- chrisshoup (10/5): Amazing location - Kauai is heaven on earth to me and the views from Shearwater were amazing. Shearwater itself has a pool, hot tub and grills in terms of services but we accessed the gym at a sister property.
- Randall (10/5): - What did I like? Outstanding view, the property was in perfect condition and very comfortable, and the staff was professional and very helpful. What didn’t I like? Not a single thing.
- Kinga (10/5): Great stay - Clean room, beautiful view. Very quiet area.
- primo (10/5): Best place in the whole state of Hawaii - Staff was super amazing
- A1594WTaliciam (10/5): Beautiful resort - Hidden Secret - We absolutely love this resort. Our room and view were amazing, the pool was great and the room was a great size and space! We had everything we needed. The laundry and kitchen make staying for an extended stay easy. Hawaii is expensive to eat out so it really made it manageable to be able to make our own meals. We felt like we were in an apartment! We stayed for 2 weeks and couldn't have been happier with the accommodation. The staff was responsive whenever we needed anything they took care of us right away!
- Heather (10/5): - Awesome property! Clean, quiet, and spacious suites with amazing ocean views.
- littlegina2015 (8/5): Family vacation on Kauai - Condo was big and spacious, we had the 2 bedroom ocean view. Grounds are beautiful, felt like I was in a tree house. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. Condo was near shopping centers, 10 minute ride to restaurants.
- Kathy (1/5): Was shocked our reservation was not available the day we were to check in. Booking.com had moved our reservation witho - Never stayed there. Booking.com cancelled the room and changed location without our knowledge the day we were to move in Never stayed there!
- patricia (7/5): Brief - The space Stairs
- Eugene (10/5): - Great stay
- Sean (10/5): - Don’t go to their sales pitch, gosh, they’ll call you everyday after you return.
- X7853EGrichardg (10/5): Great resort, great location, great staff - My family and I stayed a week at Club Wyndham Shearwater. The resort was absoultely beautiful. The grounds were spotless and I've never seen cleaner outside barbeques. It's those little details which defintiely makes for a great vacation. The staff was very friendly. Izzy at the ftont desk was exceptionally helpful. Lili was also very friendly and helpful. What a great vacation.
- jjwelding1234 (10/5): Shearwater - Beaches were near by. Had a great morning sun rise. Rooms were clean and spacious, we were also able to cook food with everything in the kitchen. Everything was within 5mins to get to to enjoy golf, beaches, food, anything you might need.
- Karrie Lu (10/5): - Club Wyndham Sheerwater is beautiful! The condo was well kept, beds were comfortable and the service was top notch! I will be staying here again in the future.
- Brooke (10/5): - The view from this unit was stunning. Waking up to sunrise view from bed was absolutely magical. An easy hike down to a beautiful, secluded beach is just steps away. Spacious and well laid out, well stocked kitchen, and nice to have laundry. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Easy drive to Hanalei for variety of shops and restaurants. Would absolutely recommend!
- Brian (10/5): - Loved it.
- nimit (10/5): - Unit was updated and had an amazing view of the ocean.
- David (7/5): Good -
- MatthewLusk (2/5): Misleading Room Descriptions and Lack of Attention to Detail - We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The room we booked was advertised on both Expedia and ExtraHolidays.com as having a full ocean view, with photos showcasing stunning, unobstructed vistas. However, upon arrival, we discovered that only timeshare owners are offered full ocean-view rooms, and we were given a partial view instead. This was incredibly misleading and feels like false advertising. If full ocean views are reserved for timeshare owners, this should be made clear in the booking details.
To make matters worse, the room alarm had been left set for 6 a.m., which woke up our baby—definitely not how we planned to start our vacation. When we brought this up to the staff, they claimed housekeeping has no way of knowing if a previous guest left the alarm on. I had to personally show them the indicator light that clearly shows when an alarm is set. It’s frustrating that such a simple issue wasn’t addressed as part of the standard room preparation process.
Another point to note is that the hotel has no air conditioning. While this wasn’t a big issue for us during our stay, it’s something that isn’t advertised clearly, and it could be a dealbreaker for others depending on the time of year.
Overall, the lack of transparency in advertising and the oversight in basic room checks left us feeling let down.

- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Madfisher47 (8/5): Love Kauai - We Did not have wifi the whole time we were there, pool and hot tub very small . The views were awesome kauai is the most beautiful island the rooms apartment was very nice and my bed faced the sun rise on the ocean and that was courageous . Very nice staff very clean.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Goid
- Chris (2/5): Caution When Booking!! - I was notified hours before checking in (while on my flight to the location) that they would not be able to accommodate my stay. The representative told me that the room was part of a timeshare and no longer available to me. This was odd since I received confirmation the night before that my room was ready for checkin. The alternatives provided were not in the same location nor would they comparable. I chose to get a refund and was fortunate enough to find a nearby airbnb as nearby resort locations were booked. Unfortunately the cost of the location was higher and unexpected. This experience was completely unacceptable and I caution anyone looking to book this location.
- cmj2838 (10/5): One of Wyndhams better properties! - We stayed in a 2 bedroom presidential at Wyndham Shearwater in mid April 2024. We enjoyed our stay. Our place was second floor right above the pool. We thought this might be a problem but it really wasn’t. The views are beautiful. It’s unfortunate there really isn’t a beach close that’s easy to get to. We did hike down to the beach that you can get to from the trail that starts in the Shearwater parking lot. It’s not an easy hike. Don’t bring lots of stuff with you on the hike. You have to climb some rocks which make it tough with lots of stuff. Once you are there it’s great!! Your own private beach! There is no A/C but they had fans in our unit which helped. It was our first time to Kauai so we weren’t familiar with the North Shore and how much more rain it gets. This would have been an issue except that the locals seem to look for any reason to “close”. That was frustrating. Make sure you call before going to any store or restaurant. They don’t follow their stated hours. We will be going back to Shearwater next year.
- Ashley (8/5): Beautiful views with a large space but a bit warm with no A/C - Excellent location with very large rooms, a full kitchen, and laundry facilities. The balcony included lounge chairs and a dining area overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. There was a small pool and jacuzzi also overlooking the ocean. Amazing sunrise views! This property does not have air conditioning, just box fans and ceiling fans. It did get warm in the rooms. One of the bedroom televisions was broken and unable to be repaired during our stay, but the living room television and master bedroom television worked after being reset by the facilities person. I also don't like that they try to talk you into attending a timeshare sales event. There is also no beach or shore access from this property.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- T3693XYsanjays (2/5): Wyndham Kauai sherawater is worst place for your moneys worth - This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a resort. Front desk is so indifferent to guests and service does seem to resonate with them somehow. We reached early for a 4pm scheduled check in. Guess what room is not ready and will not be ready for few hours. Fe hours kept extended. We had a long day to reach there and this lack empathy and service spoiled our vacation. Will not ever stay at Wyndham.
- Goeric (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): - Beautiful location right on the coastline. Friendly staff. Cleanliness top notch. Enjoyed food trucks on site. Convenient location for the beach, Makai Golf Club, Lumahei beach and Hotel 1. Recommend visiting!
- Marietess (10/5): - The only issue was the distance to main attractions like Waimea Canyon, but it was a gorgeous stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
- Primo (10/5): Best room in Hawaii - Everything Nothing
- Vikas (6/5): - 3.5 stars feels about right. Nice ocean views, big balcony, and lots of space. Furnishings are of a good but not great quality, a bit dated. We were given an accessible unit for some reason, though we did not request one. The front desk at Shearwater has very limited hours, so if you are checking in after 4 PM, you have to check in at the sister property.
- Kim (10/5): - Fantastic! Everyone should stay here
- Maria Mercedes Bolanos (4/5): - a lot of rust around the rooms. not very clean inside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was Fine - Great location and view. Nice patio a bathrooms both were moldy though. Check in is off the residence at a sister property that I wasn’t aware of.
- Chris (6/5): The room you're viewing is not the room you'll get - It is an amazing property and we will likely stay there again. My main complaint is that the unit listed on the hotels.com website is not the unit that we received. The site showed an oceanfront unit with the balcony in the master bedroom overlooking the water. The unit we received had an ocean view from balcony but not the expansive view showed in the listing. I would have spent more money for the view but specifically chose that room because of the view.
- Hallie (4/5): - Not much food, groceries, transportation or beaches around hotel.
Everything is at least 30min walking and prices are extremely high compared to Lihue or Poipu beach.
- Brandon (10/5): - Beautiful views. Quiet grounds except for the roosters! They will not let you sleep in past 530am
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome Stay Great Hotel - Check-in was at a sister hotel, staff were friendly and accommodating. We had room #313 top floor we had partial view of the ocean & golf course was awesome. Had 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, fully furnished kitchen & living room; washer & dryer; balcony with ocean view.
- Robert (8/5): - View
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark Lewis (10/5): - clean and quite
- Levon (10/5): - It was beautiful experience thank you
We will be back.
- Kim (8/5): Amazing view and large unit - The views are the best ever. Very well located. Our 2 bedroom unit was very large. The patio was great. The stairs to the third floor were horrible. The lighting to find the units in the dark were horrible (wouldn’t take much to put lights at the room number signage in the parking lot!) and the parking is tight. But having said this, I’d stay there again but make sure I’m not in the third floor.
- Cupcake888 (2/5): BEWARE: $250 Fee Added to Your Reservation - Upon checking in, they very quickly tell you there’s a $250 “hold" they put on your credit card in addition to your reservation costs. The front desk tells you the $250 will be released upon check out; however, 2 days later, it's still being charged. I don’t know what the $250 is for since they text you the night before you check out to tell you to empty the trash from the unit & run the dishwasher w/all your dishes. After returning home (2 days after checking out), I called & spoke w/Heather who first told me that I needed to call my bank if the $250 doesn’t return after 3 days. I asked her to check if the “hold” was removed & she said it wasn’t & I needed to speak w/a manager/Dale or Kate who would contact me about the $250 still showing as a “hold. I texted #201-676-9704 to reiterate my conversation w/Heather & Heather responded! Over 5 hours later, Heather called me back &said Dale wasn’t coming in & the $250 would automatically be removed from the “hold” & suggested I call my bank if the $250 wasn’t returned on the 3rd day after check out—it’s the fault of my bank. The manager/Kate never called back, but finally texted after Heather called back. Kate texted that there is no option for them to manually release the $250, but that it’d would automatically release after 72 hours. Michaela then called about the $250, but I said Heather already called back & Kate texted. There may be fraudulent practice & a need to call BBB.???When checking out, the cleaning persons were on the ground floor. We had not even checked out (via text), when they were looking up at our unit on the top floor. We had not even exited (checked out of) the room, when the cleaning person was entering the unit. We had an hour left to check out. We have NEVER had this happen to us. It's very rude. Also, there was a huge piece of trash (e.g., like a recyclable grocery bag) outside of our balcony on the grass area.
- Joy (1/5): It's far away from most attractions...and w/the 2 lane roads it takes forever to get to attractions. - The front desk staff was friendly. - Elaine (9/5): Loved the ocean views and the roomy, well equipped space. - The ocean views, very spacious and well equipped. Wifi was a bit annoying to connect - definitely not seamless- had to call a number to talk to the wifi expert and at the front desk I heard many people having issues figuring out how to connect. Checking in at a different location could be a problem- luckily I read reviews so I knew what to do but the checkin info they send with your reservation should tell you in BOLD PRINT at the beginning that checkin is down the road.
- amyjermyn (10/5): Breathtaking View - Most Shearwater rooms have wonderful ocean views. First time here it rained all week. This past week was clear. The view from our unit was breathtakingly beautiful. Sunrise, midday, sunset, moonlit...hard to leave our balcony.
- Michael (10/5): - Amazing location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): We were moved to another resort - still nice! - We were moved from the Shearwater to the Ka Eo Kai as a result of overbooking. The Ka Eo Kai is not ocean side. Although we were quite disappointed with the move as we were looking forward to the Oceanside views the Ka Eo Kai was really nice and the staff was very helpful. We ended up with a distant but gorgeous ocean view over the golf course out front and mountain view in back. The unit was a little dated but still very comfortable for a family of five. No AC but the ocean breezes made up fo that. So although we started out a little frustrated overall I would recommend the Ka Eo Kai
- Gail (9/5): Superb - The ocean view!
- Lily (8/5): - Ocean front (cliff) w/path to beach and snorkeling
- Tyson (10/5): Very good spot - Never ate breakfast on property Checking us in on time.
- Dave (6/5): - It is an absolutely beautiful property in Princeville. Management starts off by sending very nice informative texts and updates, but upon arrival all that niceness disappears! Lots and lots of rules, and when you ask for assistance on things like early checking or Wi-Fi problems they very nicely tell you nothing and do not help at all.
Management and front desk folks are absolute masters at telling you no and referring you to someone else to help you ie passing the buck!
Apparently it takes them up to 4 hours to clean a unit, and miraculously it was ready at 5:00pm but not a minute sooner
- John (8/5): Very good - location, nice rooms wifi was horrible and I called the technician three times and couldn’t fix it
- Departure552333 (6/5): Shearwater's view is amazing...but - We traded thru RCI to stay at the Shearwater after hearing so many comments on the amazing views from the units. Most properties in Princeville do not have a view of the water, so I was very excited to arrive. After a long flight, we stopped at the grocery store, had a car full of luggage and supplies and headed to the North Shore. The Shearwater resort is not staffed at all, so we had to check into another property down the road. We asked for help with the luggage since we were on the 3rd floor with no elevators. She said she’d send someone over in a few minutes. Well, we waited for about 15 minutes and started hauling the bags up to the room. An hour later, I called the concierge and told her to cancel the request. Nobody ever came to help us. Strike one…We got into the room around 4:30pm, the sun beating in thru the windows, and found out there is no air conditioning in any of the units. The trade winds were not blowing, and it was pretty warm. Turned on the ceiling fans to find out that they didn’t move past the low setting, not much relief. Strike 1.5..ok, not horrible because the view was amazing. Unpacked all the food, started looking around the kitchen and saw tiny ants crawling everywhere. The windows are old and warped, lots of open spaces for bugs to enter, especially at night I saw bugs all over the walls. You can’t shut the windows or you’ll suffocate. Now we are definitely at Strike 2. If you try to call the front desk, they do not answer the phone. Anytime I needed something for the room, i.e., garbage bags, soap, detergent, etc. I had to get in the car and drive to the other property.
Went to the pool, the jacuzzi jets weren’t working, tried to BBQ on the grills, no utensils. I was told to drive over to the other property to pick up a metal tong…No housekeeping service or light cleaning all week. Our microwave was full of mold. Even though the view is amazing, there are too many other issues that soured the trip so I will not be returning to this property, Sorry Wyndham, Strike 3.
- Susan (10/5): Loved the peaceful atmosphere and felt very comfortable, right at home. - Beautiful and spacious. On the golf course and ocean, with a lovely deck that looked over both. Great beds and pillows. The property could use a thorough cleaning. It was not bad, but after a few days we started noticing areas that could use attention.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- ErleScott (6/5): our stay - after getting home and being sent the final bill for stay, an extra almost 200$ charged to my CC, not only county taxes, but a timeshare occupancy tax of 13.16 a night, and a 95$ RCI split week housekeeping charge, what is that??????? the resort stated that it was a RCI charge, when I called RCI they say it is a resort charge, so what is it ??? We have stayed here several times, but this will be the last, with extra charges like this. very disappointed and beware of concierge, they talk about the discount you receive booking through them, but you have to attend a presentation to receive the discount, who wants to sit through a presentation when you have been an RCI member for years and could probably tell them a few things, because of this, we missed out on a luau.... very disappointed
- Sina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francois (9/5): Superb - Very large apartment, wonderful views on the ocean, super confortable and well equipped, very quiet location, front office staff very friendly (he called us during our stay to ensure everything was fine) wifi connection is not smooth
check in is not on the property but on the new one : the exact location for check in should be communicated upfront
- Andreas (9/5): Loved it. Spacious suite room with great view of the ocean. - We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was spacious with a large deck facing the ocean. Evenings were spent on the deck watching the moonrise and soaking up the incredible sounds of the big surf. It felt like quintessential Hawaii. We could hear upstairs neighbors a tiny bit but not bad compared to some places. Also checking in after hours required us to go to another location. Although the ocean is close it's not accessible.
- johnbV2795GT (2/5): Double booked - find your own accommodation elsewhere!! - Booked and paid for a 2 bedroom apartment back in August. Rang 48 hours prior to confirm our arrival as per their request. Booking was still under our name and all was good. Flew in from a long flight to discover they supposedly knew nothing about us staying there. They told us there had been a change in our booking by our provider which we later discovered was untrue.
After an hour and a half of us speaking to the very helpful provider sitting in the Club Shearwater car park, we eventually got replacement accommodation 24 miles away from where we wanted to stay. Our provider informed us that this was not the first time this had happened at this accommodation.
We found out from our provider that Club Shearwater had not notified the provider til the day of our arrival, that they had double booked our accommodation. They even had a case number for something they told us they knew nothing about!! (as in us staying there). We received no email, no sms, no phone call from Club Shearwater.
Very poor customer service. Totally uninterested in helping us. We would not recommend booking with them unless you want to take the risk of being left high and dry like we were and having to chase up last minute accommodation.
On a positive note they did provide us the contact number of our provider when our data connection was not working.
- Roving26487126520 (2/5): Bait and Switch - We recently had booked a room here, we showed up at the Wyndham Ka Eo Kai to check in and we're provided out keys in an envelope as expected. We drove over to the Wyndham Shearwater and started trying to find our room. We noticed the room numbers didn't match up to the rooms there. We called the contact back at the front desk and he apologized and informed us we should of been notified, but we we're downgraded to the Ka Eo Kai which is not right on the water. He said someone should of notified us. I check my email 10 times a day so we did not miss any notification, we did receive texts asking our check in time, no notice of being moved to a different location. Very disappointing. Maybe even more disappointing was after the stay we filled out the survey they sent us and no even reached out from the hotel to apologize for the issue. Wouldn't recommend due to the bait and switch going on here.
- Mary (2/5): Double booked, find your own accomm elsewhere!! - Flew in from Australia to find they had double booked our room. We'd paid in August. Rang 48 hrs before as requested, no issues. Tried to blame Hotel.com who were unaware til the day of our arrival. We spent 1.30 hrs on phone in the car park trying to sort out new accomm. Nothing avail in the area. Ended up 24 miles away from where we wanted to be. Club Shearwater was unhelpful, not interested in any way. Although they knew there was going to be a problem as they gave us a case no. We received no phone call, no email, no notification. Do not recommend booking/staying there unless you want to take the risk of turning up and there being nothing available.
- Buffalogal8318 (2/5): Be Forewarned!! - We booked 5 nights at the Wyndham Shearwater in Kauai back in March—7 months ago. We were supposed to check in on October 25. On October 24 they sent us an email stating, “We are unable to accommodate your upcoming reservation at Club Wyndham Shearwater.” They offered to relocate us to a lesser quality Wyndham on the other side of the island, which was not in the area we wanted to stay. Their “operations” team was unapologetic and very unhelpful. Thankfully, we were able to find better accommodations elsewhere, and on checking in at the new hotel we were told that they had another guest with the same bad experience at Wyndham Shearwater a few days ago. Although it looks like a very nice place to stay, I would never book at the Shearwater again. It was very upsetting and could have been disastrous to our vacation to have them boot us out one day before our arrival. Apparently overbooking is common practice there. BE FOREWARNED! !

- Donald (4/5): - As other reviewers have noted, the views from my condo were spectacular and the 2 bedroom condo was large. However, I experienced a severe maintenance issue and nothing was done by the staff to resolve it.
First, I saw a lizard on the wall behind the sofa and another later on the sofa. It was apparent they had been there some time as there were droppings on the baseboard behind the sofa. I called housekeeping and was sent to voicemail where I reported the issue. There was no call back from the staff and no one came out to resolve the issue.
Second, there were many small ants in the kitchen area. They were on the counter and soon got into food. I had the unpleasant experience of ants running out a bowl of cereal I was about to eat!
Finally, as noted by others, there is no air-conditioning although this was not documented by the resort and other travel websites even state it is air-conditioned.
- Sunshine39419448527 (4/5): Pest Problems - As other reviewers have noted, the views from my condo were spectacular and the 2 bedroom condo was large. However, I experienced a severe maintenance issue and nothing was done by the staff.
First, I saw a good-sized lizard crawling on the wall behind the sofa and another later on the sofa.
Finally, although Tripadvisor shows air-conditioning as a room feature, the condo has no air-conditioning and fans must be used. This undoubtedly contributed to the pest problems explained above.
In summary, stay at the Shearwater at your own risk. If pests bother you, I would stay somewhere else.
- Morgan & Tiffany (10/5): - Very spacious. Loved the ocean view, but pretty balmy without AC — use the included floor fan and don’t be afraid to request another! Responsive staff for things I needed. Would have been nice if there was some personalization (there was nothing when I mentioned birthdays). Also specifically requested no pool side and got exactly that.
- Jia (9/5): Feel like home - Apt room is big. Great ocean view and big deck. Quiet. Nothing
- Timothy (10/5): - Visit was an overall great experience. Condo was very nice with huge clean rooms. Maintenance waz very prmpt to get us set up with new coffee maker that was not operating. They came and replaced the tv in master bedroom as well, even though we never watched it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing stay with the best view from our balcony! Highly recommend!
- Dewayne (8/5): Details matter - Nice property but managed like a hotel not a family owned property. Clean but not any extras such as snorkeling gear, etc which should be expected with th a condo rental. View is good but building hotels with wind from flow due to construction of building design. Not a problem stay but sure that it should be rented at a discount due to wind noise as the effect on b occupant noise travel due to design not bad clients.
- Prathamesh (8/5): - Our check-in was very problematic as we arrived late at midnight which was already informed to the hotel staff and they provided a security number in the email which we tried for 10 times but no one answered. We waited outside in dark for 75 mins late at night. Check-in experience was terrible although the stay was pleasant and property is amazing to spend time and relax, many near-by places for tourism and restaurants/rentals available.
- Amaryah (10/5): Great accommodations and experiences! - My family of 4 LOVED our stay at Club Wyndham Shearwater!! The condo was SUPER CLEAN and the beds were SUPER COMFORTABLE! The pool and hot tub were sufficient. The view was breathtaking! We enjoyed our stay as well as the surrounding area! Snorkeling at Anini Beach was a dream (we saw coral, tropical fish, and sea turtles). Hiking the Kalalau Trail was gorgeous (despite torrential rain on the return journey). We enjoyed food from the Kilauea Fish Market, Jojo’s, etc.
- LoriA48 (10/5): Great Condo and exceptional view!!! - This resort offers one of the best ocean views on the island. The condo is clean, well-maintained and has all the kitchen essentials as well as two bathrooms, one with a spa tub. This condo ticks all the boxes!!!
- armyguns (10/5): Great location - Stayed at Shearwater 5-12 March 2022. It is a little tricky to find where you need to check-in and then get to the unit initially, especially in the dark, but it is well worth effort. The unit (203) was very nice with perhaps one of the best views from the balcony of any place I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended.
- Wendy (10/5): - The view was spectacular. We watched whales in the ocean each morning. We found everything needed in our rooms, which made us really feel at home.
- Michael (10/5): - Do not hesitate! Book The Shearwater! Incredible views. We had room 101. Fantastic views of the ocean. Giant 2 bedroom, two bathroom. Full kitchen. Large eating area, and large living room. Pool super clean. Staff friendly, and respond to any concerns within minutes.
Best money we’ve spent on a resort in a long time.
- 700philippm (8/5): Comfortable, spacey and relaxing - Spacey apartment in nice neighborhood. Checkin and checkout a bit complicated as you have to drive to another resort and they kick you out with security at the end. Pool was dirty, whirlpool was nice. Internet and parking was good. Kitchen was well equipped.
- Hong Yu (10/5): - Beautiful location and amazing view! Had a enjoyable and peaceful vocation at this property!
- King_Edward60 (10/5): Relaxing and great view!!! - We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with a great view. It was quiet and super relaxing. A well equipped unit with enough supplies to keep you going for a few days, if you run out housekeeping will gladly give more. I brought some binoculars and we spotted whales right from our lanai almost every day.
- jerend2916 (10/5): Pleasant Hawaiian Holiday - Great facility. Great area for a quiet, beautiful holiday. Close to restaurants, grocery store and shopping. Also close to some great beaches, specifically Anini. Anini is the home to some very large turtles and has a nice entry.
- purpleocean7 (4/5): Disappointed ☹️ - We booked a 2 bedroom ocean suite. We chose this resort because of the views and the bathtubs that have jets in them, shown in the pictures ,and we enjoyed them when we stayed there before.
Before arriving,we contacted the hotel to confirm our reservation, they said they would send a message when our room was ready with check in instructions. They never did,so we waisted time driving around to find out that we had to check in at their other property.Upon finally checking in,I asked for a late check out, they said we could stay until 11:00,and if we wanted later to call later. When we called back they said we could stay until 10:30.I told them what they said earlier, and they said they would contact the manager and call us back. At 10:55,while I was still waiting for a call back,a security guard rudely came to the door and told us we had to leave .I was barely dressed and felt very uncomfortable talking to him face to face but he insisted on talking,so I explained the situation while in my nightgown .He walked away after I told him the situation. Then we recieved a call from the desk ,saying we could stay until 12:00.Sure enough at 11:55,the security guard came back and was awaiting us outside and watched us as we brought our bags to our car.I began to close the unit door and he said to leave it open,so I did.
I have never felt so uncomfortable checking out of a hotel before.I have also never been escorted to my car by a security guard as if we had done something wrong.
The coffee maker was broken and made a big mess for me to clean up. The blender was broken as well,it made noise but didn't blend.
Aside from all of this, the biggest disappointment was no bath tub in our 2 bedroom suite! This was honestly the main reason I picked this resort because the tubs have jacuzzi jets.
I called about this because the pictures clearly have bathtubs in the rooms, even the review s talk about how nice they are.I was told there was nothing they could do and that we were in a handicapped room. It is nice to know they can accommodate handicapped people but we never requested this type of room.
Now if that is not enough!,upon opening the pull out bed for my son,it was soaking wet!!
I called the office and let them know and asked for some extra sheets to put over it to make do for the night. They said someone would be right over.
We waited until past ten,and no one ever came that night, or the next day .I gave up calling because they don't call back ,keep their word or seem to really care about the guests happiness.
The views are great but very disappointed because we spent a lot of money for a bathtub that we never got and were rudely treated .
- Jasmine (10/5): Amazing! - Amazing view, extremely comfortable bed, great in unit amenities (laundry, full kitchen, ocean view balcony).
Loved it here. Will absolutely come back.
- William (10/5): - The View and quietness were wonderful! The unit was very large and well appointed.
- Emily (10/5): - The rooms were nice and big, nice kitchen and living room area. I have kids so I wish the dining room table did have carpet under it but besides that it was awesome. It comes with dishes and laundry soap so you can cook and do your laundry right there. The view from the deck was amazing!!
- Linda (8/5): Beautiful - The unit was spacious and the view of the ocean was wonderful. The unit was very clean, little noise from others and had everything we needed.
- Happy_Travelers (10/5): - Room 109 was wonderful, ocean view and cool breeze. We attended the "free breakfast" which of course is a time share sales pitch, but, unlike Las Vegas Wyndham, the employees here respected our wishes and left us alone afterward.
- Katherine M. (8/5): A beautiful view with all the amenities, Unit 309 - The only reason for 4 stars is because of the check in after hours. Luckily, I called before we traveled and they explained check in would be off site. When we arrived, it was midnight, windy and raining. Would have been nice to know that the call box was at the Clubhouse. After we used the call box, security led us to our unit. Also, the VRBO check out time on our confirmation was stated as 11am. The Wyndham check out is 10am. Please correct this on confirmation! Otherwise, the experience was more than we expected.
Unit 309 has a beautiful ocean (coastline) view to the Lighthouse. Washer, dryer (even laundry soap). We called for new coffee pot and it was immediately delivered. Plenty of coffee and some treats. It was more than we imagined. A very nicely updated unit.
- Catrina (10/5): ved my stay in Kauai - I loved the view from the room and the concierge service. Clean towels and very speacious and private. Spa and pool available as well
- Marian (10/5): Great place to stay! - Beautiful view and lots of space. The furniture is more updated than the photos show so they must have noticed previous comments. Enjoyed my stay at the Wyndham Shearwater.
- Holly (10/5): Great Two Bedroom with a Gorgeous Views - Beautiful accommodations overlooking the water. The suite was spacious and well-stocked with plenty of room for a large family. The location is on the North Shore. Due to the way roads are built on the island, visitors should allow plenty of time to get to other parts of the island.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Amazing view of the ocean. - We stayed in unit 109 E which is a bottom floor unit and the view of the ocean was truly awesome and the unit itself was clean and comfortable. The main issues that occurred was the tenant above us had real heavy feet and it was very annoying hearing him walk around during the evening and early morning. We tried sitting on the deck to enjoy the amazing view of the ocean and sound of the waves which was terrific until he came out every evening and morning to smoke (which is not permitted) and had very loud conversations on his phone and with his partner which we could hear clearly. When they were not in their unit, it was a nice experience and a great place to stay. The location was very convenient to all parts of the north and east shore activities. Maybe it was a stroke of bad luck with tenant above us but I am uncertain if I would return because of the disturbing noise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A great place to stay in Kauai! Located in Princeville, with a great little grocery store and shopping center right at entrance to resort area. Condo was perfect - looked right out onto beach and was very private and quiet. Everything you needed for a week long stay - washer and dryer, equipped kitchen. Beware, however, no a/c! Apparently this is not uncommon. We acclimated but visited in October. Hope to visit again next year!
- J9 (10/5): - Large, comfortable, clean rooms. They gave us a room by Clubhouse/pool and was noisy and we were able to switch to a rim further away without an issue. Nice pool, large patio.
