessional.
- Mary (10/5): - Clean and streamlined!!
- Kari (10/5): - Check in was easy and staff was friendly.
- Reeves (7/5): Comfortable Bed - This Baymont was very clean. The king bed was very comfortable. I would probably give higher ratings but the fan in the bathroom was loud enough to be a machine gun! The other issue I had is that there was not a single shelf in the bathroom to set anything on so I kept sitting items on the back of the toilet & the items kept falling onto the floor or into the trash can! Made me mad every time! One other thing was that there was a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor so the bathroom smelled faintly of sewer. Last complaint was in general the poor lighting in the room.
In spite of these items I would stay there again because it was clean and the bed comfortable. I do hope they put a shelf in the bathroom though.
- Thurston (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (6/5): - Good place for the price
- Carmen (8/5): - Everything was fine. The place looked good. There was breakfast for the people that stayed there.
- Clyde (2/5): - No elevator and have problems walking and was put on second floor. Bathroom had missing fixtures, broken bathroom door handle.
- Ladehoff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good -
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harris (4/5): Disappointing -
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chad (8/5): - Easy to find, located right on Highway 59.
- Lynn (10/5): Warm winter stay - It was a windy winter day during our stay, but kept warm inside Hotel is on edge of town so really felt the wind The rumble strips on the road by us were heard all night, but were still able to rest well Used the pool & exercise room which was nice to have We enjoyed our stay with friendly staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): Will stay here again, linens need to be upgraded - Check in was amazing! She remembered me from my last stay. The fitted sheets were old and worn out and spent the night sleeping on the mattress pad.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Harrell (8/5): Very good - polite staff, clean rooms, the only 2 issues... was for a handicapped room the bathroom is not big enough for an electric wheelchair. needs to salt drives better when icy. otherwise great experience. will use again
- Marie (7/5): Good -
- Marie (7/5): Good -
- Luis (4/5): - terrible odor, never made the room housekeeping, breakfast was the poorest I have ever had.... I can understand it is an old facility and it is not a fancy place but, need a little effort to make clients more comfortable
- Brandt (4/5): - Room had no heat but front desk lady was apologetic
- Clinton (8/5): - Good value
- Stuerke (9/5): Very good - Easy to get too All was good
- Stuerke (9/5): Good - Easy to get too Same
- Shawn (10/5): - Its ok. Needs an update. Small town. Exceptable
- Daniel (8/5): - Good place
- Hien (6/5): Pleasant -
- G2857ARkevina (4/5): Wyndham points only for the disabled? - I used my Wyndham points and was give a room for the disabled. I don't understand this restriction. The TV remote was not working and there was a note taped to TV giving instructions for manually using the TV (remote could only change channels, NOT adjust volume and NOT turn off/on). Why not replace TV and/or remote with a functioning unit? Not staying there again.
- Jessabelle (2/5): Very poor - It was the closest place to stay to go to my friend’s wedding Everything. AC wasn’t working. Makeup stain on the bed. TV wouldn’t work.
And when we went down, the lady said “there’s nothing we can do tonight, I’ll leave a note for the maintenance people for the morning”
My question is, why couldn’t they move us to a different room? Or even get some refund? It was very upsetting
- Karen (8/5): It was fine - Noise of nearby rumble strips
- Valerie (8/5): - Quiet
- John (7/5): Good - Location was perfect for our trip to Lonely Oak Distillery. Hotel was clean, staff friendly. A/C unit was a bit loud and had high pitch whine. Scrambled eggs at breakfast seemed to be of the "instant" type, texture (mouth feel) was unpleasant.
- Tim (5/5): Decent place to stay. - Location was good. Bathrooms were not the cleaneast and there was a lot a issues with the hardware.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (8/5): - Harlan was a great town to stop in and stretch. The town has a wonderful park to walk the dog and enjoy the area.
- Kyle (6/5): - Over my six day stay I started hearing doors slamming and house keeping cart rolling around 7:30am daily. I don't sleep in so that didn't overly bother me, but the customer service at the front desk was abysmal. For example, one family member that flew from Texas and booked a handicapped room because they have mobility issues arrived to be told their wasn't a handicap room available, but since the rest of the family was staying at the Baymont and he already had the hotel he decided to stay. I personally felt like an inconvenience whenever I asked for anything from the front desk, especially during the night shift. At one point the key reader to my door went out, we spent 15-20 minutes fixing it in the hallway at midnight, and then the front desk took my keys. When I want back later that night to ask for another key, because I didn't have any, she rolled her eyes at me. The stay was fine.
- Dorothy (8/5): - Stay there many times, staff very friendly like family
- brandon (8/5): - Nice place
- Phyllis (9/5): Room was clean bed was comfy but rather out of the way - Had a pool, clean room No elevator.and our room was on the second floor. Breakfast was mediocre
- Shannon (1/5): Bad - The hot water in the shower was awesome. The facility is old and needs to be refreshed. My room number was written on the wall instead of a plate in place like the rest of the rooms.
I did not receive choice credit for using this hotel. I was also charged an initial $100.00 incidental fee upon check in ( it was reimbursed).
Overall, possibly the worst I’ve ever utilized.
- jeff (6/5): - Decent hotel. Maybe when repairs are done, I would upgrade my ratings.
Staff was pleasant.
- RHONDA (6/5): - The shower was cold the morning we left
- Pauline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (2/5): - Serious mold & mildew problem.
- Romina (6/5): - Breakfast was good
- Randy (9/5): Overall a nice place to stay! - Clean and quiet location! Friendly staff! Limited breakfast
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
