Guest Reviews
Alles Bestens
- Tasmyn (9/5): - My family and I enjoyed our stay. The staff were attentive and professional. We’ll definitely be back.
- Innocent (10/5): Excellent stay - Friendly Stuff 🥰🥰🥰 Clean and Peaceful 😌
- Hilde (10/5): Prachtig en absolute aanrader - Het ontvangst was super! Vriendelijk personeel! Niks is hen te veel! Je voelt je onmiddellijk Super lekker eten! Super vlotte bediening
De persoonlijke warme aanpak
Prachtige kamers! Heel mooi
- caroline (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Peaceful, idyllic reserve. - The service from the staff stood out the most. They were very friendly and attentive, nothing was a bother for them. The quietness of the location was also a stand out feature of the lodge, particularly when you are looking to get away from the noise! Nothing!
- Leelamanee (9/5): Amazing gem of a place with amazing staff - The staff, the warm welcome, the special care they take of you to make you at ease, the spa massages, the rock pool, the views, the hikes and the food. Perfect for a retreat and disconnect from a busy life. Just make sure to contact the staff of your arrival well before you hit the last 10 kms, there's no cellphone reception.
- david (10/5): THE BEST - The staff ,food and location exultant
- Jolanda (8/5): -
Alles was tiptop in orde!
- Graham (10/5): fantastic relaxing stay...highly recommend ! - exception meals all day.
beautiful rock pool excursion. poor wifi
- Alain (10/5): -
- geoff (7/5): Generally a bit disappointing, but Robert made the visit more interesting - Robert ensured we got something from the stay. We really enjoyed chatting with him and the service at mealtimes. Some of the walks and bike rides were enjoyable We were amazed that the wines they served as part of the package cost around usd 4 locally at makro. If they spent even usd 7 a bottle on some good stellenbosch or Swartland wines it would be a better introduction to South African wines for visitors and less penny pinching.
The staff were good/friendly and were trying hard, but the place and game viewing offer didn't have much sparkle for the price - or any points of difference, given all the other options in the waterberg. It was all OK but overall a bit disappointing
Accommodatie top, goede bedden heerlijke buitendouche
Lekkere keuken en goede wijnen
Top personeel, super vriendelijk leuke game drives and rock pool bezoek
De kleinkinderen wilden niet weg
We hebben er van genoten
- Farhang (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay at Zebras Crossing was amazing. We want to say a big thank you to Robert, Jildu, and Chipo for their wonderful hospitality. They took us on game drives with so much passion and energy, and they shared so much interesting knowledge about the plants and animals. It made every drive really special.
We also want to thank the chef at Zebras Crossing Lodge for the delicious and surprising meals, every dish was a real treat!
Thank you to all the staff for making our three night stay so enjoyable. We had such a great time and we really hope to come back one day.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Excellent - Absolutely excellent in all aspects- the room, exceptional food, views and especially the wonderful staff who make you feel so welcome and attend to your every need!
Thank you Ghildo for your friendly, humorous and efficient nature!
Robert, you really know your stuff! From hospitality to your knowledge of nature. All the staff are brilliant and the lodge is amazing!
We will be back again for sure.
- Kai (8/5): Very good -
- Stella (8/5): Very good -
- Andre (9/5): Superb - Great breakfast as well as the dinner. And the name zebras crossing is well deserved, those creatures showed up very close.
- Grant (10/5): Fantastic Lodge, Great food, Excellent service - Fantastic lodge, friendly staff and fantastic food. Robert was a fantastic host! All of our wants and neeeds were attended too immediately. The lodge is amazingly flexible with viewing times etc. Nothing it was amazing......
- Aidan (10/5): Absolutely peaceful and would definitely go back! - We had an amazing time. Our Ranger Jildu was amazing and showed us all around. His knowledge on the game and tree species was incredible. He also took us to the rock pools for an amazing swim! Would be nice if they had something for the ladies on the all inclusive drinks menu. But otherwise it was amazing.
- Sibusiso (10/5): Worth every cent. - Incredible experience. The zebras really are friendly and come very close for human interaction. Great staff and great food N/A
- Christian (10/5): The entire staff is super friendly and treat you very very well. The game drive is interesting and the property is huge. - Calmness, nature, rooms
- Hitekani (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff, especially Ghildo. Tasty food. Cleanliness. Hot breakfast was not so great. Bacon and beef sausage didn't have a fresh taste.
- Simon (10/5): Fabulous, relaxing, unique and wonderfully small. - The staff and location were amazing. There are only a few huts so you really do get a 5* personal service. The guides have great knowledge about the site and speak very knowledgable about the area, flora, forna and animals. It takes me a few days to wind down normally on holiday, it happened here right away, it’s just so relaxing! Nothing, it was amazing.
- Magdaleen (10/5): Exceptional stay - From the time we arrived till the time we left the service was really good. Staff are friendly and they really made us feel very relaxed and welcome at all times.
The food was really exceptional!!
Ideal resting weekend getaway!
- Mihlali (10/5): Quaint bush vacation that’s not too far from the city with the BEST service - Great facilities and good value for money. The service is excellent, every single staff member is super friendly and committed to ensuring the best experience. Even all the guests were very pleasant. Nothing
- Frederic (10/5): Simply a phenomenal business and people. The service, food, decor, facilities and amenities. Highly recommend! - Service, staff, decor, facilities, food. The fact that bikes are there for use, walking sticks etc. Maybe get given a map of trails and the area on arrival.
- Renate (9/5): Tranquil relaxation - The staff were so welcoming and friendly. They considered all of our needs and met them, and more. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We travelled in Winter and were warm and comfortable. We would certainly visit again.
- Lalla (10/5): Midweek bush break - Loved the friendliness and professional attitude. There was nothing not to like.
- Sibongile (10/5): The best escape weekend - We enjoyed our stay from arrival to the time we left. The staff was exceptional. The food was 5 star. We were treated like royalty. Not enough wild animals for the game drive.
- Thuli (10/5): Very nice and enjoyable, will definaltely go back - The food was exceptional, the staff friendly and willing to help That you not allowed to bring your own beverage
- Nick (10/5): wonderful place. the staff are amazing here - truly wonderful place
- Xavier70 (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Wihan (10/5): Perfect getaway - Relaxing and perfect for a trip to the bush
- Denira (10/5): Exceptional - The food and the staff! We had an amazing weekend away with delicious plated meals and incredible service with attention to detail. Iyanda really went out of her way to make us feel welcome, and we had such fun with Gildo on our walk and game drive to the rock pools Nothing much not to like. I think the rooms could have torches, and an aircon would be welcome for those super hot days (there is a fan though)
- Kobus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil...... (10/5): Just WOW - Warm welcome
Welcome drinks
Accommodation
Nature and wildlife
Peacefulness
Friendly owners and staff
From the moment we arrived untill the moment we left we felt comfortable and it was like visiting friends instead of staying at a corporate hotel.
- Li-zen (9/5): A must try lodge with endless amounts of potential! - The room was amazing. Waking up and seeing zebra, impala and nyala outside your bedroom window as well as from the comfort of the bathtub was spectacular. The food the chef was able to cook was amazing. From breakfast through to dinner each meal was fantastic.
The game drive we were able to go on was also great. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative about both flora and fauna. The spa treatments we had could have been better refined. There was too much oil poured onto us to the point where we were drenched in oil from head to toe. Pressure points on the body were then missed because it was too slippery. I think that a seperate room for the spa would also better enhance the experience. I feel like with more time and experience the spa will be improved though.
Furthermore, I believe that more activities could be added to the lodge over time. During our stay it rained so it was difficult to go on game drives and ride bicycles. But if there could be horse back riding, quad biking, braaing, a tv in the bar area or something to keep guests busy would be a cherry on top of an already amazing lodge.
- Maphehle (9/5): Superb -
- Sanyangare (9/5): Amazing - The trails are amazing to exercise on
The food is to die for The weather affected a bit of our activities but the overall trip was fantastic
- Makgalemela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cleopetra (10/5): Hidden Gem/Lodge in Modimolle ❤️ - I do not know where to start!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 From Friday afternoon when we checked in, we were welcomed by drinks.. My partner and I had dinner under the tress for my birthday celebration. The staff surprised me with a yummy carrot cake for free! Nester, the Chef made sure our tummies are well fed during our stay- starting from starters to desserts. Saturday morning Gildo took us for 2,5km cycling, later in the afternoon we jumped onto the game-drive. We also visited the rock pools for a quick swim. Johanna was so sweet and took care of us during the entire stay
Do not hesitate to book this place. I highly recommend it 10/10 Nothing!
- Phoshoko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): utterly fabulous in every possible way - everything- absolutely magnificent nothing
- Finaughty (9/5): The staff and food were really great! - The staff were amazing - the food was great! Thank-you for arranging a tv to watch the rugby world cup!! Kids meals were not considered, after asking though the chef and staff went out of their way to make it happen. Maybe suggest a kids menu with 5 items on that parents can pre-order in the morning.
- Hanna (9/5): Enjoyed the stay, all staff goes beyond what is expected. Enough activities to keep one busy! - All food exceeds expectations! The personal touches from Chef and fact that he listens to you, is beyond special and appreciated. Attention to detail, with all staff doing their best to accommodate everybody's needs! Would have appreciated more dark areas to explore the night sky.... Some staff need more training on selected wines and beverages, as I was served a full bottle price, where I've specifically requested small size, per listed on the menu. This was not understood well enough...
- Cathy (7/5): Not the best - The food was good. The Staff was attentive and very friendly. Very few animals. On the first day we could not join the game drive because there was no space. The ambiance was distroyed by loud guests.
- Kruger (10/5): Wonderful memories made at Zebras crossing - We had a wonderful weekend in the bush. This place is just amazing. Beautiful scenery, big rooms, friendly helpful staff, Nesta's food was amazing... really a world-class experience. Zebras, giraffes, impalas, ostriches all came up close to the lodge... Gildo took us on game drives, and he was so much fun.. jumping into the rock pools and making jokes... Promise and his staff were really the best.. Refilwe kept the drinks flowing, and nothing for her was too much to ask. I can highly recommend this as a relaxing experience with exceptional service. Thanks Zebra crossing for great memories. Would be nice to have a bit more wildlife / game on the farm, but know over time this will get better...
- Frederick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kgomotso (10/5): The staff at Zebras crossing are a testament to genuine hospitality. Really had a good stay - Food and Rock pool
- Lufuno (10/5): Great family time away from everything, awesome service. - It's a great place with awesome kind staff and great food, kudos to the chef and his team, the game drives and the beautiful picnic spots in between were a nice touch. My kids didn't want to leave 😀 they loved the bicycle rides and taking walks in the hiking trails. It would be great to have smaller bicycles for younger kids as well, my younger one really wanted to ride too.
- Sameer (9/5): Superb -
- Kierstin (9/5): Superb -
- Juan (10/5): Beautiful bush break for the family only few hours drive from JHB. - It was very relaxing, set in a beautiful part of the country. The staff and food were excellent. Not much.
- Olker (9/5): tranquil holiday - very friendly staff, cozy and clean rooms, stable wifi, delicious foods(also vegan friendly) only 2 hours from joburg
- Mahdi (10/5): Unwind in the Wild - I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Zebra Crossing Lodge in South Africa and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The lodge is nestled in a serene bush field, providing the perfect hideaway for relaxation. The best part was being surrounded by beautiful animals such as zebras, impalas, and giraffes, which made the stay even more special.
The rooms at the lodge were very spacious and comfortable with big beds and large bathrooms equipped with a 2-person size bathtub. The lodge also had a professional chef named Abdelaziz, who prepared finger-licking delicious meals that were absolutely delightful. The game drives were not only about watching animals, but also included picnics in nature which were different every day during our 3-day stay, including swimming in a creek.
What made the stay even more memorable was the staff. Carol, Promise, and other staff members were so professional and kind, always smiling and providing excellent service. Check-in and check-out were like formal welcoming and farewell rituals, which added to the overall experience.
Overall, I highly recommend the Zebra Crossing Lodge for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in South Africa.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Pieter (9/5): Superb -
- Van (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (5/5): Passable -
- Martin (10/5): great family break away - service was amazing nothing
- Tarryn (9/5): Perfect weekend breakaway! - Food was great. Promise and the rest of the staff were excellent. Close enough to Jhb for a short break. We were celebrating our anniversary and the team went above and beyond to help us celebrate! Nothing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Where do I begin at how incredible this place was. From the manager, Promise, to the staff that welcomed us, and saw us off, to the food, the location, everything was absolutely perfect. This is the perfect getaway to relax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The entire staff are well trained, devoted to delivering first class service in a happy and conscientious way. Nothing in general was too much for them. The lodge is very well designed, it is open and uncluttered... very easy on the eye. Promise the Manager with the able help of Nakouchka and Kathy oversaw a diligent helpful team that were willing to assist in every way. A very good stay...Thank you
- Cindy (10/5): Little piece of quiet heaven - We had the most amazing stay at Zebras crossing. I can not recommend this place enough for a long weekend or weekend break to escape the hustle of the city. Everything was just perfect from beginning to end. Arrived to the friendly staff who showed us to our room and took such exceptionally good care of us our entire stay. The lodge only has a small number of rooms, so it really is quiet and peaceful and does not get busy. The rooms are beautiful, and such attention to detail. The bed is massive and has lovely pillows and linen. Massive bath and the most lovely outdoor shower which is greatly welcomed, as temperatures can get rather high in the summer. Our room had a lovely little stoep over looking the pool area, koppie and open bush where so many animals come to graze and visit. The pool is wonderful and it was very special lying there and watching the giraffes and zebras grazing so close by. They also have a lovely bush bed and a great little lookout point which is great for a sundowner. We did self catering and only took breakfast so we cant comment on the dinners but breakfasts are very tasty but the fry up portions is rather small especially for a man. They have a lovely farm kitchen so one can bring along their own drinks and food, which I think is really awesome. We opted to braai, and the staff set everything up for us. Loved Zebras crossing, a real gem!!
- Robert (10/5): Highlight of the trip! - Zebras crossing was a definite highlight of our trip!! We could not have asked for better service from the whole staff, and the owners Tamar and York are incredible, some of the best people we have ever met. Everyone there goes the extra distance to make sure your stay is the best experience it could possibly be. We saw giraffes that strolled along right next to the pool, we were able to feed zebras carrots right next to where we were sitting on the patio, there were meerkats and ostriches, an amazing safari ride, doesn’t get much better than that! Oh, and let’s not forget about those crazy delicious croissants at breakfast! We stayed with our little baby and another couple that had a baby and it was perfect for the little ones too, they loved seeing all the animals up close! Thanks for the unforgettable stay Tamar and York, we would love to be back again soon!!
