Guest Reviews
- cheryl (10/5): - Rooms were very clean without the odor of cleaning solution. Beds were extremely comfortable, lighting was good. Frig & micro. Hot water with decent pressure.
Down side heater seems to be pre set to 63 deg thermostat does not work.
No coffee.
- LANCE (6/5): - Staff not every friendly
- resit (6/5): Clean and basic - Basic motel. You can hear other people in rooms. Pillows were flat. Room was clean and provided a refrigerator and microwave. There was coffee at the attached restaurant but not in the room. Some of the fitted sheets were bought for double beds but the beds are queens so they don’t fit.
- Brian (8/5): - Hotel is a little dated but clean and great for a overnight stay
- Tami (10/5): - Very clean.
- Tom (8/5): - Clean and updated with musical shower
- Theresa (2/5): - The place is worn down, example room window was broken, the towels are so thin I wouldn’t use them to dry my car with. Older man was rude and during check in at 5 pm he had Jammie pants on. Charged us 4.00 dollars for a cup of coffee with dry creamer and does not offer Canadian exchange rates. Frowned when we asked for ice in the ice bucket they provided. The cost for the whole thing is outrageous.
- Dianne (6/5): - Beds were very comfortable, but not many electrical outlets or any USB plug ins. The room was dated, but functional. Breakfast was good, but we were reluctant to try dinner as the host said, we can probably whip something up for you to eat. We decided to eat at a restaurant across the street as a result and no one was in the cafe for the night that we could see.
- Kim (10/5): - The room was clean and spacious.
- Allen Carolyn (6/5): - Friendly staff, hotel just needs updating.
- Pamela (8/5): - Ate across the road at Buckshot Betty's. She was short handed, very rude, took hours and food was only ok! Slim pickings for food by hotel yku should eat before you stop. No coffee pot in room.
- Alicia (4/5): - Staff was extremely unpleasant and rude. Asking for simple things like ice was met with rude comments. The cafe as advertised was not inviting. Server complained when a member in our party ordered a BLT sandwich that she would now have to make. One of the beds had clearly been slept in
- Juan G. (10/5): - Excellent
- Juan G. (10/5): - Excellent
- James (2/5): - Horrible Service, acted like I was doing them a favor
- Stuart (10/5): - Owners are great people and very helpful.
- Dale (6/5): - The price. It's an old run down motel but not "run down" prices. Only one other motel in town and they take advantage of people.
- Kelly (6/5): - Fan in room broken didn’t work Take a nap take a nap. Do you wanna take a day at a time? Don’t know what’s Case so are we thinking? N
- Stephen (8/5): No problemo! - Hotel in the middle of no where. You're paying a premium because of that. It's showing its age, but clean and comfortable. Would have no issue staying there again!
- Travis (4/5): At least it was dry - Charged a random extra $48 for nothing. When the toilet wouldn’t flush, I was told “it was fine earlier today.” I trimmed the flapper with my pocket knife and tightened the seat. I would stay again if I was forced to, but anyone staying here should lower expectations and then be ready for disappointment.
- Jon (4/5): - Its a hotel near the Alaska / Canadian Border on the Alaska Highway. Dont expect much and you will be O.K.
- Adrian (8/5): - Very nice staff. Decent room.
- Alexander (8/5): - Perfectly positioned place when road tripping. Nice, clean, spacious rooms, with restaurant and gas station attached. Also other eating options over the road.
- Donald (10/5): - Nice room, lots of space. Redturant right next door and gas station. Friendly owners
- Larry (6/5): - Bare bones hotel with low wattage bulbs and 1970’s bed covers
- Bill (6/5): - After we checked in and went to our rooms, we turned up the thermostat to get some heat. About a 30 minutes later still no heat.
We went to the office and they said the heat is off. We asked can you turn the heat on? They said NO, people have windows open and it will waste heat. They gave us 2 portable heaters and said here ya go.
Later we went to the office for ice and the lady said you just asked for heat, now you want ice? I said heat for us, ice for drinks.
Later on, they did turn on the building heat. But by morning it had again been turned off.
It's the only game in town but gosh it was not fun dealing with the management.
- Ivan (8/5): - Large room in good shape.
- Ann (8/5): - Very clean room , comfortable bed . Kettle in room and hairdryer would be nice .
Freshly cooked breakfast
- Kim (6/5): - The room was large and had been remodeled. The bed was comfortable. The front desk help were not real helpful.
- Bonita (6/5): - Pricy for a bare bones room.
- james (8/5): - Good location
- brian (4/5): - It was poorly
- Kimberly (8/5): - Room was clean, but beds were not good. Location was wonderful.
- Erin (2/5): - No wifi- when I asked about it they made it seem like it was normal to not be able to access it in the room rather than being upfront about it. When I went to check out I was accused of writing a poor review and spoken to Ridley, which I did not, yet the review was correct- you pay almost $190 and cannot get wifi, no coffee in room, could use some new towels etc.
- Ellie (4/5): - No wifi
- enzo (2/5): - The place is really dirty. The restaurant had really bad food. The bar was closed. The owners at the front desk were super rude and they overcharged me the water in the bathroom run super slow. It took me forever to take a shower and the owner is dead if you don’t like it, you don’t have to shower. What the hell
- Anne (2/5): - Filthy. Horrible smell in both rooms. Urine stained mattress. Broken window. No screen. Zero water pressure. Seriously, sleep in your car if you have to. Do not stay here. I feel badly for the one younger staff member guy who was nice, but the owner scolded him about the dirty mattress even though it’s her business and her problem. Worst place I’ve ever stayed. We usually don’t write reviews, but we had to warn you.
- Renee (10/5): Friendly and convenient - The Hotel was comfortable with a restaurant attached and Gas so made it very convenient for a stop. Some improvements could be option in room of extra pillows and blankets as well as coffee, everyone likes coffee or tea being complementary 😀 While the restaurant was close some healthy options would be nice such as salads or fruit options even coleslaw .
- Ernest (6/5): - Outside and pats of inside needed a good cleaning.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This was a place to stay. Nothing special
- ronald (6/5): - this is a truck stop hotel. 180 can. $ and you get a room that is clean and up to date for this kind of hotel BUT no internet, no in room coffee, no air cond. but a fan and a comfy bed. one other hotel in town and two dive restaurants. gas is 2.49 a liter. cross the border north a few miles and get it in alaska for 3.59 a gal. just saying.
- Pavel (6/5): - Nothing
- mojdeh (2/5): - Very unfriendly staff. Their rate on website is about $50 lower from what they actually charge. We booked online & When we went over there, the front desk lady asked us to pay the higher amount. When we questioned it, she raised her voice and talked with attitude. She said we have to pay with “Canadian Money”. We travelled in Canada and stayed in 2 different hotels prior to coming to this Motel and never had any issues. This very low class motel was not worth the amount we were charged!!!!
- Verna (8/5): - Spacious rooms hood beds
- Jong Ho (6/5): - No wi fi
- Susan (6/5): - Very dated but clean rooms when you’re looking for a place to lay your head and there’s nothing around.
- Michael Faber (8/5): - For area, best choice.
- Gregory (10/5): - The receptionsist was very nice, the room was clean and adequate.
- Bert (10/5): - Wondering cook and staff
- Eric (2/5): - I was unable to check in because they would not accept a service dog.
- Earl (8/5): - Very helpful staff
- Ruth (2/5): - Terrible service, owner hung up on us on the phone, we talked to Expedia and they called and he hung up on them . We made an error with the booking and simply wanted to see if there was something we could do, he would not even entertain a conversation. You should never, ever stay at this property. Sleeping in the car is a better option.
- Lanis (6/5): - The room smelled very moldy, especially the bathroom. Our reservation was for three adults, but there were oily two bath trowels and two glasses in the room.
- Jeremy (6/5): Bad smells - Black fingerprints all over the walls. Old bits of food in the carpet. Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Refrigerator unplugged and closed on arrival - horrible smell. Room itself smelled like mildew and bad air freshener. Air freshener was one of the little pine tree car fresheners
- Denise (4/5): - Smell of smoking in non-smoking room.
- Joni (8/5): - No frills, but basics included. Comfy bed, hot water, tasty burger. Good to have a safe place to stay the last town before the border. Coffee, bfast not included. Not much to do in the town
- Donald (8/5): - This is a no frills establishment, but it is comfortable, warm, dry, in relatively good repair, the staff is friendly, and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (2/5): HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - I have never had such horrible customer service in my life! Stay away at all costs! This is the rudest women I have ever had to deal with!
I recently had a coach travelling through the area with a group of athletes and stopped in there very late and was exhausted and needed to rest. When he stopped, it was closed and lacked any noticeable signage. He was forced to continue his journey without the intended break.
We still got charged. I called the women to explain the situation and asked for a refund. Well holy efff! This woman starts yelling at me on the phone and calling me a liar, keeps yelling and then hangs up on me!
As someone who regularly sends staff to the area and is familiar with the Yukon community, I am appalled by the behaviour exhibited by this owner. The complete lack of respect and decency shown to a paying customer is beyond comprehension. It's disappointing to see such disregard for business ethics and common courtesy.
I implore the management of this establishment to reflect upon their customer service practices. Treating customers with respect and understanding is the cornerstone of any successful business. Regrettably, this incident has compelled me to sever any potential business ties with this establishment in the future.
In summary, the treatment I received from this establishment's owner was shockingly disrespectful and unprofessional. My experience serves as a cautionary tale for anyone considering doing business with them.
Just WOW! Grab some sense!
- Nora (8/5): - Very friendly. Clean, functional and convenient.
- Robert (2/5): - very nice lady who runs it. Very unsanitary and smells worse than anything I have ever smelled
- Karl (2/5): - No pet option when booking. At checking clerk was very rude. Would not allow our dog to sleep outside our door. Said they were full and people had allergies. We were on second floor, which was empty but for us. We were outside and were told to put him in the vehicle. I do not recommend.
- Susan (2/5): - Owners were horrid people. Would never stay there again.
- Lynn (2/5): Old, dated, dilapidated, not run like a busines - The restaurant was shut down by the health inspector. The lady at desk didn’t even know how to find a reservation place is run down, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
- Philip (8/5): - Wonderful people. Sound accommodations. Extremely good location on the Alaska Highway.
- Francisca (6/5): - Okay for overnight rest while traveling through.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Laughable ameneties - Laughable ameneties. Paid nearly $170 and there was no fridge, no microwave, not even a coffee pot. The internet was working for maybe the first 30 minutes and then nothing. For that price they could have atleast put a $20 coffee pot in the room and made sure the internet works.
- Mary (2/5): - I will never stay here again. Rooms were dirty and had a horrible smell. Worst motel I have ever stayed at.
- David T. (2/5): - The ad for this property is basically a lie. No ice, no restaurant operating, No Coffee fridge in room did not work Carpet dirty -sheets torn- old. Gaps in door let bugs in..
- sat lee (2/5): - No hot water and heater at night time. Bed sheet is dirty and mattress is soft
- Kent (2/5): - Dirty, fitted sheet so small it completely came off bed, no Wi-Fi and you have no business even offering this place. Could not sleep and left in the middle of the night. Would like a refund
- Gregory (2/5): - No heat in room
- Michael (2/5): - Beyond critic. The room had the feel and smell of an old closet at grandma’s house …. neglected and in disrepair. The bed was covered in pet hair, 1990’s tv didn’t work, stains and warped floor coverings, broken shower curtain, nearly no water pressure, etc. Zero amenities yet expensive. Probably one of the worst rooms/hotels I’ve stayed in years. Staff were nice and friendly though! If you’re desperate, have a sleep sack, and won’t mind spending a lot of money for this experience, you’ve found your hotel.
- Charles (6/5): - It is an old building in a one horse town. Matt Dillion, the owner offers clean rooms and not much else. Across the street is buckskin Betty’s, the only game in town. After 5 or more hours of dust and gravel, it might be considered an oasis. Best feature by far, were the road construction crews that called it home during the week. Small store that sells gas, Canadian whiskey and beer, as well as a few other things. For a one horse town, a real gem.
- Antonio (6/5): - The room itself was not bad. I was not pleased that we asked for a room with two beds because my wife and I have our a 15 year old, and they tacked on additional $20 Canadian charge because we have “a third person.” We did not ask for a cot or any other concession, we used the 2 beds already in the room. I guess we could’ve lied and said they were only two of us but we don’t do that.
The restaurant referenced in the title is also closed permanently. They need to stop advertising having a restaurant because it is not true.
Not a bad stay but I won’t stay there again given there are two other local options.
- Tien (8/5): - It is good if you stay there for one night. The bed is good and the room is clean but fridge doesn’t work and no microwave. No internet (so weak that you can’t use)
- Rob (6/5): Rustic and reasonably priced - friendly staff, old property, nice considering age.
- Sanford (8/5): - I didn't have the highest expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. Just fine for an overnight while driving the Alcan.
- Tully (8/5): - Ok
- Phyllis (8/5): - An efficient motel. We had a comfortable night there.
- Margot (8/5): - We were grateful to find a room on Canada Day weekend. The gentleman who checked us in was polite and efficient. The room was basic but clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay away!!! - Called earlier knowing we’d get there after hours due to Covid testing issue to cross the border. We had to wake someone to get our room. He did say we could change rooms if we weren’t happy, but it was 1:00 a.m., and we were only staying until the morning. The room reeked from mold. And despite the ‘sanitized’ wrap around the toilet seat/lid, it was clearly not sanitized because you could see diarrhea residue on the rim. I travel with disinfecting wipes which further showed the lack of cleaning. And on this particular lengthy trip, I brought sheets and pillows. The sheets on the bed were stained. We stripped them off revealing an even more stained mattress cover. The mattress itself looked to be 20-30years old by the cover pattern. Above the bed was a thermostat which didn’t do anything. It was a cool night and we’d the window to try to air out the room (didn’t remove the smell). The only heat was the bathroom heater on a 15 minute timer. To top it off I noticed I was charged a higher rate than my Hotels.com email showed.
The next morning, I mentioned to the same man who checked us in that the room really needed attention to deal with the smell and he said we should’ve asked for another room. Given the overall condition, I can’t imagine a better room exists there. I pointed out the overcharge and had to argue with him until he finally made a phone call to someone else and received a refund of the overcharge. If the hotel had been decent, I wouldn’t have even asked.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bed was hard, shower curtain was disgusting, refrigerator didn't work...you'd think for the price we could have gotton some ice. Next time we'll stay at 1202 fas gas across the street. Went there after checking out and she was amazing and helped us out!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid- will try to scam you out of your money - Ownership is not good. Booked a room for 2 people, was very clear about that at check in, night attendant still forced second person to pay for their own room (yet still stay in mine). Language barrier, not a major issue, thought I'd fix it with management the next day.
Management refused a refund, said I caused the misunderstanding despite me showing my hotels.com booking receipt that showed 2 people, and the attendant being the one with poor English and communication. Disputed the charge with my credit card, got my money back.
Avoid this hotel, there's a few others right across the street that are way better.
- Jim (4/5): Ida's in Beaver Creek - It was the end of the season but, no coffee pot, fridge, microwave - no heat until a portable heater was brought in, wifi didn't work, all this for the rock bottom price of 114.00 dollars!
- Richard (6/5): Last stop in Canada, Beaver Creek - WiFi was not able to work for us signal was weak and other than that the room was good
- Jette (8/5): Middle of nowhere - This is a beautiful place for a place that is literally in the middle of nowhere, clean and well maintained for an older property.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - DO NOT STAY AT THE IDA INN
What finally got me to leave?
There was DIRT in the bed. The bed was made , sheets tucked tight, dirt all over inside the bed.
Everything was dirty. I squatted to go potty. I didn’t know want to sit on the bed or touch anything.
I left. I put the key, an actual key,( also, there was no deadbolt or chain lock in the room) in the drop box, got in my car and left. I ended up sleeping in front of a gas station because not only was I not going to pay for another crappy motel, there were NO gas stations open!
See pictures.
I arrived exhausted after midnight. The sign on the door directs guests to room 101 after hours. There were barely any lights on outside, just one bulb on over the door. No sign or lights on outside of room 101 confirming someone was inside the room to help.
I was given room 20, which was in a separate building on the left side of the main building. Room 20 was also on the left side of the building with ZERO lights! No lights anywhere.
The Ida Inn is something out of a horror movie on so many levels.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - on arrival we had to wait until 4 30 , when we got into the room the toilet would not flush as the water was turned off when we turn ed it on it kept running, the hot water to the hand basin was turned off ,the bed was as hard as a rock, the pillow slips were not clean ,there was only one glass in the room .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Restaurant is not open. Front desk charged me 10$ more than traveler who arrived at the same time. I was told the extra $10 was a charge for the &10 Expedia charges the hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was okay. The restaurant is closed. ..zzzzzzzxzzxxxxxxxxxx
- Kris (10/5): - Cozy and quaint, affordable, good place for dogs to roam
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not not recommend with pets - There was no heat in our room, not sure the last time it had been cleaned, and our bedding looked like it hadn’t been washed in a while so we just slept in our sleeping bags. There was hair around the bathroom. Check-in was knocking on a hotel room door and waiting for the owner to give you a key. We had to go back two more times for WiFi information and to ask about turning on the heat. The second time, the room lights were off and we didn’t think we should disturb him so slept in the cold. Because we had a dog, we were placed in an annex next to the restaurant, not in the Motel. However, we had a warmish shower(the sink faucet didn’t have warm water), which was much needed after a chilly night.
If we are ever back in Beaver Creek, we will check out the other places or will camp. We will not return to idas.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Desserted. Rooms looked like noone had stayed there this season. Not sure what they would have done if we had asked for food. Luckily there was a goood restraunt across highway.
- Christopher (4/5): - Proprietor turned off internet and hot water.
- Peter (4/5): Needs to improve management and cleaness - The Motel seems like a pretty much standard place if you are travelling on routes not so often frequented. BUT: The dsk clerk didn't no we were coming, the room was not prepared and the alternative room was made up but not really clean (to our standards). We decided not to stay
- Bill (4/5): - Front desk staff very grumpy. Not the nicest place but adequate for the area.
- Damir (4/5): Not worth the money! - Had to wake up a person to open the office, give us the room key and process charges. To make the matter worse, individual came out in his pajamas. Condition of the accomodations could be improved greatly.
- Mary (2/5): - Hotel was not as advertised on their website. No services lacked any amenities and not clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Could of been better - No hot water or Toilet paper. It was a place to sleep and keep driving.
- Carol (10/5): Hidden gem on a long drive - I wasn’t expecting much in this tiny town but I was very pleased with our stay - the room was spotless and newly remodeled- the beds comfortable and they had a fan in the room for the win! None of the Canadian Alaska Hwy hotels had air conditioning but this one had a much appreciated fan. Service was great and it was a very enjoyable night’s rest
